You have the opinions of people like you who consumed the services of The National Quilt Museum (Museum) in Kentucky.
Nowadays this business has a rating of 4.6 over 5 and this score was based on 655 reviews.
You must have seen that it has an average rating is practically the top, and it's based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may think that the evaluation is very accurate. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they are satisfied with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to give evaluations when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Museum corresponds to the category of Art gallery.
I wasn't thrilled when the wife said we were going to stop here on vacation. However I was really impressed with the quilts that they had displayed. They were like works of art. They were not your grandmother's quilt. One quilt had the feature that you had to view it through your phone's camera to see the design. There is another quilt that was made out of Basswood. At 6 feet away, it look like a real quilt.
Unique art, I expected historical quilts and information on the history and evolution of quilting, however there's not much history at all but some amazingly crafted works of art on display that took my breath away. If in the area I highly recommend a visit!
We didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as we did! If you are waffling on whether to fit this into your schedule .... definitely do!
An amazing collection of beautiful quilts. A myst see even if you're not a quilter.
Awesome quilts on display, from all over the world!
Very interesting and worth the time to stop by!
is very interesting first time
WOW. AMAZING! Such talent displayed.
Awesome quilt display!! ❤️
Really enjoyed the museum. Great traditional quilts and new styles. If you're the kind of person who will enjoy a quilt museum you'll find it worth the additional fee to do the guided tour. The guide I had was very friendly and added a lot of great info and insights into the quilts on display.
This museum has beautiful works of art featuring artists from all over the world. Even my 5 year old great nephew enjoyed seeing the quilts. I had no idea that quilting could be so beautiful!
Top notch beautiful work presented!
A wonderful experience. The quilts were works of art. My husband and I spent almost two hours there. Would love to return for another showing. Well worth the price of admission.
Loved admiring the beautifully made quilts and their exhibits. Staff was great and answered any questions you had. I'm not a quilter but I was in awe of how amazingly detailed and gorgeous these quilts were.
The pieces were beautiful the prices were good the staff was rude. Loved the quilts their displayed wonderfully. Self guided tour take your time and enjoy. The staff treated us like we didn't belong in their environment. When we were leaving we joked how cozy the quilts made us feel we could take a nap. Well the "guide" we off on a tangent scolding us like children. These quilts are art worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. You would never sleep under "these" quilts. WOW lady breathe take it as a compliment.
A place worth visiting, beautiful and breathtaking art..
Always a favorite place to stop
A wonderful destination for anyone who loves quilts!
Bucket list for sure. Don't miss their awesome display of quilts.
You'll not find this level of fiber art anywhere else. Exquisite!
My wife loves this place!
Quilts as art... extremely interesting.
From St. Louis, second time there, very enjoyable!
This is just a fabulous Museum. I would never have sought out a museum on quilting, but the artistry and the colors and the design work are simply amazing. I would have been very sorry to have missed this. Thank you American Queen Steamboat company for featuring it on your hop-on-hop-off trip.
Really spectacular if you appreciate any kind of art, but utterly phenomenal if you know anything about quilts. This was well worth the 2 hour drive each way we made on our vacation to Kentucky.
As a captive husband I thought the visit was just for my wife. Wrong. I loved it and learned a lot.
Beautiful works of art!
Display was so inspiring! I loved it! I go every time I'm in Paducah. I especially liked the late hours.
Warming place..lol
Well worth the price of admission. Amazing art quilts and quilts from around the world.
Really enjoyed all the beautiful quilts. Easy to find, nice surroundings and plenty of parking.
Place was interesting.
The National Quilt Museum in Paducah houses some of the most wonderful pieces of art you might find anywhere in the world. Astoundingly beautiful is how I would describe pretty much all of the exhibits on display, a must visit for anyone having an eye for so many styles. Great staff very knowledgeable. It truly is a hidden gem.
Beautiful pieces of art.
I gave it 5 stars because I couldn't give it more. Even the most blase person will be amazed. It's like the Louvre in quilt form.
I hate to be negative about any place promoting the arts but strictly from an aesthetics standpoint this was very underwhelming. Most of the designs were traditional geometric patterns with a high degree of symmetry. There were no particularly innovative variations on this. Some artists tried to mix it up with gaudy colors but that didn't really work IMHO. Then there were forays into realism and they were quite awful-- sentimental cliches. One quilt was a portrait of four smiling dogs. There was one single solitary quilt that seemed fresh and appealing and that was the one based microscope observations of cells. There were a few others that were "getting there" but didn't quite break the mold. Of course approxim2/3 of the museum was visiting exhibitions.
Nice, but not as good as the one in Lincoln, NE.
Cool little spot interesting artifacts great parking for RVs semi-trailers cars fans don't matter and there surrounding residence I very nice and the police are very polite
Awesome to see the different quilts.
Used it as a field trip when I home schooled my eldest daughter.
If you enjoy quilts or quilting this museum is truly a wonderful place. They have many quilts on display. There are various traveling quilt exhibitions that are shown at the gallery too! The range of quilts is amazing. Guided tours are available for an extra charge over the price of regular admission. The staff is very nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. Well worth a visit.
Walking from the parking lot to the front door I could tell the staff takes pride in this museum. The guided tour staff was very knowledgable and passionate about each quilt maker and quilt. The gift shop is nicely organized with an appropriate amount of art, gifts, and memorabilia.
Stopped in random since I was in town and thought heck why not. If you like Quilting then this is the place to go. Bigger then I thought and had a alot of different styles of Quilts. Make sure you check out the wooded Quilt in the Conference Room, it's pretty unique and really life like.
Amazing sites. A must see if in Paducah
Amazing place! It's so much more than just quilts!
Wonderful museum! Very quiet and well lit. Have to go again for their temporary exhibits.
Fantastic wonderful collection!! Must see!!
Everyone was very nice. The quilts on display are some of the best art I've even seen.
An awesome experience for Quilters and non Quilters alike! It's in a beautiful location, near a great historic area, and so much fun!
Unbelievably amazing quilts. It either be Religiously inspiring Or Crushingly depressing! Go! By all means, go!
Lois made it pleasant.
Favorite place for the wife. Gets a great rating from her. Town gets a great rating from me because of the cigar shop, distillery and neat riverfront to occupy my time while she hits the quilting stuff.
Nice collection, above my pay grade of quilting. The staff was helpful. we spent several hours here.
We spent almost two hours looking at incredible artwork. It was fabulous, they have wheelchairs available for free but do have a entry fee, a reasonable price . I could have spent the day there!
It is nice but not exactly what my wife expected. We spent about 30 minutes here. We drove from Chattanooga to see it. You can not take photos of anything in the interior. Photographing will not hurt the quilts so I am not sure why you can't. They on have new quilts on display though most were fantastic I think they need to have some antique quilts also.
Great display of quilts.
Best museum visit I have had in a long time. Can't wait to get back again.
The exhibits change regularly. I stop anytime I am in area. Well worth the trip. Quilts are beautiful!!!
Small but mighty, great quality and craftsmanship. Tour worth every penny. Knowledgeable, helpful and truly polite, wonderful staff!!!
The quilts were amazing to see. However, since this is the National, not International, Quilt Museum, I was disappointed that over half of the quilts currently on display were from Foreign Quilters. I'm not discounting the skill or creativity of the quilting artists. Their work was amazing. Still the work of Americans that is shown on Facebook and other social networking sites is amazing in a different way and done by our own talented crafters/artists. For the quilts... 5 stars, for the lack of representation by American artists committed to advancing the art of quilting, I'm reducing my score to 3 stars.
Wonderful place.
My third visit here. First time that I was allowed to take photos. I found the exhibit featuring women was really good. So many were very real looking especially considering the medium. The artists chose a wide range of important women some very famous as well as individuals that inspired their personal lives. I also enjoyed the youth competition. Amazing what k4-grade 4can make. Each of the three age groups had many good quilts.
A must see for any patchworker or quilter
Even if you dont know much about quilt but just curious, this is a great museum to see some of the best and most creative quilts out there.
You must visit/ these are not your grannies quilts!!!
I took my grandmother to this museum as she has always wanted to go visit. I went expecting that this museum would be something that only my grandmother would like and my brother and I would just have to "suffer through" for her sake. I was pleasantly surprised that that wasn't the case. The quilts inside the museum were not like any quilts that I've ever seen before. They were more like works of art. The different styles, colors, and sizes were amazing. The kind of care and love that were put into each quilt by their artist clearly shows. I am not a quilter or "quilt person" but I really enjoyed this museum! I would recommend this museum for quilters and non-quilters alike. It's definitely something to see if you are in the area. (I know there wasn't any photography or videos allowed in the museum but I couldn't help but snapping off a few shots. I have included them with my review. I hope the artists can understand that I only took the pictures to highlight their works and attract more visitors to the museum.)
Not knowing exactly what to expect, I took my daughter because if her interest in the craft. It was actually very nice facilities and a nice time. I would have rated it higher overall if admission wasn't so expensive. The facilities and exhibits deserve a 5 star rate.
The quilts had no personality. They were art but not used or loved and there weren't that many
Some beautiful quilts, lots of inspiration found. Gift shop is nice as well.
It's wonderful see the amazing craftsmanship and creativity displayed here.
An unique view of an American tradition. Pieces in their permanent collection reflect only artists who participate in the Aq A shows.Traveling shows add to the variety of quilts shown.Photography is now allowed in the museum.
Great motivational place for beginners or advanced quilters. Could have spent all day if my stomach didn't start growling.
I walked in it was immediately welcomed. And then I went into the gallery and was greeted by I volunteer guide who knew so much more than I did about quilting. After a thousand pictures, many smiles and picking my jaw up off of the floor at the wonder of this art form, I know that I will hit this Museum everytime I come into the area.
The talent within these walls.
I took my Aunt here and we both loved our time. Despite what the Youtube guy named The Carpetbagger says I really enjoyed my time. Of course you have to enjoy quilts to even walk in the door. I loved the designs and colours. Lots of amazing one of a kind pieces of work.
First time there in April. A must see for anyone who enjoys the art of quilting
I try to visit at least once a year. The quilts are amazing!
Mind-Blowing Talent!!
Was nice to see the artists work
Fun to look at all the quilt displays
Small venue with beautiful quilts and special exhibits.
The quilts are beautiful. The folks that work there are dedicated, friendly, and helpful. They periodically change the quilts so it is a new visual treat several times a year. My mother in law was into quilting, so my wife and granddaughter love going there. The shops and restaurants nearby let us make a day of it as a half day side trip.
Very interesting and fun to take the kids to. Paducah is known for their quilt show and this place shows the best of the best.
Whether you are interested in the art of the finished quilts, or the skill of the quilters, you will be awed and inspired here! How about a wooden quilt? Or a quilt that you look at through 3-D glasses? Pieced, painted, appliquéd, machine or hand-quilted...they have them all!
Although, I am not a quilter, I was impressed by the quality of the quilts on display. I recommend the guided tour. It definitely adds to the experience and knowledge.
Well, MY FIRST time with my sister. We are both from Missouri. She always finds wonderful places to visit. I wanted to touch them so much. I did take some nice pictures. You cannot use flash! Great people.
Beautiful artistry nice shop inside museum
To begin with I am not a quilter. I don't even sew. But this place was so impressive. I went with a friend who does love to sew and has a passion for fabric. I am sure you could just walk through this museum in a few minutes but we stayed four hours and I hated to leave. We signed up for the guided tour and it was well worth the extra $4.00. There are multiple areas with different themes. While we were there " Fly me to the Moon" and "Van Gogh inspired" were the anchors. Wheel chairs, walkers and benches were available when needed. There was an adorable gift shop with a very knowledgeable staff. The stained glass located in the lobby is simply breath taking.. To me a must see for adults.
Not much else to say but WOW. If you think you're not into quilting, you need to see the artistry going on here. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and there were a lot of fun goodies in the gift shop. Fantastic!
I was not prepared for what awaited me when I entered The National Quilt Museum. I have seen quite a few excellent quilts before, but never anything of the quality of these. There were several different rooms in the museum featuring the work of different artists and there was a room that featured a guest artist. The intricate work and artistry of the quilts was more like a painting sometimes than a quilt. I would highly recommend going to the quilt museum.
This is quilt City USA and the place is amazing high-tech for a place to come see if you've never seen
Amazing works of sewing art!
Amazing to see world class quilts up close
Very interesting place to visit in a quaint historical town.
Was very informative.beautiful workmanship.friendly staff
More of a display place than a museum. Not really what I expected.
Beautiful quilts and great information about quilting. A must see museum it's a excellent experience for the whole family.
Here's just a few photos that I took. These are the one's that caught my eye the most. If you are a museum enthusiasts I highly suggest stop by and look around.
Wow...amazing quilts with such detail and intricate stitching, colors, fabric. I'm not a quilter, but I can totally appreciate the art and craftwork that went into all the quilts I saw. I understand not being able to take photos but man I can't describe the beautiful works.
3 time going and I love it ever time
Amazing work of guilting art.
Amazing experience! I was doubtful (to say the least) about going to a quilt museum, but beauty and artistry completely won me over. There are some lovely sculptures outside that discusses the overlap between the Lewis and Clark expedition and local history. It cost $12 per adult to enter the main museum which may seem steep but it’s an expense that you won’t regret. These aren’t your grandma’s quilts. The variety, skill, and colors are breathtaking! Each quilt has an informative placard giving it’s name, creator and a little backstory. There is also a small gift shop and I would recommend getting the book about the museum so you can look at even more astonishing quilts.
Wonderful as always. The "HERstory" quilts were quite varied and impressive.
Wow. Oh wow. The collection and visiting exhibits are breathtaking. The docents are friendly, very knowledgeable, and helpful. AND you have to see the wooden quilt to believe it. Yes, I spent too much in the store too, but that was expected.
Very interesting place.
Beautiful quilts! The artistry and talent on display is something I can't describe. All around you hear people saying "WOW"
Not what you might expect. The quilts are incredible.
Amazing, inspiring exhibitions. The maker's are true artists.
Reasonably priced. Nice representation of quilts, this place really inspired me and also left me with a lot I of wonder as to the thought process into how some of these quilts are made. You are not allowed to take photos in here, which is a bummer.
Lovely works of art
An amazing museum!!!! So worth the trip!! The quilts are exquisite! The staff is very friendly and helpful!!
These are not your average quilts! It’s really an art museum. I cannot imagine the skill it takes to design and make one of these quilts. I loved it and my teenage son didn’t hate it.
Lots of beautiful quilts .
Amazing place! The displays are so well done.
Lots of beautiful quilts, in several styles. A good variety of quilt makers also.
This isn't about your grandmother's quilt. This is an art museum that happens to deal in fabric arts that are quilted. It doesn't matter if you like quilts. You will be in awe of the artistry and craftsmanship. I loved the Gees Bend Quilts I saw years ago somewhere else and expected more of the same. This is very different. Go. Just go.
This is a fascinating and artistic approach to quilting. We loved it! The fee to get in was reasonable. There are student discounts, too. The staff are knowledgeable and pleasant. I would visit again.
We visited here when we were visiting Paducah last week. The quilts in this museum are not regular quilts. These quilts are works of art. There is one that is so large that it would probably fit on three king beds. There are a group of quilts that look like squares until you look at them through your phone. One of these quilts looks like the Mona Lisa when viewed through your phone's camera. It is really amazing. There also is a wooden quilt that can be viewed. When I first saw it I dis not think it possible to be wood but the artist created it creating a great illusion. It is great.
.So beautiful! Will make s point of stopping in next time we're in Kentucky
An excellent museum with absolutely gorgeous quilts.
The quilts were amazing, the docents so knowledgeable and helpful.
If you are passing through Paducah, be sure to stop here! You will not regret it.
Such beautiful quilts and a great gift shop!
Truly enjoyable experience, would recommend it for anyone interested in folk art of any kind. The workmanship is something to experience. Do spend the few extra dollars for the guided tour.
Would of liked to have seen the old fashion quilts from 1800's AND 1900's as well as modern days.
We were greeted by a delightful lady and handed over to Ruth. Ruth provided an outstanding tour and shared her knowledge as well as answered a tremendous number of questions. It was wonderful. The museum was not crowded and we were not rushed.
Great place. Quilts are wonderful. Will go back, but pretty expensive for retired seniors.
Even if you're not a quilter, this place is worth the visit.
Very nice place great little town I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the artwork it's not really Museum it's more of a gallery but you will still enjoy yourself if you're into that at all
If you love quilts you will love this museum. I spent about 2 hours here on my way to St Louis. The quilts are displayed beautifully and there was plenty of room to get up close to them. The gift shop has fun quilt themed items as well as some precut fabrics and books.
This was another stop for the wife but a fun one. The collection of quilts here was amazing. The docent would not allow me to take pictures She was great otherwise. Very knowledgeable and I really put her through the paces. Out side is a beautiful Lewis and Clark site and statue.
Amazing. Well worth the time.
I stopped in to see a friend’s quilt and was asked about my Service Dog (I am a Combat Veteran and I don’t put a Veterans Vest on my dog). After stating he’s a service Animal I was allowed entrance to the museum. I was speaking with two volunteers when a male employee approached me and asked me to leave with my dog- I told him it was a service animal and he voiced concern for the quilts. I told him I felt accosted and the man told me that I was being accosted! Both volunteers were standing right there! My husband had gone to our car to get my dog’s certifications and the curator approached by the time he returned- I gave her (the curator) information on Americans With Disabilities Act and how the staff might be better trained to work with people and service animals. The curator was more tactful than the man who initially approached me. I saw my friend’s quilt then left! I hope they treat the next person better.
I love it here. Everyone was so friendly and inviting. We took a tour that was helpful to explain the quilts in a way we would understand. My mom quilts a lot and was even able to help out with names of certain things every so often. Also you can visit this place more than one time and it will never be the same. They change the quilts out.
Wonderful selection of quilts to view. Even my non-quilting companions enjoyed the museum.
Nice museum to visit on downtown Paducah. Lots of rich history on quilting and beautiful pieces to view.
Really great quilts.
This place is like a fine museum, only quilts. A little pricey to get in but worth it
An Amazing museum....thank you for preserving our heritage and promoting it!
Wow! Never would have guessed quilts could be so incredibly artistic.
Spectacular variety of modern thru tradional textile art quilts. Will return for new exhibits even though we live 7 hrs away!
A must visit for all Quilters .Very impressive work.
One of my favorite places in Paducah. The volunteers are awesome!
Amazing quilts. Nice staff
Beautiful quilts. Not what you would expect!
Amazing quilts. May make one wondering why they try to quilt. If you want to see the best of the best, this is the place. Town is interesting too with low lodging rates.
Beautiful. Ever-changing.
Amazing we are home to such a wonderful place
Beautiful place. Exquisite quilts
Beautiful quilts worth the time to visit.
Stunning display of quilts. You don't have to be a quilter to appreciate it. My husband loves to walk through too.
Was a great tour speaker was informative.
This is a textile art museum. I saw "quilt museum" and assumed it would not be interesting. But the work that goes into these pieces, from around the globe (yes, quilting is huge in Japan even), will blow you away. We serially spent Hours here! And the staff, so impassioned in giving both the elevated art and the craft of quilting as a gift to each visitor! Truly, we cannot recommend enough
Very respectful staff members. Their welcoming felt sincere. The museum of quilts were beautiful. You are allowed to leave and return the same day if you need a lunch break. Very educational.
An enriching museum for quilters and those interested in artistic expression. There were three distinct exhibits. The traditional quilts were lovely but I found myself captivated by the other two exhibits. Students from around the country had blocks on display that were charming, thought provoking, entertaining, and in some instances, very moving. Another exhibit focused on women and their accomplishments. I could have spent another entire day reading the stories of these women and viewing the ways in which the artists portrayed them.
Just a sample of hundreds of quilts. More elaborate than you have ever seen! Unusual for me to accompany my wife to such a place but was impressed!!
Awesome museum with exhibits that change every few months. We have visited several times and its always worth it. Must see if go to Paducah.
Interesting.Okay because I didn't go inside. Outside was
