A decent lighthouse museum.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful and super interesting museum! We loved it, you have the whole history of the lighthouse keepers, how important they were especially in the past when there was no light on the boats. It also explains how it was a lighthouse before the artificial light, and the mechanism of the more modern headlights, that when there is fog and you can not see the light, how important were the bells, the size and the way of sounding. We go a lot of curiosities that you can not imagine, it's all a super interesting micro world. We hallucinate with the replica of the Tower of Hercules of La Coruña, of Spain! It was one of the first lighthouses of the Roman era !! We recommend it if or if, and visit the store, it has lovely drawn shells !!

Excellent museum! For some reason Google is calling it a small collection of lighthouse artifacts when in fact the museum is home to the largest collection of lighthouse, life-saving and U.S. Coast Guard artifacts in the nation. The museum is now open Thursday-Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm until Memorial Day when they will be open seven days a week. The museum is located at One Park Drive in Rockland overlooking Rockland Harbor and beautiful Penobscot Bay.

Has some nice exhibits. It is located in the Rockland Chamber of Commerce building. It does have an $8 entrance fee. It has two video exhibits and many variety of lights, lenses, and various other lighthouse perfinalia. Overall could use some updating but worth the entrance fee.

There are museams associated with a number of lighthouse, Pemaquid and Marshall for example, but there collections aren't nearly as extensive as this museam.

the museum had a lot of very interesting pieces. Many fresnel lenses and lights which are always great. There is a lot of historical information as well. we really enjoyed it. they had a separate section on women in Lighthouse history and a small section on the u. s. Coast Guard.

Here you'll find the largest collection of lighthouse and maritime artifacts available under one roof. Many of the artifacts were purchased by Ken "Mr Lighthouse" Black prior to his death. The modest gift shop has an assortment of items sure to please. The Maine Lighthouse Museum MUST BE on the bucket list of any and every lighthouse enthusiast.

LD LD

I'm sure it's got interesting info but it's just a small museum at the back of the town's Chamber of Commerce. The place is run by elderly people and they're usually busy talking rather than manning the place. You do need to pay an admission fee. The sign says to wait at the gift shop counter so I waited. I left when I realized that I was being ignored. I wish I didn't make the trip here but in retrospect, the scenery and drive over was worth the disappointment. If I had time, I would've done the Lighthouse Trail instead and completely skipped this.
