For a hot sauce lover, this a trip and tour you must make and see. Avery Island is so beautiful with alligators, deer, and birds everywhere. The self guided tour gives you a chance to explore the Tabasco facility at your own pace. The gift shop has everything Tabasco imaginable. We picked up some Scorpion sauce which is only available at the store and online. We spent half a day on the island, ending our trip with lunch at the Tabasco restaurant. All in all, a great experience.
Great way to spend a few hours. I am a hot sauce lover so this was my Disney Land! The factory is rich in history and you can smell tabasco in the air when you step out of the car. The store has a lot of fun Tabasco gear and free samples of their products. I bought the Scorpion hot sauce which is only available at the Tabasco store or online. I also bought the spicy garlic dill pickles and added the Scorpion sauce to them for a really spicy treat. We had lunch at the restaurant and had the build your own Bloody Marys. They pour a very generous amount of Titos and there are plenty of garnishments. We even kept the glasses all for $10 each. The food was cafeteria style but very good. All in all a fun experience!
Outstanding museum and self-guided tour that shows off the process of making the world-famous hot sauce and the surprisingly prominent role the McIlhenny family has played in the last 150 years of American history. Takes about an hour all told. The restaurant has a nice selection of local fare, and the country store has every kind of Tabasco merchandise imaginable. Well worth the drive out to see it and Avery Island in general.
Great collection of sauces with different spicy levels. You will get some for your taste bud.
Just very interesting place full of history. The Jungle Garden would be best in the spring but still a very nice tour I highly recommend.
If you are travelling between Lafayette and New Orleans, a stop at the Tabasco Factory is well worth it. With the admission fee, they give you 4 tiny souvenir bottles. The self-guided tour is very informative and includes the greenhouse, some of the processes in making your favorite Tabasco sauces, some free tasting at the gift shop and a tour of the different buildings. I suggest spending 2-3 hours here. They also have a restaurant here. Parking is free.
Everybody knows about Tabasco, so it’s fun to tour some of the factory where it is made. The “tour” is self guided so you an choose your own pace and time. Numbered stops guide you through the various buildings and placards give you the history as well as the method for making this popular hot sauce. When you buy your ticket, they give you some tiny bottles for keepsakes. The adjoining gardens are worthwhile also.
Self guided tour with nice stops and included samples.
Very interesting historically speaking. Very clean and beautiful grounds
Lots of walking required but super interesting look at the fascinating history of Tabasco. Amazing things to find out in the museum especially about how it got started and the impact the Mc Ilhenney family has has on our nation and around the world. Very informative. Beware of coming when school tours are there.
I love the History and authenticity of Avery Island La and am proud to work here!
This place is an incredible experience with well-kept grounds and knowledgeable staff and lots of relics and artifacts to verify the history of the property. There is a wonderful Tabasco gift shop and another gift shop as well. Overall I spent $125 for a three and a half hour visit the money was spent in the gift shop mostly and $25 was spent to tour the entire property. The only reason that I give four stars instead of five is because the restaurant was closed for a board members party. My visit was April 27th 2019 from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. I recommend the trolling of this location and I would return myself for future visits.
Who knew?! Self guided tour was great. Beautiful complex that takes you through the whole process.
Always a great experience. Beautiful grounds where the factory is and the jungle garden. Very sceneic
Cool history and very well maintained. Also the gift shop isn't overpriced and has a lot of free samples. Worth the drive
Had a blast from the past! Got hot spicy pickles, Tabasco green beans and chili starter! Definitely try the ice cream there! Fun for all
The museam and history was cool but the smell of some of the areas made me nauseous so much so I couldn't be there and experience it for more than 2 minutes. The restuarant left something to be desired as well. I got thr chicken popersnwas warned how spicy they were and was excited to try them. However they came out bland and way too greasy to eat. They did offer to give me something else but between the previously mentioned smells and the grease I felt if I are anything else I'd have been throwing up.
Enjoyed our visit. Nice gift shop.
Great history and great food! Tobasco sauce sampling was amazing! Hot sauce ice cream should not be ignored! Worth exploring!
Very informative. Amazing to learn how to make pepper sauce.
Great way to learn about a very popular hot sauce. Self guided so you can go at your own pace.
It was a great tour. Nice that you can go your own pace as it is self guided. Free parking. The staff were all very nice and knowledgeable about the brand. Enjoyed sampling unique foods like tobasco soda. 4 stars because the restaurant was closed the particular day we went, but otherwise loved the experience
Great for a daytime trip with the family! Kids learned a bunch from our visit!
Everything great except no senior citizens discount in the restaurant
Really neat. Great restaurant on site.
Great products, interesting history of the company and family. The only disappointment is that I didn't try Tabasco earlier in my lifetime.
EXCELLENT and so much to learn. Had no idea that Tabasco is 3 yes in the making b4 it's in the bottle
What a history. This is a self guided tour. Make sure you hit the cafe...there you can sample 15 different types of Tobasco sauses; including the scorpion sause and ghost chili. But, be careful! Those sauses are no joke. Have water or milk handy.
It was a worthwhile tour BUT going on weekends when nothing is going on and seeing the process in action would have been better. Also their cooking classes and one other are only during the week. The country store had lots of stuff and the restaurant 1868 has some descent eats as well. If you like bourbon, they will give you a sample of the George Dickel made with tabasco barrels. Nice sweet finish.
Nice self guided tour. Very interesting. Reasonably priced. Good food at restaurant. Sauces are great!
Awesome place! Was so worth the drive! My teenagers enjoyed it so much! Loved how it's your own pace. The history is amazing. We spent almost a hour trying samples and looking at all the merchandise. Defentaly not a disappointment.
This is the second time that we've been here, and it was very nice.
Fun stop on our cross country road trip! We ❤ Tabasco & enjoyed getting to see it's process & history. All 8 destination points on the self guided tour are pretty close together. It's an easy, enjoyable walk. *The factory doesn't run on the weekends* but you can still see the facility. My husband loved the tasting area in the gift shop. They produce more products than we knew! The upgrade to do the Jungle Garden is a must. My 3 kids (ages 1 - 6) enjoyed getting to play on the old jeep out front, playing in the kids section in the gift shop, finding the destination numbers as we went from place to place & seeing an alligator from our car in the Jungle Garden. A great, memorable trip for our whole family!
This is a must see if you visit Cajun territory. It is self guided. Great people work there. There is a restaurant and a Tabasco store. Take the nature trail if you can.
Such a fun tour. And the little Tabasco store is the cutest thing. They have everything from ties and aprons to candies and sample sizes of Tabasco sauce. Highly recommend for anyone visiting around that area!
Almost heaven. Tabasco affectionados this is a must stop visit. Nice factory tour for a simple process. Good gift shop with variety. Restaurant nice menu items that worked well to sample all of the Tabasco products. Ice cream samples in the gift shop were a nice touch. The Scorpion sauce will definitely light you up. Hope you're around for another hundred years
Awesome place kids had a blast doing the self tour.
This place is just awesome. They tell you the history of Tabasco sauce and the founders as well. The legacy of it and everything that you will need to know. Definite learning experience!
Very nice and had lots of history... Awesome place to visit
Big fan of Tabasco, used it in every MRE I ate when in the Marines. This tour is really cool, worth the time and money spent to drive out to it. I had the crawfish nachos at the restaurant and they were delicious. Will definitely try and come back.
Enjoyed seeing the factory and history of my favorite hot sauce of 30+ years and sharing with my daughter! Great gift shop!
Insanely cheap for the tour. We did the self guided tour on a midday Friday. There weren't a lot of guests walking around and we were able to take our time reading the exhibits and taking in the surroundings. It was a great informative visit. We ate at the restaurant on-site and it was very good, of course there were lots of sauces on the tables to sample. We made our lat stop in the gift shop with some wonderful sauces and they gave a jar of okra to every guest. The total time was about 2 hours for $5 entry. We only did the tour of the factory. A+
I'm a fan of Tabasco, although admittedly it was just another hot sauce till I went here. I don't know if it was an authentic member of the Avery family tasting the mash or smell of the warehouse of aging hot sauce, but Tabasco is now top tier stuff in my book.
Self guided tour so you can take your time.... Very informative, fantastic friendly staff. They had answers for all our questions. Lunch at the cafe was very good and we got to try every single tobasco product. Highly recommend
Aliitle pricey but enjoyed the self guided tour wasnt interactive or exciting
An interesting experience on Avery Island. I am a big hot sauce fan and enjoyed the self-guided tour along the beautiful grounds. The museum does a great job of explaining the history and processes of making the hot sauce. My wife and I were especially glad to hear that the business is still family owned, despite its size. A must visit!
We took a two hour detour from our drive home to Texas to Avery Island. Cost was reasonable to tour a small museum. Self guided tour gives you a peek into a hot house, barrel storage, mashing, blending and the bottling facility. Print in display cases was well sized for reading without glasses. Gift shop and indoor areas were well air conditioned. Free parking and adequate seating outside the gift shop. Did not try the restaurant. Taste testing in the gift shop was a fun aspect of the tour. The scorpion sauce is good if you dare.
It's worth the trip down, as long as you know it's a drive from New Orleans. Tabasco is so central to Louisiana's (and America's) food that I loved being able to see how the peppers are grown, cooked and aged to make Tabasco. There is a cafeteria-Style restaurant serving up dishes all featuring their various products. Here's the important thing: none were too spicy. Their whole thing is that Tabasco makes other food taste better by balancing flavors. They also had a tasting bar in the store where you could try new flavors and even Tabasco infused favorites like ice cream or Coke, which was fun. It's a well-run clean self-guided tour that won't disappoint hot sauce fans. Oh and they give everyone three sample bottles of different flavors--nice touch!
Great place. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking and a great gift shop. Come see how the hot sauce is made. They also give you free samples. Take the island tour. You can walk it,drive it or bike it .( 3 miles) You can rent a bike if you don't have one.
Great educational tour. Friendly staff
Great fun! The factory is located in a rural part of Louisiana, but it's in a beautiful locale. We did the self-guided tour and saw a greenhouse, barrel warehouse, gift shop, and restaurant. We were kind of rushed because we showed up late and they closed at 4:00. The pulled pork sandwich and sausage and beans were delicious.
Great history...highly recommended. Will totally be seeing Tabasco in a diffrent way. We loved the self tour very intresting.
It was amazing loved it has cool history and a good tour of the factory where they make it and how it's made the best thing to me it was self guided so you could go where you wanted to to see everything and if you go on a week day you could see it on the bottling line running and them making it out to ship and they have a nice gift shop and when you get tickets the give you a little bottle of Tabasco like a little keepsake
So interesting to hear the history and see the factory and the grounds. Absolutely beautiful. So many birds.
Very interesting if you are curios on how they make tobasco suave
We spent and hour on the tour and hour in the gift shop. It is a self guided tour, the second thing you do is visit the the Tabasco mash,. The mash does not smell that great but it kick starts your ofactory senses, Next you go to the processing room, the smells have greatly improved, you can smell the spicy heat, (it's not overpowering, just good). Then, you go to the bottling room, the aroma now is a little milder but even better. When you start heading to the gift shop you already to buy every type of Tabasco that is made.
The tour is self-guided and easy to do. Everything is fairly close to each other and there are videos to watch. The gift shop is cramped, and at the time the Men's restroom only had 1 working urinal, but the staff was nice and there is plenty of gifts that a reasonably priced. The food was decent but pricey.
Very interesting factory tour. The Jungle Tour was very cool with sights suck as Buddah, aligators, birds and even bamboo.
Could have shown us a little more. But still pretty cool.
Something for everyone to see. And the food was great
I’ve driven coast to coast a few times and know that I’ve passed by close to this place every time. Decided to stop in on a recent road trip and glad I did. Amazingly well documented history of the family that brought spice to so much of my food. Highly recommend the tour which takes you through the history and then shows the growing, blending and bottling. And in true modern tourist trap fashion, the final stop is in the gift shop. Plenty of Tabasco-themed items from shirts to cookbooks to bottle openers. Plenty of samples of Tabasco sauces and food available as well - soda, ice cream, etc.
Enjoyed watching the manufacturing process. It was fun sampling all tastes. Recommended for Tabasco lovers.
We visited the Tabasco Factory Tour on Good Friday. Although the plant was not open the tour was still informative. I would allow for at least a two or three hours if you intend to eat as well. . See my review of 1869 separately. Good tour, probably wouldn't take the tour again but would visit the store! Urban Cowgill April 2019
Food court sucked, but had fun seeing behind the scenes
A very interesting tour to check out while in Louisiana! The staff was super friendly and it was an overall amazing experience!
Enjoyed the factory/museum and especially loved the sampling of the different sauces, the chili and ice cream were absolutely delicious! Recommend this and fun items to purchase as well as the sauces!
Pretty cool self guided tour. I would have liked more info on the barrels and growing the peppers.
We had such a fun time here! The whole family enjoyed the factory tour and lunch at the on-site restaurant.
Awesome!!!!!!! The self-guided tour is interesting, the museum was exceptional, and the food was the real surprise! I had the sampler at the restaurant which included sausage gumbo, crawfish etouffee, and rice and beans, and a Bloody Mary. Very reasonably priced, and very good! Oh! And a tasting bar in the gift shop! That was a lot of fun! I will most certainly be back ...
Neat place to tour, fully stocked gift shop, and friendly staff.
What a hidden gem! The grounds are amazing. Loved the store, the self-guided tour was perfect, the restaraunt was fun and food was pretty good - dozens of Tabasco flavors to try at every table. The bloody Mary bar was a definate treat as well. Worth the drive. An amazing surprise! (The barrel storage area has a very poignant smell, recommend holding your breath!). Thank you, Tabasco, for all you do for our troops!! Fans for life!
It was so nice, people were friendly.. that gift shop was not overpriced.. good family place and time spent with the family..
Excellent tour. Very informative and interesting. Highly recommended.
Great self guided tour. Kind staff. They didn’t even mind that I opened a water bottle before paying when the scorpion sauce nearly took my life
It's a great learning experience and fun two but if you go to stop 3 cover your nose
The Tabasco factory was great if your looking for something to do in that area! In the gift shop there is a line of samplers, we never knew Tabasco had so many varieties. The museum was very informative and got you to appreciate the history as well as the different methods to make a hot sauce. All in all we really enjoyed this stop!
Cute tour for those around here who haven't been
More interesting than I expected. Liked self guided tour, very well laid out. History of Tobasco really interesting.
Great self guided tour of factory and museum. Also has a country store and small restaurant to grab a quick bite. Get the combo pass to drive thru Jungle Gardens. Beautifully landscaped and a relaxing drive seeing wildlife, magnificent live oaks and bamboo. Anazing!!!
Great tour, indoor and outdoor things to see. We visited on a Sunday but we will return on a weekday to see the factory when it's running. There is a tasting area about 3/4 of the way through with a staff member to explain the sauces and additional ways to serve and enjoy it. The staff was extremely nice, the shop was well stocked and has items for tourists, locals, out of town family and children. The restaurant was good, basic tray and lunchroom server, but a variety of dishes, drinks, and deserts. The vegetation is beautiful, with large live oaks, huge sections of bamboo as well as many native plants. Make sure to bring a camera! We can't wait to go back and bring some out of town guests.
This 1 star is for the restaurant. We walked in at 3:40, 20 minutes before closing. Before we had a chance to really walk in, one lady was looking at us like we shouldn't be there. Bot a second later, the lady at the cash register said they were serving nothing but drinks. I asked if they were closed, and the 3rd lady responded "we close at 4". Which again, is 20 minutes later. Not very welcoming. Obviously they were ready to go. Hopefully management will see this and give that some attention. After enjoying the tour, it would had been nice to grab some food, but I guess you need to get there way before closing time. Not very good service...
Love the history. The gift shop is awesome. The cafe has great food definitely worth the stop.
Well laid out tour, friendly staff and sauce sampling. Worth a stop if you're in the area. The tour is self guided and provides a good mix of history and process. The exhibits are top notch and well thought out. In the general store you can sample the various sauces, a Tabasco flavored ice cream and cola. When we were there the restaurant was closed for renovations, however they dod have a food truck which served some of their items with various sauces, tasty. We spent about two hours on the tour, general store and food. You could make a day trip as there are other things to see on Aver Island.
Self guided tour was nice. Gift shop sells all the varieties of Tabasco, including the scorpion sauce which can be hard to find at the local grocery store.
Wonderful I loved the self guided tour and everyone was extremely helpful and friendly.
Lots of fun more than you would expect. Not so much for real young children.
Friendly associates fast receiving... See you all next trip
This was a genuinely enjoyable experience! The food at the restaurant was delicious and an accurate representation of what Louisiana cooking is for visitors. The tour was self guided and super informative, and jungle gardens was to die for!
This is a really neat tour and definitely worth the stop if you're passing through town! Some really interesting facts and stories that go along with Tabasco! The history of this place is amazing
It was amazing! Now, i hate leaving the house to go into the heat, but this was 100% worth it. First of all, a fully organised tour thats interesting, easy to read, enjoy and follow. Secondly, when you reach the gardens its the most beautiful place ever with amazing wildlife (watch out for alligators) and secret paths for exercise or viewing. My favourite part personally, BIRD CITY where you can see how these beatiful feathered friends were reunited with Earth after their near extinction. I dont wanna spoil too much incase you want to go see it, but they do give you free samples of tobacco sauce, and will even put some in your bloody mary!
Self guided walking tour and plant. (Fee) You get to see the bottling plant in operation. Free hot sauce.
Crawfish etouffee, red beans & sausage and chicken & sausage all served over white rice. Roasted pepper Tabasco on the beans was awesome.
The tour is self guided which was easy enough. Be sure to get your free products and check out the tasting bar in the store. Tried 2 kinds of Tabasco ice cream!
Great self guided tours, recommend going in the morning when they open and then having lunch at their cafe ❤️
We were pleasantly surprised on the incredible processes of the Tabasco product. The Jungle garden was unbelievably beautiful and the sanctuary of the white egrets was something to be old! We spent over 4 hours turing the island and enjoyed every minute of it.
Great place to bring your family and enjoy the tour of the place.
I last visited the Tabasco factory in 1997 when I was 14 years old. I was surprised and delighted by many of the things that have been expanded in the past 20 years since I last visited. The factory tour is completely self-guided and very well marked with signs that tell you how to guide yourself through the tour of the factory's history and process. If you are not a fan of the South's sweltering humid heat it may be better for you to visit in a cooler season. If it has just rained you may fare better if you wear boots to keep you from slipping in the mud and while walking through standing water. The area's leading up to the factory and the parking areas around the factory are not paved and are only gravel and dirt, which become muddy and slippery after it rains. As I said the expansions are very nice but are severely lacking in a lot of critical areas and I'm wondering how new these expansions are and if there are more planned expansions in the future. It's really hard to tell because the buildings dedicated to the gift shop and the restaurant for example seemed pretty permanent and newer. Here are some of the things I found confusing about visiting the Tabasco factory in 2019: 1. Why is there NO kids interactive area? I found this extremely confusing especially given how many families I saw visiting today. Having said that if you're a family reading this there are no family bathrooms and the restrooms as far as I know for the women do have primitive baby changing tables. Not stations but actual changing tables. The places (outside) seems relatively stroller-friendly. There is one part of the tour that has a flight of stairs. I believe you could safely leave your stroller with no personal belongings down at the bottom. To be handicap friendly they only offer a wheel chair lift not an elevator. The bathrooms are located in the gift shop area and are extremely small. They're clean from what I saw, but small. 2. The gift shop is very well-stocked. As a matter of fact too well stocked because it is extremely claustrophobic. Merchandise is all around you while you're trying to navigate pathways bumping into folks and getting blocked in places where people stop to look at merchandise. At times I felt like I couldn't actually breathe. And NO families it is not stroller-friendly. There is a tasting bar in the back that boast different flavors of Tabasco and different food items that contain Tabasco. What a great idea this was! What a BETTER idea it would have been if it had been put in a dedicated building b/c it is situated in the back of this tiny gift shop and it's extremely hard to stand there and taste test while people are bumping into you and trying to get around you. 3. Restaurant 1868. Another great concept. Another failed execution. There is a decent amount of seating but again it's tight and if this place were really packed I would imagine it would be quite claustrophobic as well. There's only one buffet style line with one register. For me today this meant standing in line 20 minutes to get a soda. You essentially have a handful of people doing several different jobs (for example the cashier is also the bartender) so the process is painstakingly slow. The menu looked very good and very reasonably priced. There are a lot of options with desserts and a full bar (liquor, wine, beer). There is only one small soda machine and a single tea dispenser that has buttons for you to choose various styles and flavors of tea. In closing this is a 22 million dollar company and if you're going to expand you do it right. The seating area outside for example is an absolute disaster. 2 wooden swings and a lot of metal chairs that are not comfortable. A few rocking chairs thrown up on the porches of the buildings. It's confusing to me why this wasn't executed better. I can't imagine what this place would have been like on a day that it is truly busy
Such an interesting place! Visits from Monday to Thursday can see the factory working. We went on a Saturday and there was no action in there. Food at the restaurant is good and affordable.
My niece works there. We met her for lunch at Cafe 1868 ---- great food as always! Did not go on the tour, but I know it is good and very informative. Did that many times before.
Really cool. A lot of history. Plus you can go at your own pace.
Tour is excellent and try the food and Avery Island driving tour also
Was such a great place to visit, everyone was so nice.
Did not go to the tour but the gift shop was wonderful. And they had every flavor to taste including jalapeno ice cream
Very interesting history on Tobasco sauce. Self guided tour you can take at your own pace.
Take the cooking class. It was a great experience.
Meh, if you're a hot sauce aficionado, or a tourist by all means go! Locals? Pass....
The facts and history of the family, the product and being able to see a good part of the process for making Tabasco sauce are really neat...the other plusses are the Jungle Gardens and the free Tabasco samples in the Country Store. We'll likely go again.
A must stop and visit! Lots to look at and learn. Great historical site!
Enjoyed this a lot. Very educational
Fabulous place to visit. The self guided tour of the factory is top-notch, the museum very well done, and the Bloody Mary's are tasty with Tabasco goodness. Take the extra time to your the arboretum, es vale la pena.
This was a very cool place to go to! It was amazing being able to see how this pepper sauce came to be and learning of the history.
This place is awesome a most visit , I would suggest to come Monday thru Thursday when the place is running
Loved it ! The smells in the factory are not to be forgotten. Some smelt wonderful while others smelled unforgettable in a bad way. Loved seeing the history and the process of how Tabasco is made. Definitely a wonderful experience.
The factory tour is very clean and easy. Very interesting videos explaining the history of the family and company. Also get to try out all of their products. The on site restaurant is priced well and delicious! Highly recommend.
Always an interesting and fun place to visit, only minor criticism, really think you should lose the charge for the factory tour. That little tour and associated guide made you quite unique.
Great self guided tour of the Tabasco factory! The whole area is very unique! Make sure to check out jungle gardens while visiting the area!
My wife, Gail, my friends Terry and his lady Glenda and myself had a great time here. The Tabasco factory tour was interesting.
Amazing staff and really cool history and unique tour.
Great place to visit. Shows the entire of the history and process of making their Tabasco sauce. Still family owned!
Great place to explore. Try to go on a weekday, as you can see the live production too. Very neat environment, detailed history, free samples. Tobasco store can be visited with no ticket purchase. However, ticket price is $5 only. Restaurant is not recommended. Forest garden is worth going. Visit 900 old Buddha statue with a small trail walk.
Very tasty place. Loved all the tabasco sauce and other tabasco products.
I highly recommend this visit. Very instructive, funny and modern. Count 1h and 6.5$ You can also visit the amazing Garden Jungle for 6$ more
Fun place to visit. Educational.
The Tabasco Food Tour was the most awesome experience. George the guide is more than a guide, he made the tour amazing. Avery Island is truly an amazing place, everyone made you feel welcomed. The plant was interesting, watching the bottles roll through being labeled, even the workers would wave and say hi. Beautiful plants, saw alligators sunning themselves, birds, and there was a sign to west h for black bears(didn't see any though). Please go experience this truly heart fill tour, you won't be sorry and you may come away with more than good food, smiles, and information. You'll come away feeling like you just met your best friends!
It was very nice layed out self tour. The map was easy to follow and pretty good videos at each stop. There's a visitor center, shop, and restaurant on site. Nice variety of samples available.
ALWAYS a wonderful experience. Have not been since they opened up more for you to see on the tour! It's fabu! Loved every minute. And NOT EXPENSIVE! Thank you Avery Island.
Fun and informative self guided tour. Great little store. Beautiful locale.
Good place nice tour and informative folks
Cool place to deliver. Neat gift shop. People very friendly beautiful landscaping and interesting history
It was a fun tour. Not incredible or anything. Cool to see the sauce being packed and all but there are only so many dimensions to making sauce. There were also some nutty bits like the mine etc. The shop experience was the best. Even though I am not a nutter for tabasco I enjoyed what the shop had to offer, sampled everything and ended up making a ton of unnecessary purchases. A good time was had by all and would do it all over if I get the chance
Awesome time. Learned much. Friendly folk.
Awesome place to visit. The country store is good and has samples. I would recommend the tour,!
Really cool tour and history. Loved tasting all the different sauces. The restaurant was excellent!
Our family of 4 enjoyed the self guided tour and seeing the history and production of Tabasco sauce. Jungle Gardens was equally interesting.
Awesome place for quick visit. It will take two and half hours to cover whole Tabasco tour(self tour for small group or individual), which cost $5.5 per person. In gift shop is also big and you can find different flavours of sauces and can taste & buy. Ice-cream for taste too. Staff is friendly but less in numbers. They have restorant , restroom and out side dining too. They have garden tour too. Must visit if you near by.
Wr havent been to Avery Idland in About 20 years.. it was a great experience with our kids.. we toured the factory ..ate and enjoyed the taste testing station at the country store..
Visited in November on a beautiful sunny day. All of the staff were nice, helpful, and welcoming. The company is very appreciative of military men & women, active duty and retirees. Be sure to show your ID for discount. The little museum is very well done. The tour is streamlined and informative. Wish we could have stayed longer to do the Jungle Gardens and Bird City. It was so quiet and peaceful on the grounds.
Enjoyed lunch then self guided tour of factory. Very informative and interesting displays as well as family history. Very nice visitors center and personnel.
Fun and entertaining location. Price to get in was inexpensive and well worth anyone’s time. They even give you a care package with small single use TABASCO sauces!
Great place. Worth the drive. Lots of history
Fabulous place to adventure if going through new Iberia! Good prices, wonderful attractions, beautiful scenery.
Was there back in the late 90s. What I remember was as soon as you got out of the car, all you smelled was peppers. I remember it being back off the beaten path, but it was a fun little diversion off the main road. Beware -- the smell will knock you out the second you open the car door.
A great activity. Very enjoyable.
6/8/19 visit: the food that I ordered was enjoyable and was not overpowered with seasoning by any Tabasco products. I sampled the gumbo, red beans and rice, along with the crawfish etouffee. The sweet and spicy sausage order was a good snack, too. Next time...I will get a chili cheese dog.
A lot of good information is available. Very interesting to see how the sauce made and bottled. I would recommend it for families and people of all ages.
A Place filled with History , Adventure ,Beauty,Good Food, Informative and Great People. Not to mention the World Famous Tabasco Factory. Awesome !! Proud !! Because I Work and Make Tabasco Brand Sauces. 36 years of dedicated loyal service to Quality!!
This tour is much improved over my last visit (5 years ago). You get to see the peppers growing, where they are mixed, stored, bottled, etc. Plus they added a great tobasco themed restaurant with incredible food at a great value!!
So Beautiful and so much History here.
Very nice. Buildings very well maintained. Grounds was very pretty. Restaurant was good. County Store was fun and staff friendly. Factory tour was good.
The tour is self-directed, so you can go at your own pace. The small museum is actually quite interesting. There is also a gift store selling every type of Tabasco product imaginable. If you're in the area, take the trip to Avery Island.
Very interesting place that focuses on the history of Tobasco. There's a self tour that is highly organized. There is also a restaurant and a gift shop. I enjoyed my time there. I would definitely go back.
Great place to stop. We enjoyed the self guided tour. Neat store with free samples and lots of cool tobasco stuff. Hope we have time to try the restaurant next time.
The BEST tour I've ever been on! It is self guided, which is great so you can take in all that is Tabasco without feeling rushed! Great for all ages. We had a group of 5 ranging from ages 8 to 71. Plus Not expensive at all unless you go to the gift shop which is a bit pricey on some items (it's a gift shop what did I expect
While the tour is nice, a tour guide would have been nice. The hidden gem is the Tabasco reserve sauce, which is only available online or in their general store, and is by far the best version of Tabasco.
Beautiful grounds. Nice restaurant and gift shop.
Interesting tour in a beautiful setting. Lots to see and do nice gift shop and a simple restaurant. The jungle tour is a great way to see more of the island
Lots of fun and not expensive. Jungle garden was also great. Had a fun time
A lot of history and very interesting. A real must see!
