REVIEWS OF River Discovery Center IN Kentucky

A very interesting small Museum. I believe most kids would enjoy going through it and seeing all the different things. Our grandsons enjoyed driving the Riverboat in the simulator. It was very realistic.

Melinda Girot

Such a neat place to learn about the river functions and history. This was so much more than my children would learn in school.

Such a neat little museum, with wonderfully sweet staff members. My 9 month old even had fun, there's a cute section for smaller kids to play that was perfect for him.

This is a neat fun learning environment. We were greated by the sweetest lady ever. she was polite sincere and informative. The exhibits are laid out in such a way you can't wait to see what's next. A couple of the water features needs some maintenance. But with the interactive tablets that gives you more information as you move through the exhibits you can learn so much.

Our summer program enjoyed going the first year. We received the run around when trying to make arrangements for this summer. We were told 2 different prices and when we asked about a group rate, it was higher then the normal rate. The woman we tried to make arrangements with was extremely rude. We were told to leave a voice mail for another employee that deals with group rates and she called right back with the higher price. Sadly our nonprofit summer program will not be visiting this summer. As an employee of a nonprofit, I find it very sad that another nonprofit would handle business so poorly.

Staff was very personable and friendly.

This museum is a treasure of knowledge and information about our inland waterways. Our nation was built around them, and the River Discovery Center is the perfect way to dive in and learn more.

Great flood simulator. I highly enjoyed the boat driving simulator. Lots of information about how the ohio river helped to influence the city of Paducah.

All right very boreing though.Mosty rude staff also. Then the water fountain takes time to cool down. Then they had to put the bathroom papertowls on the counter. After all that there is lack of staff. Also this is a point of no return for me

Didn't have time to go thru the museum but were greatly surprised at the town and hope to go back and spend a day or two visiting the historical landmarks. Paducah is best kept secret we've run across in our travels. The murals are spectacular.

This museum has a special vocation; it is rightfully called the River Discovery Center. There's so much to learn on how the river is a true cornerstone of the vitality of Paducah and it's people.

This is a very nice little family friendly museum that tells the history of the Ohio River and Paducah. The boat simulator is very fun to operate. The different areas of the museum are very interesting. It is a very "hands on" museum that both adults and children will like. It's definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Maggie Taylor

This isn't really a discovery center. Its more of a museum with a few interactive exhibits. Staff was very knowledgeable about the history of the building. There is a short film (15 minutes) to watch but you cannot watch it after 3 pm and the place is open until 5 pm. The kids did enjoy the boat simulator. I liked the river table but the audio was hard to hear. I'm not sure I think it's worth the price.

Jonathan Bledsoe

Small museum, but best docent in terms of being friendly. They also have a nice simulator and lots of information on life on the river

Mary Britton

Great history story, well told, not just for children.

This unique little museum is full of interactive displays to help you learn all about life on rivers and the town of Paducah. Great for kids. The building itself is one the oldest in town. Upstairs are 3 rooms available to rent for small ceremonies and receptions, complete with antiques and a fabulous view of the Ohio River.

We came here with my sons class on a field trip. I was pleasantly surprised to experience this place. I had no idea this place existed in Paducah. I highly recommend taking your kids here. Adults will enjoy too. Lots of great river history.

Trevor Brashier

If you know someone who works on the river, this is a must. For a child whose parent works on a towboat, it would be perfect. The boat pilot simulator far exceeded expectations as well as the 15 minute film that is shown in an actual theater right there in the building. The upstairs is a fully decorated turn of the century "old south" reconstruction era parlor. The host could not have been more gracious. We stayed about an hour and I am glad we went.

Cat S

Great little museum that gives a brief history of the river's impact on the surrounding area. There are so many aspects that could be covered by them, but with the few they did- they did well. Although there were a few exhibits that were suppressed to be interactive in one degree or another that didn't quit work. But, the barge captain simulator is worth the trip in and of itself. Great perspective and wonderful inside look

This place is fabulous! My husband and I just stopped in yesterday, not expecting much, and had a wonderful, educational experience! Ms. Kemp is the Best! She gave us some information before our self-guided tour and then we progressed to learn so much more. She is a wealth of information... so pleasant and interesting. Should be a teacher!! We loved the tour.

This place has lots of history, it's a great place to sit and take great photos. They have restaurants and horse carriage; even place to use bathroom.

Tim Bullock

Very informative and the boat simulator was a nice touch

Rebecca Hughes

Neat hole in the wall place to visit. Nothing fancy but a good place to wonder around. They have a cute little gift shop as you walk in the door too.

Lehia Mickells

Kind of hoped there'd be more for kids. They found it kind of boring.

Johnna Lewis

This place is educational and gives you the real hands on idea of what the river industry is actually like. Paducah is a river boat town. If you live here i recommend you get educated and this is a wonderful pkace to understand what deck hands go through. Give it a try. It will be very eye opening if you have never eorked the river.

Douglas Meyer

Excellent point of information about the river heritage and history of the Puducha area.

Grace Ortalano

They close at 5:00pm. We got there at 4:45pm so, we didn't have enough time to look at the whole museum. But, its #1 to do things in paducah, Kentucky.

Pamela Johnson

Had the best Daughter Mama day..

Jessica Skeen

This is a great place to visit. It is a good place to go as a family because many of the exhibits are both educational and fun. At the end of the self guided tour, kids are able to try driving one of three boats in a boat simulator. My daughters loved it!
