Nothing to get out of your way to visit but if in or coming through Alexandria a neat little museum worthwhile a 30-60 min spin. 1st floor had a well documented temporary exhibition (6/3 - 8/20/2016) "Purchased Lives" about the American slave trade. I would have liked more artifacts or contemporary paintings, photographs. The 3rd floor, only accessible by elevator, had an interesting exhibition of recent paintings and sculptures from local artists.

Rather boring. Art gallery features some art by some Louisiana artists. Some of the art was pretty, especially the recreation of an ancient Christian Chapel. Most of the art was either bland or ugly. Would not recommend going.
