This is a really great museum that used to be an oyster packing facility years ago. There are three vintage wooden oyster & crab harvesting boats outside and a couple inside. Plenty of history & photos here about the Chesapeake Bay oyster harvesting industry that peaked a long time ago.

It is not fair to people in the community that have been living here for years not to be able to go to a public beach, because of a wedding. The beach is not apart of the Maritime.

A great local and often overlooked museum. The local flavor and knowledgeable staff are supported by a great location and rich history. Some have noted the opportunities for parties and wedding receptions as well. Many historical sites have included this in their work and the Maritime Museum have been very accommodating.

A gem of a museum! Inside the museum there are exhibits showing how the oysters were harvested and then canned with tons of photos. The "exploded" boat (maybe 'sawed in half' would be a better description) with a list of the parts is very cool, it lets you see just how the oyster boat is constructed. Then there are two boats outside that are very interesting as well. One is a draketail and it just looks like it is built for speed. Can't imagine working from its deck with an oyster tong in my hands... The other outside boat is a bugeye sailboat, if memory serves. Just a beautiful craft. Plus there is a very nice shaded dock area with views of the marina and creek with the bay in the background. Great place to visit! It is free, but hit the Donation jar at the entry if you can!

Former Home to McNasby Seafood & Oyster Company, the museum has permanent and rotating exhibits and host many special events, including the summertime 'Tides & Tunes' concerts as well as daily tours. The museum is host to a variety of Maritime exhibits including historic boats, scale model of Thomas Point Lighthouse, art gallery, fish tank, and the main focus Oyster harvesting and processing with a special exhibit of cannon used in the "oyster wars". Volunteers such as myself are proud to give tours about the culture and economy of Eastport Annapolis and Chesapeake Bay Heritage.

My husband and I had a courthouse wedding earlier this year but still wanted to celebrate with our family and friends at some point. We went to a rehearsal dinner at the Museum a couple of years ago and I fell in love with it. So, when we decided we wanted to have the celebration in Annapolis (my husband's hometown) I only looked at one venue. The Museum is just so unique, low-key, and genuinely Annapolis. I also loved giving our venue money to a Museum and good cause. Once we met Paige to tour the venue and knew our date was available, we were set. Paige was very responsive to our request to set up a meeting and flexible with our limited availability to meet (we do not live in the area). Since we were already married we did not have a ceremony at the Museum, just a December reception for 126 guests starting at 6pm. When you tour the space, it seems like the capacity of 150 would be tight, but we ended up having plenty of room. It was also daylight when we toured the space, so were bummed that it would be dark by the time our guests arrived and they wouldn't really get the water views, but the venue looked GORGEOUS at night. We went with all white tables, chairs, tablecloths, plateware, etc and gold accents (framed pictures, table numbers, vases, votives, etc) and white and green bouquets and it looked amazing. We had two heaters outside on the tented deck and guests loved being out there for the raw bar, drinks, apps, dessert, etc. I loved that we didn't have to worry about weather - it was nice that it didn't rain/snow for outdoor pictures prior but it would not have put a damper on the main event at all! I could go on and on about how perfect the venue was. So many guests asked us how we found it. The only downsides (which I'm not going to dock any points for since we knew all of this going in) were that the party has to end by 10pm and that buses can't get all the way down to the venue. Could not recommend AMM more!!!

Rob Dovi

Not very interesting. I room with a few pictures and a dissected boat.

This area of Annapolis is called East Port. We were doing a self guided tour using an app called "Whereigo" that a fellow Geocache had created as part of the 2018 Cache Across Maryland geocaching event. This tour took us where we had been but we're not aware of it's special community history.

Great place for public water access - two piers out into back creek for fishing, crabbing, bird watching, photography, etc. You can see the Bay Bridge and Chesapeake Bay from here. Inside you will find fun history from the waterman days of Eastport. It is also a great place to host an event. There are 3 historic boats on the premises. Don't forget to check out Wild Country Seafood closeby.

This welcoming little museum greets you with a small free parking lot and a tiny outdoor park with sturdy wooden bench, historic work boats on display, piers to view the bay, and a free public canoe launch. Inside the museum building you'll find a large aquarium you can "step into" (behind glass) with handy touch screen information, a boat kids can climb board, and interesting displays about the creatures of the Chesapeake Bay and the historical seafood industry in Annapolis. Includes nice public restrooms, a tiny gift shop, and a large rentable events room lined with regional art photography.

I have to take a moment to thank the awesome team at the Annapolis Maritime Museum for being such all stars both during the wedding planning process on our big day. My husband and I fell in love with the museum at our first visit with Cindy. It's just a special, super neat space. We loved the more industrial feel and it was definitely the "Annapolis", non-hotel, waterfront location that we were looking for. It was the first venue we looked at the one we compared all other site visits to. Even though the space is relatively compact space, it definitely works for a big event. We had 150 guests plus a band and sit down dinner and were able to make the number work comfortably by breaking down a few tables after dinner to give us some breather room for dancing. The newly tented deck is gorgeous. And despite the fact that it ended up snowing on our wedding day in April(!!!), we were able to bring in space heaters at the last minute and it made the space completely usable all night even with temperatures in the 30s (note: that took three industrial space heaters, rented through Absolute Party Rental who were also great!). I will admit that I was a higher maintenance bride. I think I made at least 10 visits to the museum pre-wedding and that's being conservative. The patience, kindness and partnership extended to me by Cindy and Paige was absolutely amazing. They made me feel like our day was important in the midst of the hundreds of other events and activities going on at the museum. They were such a pleasure to work with and our trust in them was well deserved. When it was all said and done, our wedding day was perfect and flawless and I couldn't thank these ladies enough for that. I would highly recommend the Annapolis Maritime Museum as a fantastic wedding venue and look forward to going to many other events there in the years to come!

Neat small museum specializing in the history of the oyster industry on the Chesapeake Bay. The building is an old oyster canning factory. We had a wonderful docent who had great passion for his subject. Takes about two hours to see and read everything.

Pat Floyd

No air conditioning on July 5th

Huang Harvey

Friendly staff here. Told us some interesting stories about the ships back then. And it's free.

Kenneth Kaye

This small museum is a gem. There is not only the story of oysters as an important economic influence, but the numerous hands on exhibits of the boats used to harvest them. They also have local art displayed. From their dock you will get a great view of Back Creek, the towers on Greenbury Point, and Chesapeake Bay. Unique place to have a picnic.

Lauren M

Very nice museum and venue for events. I often attend their concert series on Thursday nights during the summer. Great view of the Chesapeake Bay. Easy to pull into by boat and enjoy the music on the water.

This museum was very cute, nice small museum to visit. It seemed to be more about oyster harvesting/canning on the bay than it did about boats in general.

Well certainly not what we were expecting, but nice if you are interested in the Trumpy family history and oyster harvesting. I think we thought it was going to be more like the US Naval Academy's museum. Just know before you go that it’s focus is oysters. I will say the gentleman who greeted us was so sweet and he is a great painter.

Ramaciandra Carta

Great place, I recommend a visit
