A visit to Burnham Tavern is like a mini-Williamsburg experience! Expect to be greeted and tour with a docent dressed in period costume and full of scholarly, local history, anecdotes and tips. I kept reminding myself, "OMG - this is ACTUALLY where American history took place! OMG - right here in THIS tavern!" The Burnham Tavern is rich in Revolutionary War history and in it's knowledgable staff. The town is quaint and easily traveled on foot. It's a great stop for families traveling up the scenic Route 1 through coastal Maine. There is room to park, get out stretch your legs and walk the through Bad Little Falls Park while you're there.

Robert Atwood

Great historical site of the ACTUAL 1st naval battle of the American Revolution. Run by the local DAR. Recommend a visit.

From what we could see was great piece of history but planning on coming back when open so if in area just check hours but worth the stop if you like history

Alan Pease

Nice colonial building with lots of history and a good collection of artifacts.

Jeffrey Hilbert

I can't find anything else about who used to own it and who built it so I won't visit.

Sarah Dedmon

Extraordinarily knowledgeable volunteers guide you through a hidden gem of American history. Every time I visit, I'm amazed at what transpired in this sleepy little town. If you're a history buff, you won't want to miss it.

Jennifer Harmon

Great historical site

Karen Bench

Excellent historic tavern. Wish it had longer hours. Very informative guide. Not in the history books? The first navel battle of the American Revolution? Should be in history books. Men with pitch forks against an armed British Naval ship? Why are we not taught this?

John Stutz

Very neat! Great informative tour.
