This Museum belongs to the category of Museum.
The volunteers were very polite and helpful! Had a great time, and took a lot of awesome pictures!
A great experience for rail fans of many ages. Incredible model railroad setup, impressive antique auto collection, and lots of history and imagination.
This place is great for anyone with children who loves trains
We all had a great time. We had gone to the Wiscasset, Waterville, and Farmington Railway earlier, but the Boothbay RW Village just has more to do, but the W.W.F RW is a longer train ride.
Take my advice.
Great fun with my kid, staff is incredibly friendly!
A wonderful museum on 20 acres. Plenty for young and old alike. Be sure to take a ride on their antique narrow gauge railroad.
Love this place. Very nice people staff it and all sorts of old cars, fire engines and much more. Go every time I am here.
Very friendly family atmosphere
Great place to go and visit
Fantastic GO!
Fun family night
Really fun
Great place to visit and learn about antique cars and railroads in Maine. Especially during the Fall Foliage Festival.
Nice, but wish it was historically accurate. The location used to be empty farm land. No trains ever passed through there if I'm correct...
The museum and train ride were fun. Going back in the summer for the model train room
Great place to visit historical and fun for all ages
Took my family there today absolutely great experience for kids and adults .... Great place
My grand daughter loved it
More exhibits than we thought. Not expensive. Good place for kids, fun train ride. Beautiful classic car collection.
I came with I'm family and had a great time.
The antique car collection is very impressive
Amazing tine with the family.
What a great place. Was thinking it was just going to be a few barbs with trains to look at but was completely amazed at them having a whole historic village, massive car collection, model train village as well as trains and a train ride set in beautiful grounds. Spent an easy 3 hours here. Staff incredibly friendly too.
Fun place. Staff very nice.
Been going here for 30 years and will always stop in for a great visit.
Excellant little museum. Especially enjoyed the train station models
Pleasant surprise! The miniature train display is amazing!
My family and I bought tickets for the "North Pole Express". Included was a short but fun train ride, cocoa and cookies, crafts, and access to the museum and historic buildings onsite. The experience was worth every bit the $20 per ticket price. We are planning to go back in the summer to explore everything more fully.
Great museum and friendly/informative staff
My kid love this place
Lots and of fun but go on a cool day.
Great fun at the fair look for to seeing that fairy year
We had a Great Time riding the Christmas Train to Santa's Village..The Grandkids Loved it...and having cookies and coco and making ornaments after the train ride was terrific...
A super visit. Very friendly staff and volunteers. A gem of a spot in Central Maine. Great history
Train ride is very short and slow, disappointed.
Great history
Fun place, lots of old transportation exhibits including cars and firetrucks in addition to the railroad exhibits. Very dog-friendly!
Very educational, great for kids.
It's OK I guess
We enjoyed the train ride and all the interesting things the Boothbay Railway has to offer, like the car museum with so many vintage cars of various makes, and old Town Hall which was moved to this location. Also there are many attractions for the very young.
We all had a surprisingly good time. We love the lady engineer running the train the day we were there. She is enthusiastic about her job. We had a wonderful cost with her between train rides, and her enjoyment in everything she does came through. The gentleman in the car display garage had an amazing amount of knowledge about all the antique vehicles under his care. It was definitely an enjoyable afternoon for 2 teenage kids, their parents and one grandmother.
Great tribute to the past. 60 antique autos, model train exhibit, and so much more. Worth the stop.
Check out this festival
Great place to visit with the family, or just go to get away for the day. Train and History bluffs will love it. They even have a building full of antique cars. You can spend as little or as long as you like walking the grounds. Would be a great place for lunch. We will be going back.
Plenty of interesting exhibits to see and lots of space for the kids to run and play. A whole day can be planned. Go first thing in the morning with a packed picnic lunch. Then, you can ride the train as often as you like during the day and take your time exploring.
Friendly staff
A brilliant place for kids big and small. Vintage cars, model railway exhibit, and small gauge working railway. Along with historical buildings.
Fun spot for the kids, especially when Thomas is in town
What a great place to spend your day at! We enjoyed the train ride as well as the museum exhibitions! the items are carefully taken care of and well organized. You will see and learn a lot. Kids love feeding the goats. I personally enjoyed the pavilion with running toy trains- so fun! The place is affordable. You even can come back next week to ride for free if you save your receipt. We enjoyed our visit very much- have made some great memories today. Thank you to all Railway Village staff for making it happen.
Excellent place for a family
My 3 year-old loved this place! So much to see and do; but the train ride was his favorite part. I liked that it was self-directed and the village gave us lots to explore. We had great conversations for several days about what we had seen.
Awesome vehicles and riding the train was amazing!
It served the purpose of entertaining the children for a few hours.
Cheap family fun!
A really neat place that leaves you feeling like you just stepped into a time machine and went back in time. Awesome place to go and a great place for kids.
The Railroad Museum at Boothbay never disappoints. Beautiful during the Fall season. A great place to visit for all ages.
Polar express train ride. Goodies for guests, hot chocolate, Santa visit & postcard. Tickets sold out & in advance. Tight parking. Limited personal facilities. Old trains to explore. Fun!
Wonderful history and you can ride the train
Very cool must see
Plan on a full afternoon here. Kid friendly but anyone should find something of interest here. We found our experience was met with knowledgeable and professional staff working to educate and entertain. Don't miss the gift shop.
Loved the train ride when the kids were younger and the classic car shed. The customer service was really bad! I had a toddler and an elderly family member with me. No restroom access till the open even if they we in the shop. Would walk by you and not greet you or even speak with you. My family has a history of always visiting every year. I plan my vacation around taking my kids and other family members here. I have decided this is our last year. The items they are preserving don't look like they have had care in a while. And they charge a lot for not a very good experience. They are not veteran friendly. They will give you a discount if your active duty only. Don't know many active duty individuals that have time to vacation for fun. You can hide the wear and tear form the young but with older children it's not much fun. My kids used to look forward to visiting and making more memories. Talk about their past visits. But this year we decided the cost verse the experience wasn't worth it. The only thing that saved the moral this trip was the train house. They build replicas of all different trains. Really enjoyed playing with all the train sets. Brought back an experience from my childhood.
Very neat thing for the kiddos but at the same time I was glad we didn't spend the extra money for the V.I.P experience.
Great family stop
Very cool place if you are interested in trains and history! They have a narrow gauge train you can ride on, a decent automobile collection, a nice ho model train setup and some great history on narrow gauge railway in Maine.
Fantastic place, so much to do and see.
This place has a large room full of working model trains in a setting that looks like a Maine town in the 50s. They also have a collection of early cars and trucks.
Train rides with several interesting exhibits to explore. Good family fun.
Been going since I was a kid!
We took our 3 1/2 year old Grandson . He loved it ! Thomas the Engineer was so friendly and engaging :) Easy to see that he enjoys his job . Lots to see and do including swings, sandbox , and feeding the goats . Plenty of room to run too ! Thank You for a great visit !
Lots of fun! Kids love it. We visit every summer. We went a couple weeks ago and it looks like they are redoing some of the older exhibits. Can't wait to see it next year!
This place gets better every time I come here and I've been going for 35 years! A must see if your in the boothbay region. They have been working on a life like model train set for the last 17 years, it's quite large and it is absolutely incredible!
Very cool museum setup. The small village gives the area a fun feel, and allows for a lot of exploring. Definitely come here for the Polar Express (for Christmas).
Well worth the cost of admission! So much to see and explore. Everything is well maintained and all the workers are super friendly and willing to answer all of your questions! Pleasantly surprised!
More to see than meets the eye! From the road, you can't see much, but behind the old train station is a whole "village" and every building has an interesting exhibit. Head so the way to the back and find a barn full of classic cars and trucks!
A lot of family fun!
Love this place. My one year old son loves the trains. He kept waving to the engineer!
Wonderful, educational and un time!!
Such an amazing place to bring your kids to. Staff was great to us. Look at the schedule for the trains. The steam engine days are our favorite for the kids
Wonderful car exhibit. Just fabulous. Very quaint and relaxing.
Loved it. Nice family day
We have annual membership because boys 1 and 3 years old just love the train rides, train models, place to run around and so much to explore
Cute little rail cars
The collection of antique cars is impressive, and on the weekends they might just have an old Model T circling around on the central green for kids to ride in.
Beautiful. Spend the day it's worth the trip
Very fun place
Another great railway village to go too. My dad brought me here last summer and we both enjoyed it a lot. Most of all, I love the train ride of course. This place even has a history as well.
Awesome place to bring your family.
Nice little reserved railway museum in town of Boothbay Maine
A lot to see and fun.
Great assortment of Maine railroad history.
Loved this place and the history of the narrow-scale rails!
I really had fun here. When my sister first told me we were going I snarked at how it would take us five minutes but they have a lot of great history and a lot of really intricate displays. The volunteers are very knowledgeable. Overall it’s a great little side stop over.
We went here for the Polar Express. Keep your expectations reasonable and you will love it. You won’t see Tom Hanks and don’t expect the train to race but overall it’s a great experience. The staff were friendly and professional, especially the conductor and engineer. The conductor was dressed in an authentic Polar Express outfit and let us take pictures with our children. The engineer took time to explain how the train works and is maintained to my very curious son. He was great. All the folks in the village were wonderful as well. We had cookies, hot chocolate, went to story time, and got treats in he gift shop. I would recommend this for younger kids for sure.
Always a good time. This place uses aluthentic narrow gauge railroads. The same type that was used in maine in the 19th and early 20th century from portland to the Sandu River and Rangely Lake narrow gauge Railroad. This is great for the family. The exhibits are always great.
Friendly staff. Very Informative visit.
Fun for all ages
Great bunch of car guys
An interesting place to visit. I felt like I was stepping back in time!
Awesome cars my grandfather used to work on cars like these
Very nice preserved and recreated history.
My girls had a lot of fun on Museum's North Pole Express, even with lack of snow.
Great time. Railroad is kept in comfortable condition. The miniature set of trains is fantastic. The old vehicles they have on display Jay Leno would love to add to his collection. Great display. Great time walking the grounds and riding the railroad.
We spent the morning here with our kids. They had a great time. They have some fun stuff for the kids to climb on. The train ride was short but fun.
Great history, fun for the whole family.
Nice place to take the family for the afternoon. Takes you back in time with the vintage trains and building. Beautiful location for a picnic, family reunion or wedding.
Had a great time with our 17 month old, he fed the 2 goats they have there and loved sitting on the big red fire truck. Great place for him to run around the grass areas. Us adults enjoyed the vintage car collection, ol' timey school house/home displays and also feeding the goats, brings the kid out of you(Get it. Kid. I crack myself up). Riding the train was a great time. Everyone working there is so friendly. It's free for active duty military and their family which was great and gave us the opportunity to spend money in the gift shop.
Loved this place! Riding the old steam engine train and touring the antique car museum was very exciting.
Awesome place! Friendly people, beautiful exhibits. Wonderful model train show as well.
A very nice museum with an amazing vintage cars garage. Great for kids and adults.
Fun place for kids and adults. Great antique car collection.
Great wedding venue. Everyone loved cocktail hour with the train!
It was an awesome day. Had so much fun. Can't wait for next year
This was great! I wish we had more time there. The kids loved it and everyone was really nice and knowledgeable.
Visited and rode the train complete with a visit from Santa. A wonderful experience! Highly recommended.
Rail fans day. Wonderful displays, steam locomotives, one of the best model railroad layouts I have seen, knowledgeable, friendly staff A great day all around!
We loved this!! The train ride was enjoyable and the antique car museum was awesome!! We had a great time walking around looking at all the relocated and renovated buildings. Plus the staff is incredibly friendly and informative. It's a must see if you're in the area!
Always a favorite place to go for the kids. Good memories
train dose a loop twice and then you get off this is aweful don’t recommend!
For many years we have been enjoying this wonderful museum + playground + train ride + outdoor exploration! The annual family membership is the way to go! $75 for your entire family.
Very good
Perfect place to take your kids for the day!
if you like old trains, old cars and artifacts of rural Life from the 1800s and 1900s you will love this place. my son loved it he is four. I am not really into trains or cars but I found it quite interesting. the cars and the trains are the best part. There are several other buildings : an old apocethary, an old hardware store etc. but the Train Museum, the running steam train , and the car museum are by far the best curated and the best explained. Several old authentic buildings are interesting too. A town hall etc.. all in all highly recommended. The ticket is not cheap but it is a huge place......
Fantastic Christmas experience!
Great time would do it again
We had never been the lady at the front was amazing, she was so excited to tell us all about it there ! Made us feel at home an welcomed ! The train ride was amazing an it's price is awaone . They have so much to check out for the hole family . We will be going back again
Candlelight & cocktails on the rails was the absolute best way to kick of the holiday season. Very well done. Spirits were awesome , thank you to Sweetgrass for providing them.
The. Best museum ever
Always a great place to bring the kids, the train ride is always the highlight. No food on site unless they are having an event but there is a Variety Store just across the road if you're hungry.
Excellent place to visit
Good day out with Fred and Scott . Lots of precious memories made
My son loved this place. It was great experiences. The train rides were so fun. We will definitely go back if we're in the area.
Fantastic place to visit. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about everything there. They really know how to show you a good time. Don't miss this!!!!!!

It was so cool to see
Great place, funny
my son loved it. he has an obsession with trains and it was great for him
Great place, very welcoming. Nice train rides
A great place to take the kids. We went for the trains, tails, and ales event. It was great!
The owner wasn't friendly felt like it was a bother. The wife in the store is awesome
A great spot to visit! Train takes you around in a circle 2 times, drops you off at Antique car barn, with lots of fascinating vehicles. Lots of fun out buildings with time period antiques.
Great place to take kids of all ages. The train ride is short and fun. The museums are interesting. I love that they let foster families of maine in for free!
Fun and low-key Americana experience from the early 20th century. Lots of old vehicles and a working steam locomotive train to ride. The volunteers are good-natured and knowledgeable.
Fun time for the whole family! From the train ride to each individual museum its s great time! It's set up as a small town and it has all you could want. One new thing this year I noticed was a ride in one of the antique cars!!!! This was the highlight for me. My kids loved the 2 goats they have on the property that you get to feed. I love this place and enjoy my yearly visit!
It's small. It's cute. It is not an original railroad line, but original pieces. There are some random collections. The Salt and Pepper house is one that is random. My son loves the train. Your train ticket is good for the whole day. The train runs every hour.
Lots of fun!
Fantastic place to bring your kids. Train rides, model train room, antique car exhibit, goat feeding...it has it all.
Great stop. They've got a train you can ride. A bunch of old buildings, a car museum, hundreds of salt and pepper shakers, a model train room and a train museum and much more
Facinating place to visit. Amazing.
We had a wonderful time, if you are in the area, must make it a stop to see
Very good place to spend time with kids.
Great restorations of old cars and model trains. Fun train ride around the museum.
Went for Ghost Train ride...had a lot of fun on the train and trick-or-treating throughout the village.
great little surprise
Great place for train enthusiasts
We visited in June 2017 and it was well worth the cost of admission. Our kids had fun and the adults stayed entertained. Not touristy and definitely not a trap. It's a good half-day adventure for a family.
