REVIEWS OF New Orleans Pharmacy Museum IN Louisiana

Laura Thiessen

Definitely stop here when you're in NO. You can walk through on your own in under an hour and totally worth the $5 fee. I highly recommend staying for the tour that is included in this fee. The curator is funny and passionate about the subject matter and has a ton of information to share. Took a little over an hour so don't take the tour if you've got somewhere to be. I will definitely return when I come back to visit!

Tammi Renee

This place is awesome it's $5 you get to go and tore some old medical things there's an upstairs you can take your time and go through in and read all of the exhibits and look at some of the things that they used back in the day for medical reasons. If you get a chance and you're in New Orleans by all means stop by the pharmacy museum you will not be disappointed and like I said best $5 ever spent.

Phil Bernstein

Very cool stop. Well worth the $5 admission.

Araceli A

This was a very interesting, informative and wonderful experience. I walked by this museum for 3 days and finally realized it was an actual museum. I enjoyed my self guided tour as I was running out of time. I would definitely go back for the tour. It sounded very interesting.

James Fuller

The guided tour was perhaps our favorite thing we did in New Orleans. The tour guide/curator was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable, funny, and enthusiastic. The tour was very crowded, which made it less interactive, but he managed the crowd perfectly.

Jean-Charles Nortier

Great tour. The guide is just awesome! Be careful ONLY ONCE A DAY AT 1PM.

Mike

$5 entrance fee ($4 for seniors and students). There is an one hour tour at 1PM which was very interesting. It was intriguing to hear about how Pharmacy played a role in New Orleans and learn about its history. It was actually entertaining as you get to hear how people treated their symptoms back in 19th century. Make sure to stop by!

Marco Biffi

A must if you're in the area. Make sure you get the tour guide at 1PM. Very informative and funny. It's shocking what humans have tried doing in the name of science and medicine.

Michelle

Small for a museum, but jam-packed with interesting items and historical influence. Only $5 to get in, self-guided tours, but narrated tours happen at 1 pm. There is an upper level and a courtyard to investigate as well.

SD WS

super cool and macabre for just $5 it’s two floors JAM PACKED with apothecary history. if you’re in NO it’s a must see.

Olivia Pace

This place is SO cool!! I think it is super underrated, but it had so many interesting things to look at and read. A really fascinating collection, very well done!

Amy Williams

A really great educational experience! Loved learning about the history of medicine in New Orleans, and seeing all of the old bottles and different medical tools and paraphernalia. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and it's a fairly inexpensive activity, especially if you're taking your kids to the French quarter and looking for something to do that doesn't involve drinking lol Definitely worth the 5 dollars.

Nina Heck

Definitely worth the $5 entry fee which included a 40 minute tour. Our guide was amazing...entertaining and knowledgeable. I especially appreciated the way he spoke about the not-so-pretty side of New Orleans’ history. More interesting than I expected a pharmacy tour to be.

Chris Reeves

Fascinating exhibits and amazing tour guide!

Aamir Mazhar

Another good museum in the French quarter. Unfortunately they only offer one tour per day at 1 pm, so I can't comment on that. But it is still worth looking through all the exhibits on your own. They are spread across two floors, ranging from pharmaceuticals to midwifery. Recommend showing up at half past noon to catch the tour.

Anthony Leone

Really cool small museum. Lots of history and cool artifacts. Was here for a wedding though and it made for a super sick wedding venue. The courtyard in the back made it feel cozy but open. 10/10 would recommend for a small event space.

Russel Weich

Beautiful wedding venue in their courtyard and amazing historical medicine items to look at in this museum! Stop in and check it out!

Shalyn Anders

Great tour, tour guide really knew what he was presenting and always provided some fun facts. The price is $5 for adults which is a very good price for what you get.

Dianne Samarin

The information and items this museum contains were an amazing and insightful experience. Being in health care RN, I love the historical context.

Theresa Lofton

This place was great. The tour was wonderful and fact filled. Not just about pharmacy things. A real peak into early medicine.

Chuckie S

The pharmacy Museum was very interesting. It was fascinating to see how medicine has progressed, it makes me glad to live in the 21st century.

Stacey Lubin

The place was nice but the guy at the front had an attitude. My cousin and I went in and he said the admission was 5$ a person my cousin told him we were students he said okay two students. I gave him a 10 dollar bill and he didn’t give me any change. I didn’t think anything of it till I got to the end of the tour and over two young people come in and said they were students and he charged them $8. I politely went up to him and he reluctantly believed me when I told him my story. He did give me my change but added the remark I’m sure you didn’t say you were a student. If you don’t like your position don’t take it out of the customers especially if I wasn’t rude to you. He’s rudeness is why I’m rating the establishment 1 Star.

H P

Very interesting tour. The guide is excellent - very knowledgeable and knows his stuff!

Michael Ratsamy

We came for the tour which really made the experience. It's only offered at 1pm a couple of days a week. The gentleman giving the tour was well informed, and witty. The hour long tour was worth the time. Get there a bit early, 10-15 minutes, as our tour filled up and you're able to view the lower level until it starts. Also don't forget to go upstairs afterwards.

Henry Fairbanks

Check out the rectal dilator set. Pretty sweet

piscesboy76

Amazing. It's wonderful to see items and relics preserved from the past. Self guided tour for 5 dollars. You can't beat that. Was a bit crowded, though was easy to maneuver around groups. Lots to see, posters and t-shirts for sale too. Highly recommended.

Matthew Zuckerman

Only $5. The curator gave a very entertaining tour.

Laurel Altigar

Interesting and informative. Thank God we have made so many advancements in medicine!

Colleen H

Interesting museum dating back to late 1700's. Three goes off interesting history. The courtyard in rear if building feels very European.

Debbie Roe

Amazing tour. The medical history was so gruesome but neat

Jennifer Singh

Very interesting little museum, worth every penny of the $5 entry.

Kevin Kousha

The Pharmacy Museum is reasonably sized and affordable to visit. Plus, go on weekdays and you'll get a killer guided tour of the first floor. It's certainly gruesome, and not for the weak willed, but a really fascinating study of 19th century medical history, and I'm glad it exists.

Bianca Lemmon

Beautiful courtyard, multiple floors, too much to take in during a single visit. Highly recommend. I wish we could've seen the third floor though! They do tours also.

Robin Steyer

While it is small, there's a lot of fascinating stuff in the pharmacy museum. We we're there about an hour and I think it was well worth the $5 ticket price. Young kids probably wouldn't be very interested, but I thought that the items on display were neat and the information accompanying them was thorough.

Jan N

Amazing guided tour with an awesome oration by the attendant. This was by far the best 5 dollars I spent on the trip. The guided tour, which is actually an hour long history lesson in a single room starts at 1pm on weekdays. Definitely one of the highlights of the trip!

Caroline Hammond

I loved this place! It's tiny enough that you can roam through in about 30 minutes, and is a fascinating glimpse into medical history. It's very charming, with well kept displays and lots and lots of information. Absolutely worth the price of admission.

Bethany Offutt

The tour at 1PM is a must. Sooooo good. He was so funny, incredibly well-informed, and really made history come to life. Absolutely amazing, possibly our favorite part of our trip

Ajay Lewis

Definitely a hidden gem in NOLA! Really inexpensive compared to a lot of things in this city, and soooooo much to see in such a small building. They have a beautiful courtyard as well. Not that that's what you're there to see, but a couple was rehearsing their wedding there! The pharmacy museum has a ton of old medical equipment, medications, information on old birthing techniques and much more to see. This wouldn't be the best for kids under 6 unless they are calm as you can't touch anything. You are allowed to take pictures without flash. Definitely check upstairs before you head out, there isn't as much to see up there but they still have some interesting items. If you have poor eyesight don't forget your glasses as the writing on everything there is very small!

Chris Walker

Pretty cool history behind medacine

deborah mayle

Very interesting place, definitely worth the 5 dollar admission. Very educational.

Mark Walls

Interesting and quirky museum. We stopped here to kill time before dinner, and for $5 entry it’s definitely worth it. They have a variety of displays and you can learn a decent amount of local history through the informative readings by each display. There’s also a lovely courtyard with a fountain for pictures and a rest. I wouldn’t go out of your way to visit, but the location is close enough to the main attractions of the French quarter, you might as well go if you have some extra time!

Coaster Kat

If you are interested in some of the history in New Orleans I recommend checking it out. There is a lot to learn, and there is cool things to see. They do offer student discounts. Downstairs smells a little funky, but I wasn't sure if that was because it was raining when I went. There are also a lot of stairs, and to my knowledge there is no elevator.

Milwaukee Zalenski

Very interesting! And very affordable! Give yourself at least an hour if you really want to read the details and history.

angel torres-carmona

The place is so impressive and breathtaking, so much national and local history as complex and rich as the city itself, every little detail has lots of fun facts. The tour guide was exhilarating and very easy to follow. If you come to New Orleans don't miss it!

Rachel Lewis

The guide was very passionate about the topic and shared his passion in a way that was fascinating and educational. Sadly we had to duck out a little early but I'll pay the small fee again the next time I'm in town to hear the entirety. Nineteenth century medicine is not for the faint of heart.

Buu-Tran Duong

unfortunately, on the day we wanted to check out the museum, there was also a waiting, so on the door, they said they were closing an hour early. We were really bummed out, because they would be completely closed tomorrow, which is the day that we would be leaving back to our hometown. The cashier guy was really nice. It usually cost $5 or so per person, but he said we just have to pay him $5 for all three of us to run around the museum as much as possible and taken as much as possible for about 10 minutes before the wedding started! It was pretty awesome, the 10 minutes we were there, lol!

Renaud Pelletier

Very detailed museum, had lots of very well preserved ancient equipment and medication from the 19th century to display, all in an historical building really helping you get in the spirit of the museum.

NIKKI BOMBEK

Great experience very educational....

Tiffany Reyes

Very neat learning what we used way back then for medical and dental needs. Thankfully born in this century.

Andrea Scarano

The best $5 and an hour I've spent in a long time. The museum is a testament to human insanity. Our tour guide however was stellar, full of information and personality, so glad we took the time to go today!

Natalie Breyer

Reasonably priced and chocked full of history. Great place

Areli Montero

Adorable and pretty in interesting place.

Arie's Sims

I loved coming here for a tour! The tour started at 1pm and it only cost $5. So much information and things to see! I would recommend coming here if you are ever in New Orleans.

Heidi Petersen

A small, cozy museum. Really interesting to see the crazy ingredients and learn about procedures and beliefs that used to be standard. How far we've come! We spent about an hour here and it was well worth the $5/person admission.

Aurora Rich

Really neat and nice to learn about the history back then.

nah05c

Great experience with a very fun instructor

Britt Dud

Ruth was great. Super entertaining and one of our favorite stops on the trip. The 1pm tour is definitely worth the wait

Melissa Wegman

Love it. If you like history or antiques this is your place.

Jeff Devon

Such an incredible experience! Owen is the man! His tour was hilarious and full of awesome information about the history of 19th century medicine, the pharmacy, and their evolution into modern day. Hands down the most unique museum I’ve ever been to. If you are in New Orleans you have to stop by here!

Jessica Reznik

A must see for visitors to New Orleans. First, make sure to go at 1pm. The curator gives an entertaining tour about medicine in the 1800's. You don't leave the room, but you learn so much. The curator gives a fun perspective on what life was life in Louisiana in the 1800s and the type of ailments they had. The treatments will surprise and disgust you. The museum itself is the site of the first registered pharmacist, so you learn a bit about his history as well. It's worth the $5. You'll laugh, you'll gag and you'll say "Really?! They did that?!"

Yurian Biffi

I loved this experience. The tour guide was amazing at giving the history of old medicine. He made it fun to hear and he is very knowledgeable, explained everything with confident. I recommend to visit this place when you are in the area

Ben Slightom

I wish there were more museums dedicated to the history of science and medicine; this is an absolute gem of a museum with detailed historical briefs on a wide range of medical topics, and an excellent example of historic French Quarter architecture. Worth the time and money.

Mar Morales Medina

You have to come here, it’s a very interesting place, specially if they tell you about the spooky stories about it!

Heather Rose Arguello

Cool place with some great artifacts and narrative explanations. Wish there was a little more guidance/interaction from staff. The displays could use some modernizing/updating, but definitely worth the visit if you are in our interested in the medical/health profession.

Angela Dang

Passed by this pharmacy museum. Admission is $5. Looked around & noticed it is very small museum, so decided not to go. If people are interested in it, seem pretty cool. The place has tour from Tue - Sat @ 1:00 PM if i remember correctly. $5 with free tour may be worth it.

Virginia Wright

Highlight of the French Quarter: the 1pm talk here is not to be missed. Fascinated both myself and my children. He could definitely charge more, though I appreciate the very modest $5 he does ask. Highlight of our vacation.

Megan Fuller

The staff was outstanding. The museum was interesting but the real star was the 1pm tour. Owen, who gave our tour, was by far the best tour guide I experienced in the city. Very Entertaining, extremely knowledgeable, and able to cater a single tour to a large audience with mixed levels of knowledge about the medical field. The museum has a very reasonable enterance fee; I was happy to pay considering the quality of the tour and variety of pharmaceutical artifacts. It is a smaller museum but Completely worth your time.

kevin m

Cool blast from the past...oddly educational too.

Erica Kane

As a regular visitor & fan of the Mütter. in philadelphia I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was the pharmacological equivalent & quite delightful. There is a guided "tour" of the exhibit at 1pm and the guy there today was great! Knowledgeable and funny. (I'm calling it a "tour" bc it is all on the ground level & you tour around the room but don't move much) Probably not kid-friendly

Gio Garcia

What a nice place to visit. Great selection of neat little things to check out. They even hold wedding events there in the courtyard when it's not open for as a museum. Good for a visit.

Valli Van Meter

Interesting AND humorous, the young gentleman who runs this establishment is an extremely talented storyteller! This is DEFINITELY one of the best $5 you'll spend on entertainment in New Orleans!

Nick Heltn

Great time for a cheap price. If you're in the healthcare field you'll have a wonderful time. Even if you're not, for the price, there is too much to learn and see!

Kat

Try to time your visit with the museum curators daily talks (1pm on weekdays) for an informative and humoured explanation of the bizarre world of western medicine pre-20th century

Mark Lawley

Very interesting place. Take the tour to get the history.

Dwayne Corcoran

A curious tour into the history of medicine, cures, and charlatans. A fantastic experience overall. Highly recommend staying for the tour for a very animated and hilarious commentary and context of the museum.

fred fulford

Interesting and strange place. Lots of historical medical areas the read and view. If you are in medicines then deffinatly worth a visit. Do the tour, it starts at 1pm everyday, turn up before the start time as it gets verg annoying if people walk in late (you get stared at). Great tour guide, gets quite gorey and detailed about the body so not for queasy.

S Morgan

So interesting and carefully curated! A very balanced perspective and amazing amount of info for such a small space. Plus, the courtyard garden is a lovely places to sit and rest.

Gloria Deo

It was fantastic and informative the curator is gold and super knowledgeable

Dustin Collins

The pharmacy museum is very interesting and well worth the very inexpensive admission. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in medical history. A little macabre, but still family friendly enough that I wouldn't fret about bringing kids.

Akua Brenya

It was good to see the old pharmacy, old medication and medical instruments. It was $5 which was fine but i wish they did tours on the weekend...

Laura Cantales

You must go there for the 1 hour tour. Owen, who is extremely knowledgeable, and also hilarious, will knock your socks off with a bunch of history and lots of fascinating stories and facts that make this a highlight of any visit to the French Quarter. Don't miss it!

Tim Piland

Great guided tour, well worth the price. Amazing tour guide, really kept the crowd engaged. Such a great time. Highly recommend. The history is fascinating and the museum so well done. Highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed. Love this place so much.

Patrick Everson

Really interesting artifacts and a ton of unusual history. Lot of humorous items as well. 100% would recommend and will be back

Helen Gaffney

Really great experience! DO NOT MISS THE TOUR! It happens at 1pm and is absolutely excellent. The curator was incredibly knowledgeable and very engaging, you could tell he was excited about his topic. He was also very funny! Which really breathed life into the museum for me.

Julie Cooksey

Very neat stop with lots of history. Building is beautiful too. Very interesting if you also take a ghost tour while in New Orleans. This building has lots of stories!

Erica Stokes

This is a really neat place to visit if you're into old medicine or history. I didn't realize it was a tour when we entered, but the guide was knowledgeable and kept things moving along well. His information about some of the pieces was quite interesting, also has some tales about NOLA history. Didn't care for his dramatics at the end as a way to garner tips, though. Too much! The tour was $5/person and he talked for almost an hour.

jenna lynne guilbault

Awesome place to see!! Must see

Kevin Darling

Guy gives a fantastic presentation lecture about the history of the weird items in this packed museum that were used over the years. Well worth the suggested $5 donation. A must see & hear.

Sylvie Grimes

When you come, because you MUST NOT miss this place, come at 1pm for the tour. You will learn about the state of turn of the century (1800s-1900s) medicine in NOLA, but also the US at that time. The upper floor is air conditioned, a great place to duck out of a midday shower or the heat, and so many interesting things to see. Stop by the courtyard fountain for a cool rest (garden benches) and contemplate the wonder of antibiotics and a proper toothbrush.

Gregory Frahm-Gilles

LOVED IT! Our tour guide was hilarious and knowledgeable. One of the best ways to spend $5 (though don’t forget to tip)

Lauryn Hanley

We didn’t know what to expect, but we went for the 1 PM guided tour. Owen- the ticket taker/tour guide/museum curator gave one of the best tours we could have hoped for. He was absolutely hilarious, had the entire room (which was packed!) laughing the whole time. You could tell he had intimate knowledge of every single piece in the museum, and overall gave an awesome tour.

Cristina Deiac

Nice place to visit. Takes about 20-30 min depending on how much time you want to spend reading.

Jinny Gunn

Visited the New Orleans Pharmacy not a wedding and absolutely fell in love! The venue was so perfect for a wedding! Spent so much time looking around at all the cool stuff and what a great collection! Wedding or not this is a definite must see when I'm the French Quarter and I hope to go back one day be I'm sure I missed things. They did a great job with setup and we had a fantastic time.

J Estrada

This was a nice experience. It's not a huge place; you can get in and out in under 30 minutes. But they do have a lot of items and information to keep you satisfied. It is definitely worth the price of admission. It's got a nice, nostalgic feel to it. You will definitely learn something new coming here. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful.

Erica Linzmeier

One star off for the employee and his rude, unprofessional attitude. We stood there with souvenirs to bring back home and he did not help us. For $5, though, I was pleased looking at all the old medical things.

Antonio Cuny

So INTERESTING! My son suggested it... tour at 1pm, but you can spend hours looking through the displays. Amazing, and a little scary. Much has changed, but some... some things not so much! Worth $7 for sure!

Andrea F

Great museum on the history of medicine. Just wonderful.

jonathan varnado

Go for the guided tour at 1pm. The guide is hilarious and knows his stuff. Fascinating little museum, well worth the 5 bucks.

Suedeh Ranjbar

Fantastic place. Disclaimer, I’m a physician so I kind of geeked out here, but I think everyone could enjoy the interesting history of medicine! They gave a lot of historical background on the medicines and tools used in their times, and it’s just super super cool to see the development of the modern medicine we have today! I highly recommend this place. It’s also only $5, and seriously one of the best $5 you’ll ever spend :)

Christian Dixon

Very fun tour! A guy fainted and the proprietor offer him a diet Coke...for blood sugar. I don't know if that was what he thought that would help or if it was part of his humor.

Holly Warren-Cheramie

I brought my 15 & 17 year olds. They really enjoyed reading about the old medical practices and instruments. I doubt all teenagers would enjoy this, but mine did. We spent about 2 hours there. It got crowded real quick and upstairs was difficult to read all the exhibits due to needing to bend down and the walkway being 6 inches wide. Despite the crowdedness it was still very enjoyable. The back courtyard provided a nice backdrop for pictures, too!

Backstitch Kitsch

Fantastic little museum. Really interesting items and so much information on all the different facets of early pharmaceuticals. Leave enough time to read everything. Highly recommended.

L E

$5 to get in and explore. Very cool place to visit

Tucker Stapleton

Fantastic place, loved the 1pm tours (don't think they tour on Saturday). A lot of interesting items to look at.

Nickie Millington

Truly a fantastic museum. Seeing the stunning restored house/pharmacy is worth the $5 admission fee in itself! Many, many different artifacts and tons of information. Staff was friendly and helpful. Next time I will make sure to do the guided tour also. Second floor is not wheelchair accessible, however, there is plenty to see on the ground floor and the gorgeous courtyard.

David Mulligan

Very cool little museum, interesting to see what old-time "medicine" looked like.

Brandon Jefferson

Excellent museum about the history of pharmacy in NO. Worth more than the price of admission.

Robin Storbakken

Only $5 for admission. They offer a guided tour or you can do a self guided tour. An incredible amount items and information contained inside this old building.

Yudith Abecassis

Interesting and wonderful. The curator delivered an amazing history of the museum, providing both cultural and social context with a great sense of humour. Would visit again!

M.C. Morris Moncure

Great experience- one of the best guided tours I’ve ever had. Museum Director was amazing, lovely, and funny presenter. He had a great sense for detail and education. I’d rank it higher if I could! Take the guided tour - only happens once a day on certain days of the week so check it out before you go.

Laura Holmes

Pretty little court yard. We did this on out last day in New Orleans and it was perfect end to some sightseeing. The guided tour was a nice touch for the same price as the entry ticket $5 ans it gave more information than just looking around on your own, I would've liked the tour to extend upstairs aswell but the mightve been due to the museum closing early for a wedding overall fun and weird experience.

Liz Coffee

Super fun! A lot to look at and a lot to read, so make sure to allow time to truly absorb everything there.

Fergie Leung

Super interesting fun facts. There is a guided tour starting 1pm daily. A must-visit for anyone visiting NOLA.

Makenzie Jaranson

Such a cool museum! Had a lot of interesting displays

Jaime Mendiola

Interesting to see old office setup and medical equipment that my grandfather used to use.

Raymond Rasmussen

Such a good time! Worth the $5 admission!

Thomas Pilla

Take your time and read. So much historical significance and many things to learn

Kurtis Kozel

Interesting place. Well worth the hour or so visit if you're in the area.

Kris valnc

Pretty cool stuff in here.

Elizabeth

This was a great place to visit. Unfortunately, after asking a very simple question I was met with absolute rudeness by the man at the counter. It really marred our experience, we wish we didn’t pay and walked out. That’s how shocking it was.

HyunSun Chung

$5 for admission. Self tour. It's small museum but you can spend good 2 hours if you take your time to read details and narratives. They're interesting.

Edie Heatherly

Very informative. The curator was so entertaining in his telling of pharmaceutical history

Kevin Hannon

A highlight of our trip to New Orleans. Do not miss the guided tour! Compassionate, informative, darkly humorous, engaging, and appropriately gross.

Rena Patel

This place was a cool little diversion off the busy street. It's only $5 and you don't have to go in when a tour guide which is nice. You can view everything at your own pace and this place has a nice upstairs and downstairs viewing area. The guy at the front will hand you an information pamphlet that will guide you when walking through the museum. It's very authentic and has some very cool information. We spent about an hour here. Nice little outdoor area as well to rest. They do have an outdoor restroom I didn't go inside but they do have one for people who have paid for entry.

Monika Piazza

This place is super cool! For a $5 entry fee, you get to see all sorts of vintage items, mostly from one particular pharmacist (the first board certified pharmacist). This museum goes through the history of medical tools...which is super cool and gross to see. There are lots of bottles of medications that used to be used, also creepy and cool. If you read the cards throughout the museum, there is so much to learn. We only had an hour and a half to burn, but I could have spent all day in there! Plan for at least a couple of hours.

Marie Lajaunie

One of the most interesting museums downtown has to offer at an incredible value

Tyler Hudgins

Pretty cool place if you're interested in history of medicines. Place is pretty small and make sure you get the 1pm tour otherwise you can run through the place I less than an hour depending on the new exhibit. Probably not worth $5 but wasn't a waste.

Lee Allen

Self guided tours but the staff on hand is very friendly and knowledgeable

Diana Spring

Historical. Must see for anyone medical. Tour only at 1:00.

Jaye Matthews

Great collection. It was well worth the $5 admission. They have guided tours or you can go at your own pace.

Benjamin Svejgaard

Go for the 1 o'clock tour by Owen. For $5 you'll get 45 minutes of very informative and hilarious medical history stand up comedy. This was by far the best surprise in my trip to New Orleans!

Nestor Beltre

Great experience and tour of medical history on Fridays at 1pm

Richard Rohrich

Very interesting, and the guide is very entertaining. Well worth the small entry fee.

Helen de

Awesome-ly large collection of historical artifacts. Doesn't cost very much to get in. I heard taking the tour is an unforgettable experience, I just didn't have the chance to go on it myself. I really enjoyed looking at all the old stuff. I would suggest going earlier in the morning as the space is small. Great old building. One of the better museums in NOLA. Would recommend and return!

Stewart McDonald

We really enjoyed the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum. It was 5 dollars for admission, 4 for a student. It was worth getting the tour, Ruth was very good and added a lot to it.

robert bell

Awesome a step back in time invented coctail here

Alan Berg

Amazingly interesting tour about some detailed history of New Orleans and the medical profession.

Kristina Haxmeier

So interesting! And a great price.

Steve Davis

Fantastic collection of old pharmacy and medical devices from the NOLA area. Very informative guide and 2 floors of ancient relics of a profession that has devolved nowdays to a price shoppers mecca.

Marty A

The guy who gave the guided tour at 1PM is a gem. Don't know if he does it all the time but he is worth the $5 admission & more. The museum is very small but the first floor is very interesting and well presented The second floor less so but there is still some interesting stuff.

Patrick Carroll

Amazing!! Very informative! The tour guide was great very energetic and knowledgeable. Definitely a must see while in the French Quarter. Wish there was better advertising luckily I walked by this place and took a few minutes to check it out!

Meg Dowdy

This place is chock full of curiosities and tourists alike. Worth the $5 admission, but no need for a repeat visit. The space is great for lovers of typography and medical buffs. There’s a nice courtyard where a couple was having their wedding rehearsal. An eye-opening, educational experience in the French quarter.

Sherrie Spaziano

We loved it. The presentation was excellent, engaging and fun. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Laurie Brom

I go here every time I'm in New Orleans, and every time I feel like I'm seeing something for the first time because there's so much to see. Also a lovely courtyard to rest your tired bones in.

Stephen Horton

Very informative and interesting to see.

Sean Anderson

You can not beat the guided tour for $5! Owen was funny, witty, and extremely entertaining. The pieces of history that you encounter are fascinating too!

Kristi Watty

Very interesting and all kinds of little jars and bottles everywhere

Barry Banner

We passed by the windows of this museum a few dozen times on my visit to the New Orleans French Quarter over Thanksgiving week. Each Time I thought to myself, "This looks like a neat place to check out." But each time we had somewhere else that we were supposed to be doing. On our last day, we took a cemetery tour in the morning. After the tour, our guide recommended the Pharmacy Museum as a good addition to the graveyard. We didn't have to be to the airport until 2, so we went straight there. And I am glad that we did! It is quite frightening what people considered as medicine back in the day. It didn't take us long to go through it. and it was only 5$. well worth the price of admission.

michael henderson

Nice little museum... Worth the money and time

Kristie Ying

Worth the visit! Pretty interesting and definitely learned a bunch of history but also just a cool place to scope.

Such a wonderful, historical place. There is so much information, you can easily spend a few hours here. Definitely recommend!

Only $5 for the ticket, lots of history here and lots of artifacts to see. Unlike the voodoo museum which is $7 for just two small room full of craps. You will learn and see lots of pharmacy history here, it also has a voodoo potion section. The famous potion is love potion.

Sooo interesting. We were hesitant to pay the $10 for what seemed like a small store front exhibit, but it was well worth it. 3 story museum with great medical historical pieces. You walk through the pharmacist work space and living quarters. Take a glimpse at how far we've come in the field of medicine.

The pharmacy museum is awesome!! So much cool stuff and medical history. And it's only $5!

If I could give this place a 6 Star rating, I would in a heartbeat! I will admit, when my company booked a tour at a "pharmacy museum," I wasn't exactly thrilled. Our docent, Owen, was AMAZING! His breadth of knowledge and ability to make this history both fascinating and funny blew my mind!

Fantastic tour guide. Very interesting. Definitely check it out when you're in town.

Ossi Piippo

Quirky and interesting, if not very big. Right in center of the French Quarter
