Beautiful church, grounds and interesting part of New Orleans history. Sorry we had to do a self tour instead of having the docent there due to the recent storm. Gift shop lady was very nice and we were told a story by someone else we ran into affiliated with the building. Worth visiting.
You can take a self guided tour but I would recommend taking a guided tour with Phillip. Very interesting place as the oldest building in New Orleans. Beautiful chapel and the details are amazing.
A lovely church with gorgeous grounds and a self guided tour. Very friendly and helpful staff. Worth the admission price to see one of the only remaining buildings from before the Good Friday fire.
Loved strolling through and learning about the history. The church is small, but, stunning
Breath taking! Amazing history! Wonderful tour guide!
Very interesting and walked away with a profound respect for what the nuns sacrificed. A must to do.
Frankly speaking not very informative.
The exhibits were very well layed out and the property is beautiful.
Beautiful historical gem
An amazing place to see tons of history and a beautiful place overall. Totally worth the price to go through the building and see the set up and all the artifacts and text.
Beautiful with a lot of Catholic history.

This a nice little place and reasonably priced. It has interesting history and it is also a nice break inside the AC from the hot New Orleans heat.
While it was closed on the day we tried to tour, I heard the history of the convent on a paranormal tour and found that this convent has folklore ties to stories of vampires. And a mysterious attic, with blessed silver nails hold the shutters of the attic Windows shut.
Beautiful! So much history!
Who doesn't live history!
Interesting historical place.
The structure is beautiful. The church itself is as well. The lawn and the inside are well-maintained. However, I expected a little more historical information of the convent in the museum rather than just history of Catholicism. Despite this, I do recommend it for its statues, sanctuary, and staircase.
Would be nice to offer the option of a guide.
History at it's most interesting!
Pretty, interesting, not sure I would bother with this place. History is kind of cool but maybe not worth the price of admission.
Cute little place. Doesn't take more then 30 mon
Linda capilla. Le falta mas detalles de epoca
Really neat self paced tour.
A great part of New Orleans history
If you like history or Catholic culture you have to see this museum.
Fascinating history; engaged tour guides. Totally reasonable price for this beautiful landmark.
Absolutely cool place to check out was given a guided tour was spectacular
Very historic place it tells the story of the Ursuline nuns that came by ship in 1724 sad but nice story
This is an amazing Historic Site. The history of the Ursulines in New Orleans is wonderful!
Very nice off the beaten path area!
Great place very affordable..
Oldest building in the Mississippi river valley
É um museu muito bonito e que um dia já foi um convento vale a pena a visita. Fica na região central de Nova Orleans e é bem fácil de encontrar.
One of the best places to visit if you find yourself in the French Quarter.
Beautiful place for a wedding events nice!!!
Divino lugar y muy interesante su historia
If you're interested in the history of New Orleans you should definitely check it out. He paid a door fee that has student discounts and military discounts but the tour is free if you want one. The employees are very helpful and friendly I will answer any questions you have. It is a religious building so if you're uncomfortable in religious sites I recommend passing. But if you are religious it's also good to visit, you learn a lot about different saints that contributed to New Orleans.
Very nice building and grounds to tour.
Very nice but small museum housed in an old convent. Focuses on the religious history of the region and is very well presented. Self paced and photography is permitted. Entrance fee at the time of our visit was $8. There is very affordable parking just a few blocks away at 420 N. Rampart St., and it's just a few minutes walk from there. Highly recommended.
Absolutely beautiful! We went on a day that Philip was there. He has so much knowledge about the history and made our visit amazing!
Somewhat boring...
Definitely take the guided tour. This place is super interesting and the cathedral is stunning.
It is not the convent as the sisters would have lived in it, but it is full of historic artifacts that came over with the nuns from France back in the 1700s! It is a gorgeous museum with lots to discover, and the chapel and gardens are gorgeous.
Oldest building in the city. Peaceful self guided tour
Very intresting tours
Pretty but small area and not that much actual information
It's Beautiful
Antique museum
Interesting Catholic church history, beautiful church, tour excellent!
Fabulous art, architecture and gardens
Beautiful place.
You would expect that the historic Ursuline Convent turned museum would be focused on what it was like to live in a convent right??? No. Instead it's a shrine to the St. Louis Cathedral. Seriously 5 of 6 rooms dedicated to the museum were dedicated to the history of the church. Not what I was thinking at all. Let down for sure.
This was probably one of the most interesting tours we did in New Orleans. It was cheap, even more so when compared to other tours, and the guide was extremely knowledgeable about the place and the history of the city and the state. This is definitely worth every penny you pay, and a must do. I recommend you do the convent before you do the cathedral, as you learn quite a bit about both when visiting the convent, making the visit to the cathedral even more interesting.
Beautiful piece of history. Another part of our historical *Ghost Tour*
Awesome history
Well worth a visit, beautiful church

Great self-directed tour. Interesting history. Beautiful building and grounds. Has a nice gift shop. St. Ann church is next door and also part of tour.
Interesting history.
Take the guided tour.....you will not be disappointed! The tour guide was awesome.
Great fact-filled place.
The best walking tour ever --- three hundred year history of one of the oldest cities in North America
Came in at 11 on Saturday and found Philip giving a tour, great story teller - the history is so rich! Love the wall of immigrants, he really puts the different cultures in perspective.
Truly a massive time capsule which preserves the atmosphere from the 18th and 19th centuries. We entered the garden outside and already we sensed the 18th century French presence. The architecture and perfectly manicured hedges are like a fragment of a French palace. Inside the cathedral and complex we joined Phil's tour. He is insanely knowledgeable about the history of New Orleans and the building. The tour focused on the cathedral and Christianity. The stain glass windows are marvelous especially when the light shines at the right angle. There was also a short movie on the TV which was informative with nice background music. The outdoor courtyard had magnificent sculptures of Christian characters. Pleasant, apparently quite a few couples wed here. Overall I highly recommend dropping by and exploring the museum.
Amazing self guided tour. Such a unique place!
Interesting and restful stop while in New Orleans. If you enjoy history--religious or otherwise--you should enjoy a tour through this museum. You can go through in an hour. There is a very nice garden where they host special events. The chapel is also beautiful with very nice stained glass windows. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
The residents were so friendly and knowledgeable.
This building is important and special the floors caught my attention! Also the different types of fruits in the garden
Heartfelt presentation of Colonial Woman’s great personal risk and benevolence.
Loved touring convent and St Mary's Church. Beautiful artifacts along with great historical info. We are locals and learned more about history of the Ursuline Nuns, etc. Worth your time and ticket cost help keep grounds, etc.
It is the oldest building in the Mississippi River Valley. It is a great Play Store and the adjoining church is very interesting. It's a nice respite from all the going ons in the French Quarter.
Thought provoking, peaceful and beautiful.
Very interesting
Interesting history
Nice venue for weddings
New things to learn in interesting places
Excelent and Very historical place.
Beautiful building but not a well curated tour or museum. I would pass if I had limited time in NO.
Educational, cheap, not a lot of people there so it's pretty comfortable and you can definitely take your time. Interesting information about the yellow fever epidemic and the first female pharmacist.
8 dollars per person. Friendly staffs and impressive interiors and nice view from the garden. Very cool inside.
Amazing bit of New Orleans history!
Beautiful historic building. We were on a ghost tour and this was one of the stops.
Great history. Very spiritual place.
Enjoyed
Absolutely beautiful!
Great place
This place is absolutely beautiful! It cost $8 to get in, but that is totally worth it. You can take as many pics as you want and the tour is self paced. The kind of just let you want as you want. Nice to be able to look at something as long or as short as I wanted. Lots to read and look at.
Well worth a look in a city full of historical buildings. Chapel is lovely.
Gives you a feeling to appreciate the people before us that ran and built this beautiful place.
After reading about the history of the convent I was eager to see it for my self.
Great history. At night... Scary stories.
Absolutely gorgeous. ST. Mary's is gorgeous.
I was inprest
Fantastic piece of local and Catholic history in New Orleans.
Great historical grounds
Great place
Museum only on bottom floor
Always a pleasure visiting historic places. Small but very interesting musuem. Siempre un placer visitar lugares historicos. Pequeño pero muy interesante
Could be better... Maybe guided tours...
We came upon the convent quite unexpectedly while walking around one afternoon. What a lovely surprise when we stepped through the gate to the inner courtyard! The birds were singing and it was surprisingly beautiful and peaceful. The chapel was stunning in it's beauty! Comparable to churches in Italy. What a wonderful find this is. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a respite from the city!
Unexpected stop on our trip but it was worth it.
Lots of History to learn about any must-see for architecture nerds
Fascinating! Self guided tour with a map. So much information to be learned. This was a wonderful experience and worth every penny.
What a beautiful place to have a celebration of the like of my wife's uncle. It was a gorgeous convent.
Beautiful museum, with an interesting history. Great self-guided tour, and inexpensive entry fee. I think we paid around $8 a person. Friendly and extremely knowledgeable staff. The grounds are immaculate with gorgeous gardens. Definitely a must see while you're in New Orleans.
Beautiful old new Orleans
Outstanding and informative tour re: 300 years of Catholicism and the city of New Orleans. Learn about all the different immigrant groups that came here.
Lovely old historic convent and church. Be sure to check out the back garden area too!
Beautiful garden and good venue for wedding. Historic location. Photo worthy.
Cool museum, worth going and hearing a bit about the history of the city
small, but the atmosphere is strong
On our last day in New Orleans we made this our last stop on list of things to do. Was highly disappointed by woman who may have been a guide or gift shop employee. She outright told us we would be disappointed by this tour. She stated that if we came to see ghosts, there weren't any. She said that the second floor is off limits & the museum just reflects the 300th anniversary of New Orleans. We'd much more enjoy the house down the street that's haunted by some lady who tortured her slaves back in the 1800s. My older daughters, 20 & 23, & I were so offput by this woman's rudeness. We walked out of there in disbelief. Another employee actually came outside to try to assuage us, but the damage was done & we left. I'm sure the admittance fee goes toward the restoration & upkeep of this historical site. I hope the society reads their google reviews too. Because this woman turned away 3 paying customers interested in your museum. Bad business! The ONLY negative part of our wonderful New Orleans vacation.
So impressive, steepped in history.
It is a very simple museum in a very old location. The story of the Ursuline nuns in New Orleans is very compelling.
Fantastic tour with an awesome guide!
Very beautiful
Lots of history here and the docent's are great sources of info about these women with a mission.
The guide was a true pleasure. Facenating!

Beautiful old building. Very peaceful and soothing inside the chapel. Lovely old statues and gorgeous winding staircase ornately detailed. Lots of historical information on the convent in various rooms. Curious attic with the shutters nailed shut.... Vampire folklore.... Not part of the tour but very creepy to look at from the outside nonetheless. Would definitely recommend to others. 8.00 per person.... Absolutely worth it.
Nice piece of Catholic and New Orleans history.
Huge disappointment. I injured myself on their malfunctioning water fountain. The water output is very low so I bent down low to drink, then suddenly it sprayed very high and water went directly into my eyes and face at high speed. I recoiled instinctively and banged my head on the inside top. I still have a headache almost six hours later. We notified the staff but they were unsympathetic and didn't care. The lady at the front room kept asking us whether we wanted a tour, and didn't understand when we said we didn't want a tour just admission to go in. Finally when we said the words "self guided" she got it and sold us tickets. The museum is tiny and there is very little to see, and it's expensive.
Been wanting to see this for years now, so we took some time to do the self guided tour. There is a lot of history involving the religious orders of sisters doing good works for the city. The tour includes the attached church of st.mary which is very beautiful. This is well worth the visit.
Beautiful wedding
Beautiful and historic
An old historic place. Worth a visit!
Bartended a wedding there. Smoothest, most professional wedding I've ever worked.
