This Museum is included in the category of Maritime museum.
A great outdoor an indoor facility. You will definitely learn a lot about the local industry. Go for sure
It was a really good experience.
What a great museum! We enjoyed the detailed displays on crabbing and oyster harvesting. I appreciated how well everything was labelled and a number of things were geared towards children. Can't beat the view either!
Great museum when visiting St. Michaels. Depending on your interests you could spend two hours there or an entire day. Few interesting finds and surprises.
I was there for the Sea Glass Festival. It was a beautiful day, good entertainment, and a good variety of vendors. Food and water ran low during the afternoon and the food lines were long and slow moving. It was the first time at this venue, I'm sure it will improve.
hands on activities and guide available to answer questions. There's a campus so you get to walk around and visit different exhibits. I went for the waterman's day crab feast! great festival 5 stars.
Amazing place
Very interesting exhibits, but be aware, if you go on a hot summer day almost everything is outdoors ( ie not air conditioned)
Really nice museum. Especially impressed by the active boat repair/restoration shop. You can see historic boats being restored in the shop. If you're so inclined there are programs that allow volunteers to assist with the restoration work. This museum is a must for any Maryland history buff.
great place to visit must see the MD chesapeake maritime history and what to hope for the future of the bay culture
It was a beautiful day. We took a Watermark boatride from Annapolis. It landed at a dock at the museum which made it very convenient to tour. There are many interesting historical displays of the Bay and its culture.
Interesting historical hands on.
Many unique and detailed items from the history of the largest Bay in the USA
What a great little museum about the history of the Chesapeake and boat building in St. Michael's. Really cool to see their boat shop where they're all hand building boats, they've got a barn full of older models, and things one the old screw lighthouse. Definitely worth seeing in St Michaels
Beautiful views on Chesapeake Waters
The history of the Chesapeake Bay and the life of the Waterman is highlighted here and is always interesting to observe.
Very cool place
Very nice
Authentic Chesapeake historic floating exhibits, access to water and waterfowl exhibits, working boatyard, friendly atmosphere.
A museum with a big outside and a deck. They do have a big room for events like a private party
Rich with Maryland history! A must visit.
This museum pushes well beyond simply "good". It's exploration of all facets of life beside the river from the founding of it to modern day is aptly told not solely in text, like many other more commercial museums do. Instead, this museum is hands on and demonstrative by both the choices in exhibits, but the activity of keeping the art of wooden ship building alive. Worth every penny and more.
Wow, these people love their crabs.
Great for kids and adults. History comes alive. Very professional staff, knowledgeable
There is so much to see and learn. Having a two-day pass is great but still not long enough to see everything they have. I really enjoyed the 1920's buyboat excursion which costs extra but well worth the cost!
Interesting exhibits. Staff is very friendly.
I loved the seaglass festival My daughter and I went it was a great time
Beautiful but not very helpful employees
Very nice guided tour for the kids feild trip.
Dog friendly. Very informative. It was cool that I could bring my dog. She was able to go everywhere.
I love this place. Just a beautiful area. Nice to walk around and see sime history.
Wonderful exhibits and beautiful view
Fun day spent at the museum and sea glass festival.
A treasure trove of maritime history from the local area that you will not find any where else
Fun place to hang out and explore, many fun exhibits and play places.
Had a great time during Waterman appreciation day. A great day had by all.
I never see before that here to place. It nice and some path these difference to Chesapeake Bay market. That good less was warm to outdoor!
You can roam around the light house. It's open. You can hop from building to building. We couldn't see everything because of wedding. Some buildings were occupied by the wedding guests.
Great venue to discover the history and lifestyle of the Chesapeake.
The Eastern Shore town of St. Michael's MD is a fine day trip from the Philadelphia and DC areas. The Chesapeake Maritime Museum's Patriot boat tour of the local waterways on a nice day is pleasant and informative. Check their website for days and times of operation.
This place is awesome. On paper it looks like a snooze fest, but in reality it is awesome! We have two kids under the age of 8, and they loved it. We have been there twice and there is plenty to do. Great exhibits, great views and great interactions.
everyone here is super friendly they have classes and events all the time wonderful place to visit I strongly suggested coming
I love old or new wooden boats. Worth a visit.
A lot to see! If you get the chance, do the river cruise offered by the museum. Informative and fun.
A hidden treasure! A great way to spend a winter day!
Information on website was wrong...expections of boat tour were not met.
Interesting cluster of buildings each with various displays centering around maritime life and activities in the Chesapeake. We enjoyed the waterman exhibit with the live crabs and oysters.
Excellent facility demonstrating the industry that made the eastern shore economy. Twelve buildings on shipbuilding, oystering, crabs & the marine industries. Great fun & interactive. The volunteers are knowledgable & teach their craft very well. Highly recommended for kids & adults.
This was a great museum a lot of history about the people who lived on the Chesapeake Bay, crabbing and oyster harvesting. Beautiful area we went on a sunny day. This would be fun for kids
Very interesting museum. Actually building copies of very old boats/ships used in the area. Two lighthouses on site. Give yourself at least 2 hours to see everything.
Sea the boats. See the pun? Lots of info. Lots of fun.
This is a great place for kids. Lots of beautiful water views, plenty of interesting exhibits. It's a little expensive, but if you belong to a member museum of CAMM, it's free. We have several such museums within half a day of us, so it's worthwhile. The only negative is that there is no readily accessible exit for someone who's disabled.
Interesting, informative displays. Scenic location. Friendly staff
My family and I love the CBMM we have a great time look at the exhibits and the view of the river is amazing. Some of the exhibits are interactive for the kids like pulling up crab pots to see if you caught anything.
Great displays
Great place! Very friendly staff and super interesting exhibits. Also just a beautiful place to walk around. Definitely recommend this!
Nice cozy place to eat and learn about the history and life on the Eastern Shore. It has shops and restaurant near by. Usually an older crowd, school children, tourist mix type crowd. Lots of fun learning activities and amazing history.
Awesome museum! Let’s be honest once you’ve seen one shop in St. Michaels you’ve seen them all, but the Maritime museum is well worth the price of admission and is a great way to kill 3-4 hours between lunch and dinner. Also, make sure to checkout the building with all the maps of the Chesapeake Bay, a couple dating back to the late 1600’s...very cool to see!
This is a working museum. You walk amongst the ship builders and the designers As they lay out the blueprints or construct the main frames of the ship. It’s a walking tour that will take you several hours if done properly. I enjoyed every minute. Thank you for such a good job
What a lovely area to visit along the water and learn about the local history! We went during the seaglass festival, so much fun!!
Very interesting
Great museum in a beautiful location. Many nice exhibits. Keeps the attention of younger guests through interactive learning.
One of my favorite recent museum trips. They have a great location and a wonderful facility.
Fantastic museum for adults and kids alike and wonderful staff.
Nice to go to in a beautiful place.
We went for the sea glass festival that the maritime museum was hosting. Such a beautiful property with lots of cool historical building. Very educational and lots of cool venders at the festival.
So many great exhibits!! My husband and i go here once year. Very friendly staff.
Very fun! A lot to see! The lighthouse was my favorite part.
The sea glass festival this weekend is great
Airshow over St. Michaels
A great place to visit anytime but especially the ACBS show over father's day weekend
A sailboat lovers paradise. Next visit, I'm bringing pinball hammer to ring the ships bells.
Always a fun and educational adventure with family and friends. The rich heritage of the Chesapeake bay and it's naval history always on display.
Take some time and hear the stories of the area
Great museum.
Awesome. You can explore an actual lighthouse. I also saw the largest guns in the world there.
Friendly people but not a lot see however it's the offseason
Nice spot on the water. Worth a look.
Brought some out of state guests here along with my family for the day and had a wonderful time. They were able to learn so much of Maryland's rich history, which is what they came here for, and maritime museum delivered. On top of that my daughter had a blast here. This is a great place for both native and out of state to come and learn and enjoy the culture and history marylands shores have to offer.
We enjoyed our time here. There were varied exhibits, with a good selection of artifacts and realistic settings. We saw plenty in 2 hours, but could have easily spent longer.
I love this place ... each part of the tour is enjoyable... the guides are volunteers... last time I went the gates were open and we had the chance to walk around after hours, we enjoyed the sunset...is amazing!!!
Absolutely a must, family fun adventure spot. It's a great venue for events
A great place to spend time with family and friends. They have all kinds of activities and not to mention the view from the docks are gorgeous in the evening. 10/10 would recommend
Great place to spend some time.
Tons of history at a beautiful setting. Great events.
Great place to spend half a day. Ample handicap and regular parking
Well worth a visit to Historic St. Michael's. Lots of 1812 battle history and maritime life on Maryland's Eastern Shore
Incredible museum with so much great history.
great museum, nice to walk around the property. Light house allows you to go in and walk around and see how the employees lived. Worth a stop, even on a cold February day.
Friendly staff and a lot of history
Had place to myself - cold and rainy day
Perfect for taking out of state guest. Very informative volunteers and staff.
It was fun. It's a nice place to spend the afternoon.
Exceptional exhibits of Bay life and work. The life-size oyster boat with sound and motion will make you feel like you're out on the water! Don't miss the lighthouse, the Mitchell house, the docks, the waterfowl and hunting displays. All in spectacular park-like setting on the Miles River.
Awesome for a day with the family or just to get to know some things
Good food good service
Great self guided museum. Wait till 3pm and get a cheaper rate for 1hr of walk thru
One of my favorite museums because it’s so different. It is a collection of different buildings/structures and each contains its own history and artifacts. A lot was hands on, as well. Beautiful, even on a cloudy day. Absolute must-see if I’m St. Michaels, it really gives you a feel for the origins of the city. So beautiful, and so educational.
Was a great visit. Have a significant number of exhibits in about a dozen buildings, including a bay lighthouse on the property. You can get a very good picture of life on the bay and living in a small town serving bay industries.
This is a great place to learn about the maritime culture of the Chesapeake bay. With a added bonus of some of the best views available.
Lifetime memories were made this day!
If you visit St. Michaels, you have to visit this museum. One of the most unique experiences one can experience. With several different exhibits and a restored Chesapeake lighthouse, it makes for a wonderful time. They also have a rotating exhibit building which features many new and amazing photographs, paintings, and other collections. Ticket prices are worth it, especially since they are good for two days. Super fun for kids.
Lots of history, beautiful scenery, great place to bring the family.
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff
Pretty place..
I've been to this place a bunch and every time I discover something new and interesting. My kids love it too. We can spend hours here, tons of hands on things for them. The play on the boats and there imaginations go wild. The light house is so much fun, the put on the costumes and they make dinner and pretend to go to sleep. We plan on going back every time we are in town. The gift shop is a great place to get gifts for the whole family!
So much entertainment for such a low price. We had five kids ages 7yrs-18 months and they all had such a wonderful time. The exhibits were amazing and we could have spent much more time exploring everything. Very impressed.
This is our 3rd trip here. Always something new.
Always a charming visit and the view from the lighthouse deserves a must see stop !
Loved the experience, learned so much about the early days of the oyster, and crabbing business.
Very impressive!
I love it here!
Great museum for adults and kids. Hands on exhibits and a really fun boats on land that the kids can play on. Boat shop is awesome!
Great place many outbuilding comprise the entire museum. There is a real ship building warehouse, a relocated actual lighthouse, and many more building...one of them is an actual museum which is air conditioned and has interesting pictures and stories of life on the bay.... They're is an small admission fee, but it is good for two days.
Very nice displays Nice folks indeed.
The CBMM is a fun trip for all ages. Their website details activities and exhibits for the month. Visitors of all interests, enjoy the beauty of the area and the boat restoration projects. Boats of the Chesapeake should not be lost to time and neglect. Boatwrights on staff are restoring history and teaching maritime enthusiasts of all ages. Make an effort to attend launch ceremonies of the restored vessels.
Great views and interesting exhibits.
Beautiful place..although we trued to take a boat tour but apparently it wasnt open yet even tho the web site and signs said it was. So that was disappointing.
Beautiful museum. 18 acres of boat stuff. Current project being restored on sight. Very cool to see.
Had a great time! We will be back!!
Great place to learn local history and have fun too.
Cool place.
My kids could've stayed 4 hours
Sea glass festival beautiful day on the shores of the miles river
Visitor friendly
Great place to visit! Lots of history and great events!
This place was awesome! I regret that I didn’t plan to spend more than about an hour here. Definitely worth a visit.
Very well done. An accurate visit to maritime life of years ago.
Love the museum and grounds. It’s always on top of the list to visit when I have guests in town. Always a big hit.
Great visit loved it as always wonderful day
Great museum and a vast amount of information, significant historical displays, and beautiful scenery
A sprawling campus that lives up to that often promised museum mantra "for the whole family." Everyone from grandpa to granddaughter will find something fun to do. Hands on stations, static exhibits, boat rides, a decent gift shop, and plenty of restaurants in the area. A great family daytrip for anyone on the bay.
Very interesting great displays Highly Recommend
Interesting and informative. Friendly staff.
Fascinating indoor and outdoor exhibits about the maritime history and industry of the Chesapeake Bay. Lots to see, beautiful harbor views. The lighthouse is particularly interesting and fun to climb around in.
Very extensive array of displays and information about the Chesapeake Bay. If you want to truly enjoy it, prepare to stay awhile and walk a lot. You can leave for lunch then return.
Weddings are always beautiful on the water. Great place for boaters, and maritime history. The town is also a cute town.
Very well done
Feels good to be near water and history
Great place to learn the history of the Chesapeake Bay.
Great history. Quiet. Lovely
This is a great experiential museum to visit with children and learn about the Chesapeake Maritime history.
Nice place to visit. Super cool
Fun and informative! Lots to see! Went to the top of a lighthouse and saw other historical items. Greeter who met us at the entrance was very nice and pleasant!
It was really interesting and cool!
4th of July with Tony Liberto, Liberto Sisters and the Shades of Blue Orchestra. Well worth the 2hr drive to see St. Michael's fireworks and hear a great musical performance.
Very nice place to visit to see how the boats were made in the past. Knowledge
One of my favorite places! Just took close friends who had been there before. They enjoyed their first visit. Like us they will return. We love that the museum is alive with activity.
Wonderful place to learn the history of the Chesapeake bay.
Crab claw is hands down the best in St. Michaels.
Went to an outside event that took place in the boat shed, a unique and fascinating venue. Every time I go to CBMM I find something new. I love it!
It's fun
Had a great time last week with my wife and dog. It was after hours, the staff was friendly and let us walk around the grounds with our puppy. We cannot say they allow dogs for sure when it is open, but there is still a lot to see after close,as long as the lingering staff permits you on property. They sell donated boats that are in nice shape , so that's a huge plus. The proceeds help the bay.
If you love the water, history, boats, wooden boats, the bay, whatever, you have to go see this working museum. I drove 4 hours out of my way and breezed through on a trip home and it still took four hours to get through it. This place is truly a gem.
Great place for the history of water men in Maryland teaching you the crabbing oyster land how the lived in a lighthouse
Amazing place amazing people . great view..m
I was invited on a tour of the bay. I did not know what to expect, but it was great! I got a lot of history and education from the captain. The gift shop is worthy of the visit also. The staff was calming and welcoming. I enjoyed my afternoon outing.
Take your kids, take your loved ones, or just take yourself. I've been for a few festivals as well as just a walk about or two. See how everyone survived before APP stores and YOUTUBE, AMAZING.
