Great little museum!
Nice place to visit
Kid loved it. Much to see, learn and capture
Well worth the admission price of only $5 to learn about the Wright Brothers and the importance of America’s first military flight school.
Did you know...this was the first airport? The museum is nice and for $5 fee, it's the perfect rainy day adventure. Lots of activities for kids.
This place is awesome. We went in for special event called Santa flying in. Santa came from a flying chopper which was cool. The museum is very neat and they had tons of crafts stations for kids to create all the Christmas ornaments and letter to the Santa. The best part was meeting Santa of course. My 6yr old think this must be the real Santa since he had a real beard. They even took picture and print out! The people working here were all super friendly and cheerful. It was very nice experience and we all had blast. I am definitely returning to this place again.
It's the history of the area I live in..
Several hands on activities for young kids as well as interesting information on aviation history for adults.
The staff is HORRIBLE. When I got there, there was no receptionist. We were forced to wait. We waited 10 mins, then I decided to walk in to see if he was inside the exhibit. I found him, and he accused me of not paying and disobeying the rules. I payed him, and brought my friends in. 10 mins later, he finds us and tells us that our time was up, and forced us to leave. He told us we had just arrived 10 mins before closing time. What a scam! The exhibit was so small, I got though more than half in 10 mins. Its not worth the $5 per person. The google pictures account for half of the exhibit anyways. Its actually more exciting to browse the history of aviation through the web than to go to this museum. If you wish to go to a museum, the Smithsonian Air and Space is far better, and just a metro ride away. (the tickets are cheaper than $5)
A great to visit, and learn there history.
Great museum and very knowledgeable staff.
Really cool museum and educational at a really good price
Great place for field trip
The musuem was very good and there were some flying games that were very fun but it seemed like not everything was there when I was there
Nice little museum
Very detailed and great place to learn more about aviation.
Awesome museum at the oldest continually operating airport in the world!!! Highly recommend a visit!
Good for an hour's stop in, bring small kids too as there is stuff for them to do. Lots of local history and aviation exhibits.
New operations building facility
I like the air crafts
Excellent museum for young and old, pilots and non-pilots! Of course our crew especially likes the Berliner helicopter, but there is plenty to do and see for everyone. Very well laid out, a nicely rounded collection, and friendly staff. You can fly into College Park airport, or it's easily accessed by public transportation.
I love the fact that they have costumes for the kids to dress up and pretend!
Awesome experience
Small museum - excellent for younger children. Several hands-on exhibits.
Very nice
I ❤ this museum.
Great place to visit. Great for kids of all ages.
Had some time to wait in College Park and were pleasantly surprised by the oldest operating airport in the world. Great museum for all ages.
The College Park Aviation Museum is at the sight of the oldest continuously operating airport in the WORLD which was built by the Wright brothers to train the first US Army pilots....so cool.
A quiet little gem in college park - we were the only ones wandering the interactive exhibits and the cool kids play areas. Well worth the price of admission and frequently has deals on groupon
Disc golf discs and science toys
Always alot of fun
Informative curation, cool exhibits from first few decades of U.S. aviation, friendly staff. Enjoyable for small kids.
A great place! Lots of fun hands on exhibits and very kid friendly!
This place is awesome! Who knew this was in College Park? It's an amazing space with terrific planes on display. Love it Love it Love It
Great customer service. Nice small museum with alot of history. Must go especially if you live and Maryland it's right at your fingertips. It was a great experience. I will return back!
Fantastic museum! One of the few you can fly in to see! Superb staff and excellent exhibits make this a real gem of an aviation museum!
Climate's weird in here...
Great place for little ones! My son is three and he loved it! It's not too big, it won't tire your little ones out. The only down side is the only place to eat food is outdoors. Other than that, it's awesome. We will be returning!
Gem of a museum, wonderful place for kids to learn about being a pilot.
Great museum for little ones. Has enough hands on play areas to amuse and the bits of information sink in easily with little to no confusion for. 5 and 3 year old. We didn't have our kids try anything on for dress up but they had great choices if your kids are into that.
Better than expected
For its size, it is an amazing museum. Plenty of things to read, learn, and play with there. Many activities for children, and it is next to an actual municipal airport where children can watch planes take-off and land. An inspirational museum in an inspirational setting. There is parking at the museum and it is also an easy walk from the College Park Metro Station.
Soo amazing to have lived soo close to this awesome historical.site!!
Really great Hands-On opportunities for kids.
Very nice little museum, kid friendly.
A hidden treasure in College Park. Home of civil aviation for over 100 years in the Washington DC area. The staff is extremely friendly and the cost is reasonable. Not a large place, but they have managed to pack in a whole lot of history and aircraft from world war 1 to airmail to cubs and local aircraft manufacturers. You need to stop and check them out.
A very nice way to pass an hour or so. Fun for the kids!
Is really cool.
Great place to visit
I accompanied my 6 year old in a school field trip to the museum, kids loved it and they learned a lot about the history of aviation. A lot of interactive exhibits for the kids to keep it interesting is a bonus.
It was as a great experience and good time hanging out with my boss Chis Chisolm at the MAMA meeting today
The place is a hidden jury. It contains my earlier plane models and any interactive gadgets. The place is clean. It is well maintained and stuff are very friendly. It also has great view -- the only barrier between the museum and airport lane is the museum glass wall. It as shame that too few people know this place.
Nice place to visit to see displays on the early days of powered flight.
Low entry fees for a place with a lot of history. A few things to keep the kids busy. A LOT of reading.
5 bucks. Relatively small. You can be on and out real quick. The place was free on this college Park Maryland day. They have a small play ground. You can watch some planes take off.
Great aviation museum at the oldest continuously operating air field in the world
Very educational and great for the kids
It says open daily on the map but not today for whatever reason. Update please.
Very nice. The kids were able to get on several plans and simulation stations.
Small but nice. It's a very good first time avaition experience for kids
Heritage aviation museum, since the college park airport is the world's oldest continuosly operated airport
Good for a local museum but doesn't take more than 45 min to see everything with kids.
Nice small museum with a few early aircraft.
Great experience for children of all ages. The history of airplanes, pilots, and all things aviatuin. The hands on activities are awesome.
This is a great museum for kids. It is small, but well worth the low price of admission. There are multiple flight simulations for kids to try. There are also a plane and helicopter that kids can touch, climb into, and pull levers inside. For adults, there is lots to read about the history of aviation. Who knew that the world's oldest continuously operating airport was in College Park, MD?
Very nice place to go with kids.
Very fun little museum, even for preschoolers. They have a lot of hands on games and learning experience including crafts and lots of dress ups. There is a place and a helicopter they can climb in and pretend to fly. There are quite a few large planes to look at and at Christmas time they do a pretty good train display for a week. Worth the visit every time.
I've been there 2 weeks ago and I really love this so much, nice airplanes and the pilots with many others. It Is really awesome and beautiful place to enjoy and relax. Nice people helping me tell me about the history of the airplanes of many years ago .
Always excellent visit with two toddlers. Displays change pretty frequently. Highly recomended!!
We have a 5 year old and a 4 year old and this was very interactive for them. They enjoyed trying in different clothes, riding a bike, sitting in an airplane and touching most of the exhibits! We got a Groupon which mad either even more affordable!
The College Park Aviation Museum is a (somewhat) hidden gem. Great place for kids and adults alike, with a really incredible history. Support your local parks and rec facilities and museums!
Consider these a small museum but you'll learn something. They have flight lesson station where my daughter enjoyed games, puzzles, coloring and reading. They have mini costume booth for mailmans, pilots/ plane crews for kids to try on. A nice patio large enough for toddlers with some mini wooden planes to ride on for small kids. These place is good for kids ages 7 and below.
Great for four year olds.
Learned so much about the beginnings of aviation and how it's progressed throught the years. Lots of kids activities as well. Well worth it! We plan on going back for more!
Nice place. Sunnyday and wind . It's so comfortable.
Very cute and informative
Great place to visit.
Great for small children and old aeroplane buffs alike.
The aviation museum is part of the world's oldest working airport and was founded by the Wright Brothers! It is a small museum listed in Atlas Obscura website, which is where I learned about it. Admission is cheap and is a good place for young children!
Great for kids and adults!
This is a Hidden Gem. It is a superb Museum with lots of activities and things to touch for kids up to the ages of 8. The gift shop here is very reasonably priced. The staffer extremely courteous and very helpful. The ticket prices are very reasonable at $5 for adults and $3 for kids.
Small museum! But kids till had a great time! They love it gettimg on the simulator airplane and helicopter that make the experience more fun for them. I Found a Groupon for this place last minute,so I decide to take the kids. Worth it!
Very fun and kid friendly
Great place for young kids.
Great place to take toddlers/small children. Staff is super friendly. They have a play place that is adorable and kids really enjoy it
Good small museum. Limited activities but priced accordingly.
Great for all ages
Great hidden gem for kids and adults
Fantastic little, great for young and old museum. Being your camera as there are hands on activities. The entrance price is very reasonable prices; but there are several events were everyone enters free. Ask for the activity booklet when you enter. If everyone in your house completes the book, your next entrance is free. Of you feel like a walk, there is a trail behind the building that takes to Lake Artemesi.a.
Very cool place, friendly and knowledgeable staff to boot. Thanks for an awesome tour!
Great experience. Loved the interactive displays
Great museum
Cozy museum with fantastic activities for kids.
A high quality small museum, very interesting and informative
Kind of small but quaint.
They had such amazing pieces that I haven't seen at numerous other flight museums. I loved it all and the people were kind. I only wish you had little metal planes for sale as I'm trying to collect them. This was the first place that didn't have anything.
Fun for the family
Our tour guide Patrick was very informative, engaging and entertaining. The kids had a blast. Very clean and fun field trip. Not over crowded. Would definitely recommend going.
Kids had fun learning
Great place for kids
Great collection of planes and aircraft of all kinds
Very good and nice
A wonderful little museum to look back on the history of this nation's oldest, continuing operational airport and the range of aircraft that flew there, including the Wright Brothers!
Very nice place for meeting space. Space to eat outside, bathrooms clean and mtg space spacious with two pulled down screens.
Little too crowded, pretty small place. Santa landing during Christmas is fun but too crowded.
College Park Day was awesome.
College Park Aviation Museum is a wonderful little museum for those who enjoy a hands on experience with their youngest to older children. From exhibits that teach how aircraft work and have changed over time to aircraft and helicopters children can climb into to hands on touch exhibits using air and cockpit controls, it sparks the imagination. Our 3 and 6 year olds love coming here. If you haven’t been before, give it a try and pack a lunch to sit on the roof deck our outdoor courtyard replete with little climb-in push planes on wheels.
Been here before withy seniors, now with my juniors
So fun for kids and adults! I love sitting in the real planes and riding on the plane scooters outside!
Super excellent place to learn abd enjoy with familu.....
Small, but very good
The model of the Wright brothers plane is very cool. Also, the museum seems to function as a de facto indoor playground for children under 5, so if you have some of these then it will prove to be a fun place for you.
Oldest operating airstrip in the world.
Small but pretty good
Wow is this place cool: aircraft, simulators, a wind tunnel, cockpits - very well done!
Great place to learn about American and World Aviation History. Starting with the Wrighr Brothers to how this is now the oldest continuous operating airport in the World. Fun place for kids, school and club trips and being in an environment where STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) is used every day to provided services. Take the tour and get ready to be amazed with what you will learn about the last 100+ years of Aviation.!!!
Fantastic museum. So many things to see and learn.
Historic site. I learned a lot about the aviation industry in the United States.
Nice museum for kids. My kids are really enjoyed.
Good place to take kids, they have planes and helicopters for kids to sit in, pilot costumes and other fun activities. There is no food or drink stall so plan to bring those yourself. Inexpensive entry and there was a groupon available as well
Great museum! Went there for a birthday party, and was very appropriate for children. Lots to learn, and even my 16-month old daughter enjoyed it. There were plenty of interactive activities, but probably could have benefited from a short film to get the kids more enthusiastic. A little confused by the gift shop - thought that they had actual Lego sets for sale, but they were knock-off cheap construction blocks - and were expensive. Will look for a chance to take my 6-year old son there soon. I would recommend giving this a place a try.
Clean modern facility. Great historical exhibits.
Great small aviation museum located next to the historic College Park airpark. Carries several planes from the early days of aviation, including an intriguing very early (and very rare) "helicopter". Has some nice history of the ERCO company, a small airplane manufacturer that was located less than a mile away. My kid likes their gift shop, too. Some nice hands-on exhibits, to boot!
Great fun for the kids and wonderful exhibits to explore. Racked up at the gift shop!
My kids love this place. Their faces light up whenever I mention going. The admission is very reasonable. It's really a hidden gem!
Wonderful!!!! kids loved it
Great facilitators!
This is *the* place to learn about how aviation started; I learned a lot. I am not sure how interesting it is for kids that aren't into airplanes, but there is a kids section and they have presentations for kids.
Until they get some diversity in their museum it will be a disappointment to me. I grew up around culture and need to see that reflected in the places I visit. But it’s a place with great potential right at a little plane airport. It’s classic. Get some black pilots on your walls. How about all the other variety of humanity that has flown planes here in the States. Let’s see that reflected. DIVERSITY IS NECESSARY. Representation matters.
5$ admission, a lot of aviation history
Nicely done if smaller musuem. Has some flight simulator games for kids. Nice Wright Model "B" replica. With Groupon, it was very cheap!
Great museum!
Highly recommend the guided tour to navigate this wonderful museum. The secret needs to be out... a remarkable adventure for the entire family.
Something to learn about aviation
It was really interesting. Great for kids! Lots for them to do.
Had a great kids birthday party here!
Great museum for a weekend visit!! Not too big so it didnt overwhelm you. The kids loved the interactive planes they could climb in. Younger kids will like the scavenger hunt. Glad we finally visited!!
An excellent preservation of the history of the oldest -continuously-operated airport in the United States. Has a few interesting aircraft on display and interactive displays. A good place to bring kids
Interesting exhibits in here. Loved it. You can control some of the planes that are on display. Has flight simulators. Reasonable prices. Could improve on the size though.
Small snd quick but they have a few interesting airplanes
This place is a great small historical landmark. Fun for the kiddies .
One of the great small aviation museums in the United States. Situated on the University of Maryland, college Park aviation museum is where it all started. the Wright brothers brought their planes here to show to Congress and the military. Good for small kids and the elderly. Fun Hands-On stuff and not too big a museum.
Great place to enjoy airplanes
Great experience for the kids, they had a great day. I enjoyed the art pieces also and my daughter loved the plane to sit in will def return again. Great family fun.
Kids friendly museum that is also a great find for aviation enthusiasts.
This is such a great place to come with kids. We brought my five-year-old on a frigid winter day and he spent an hour-and-a-half entertaining himself and playing in the kids section. It's a working air Field as well so you can see planes taking off and landing if you're lucky.
I love this park for small kids under 10 because of the hands on activities. I wish they would work on having more diverse exhibits about aviation. Not much on women in the field.
Very cool place
Great experience I'm not gonna lie , specially since I work at the Airport . tHis place has a bigger meaning for me, since I could relate to it.
Small but great museum.
This place has the most obnoxious photographer. Now I know why public figures get so irate with them. IF I WANTED MY PICTURE TAKEN, I'D ASK!!!
Family had a lot of fun here. It's a little small and could use some updates. If you're in the area give it a look and help support history.
Nice place to visit. Quiet and historical.
Awesome museum with alot of local history.
Very nice museum with a lot of interesting things to see and learn. Very good if you go with kids, they can ride several things and learn about the basics of flying.
Good place to take the family and learn about Aviation and history
Great size for kids to run around in.
