Out of the way Nice architecture

My wife and I visited Olson House last week and were blessed with a most extraordinary docent: Nancy Jones. She simply made the house and the story come alive! I took a lot of pictures that day (wish I'd had three more hours in that beautiful, soft light), but this one captured for me the love Nancy feels for what she does so well--and connects her to Christina, too.

If you are into art at all - Andrew Wyeth - specifically, this is a very interesting place to visit! Christina and Andrew’s graves are in the little cemetery by the water. Same house and barn as in Andrew Wyeth’s painting “Christina’s World.”

Wyeth. Informative tour, sort of magical house.

Sam Zebelman

Relaxing and nostalgic!

Patricia Parsons Kay

Very evocative, you can almost imagine ghosts.

Zack Cruise

Interesting place, definitely worth going to if you're in the area – but you should be familiar with Andrew Wyeth to some level in order to get the most out of it. Make sure that there is a tour available when you are going, it is filled with great insights and history.

We visit the Olson house every year. Such a beautiful place and especially imagining what Christina and Alvaro's life was like many years ago. And of course Andrew Wyeth was very much a part of their lives. If only walls cousin talk....

Totally blew me away to walk in the shadows of the Olson's and Mr. Wyeth. John, the tour guide was outstanding and offered many details. Thankfully, no gift shop...just pure essence of the history of the house and land. Parking was not a problem as the dirt road is quite lengthy.

John Greene

Magical. Visit the Farnsworth first to enhance the experience.

My dream place

This is incredible to visit and see the house from Cristina's World.

The dosent who gave the tour was wonderful. On the grounds at the family cemetery you can see Andrew Wyeth's headstone and final resting place. It loses one star because of the dreadful conditions of the road for the last 30 minutes of the drive there. Afterwards, visit the art museum in nearby Rockland. Multiple generations of Wyeth paintings. Buy the double ticket at either location for a discount

Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because the website said it was open but it wasn’t. Twice now I’ve been an it hasn’t been open. Maybe it’s seasonal and I missed that part somewhere. Even so ... I love this place.

The history of the family is fascinating.

A very poignant tour given by a wonderful docent. I don’t recall her name - Nancy(?). A retired school teacher, who had a feel for the history of the house and the generations of Hathornes who built and lived there. I was inspired to read “a piece of the world” by Christina Baker Kline which added to the story. It is beautiful place and the book gave touching insights into Andrew and Betsy Wyeth.

Our tour guide Nancy was incredible. Everything about this place was great. I assumed a lot of things would be off-limits but I guess they get a lot of respectful people because you could walk pretty much anywhere. Andrew Wyeth has been my favorite artist since I was a teen and this trip only increased that affinity. You can donate in the art gallery when the tour ends!

Responsive, patient, kind! Great selection, even better service. I wish I lived close :)

Seeing the house of Christina's World and hearing the history gave us a greater appreciation of Andrew Wyeth.

Breathtaking piece of history, the Olson House is a great visit. Take the tour relive the life of the Olson's and Andrew Wyeth. See the actual scenes that many of the world famous painting are based upon. The 2018 Jaguar Wild Berry Blast had this stop on the itinerary and i am glad it did.

It is something, when you are in this kind of places like this historical house, which appears in many drawings of Andrew Wyeth!!! Visit the house ( you have to book online, otherwise they won't let you in) and get the spirit of one very talented and famous painter of our times!!!!

Christina's World is a painting that evokes a sense of sadness, perseverance and loss. The house is a must see for fans of the painting and the history behind the Olson brother and sister.

American artist Andrew Wyeth's famous 20th century painting Christina's World was done here.

Jack Van Antwerp

Great piece of American Art history. Not to be missed.

Even though it has almost 10 years since I visited the Olson House, this has to be one of my most memorable places. As an art teacher I came in with background knowledge of Andrew Wyeth and being here in this house with its wealth of history was SO moving. I can only hope that someone still conducts a tour with the same background knowledge as the one I experienced. Standing and looking at the actual blue door, the subject of the painting in memory of Christina Olson while I read the story of the painting brought me to tears. I hope that things are still the same. I stumbled on this location after a visit to the Farnsworth Museum and got there at the time of the tour just by chance. It is highly worth the trip.

Laura Cabot

A national tresaure, now being endowed by thehe Farnsworth Art Museum. Well worth the side trip

F. Carl Mahoney

This 18th-c. structure and its inhabitants was a focal point of inspiration to as accomplished an American artist as exists. The opportunity to develop insights into Andrew Wyeth's chosen environments and the reasons underlying his choice is actually quite spectacular.

This place will bring to life the paintings by Andrew Wyeth as well as a better understanding of Christina's world. A definite place to stop if you are travelling near Rockland, Rockport or Camden. If you are fortunate enough to get Nancy as your tour guide, you will not only be entertained but the history of the house and its occupants will come to life as she tells the story of them all.
