The Arctic Museum (on the campus of Bodwin College) in Brunswick, Maine is one of very few specialised museums dealing both with the exploration of the Arctic region, its culture AND its flora and fauna. Although it is technically a branch of the college (and thus an academic institution, following rigorous intellecttual standards) in some respects significatn portions of if feel like a chilrens museums, with significant displays apealing to children fro K thhrough highschool.

Best news, they aren't moving. Current exhibit includes clothing based on old traditions but done in a more modern theme. Be sure to visit this free museum dedicated to the quest of the North and South Poles.

Very fun especially for the kiddos.

Amit Joshi

A small museum that you could easily spend over an hour in because of the fantastic exhibits they have. They cover everything from geology, clothing, tools, expeditions, and more.

Great part of history if you're ever interested in knowing who visited the artic first. The pioneers who dreaded going for long months to make the journey to the farthest north part of the globe resides in this museum. Some parts of the museum are still being either refurbished or added on, but the majority of the exhibit is completed. Learn a part of history that so many don't realize could help save the global warming epidemic going on right now. Took this photo of a snowman outside of the museum.

Very interesting museum, lots of interesting exhibits and displays, though a little tricky to find hiding inside the bowdoin college campus.

Rod Robertson

Small, but full and well curated museum about Artic exploration with a comprehensive scavenger hunt for children that doesn't interfere with the adult experience.

William Coder

Very informative and well presented. The highlight to me was the Mathew Henson story.

Kevin Carroll

Really good; Interesting historical spot. The volunteers here make the place. They’re so invested in the observatory, you can feel the interest and excitement as the tell the stories about what has happened here, since it was first built. Incoming ships, military readiness, weather predictions & the structure itself make for a worthwhile visit. You’ll be cli, bing 4-5 flights of stairs to ascend in the observatory .
