My husband and I had so much fun in this museum! It's very well organized so the layout makes a great deal of sense. There are a lot of interactive exhibits that make navigating the museum a super fun and educational experience. The exhibits are well done and interesting. I absolutely recommend this museum, especially if you have children who would enjoy the interactive exhibits. Definitely my favorite museum in Louisville.

This place was interesting. Basic history for the most part. Enjoyed the interactive stuff with my spouse though. My main issue is just the lack of true information on behalf of people of color. I mean I am use to us being left out but there were so many places where I was just waiting to see acknowledgement of black people and people of color in the information that was presented. We had such a small thrown together section, per usual. I think these places only ever choose to really acknowledge us during the civil rights movement. As if this country we did not contribute to so much more from inventions, to farming, to infrastructure practices, hunting tools and processes, the Derby...oh how they love to leave us out of the Derby...anyways, I don't ever intend to go back strictly off of that alone. Otherwise, clean place. Decent atmostphere.

Great museum with something for everyone. A mixture of Kentucky history that stands alone as well as how it blends with broader American experiences. Thee collection of figurines is as remarkable as it is diverse. The Lewis and Clark Experience would be great for kids, very immersive. An excellent stop if you're in the area.

Great value. Discounts after 4 for anyone who comes near closing. Lots of local products in gift shop to support Kentucky merchants. Mostly toy soldiers when we were there. Loved the photos from around the different counties. Strange to see what the photographer chose to represent the different areas of our great state.

I went here to look at the Hunger Games exhibit and had a fun time looking at the lore and the behind the scenes stuff. I've gone here before for school trips and every time I go I learn something new, if that matters. Great place to go for history and some of the special exhibits have been really cool. Highly suggest you visit if you have the chance.

I lpve the new vision of the Frazier Museum. The kids just loved the Lewis & Clark exhibition. I think it is getting a bit worn but I hope they decide to sink some funding into it because the younger ones find it great inter-active fun.

It should be 2 1/2 stars!! Maybe it needs to be updated since the Royal Armory pieces are gone. If it wasn't for the Harlan Hubbard exhibit this would have been a wasted 2 hour one-way road trip. And FOURTEEN BUCKS!! Are you kidding me?!? I almost asked for my money back.

I have always enjoyed the Frazier Museum. They change their exhibits a lot so it is worth checking to see if the current ones are of interest to you. Today we saw the exhibit about prohibition and its ties to Louisville and KY. Quite interesting. It will take you 2 to 3 hours to do your visit justice. What makes it even more interesting is the many restaurants in the area. Makes for an nice day out.

Great museum! Lots of interactive stuff for the kids to play with (and adults too). If you like miniatures, there is the largest collection here that I have ever seen. There is a fun Lewis and Clark exhibit as well. You can tell a lot of money went into this place as it shows. Well worth the trip. Restrooms were nice as well. They sell boxers in the gift shop in case you need an extra pair.

The Frazier Museum has changed courses from an arms museum to the History of Kentucky. It's also the front door of the Bourbon Trail. If you really enjoy the history of Kentucky and or Bourbon Trail this is a DEFINITE! If you're planning an event or wedding they also have a beautiful venue on the rooftop to get married overlooking the Ohio River and venue on the fourth floor to host your reception. The staff is top quality and the venue is beautiful, super clean and easy to work with.

This was a return visit because we enjoyed it the first time. Unfortunately, we felt the quality and quantity was lacking this time. One of the hands on exhibits was closed due to refurbishing and nothing replaced it. One of the things we would have enjoyed was the costume interpreters. On the week if our visit the interpretation story was only done at 9:30 and 4:00. Since we arrived at the middle of the day and viewing the entire museum takes less than two hours to view, we did not see them. Won't be going back.

Really nice museum. They tell you to start from the third floor and make your way down. Third floor has a big Lewis and Clark exhibit with lots of history, some sound effects like your in the woods and a big waterfall video projected onto the wall to show where they ended their trip at the Pacific ocean. It's good for adults and children. Several hands on sections for kids to enjoy. Informative and very nicely put together. Peaceful. Had some Lewis and Clark artifacts but mostly replica stuff and historical markers along with stuffed animals they would have seen on their journey. A big keel boat replica as well. Also on the third floor is a history of prohibition complete with a speak easy area, a bar setup, a booth where you can sit next to Al Capone while watching video segments on related history. Pretty cool area. Second floor has the toy soldier collection along with the first floor area. Pretty large collection donated to the museum. Interesting items here. Most of the second floor was under construction when I went. Guess it will be a bourbon historical exhibit that they hope to open in 2018. First floor has a small number of items as well including a stuffed bison. They have live historical presentations throughout the day but I missed the three they had the day I was there. Parking is close by and $6 for the entire day. Easy to walk really close from that lot which is manned by an attendant and is located under the overpass. Very nice museum. Somewhat small in size but it's will put together and taken care of. Spent about 90 mins here I guess.

Extremely overpriced, an entire wasted floor of lead figurines (huh?), & another wasted floor dedicated to booze. The only redeeming quality was the Lewis & Clark exhibit. Not worth the price though. Kids were bored--they were most excited to ride the elevator.

They had excellent stuff to look at and enjoy they had a lot a whole lot of historical things and facts about Kentucky, and the City of Louisville, and all the parts in Jefferson County, and a lot of historical things that was interesting to look at and the knowledge of things that you may not have known beforehand. It's not too expensive it's kind of low to medium. They have military discounts. I suggest anybody go see it. For all those who love to collect whiskey bottles or bourbon bottles or All the Above they have a huge display of bourbon and whiskey bottles displayed and they all the time and stuff displayed and how they used to tax it with the little tack strip across the top pretty cool to look at for those who are like that.

This museum was interesting. My boyfriend and I love anything like this and we find just about everything interesting. I was expecting maybe a little more....it was such a big building and everything was spread out so far, unreasonably, though. The Mona Bismark display was not interesting to us, though I guess it is to some. Just not a typical history museum I guess, still cool! Gift shop was awesome. They had a little Lewis and Clark skit thing too while we were there, which was cute.

A very clean and well organized museum. As I guy who is not too much into museums I was doubtful when I first walked in. However after seeing how much detail they put into the place I was blown away. I was also impressed on how clean it was there. I never found any garbage or dust anywhere. They also had some very interesting stuff to view there. The descriptions they had on the artifacts where also very informative and straight to the point. The staff was very helpful and will be more than willing to help you out if you have any questions. If you are looking for a fun place to go for the day I recommend going here. You will not be let down.

The Frazier History Museum is a unique and lovely treat on Museum Row. I have to admit that originally I did not imagine the variety of exhibits and shows that I have been privileged to attend at this museum. I have seen Princess Diana’s lovely gowns and so many excellent exhibits. When the Speed Museum was under construction and The Frazier allowed us to visit, was the beginning of truly enjoying this museum. I have attended a rooftop wedding there and that only adds to the special surprises I have enjoyed.

I have been to a lot of museums and this is definitely one of my favorites. It’s not the biggest, but it’s well maintained and it is very detailed. They have 3 floors of exhibits. My favorite was the top floor which is all about Bourbon. Very interesting and they have a impressive bourbon collection dating from the early 20th century to modern bourbons. They also have a really nice gift shop. It has a little bit of everything and a lot of local products.

A great little museum to visit when we stayed the night in Louisville. Conveniently located near plenty of Louisville attractions. Not the largest museum in the world, but has enough interactive exhibits and unique displays that it is worth the price of admission. It also had displays that were great for both me and the wife. She’s a big history fan so most of this appealed to her. I’m from St. Louis so the Lewis and Clark exhibit interested me. She’s big into America folklore to the greatly entertaining tall tale teller was fun for her. I’m a big Hamilton fan so his exhibit was a treat for me. And then of course you have the original artifacts from Teddy Roosevelt and Geronimo. Well worth a visit.

As a "Lover of History," my "Must See Attraction" during a recent visit to Louisville was the Frazier History Museum. The Museum is located in a three-story building in downtown Louisville, contains an impressive collection of historical items, and includes a large gift shop located on the Museum's first floor. The exhibits focus on Kentucky history, but also contain extensive collections of artifacts that will be of interest to residents of Louisville, tourists from Kentucky, and TripAdvisor Travelers.

Visited on 8/30/2019 -- Not a kid friendly place unless they like Bourbon and Bourbon. Was a real disappointment for nieces and nephews up from Fort Bragg (ages 4-13). Was a better place to visit several years ago but now to quote an 11 year old "its boring".

This place is full of history. But, like, actual history, not metaphorical history. The museum wasn't built in 1874 or whatever--heck, I remember when it was established, back in 2004. Not much history has happened since then--*remembers how insane the past fifteen years have been*. Scratch that last bit. Anyway, it's fun and has historical what-have-yous.

Many of the exhibits were closed the day we visited but full admission prices were still charged. They need to rename this place "The Museum of Guns and Whiskey". There is so much more to our history than this that is not reflected in the museum. There is very little that is interactive. I don't recommend bringing small children.

RIP OFF ! ! ! A bunch of junk from this guy's attic and garage. Although, the Route 66 photos and the artwork on loan from Makers Mark were a little above average. Overall, stay away. $14.00 is way too much. Go to the Speed museum, go to the Science center, go to Flame Run. But, not worth the price of admission. Stay away from this place.

I was only able to view happenings on the first floor for a short time. The Museum was very interesting. There were a lot of people flowing in & out who seemed very satisfied with their visit or tour. There was even a luncheon being held on the first floor. I really liked the Gift Shop with great, historical books,etc., & delectable treats ,& the restroom was nice & clean. Good place to take family & friends.

A history museum of Louisville and Kentucky. Really large historical tour of bourbon. They have cool displays of the Kentucky Derby specially labeled Woodford Reserve bottles. Bottle hall has every bourbon currently in production and is a great photo op. The gift shop has some special bourbons and vintage bourbons.

Really enjoyed the temporary exhibit featuring photos of the Great American Road Trip. A fun place to spend a couple of hours. We spent a couple of hours checking out the exhibits at this nice and very clean and lovely museum. There was lots of interesting information and exhibits and everyone was very pleasant and helpful. They do have a bourbon tasting available at a minimal fee - probably a very good deal for those who enjoy bourbon.

A stunning museum full of local and regional flavor. The bourbon bottle display alone is a visual feast (one you could get visually drunk off of), and you get a good sense of the history and culture of a state that has been at the crossroads of so many American movements and eras.

You used to walk into the Frazier and be completely dumbfounded by knights on horses in the lobby, walls full of weapons, and all the crazy cool historical stuff you could ever want to see. I’m a huge World War 1 buff and heard about the Frazier’s WW1 exhibit. Sadly, the “exhibit” was 4 helmets and a uniform. Not only was the WW1 “exhibit” disappointing, but the massive walls loaded with historical weapons and armor dating back centuries were also missing. One wall that once had an amazing array of knives was replaced with some old glass bottles. I don’t know why the Frazier decided to get rid of all of its awesome exhibits and replace them with mediocre ones. It’s sad to see what was such a great museum become one of the worst ones I’ve ever been to.

The Frazier History Museum is a must see. There are multiple floors of exhibits and a gift shop. The gardens outside of the front entrance are a nice spot to take a break. Bourbon is everywhere in this part of the city, and the museum has several exhibits on this, and many other, themes.

The Frazier museum is ok if you're bored and just need a place to go. The hands-on activited can be riveting and the speak-easy was my favorite room by far! Still, it seemed that some of the exhibits weren't fully developed or as interesting as the guide said they were. I was disappointed in finding the colonial dress up section to only be a chest in the corner of the room full of clothes that weren't entirely in the best condition. While this place was fun and very interesting, I felt it was a tad overpriced for what we got to see. I think the top floor is really the only floor worth seeing, as the most noteworthy exhibits are the speakeasy and Lewis and Clark exhibit. At the latter, it seemed there were a ton of fun things to see and read, as well as a decoding station. Overall, the Frazier Museum was fun for a few bored teenagers but not exceedingly impressive.

A museum that does what it sets out to do well. I would reccomend this to anyone who is interested in Kentucky’s history, and bourbon. The Louis and Clark exhibit could of used a bit of an update, though.

Great place to learn about the history of the State of Kentucky. I love the atrium/ garden area outside. I would not recommend for little children it’s not geared to hold their interest. Gift shop is cool and the photo opportunities are endless. It’s a beautiful building.

Jesse James and Edgar Allen Poe, oh Buffalo Bill, pretty dang amazing exhibits! Plus more miniatures than a person can count. Worth the $8 parking and the $6 dollar raffle tickets!

Love going to 2nd Saturday of the month! It gave us an opportunity to see what exhibits are new at the museum. Plus participate in the themed activities. Loved the Presidential Love Letters read, the toy soldiers and interactive Lewis and Clark Section are all Awesome! My son, whose 8, loved it and we stayed 3 hrs.

Complete disappointment. Waste of money. The advertised WW1 exhibit is micro size with one uniform and a few helmets. This place is unrecognizable from its former self where it embodied an extensive collection of weapons and extensive displays that took hours to survey. Third floor was closed and multiple spaces empty. Should have been advised at point of ticket purchase. Seemed to be a heavy emphasis on miniatures with amateurish displays. Apparently they are now trying to capitalize on the Bourbon Trail with construction of a special area, etc..... I’ll never darken their doorstep again.

My grandson is 6, and he loves going to the Frazier. History Museum! We had an amazing time looking at all the exhibits! Two thumbs up!

Nice exhibit space. Really cool museum. I was there for a private event. This space is great for hosting events. If interested I would suggest calling to inquire about rates for hosting your next event.

The Frazier History Museum is a unique and lovely treat on Museum Row. I have to admit that originally I did not imagine the variety of exhibits and shows that I have been privileged to attend at this museum. I have seen Princess Diana’s lovely gowns and so many excellent exhibits. When the Speed Museum was under construction and The Frazier allowed us to visit, was the beginning of truly enjoying this museum. I have attended a rooftop wedding there and that only adds to the special surprises I have enjoyed.

Pretty neat. Great burbon display. Neat items on display.. Like daniel boone, lincoln, washington and others personal and family items. I dont connect with miniatures.. But am sure someone enjoyed it. Gift shop is great. Maps/handouts could be better labeled as they are confusing.
