We greatly enjoyed visiting the home; we had visited it nearly 40 years ago and enjoyed it again. Mary Beth did an excellent job of blending Mary Todd's own story with that of her famous presidential husband. She captured the history and culture of Lexington and the surrounding area. The staff were great, knowledgeable and knew their history. Parking was a bit off due to road construction, but the house itself was great.
Nice tour with a lot of history.
Great tour.
Very nice educational site
Great tour! Our tour guide was great. I loved how she spoke openly and comfortably about the slaves who resided or may have resided in the home as well as the family's possible view of racism.
Nice tour!
Nice piece of history
Interesting, but definitely not worth the $12 per person entrance fee.
Friendly staff and volunteers. Interactive for kids
I highly recommend visiting Mary Todd Lincoln House. The guide has a lot of historical knowledge. There is a lot of things that I did not knew a out Lincoln"s history. Also rhere are a lot of things to see inside the rooms with a lot of history. Very intersting.
Great house tour and only tour in the country for a First Lady. The house is very nice inside with lots of time period pieces. Only a few pieces are original to the Todd family or the Lincoln family. It was interesting to see what the rooms looked like originally before restoration. However, I felt like there was so much more that could be done or said about Mary. The tour just seemed to gloss over her life.
Great tour and the guide was very knowledgeable!
Drove 2 and a half hours to this place only to find that the final tour of the day which was limited to 15 people already had 14 in it. There were 2 of us and they would not make an exception. The young woman at the front was quite rude. A similar thing happened to me here a few years ago. The history may be wonderful here but I don't plan to try this again. They can kiss my ass! I rarely give only 1 star. If you go here I hope you get in and enjoy it but consider yourself warned.
Tours start at top of each hour. Great tour!
The tour guide made this a really interesting trip.
Tour was fantastic- the tour was informative. Was very interesting & reasonably priced to get in. Actually a house with only stairs.
Nicely restored, docent was quite personable and knowledgeable. Cute little gift shop. Clean restrooms. Glad we went!!
Small but worth a visit if you are in the area. Some of the stuff are reproductions or pieces appropriate to the period, not really what was there. This was disappointing to me. However, it was interesting regardless and neat to walk stairs using the same banister as Abraham Lincoln
You would love it if you like history!
Great house tour guides are friendly and passionate about the house and history of Mary Todd Lincoln. Great place to visit in Lexington!
A treasure.
Excellent docents, well preserved.
I love all things having to do with the Civil War era, especially the Lincoln family! This house will take you back to when Mary Todd Lincoln was a girl. So glad it was preserved!
Loves this site and the guides are very knowledgeable!
Staff very knowledgeable.
I was skeptical of how interesting this could be and was pleasantly surprised at the artifacts as well as the knowledge of the docents. Well done!
Love this historical place Lexington KY
Full of history.
Money well spent
Beautiful place and with alot of rich history content. You should definitely visit
I love the history
I have visited the Mary Todd Lincoln house 4 times so far. When family comes in from out of state it's a good place to get some history. The tour lasts 1 hour and easy free parking behind the house. There is a fee for the tour.
Very interesting and informative tour. I learn something new every time
Place was interesting and our guide was very knowledgeable. Tour is an hour, which worked out great since we had to be at the airport within 5 hours. If you're visiting Lexington it's definitely a place to visit.
Lovely small place with extraordinarily good guides. Guided tours every hour (o'clock). Only way to visit. Prices $15 adults $6 kids. Book online to ensure a spot. Accessibility: Some 21 small steps to second floor / no elevator.
My husband and I live in Lexington yet never have visited this house. I am so glad we did today. We loved the tour! Jessica was our guide and her knowledge of the home, the times and most importantly Mary Todd was exceptional. We were transported back in time to feel the impact of the civil war and the death of her family members had on Mary Todd Lincoln. We have toured other historic homes but this tour was more than about the history of house and objects in the home. You got a real sense of who Mary Todd was as a person. Highly recommend a visit.
Our tour guide was great, and very professional. The house was so historical, and I just loved it so much! Everyone in Lexington needs to see it!
A wonderful historic treasure. The house is authentically restored, and the tour guides and facilities are unsurpassed.
Very cool
What a great historical place with such a rich history of the Commonwealth!
Great educational tour, we learned so much about the Lincoln's that we didn't learn in class or books. Early American History is so important, share it with your kid's!!!
Good place to learn about our first lady and it seems her life is full of twist and doesn't have a hot ending.
Loved it, a great place to see. If you can go visit. The tour was great.
So fun. What an amazing piece of history. The guides had a ton of information
Super museum! Very intelligent guide!
5 + stars! Excellent tour by Tom, very in depth & interesting. A must visit when in Lexington.
Tour was fantastic- the tour was informative. My husband and I learned so much about the life of Mary and some about Abe Lincoln too. Great to learn more about a part of history! Some original time pieces in the house, although it was many other things before it was restored back to the home of the Todd's, so lots of things were lost. Would recommend the tour!
Really injured it,the guide was very good
Very AWESOME experience! This has been my first historical tour and am very pleased. To know how far the Mary Todd house has come, from being an abandoned mess, to being threatened with demolition to build Rupp Arena, to being a rejuvenated tourist attraction is truly remarkable! If you are ever in Lexington, make sure this is a place you stop by to see!
Nice place and a great history lesson!? Nice staff.
The house is definately nice. I didnt think I would like the tour as I hadnt really known anything about Mary. I will admit it wasnt boring and they did a beautiful job on the restoration. I enjoy that you can go almost everywhere in the mansion. I will say this would have been a 3 star experience if it wasnt for our wonderful guide Grayson. Not only does he share a name with the caped crusaders sidekick, he was super knowledgeable and very friendly. Make sure to tip or donate at the end of the tour. This group really deserves it for what they have done to keep this treasure entact while the city renews itself around it.
Interesting place.
excellent tour. informative guide.
If you have never been here, you need to go especially with out of town visitors. It is a little pricey but the young lady that gave the tour was excellent. You will learn a lot.
Very knowledgeable
The tour guides were friendly but the place was a little small and decorated to the period instead of being original, so a lot of the history of the pieces is unknown.
Really enjoyed the tour. The house is gorgeous and filled with artifacts from the era.
Spectacular! So much to learn about Mary Todd Lincoln. Go If you can you be amazed
Neat place, limited touring hours.
Great.....
Provided an informative narrative of Mary Todd Lincoln's early years. The docent was well informed and able to answer questions.
Fantastic history! Needs to be added to the national parks list
tour starts every hr on the hr , very nice place to visit
Good place to bring kids Mary Todd Lincoln house is the first house saved that a first lady lived in.lots of history of her family and early life.
I thought it was interesting addition to the historical accounts we learn in school.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
A great tour for tourist or locals to learn more history about the Lincoln's. 3 PM is their last tour which is the one I took. We was not rush during the tour even though it was the last tour of the day. The tour was great and the people were very friendly. They were very knowledgeable. I like how they opened the whole room for you to go in. Henry Clay (great tour, also) ropes off the rooms. You can touch the original staircase that the Lincoln's have touched. The price of the tour is very reasonable. I was going to go on Mrs. Todd's birthday (I believe) which they were doing free tours. The traffic was heavy and I was confused where the parking lot was. This time taking my time I realized how easy it was to get to. The area is a great area. Visit downtown Lexington. The Square (shopping, eating) and Triangle Park are very close to MTL House.
Was a very informative tour. Mary Beth did an excellent job..
Great tour, Jill (I think was her name) was a great tour guide. I must say, though, it was a MASSIVE disappointment that Mary TL wasn’t even home
The Mary Todd Lincoln House tour is delightful. Learned many interesting facts about the first lady and her family. Be sure to check out the garden.
I loved it! I found out many different events that took place I was unaware of before I visited Mary Todd's house. This is a must see for anybody who stops in Lexington.
I wasnt able to get in definitely not handicap i wish they had that listed on clearly but they didnt and i feel trying to get in My momma is very upset
Great tour!
Interesting if you like history
Our tour guide (the man who led the 1PM tour on 3/31/2018) was fantastic, provided lots of facts, and answered many questions.
Get there early for your tour to reserve a spot. On our day we were the last four in that hour's tour and glad to have it work out. The tour was well done, professional, fun, friendly and informative. The house itself is a good spot to begin a visit in that it gives the real feel of how things were in Lexington. Totally recommend it.
Very nice lots of history
Enjoyed our stop at this site. Mary Todd Lincoln, I'm intrigued by her life. Will be reading more about her.
Knowledgeable staff will lead you on a tour where you can see (but no touching please) many actual artifacts from her lifetime.
Interesting and informative trip
If you love history you should love this place.
Have visited twice now and intend to return. This is a very worthwhile tour with a very knowledgeable docent who tells a moving narrative of the challenges and sorrows of Mary Todd Lincoln. Everyone should be aware of this most significant chapter in our national history.
Loved the tour . Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and explained everything. The house is beautiful. Would recommend touring it if you get the chance.
Good way
Go see it, it's great.
I have been here a few times. I like learning a little about our local history. It's fun for all ages.
Loved the history and knowledge of the tour guide. Definitely a good stop on your sight seeing travels.
Beautiful and historic
The way they've restored and preserved this historic spot is incredible. I loved the tour and learned so many amazing things about an amazing family. More people need to know the story of Mary Todd and her family. Definitely worth a visit and the cost of admission.
Great tour. Very knowledgeable and friendly.
tours sold out, wish the sign on the street said that not just OPEN
Wonderful history and kind tour guides!
Best tour ever! Beautiful everything! Can't wait to go again!
This home has a very interesting history during the Civil War. I hope to tour the inside soon.
Such a lovely tour. I really learned a lot about Mary Todd Lincoln and her family. The house contains many pieces that were owned by the family, and they have restored the house beautifully. The tour was an hour long and our tour guide, Tom, did a great job asking if there were any questions. He was very knowledgeable and created an excellent experience!
Very cool!
The guides are passionate about the house. The tour is alright. I don't think it's a big deal to see a bed Abe Lincoln slept in for a day or 2
Alot of history! Enjoyable for entire family.
Great tour!!! Well worth the time and amazing house & artifacts from Mary's house as well as from White House! Amazing walk back in time!!!
Fun trip
Loved the history and authenticity.
Tour guide great 15 dollar for hour tour
Great house. Bad thing, homeless people lay on the sidewalks. So sad
Nice to visit
Interesting, informative, very nice, I would recommend
Our tour guide, Katherine, was super knowledgeable. She answered any questions, and we never felt rushed. The restored house is stunning. It's sad that it was ever left to crumble the way it was before restoration. Full disclosure: (and they don't hide this fact) Mary Todd didn't live here long, and much of the site is a representation of how it was. However, they have collected as many authentic pieces as they could, and that they have restored it so nicely! And they do a fabulous job in telling Mary's story so that you truly empathize for her.
Couldn't not get in side.
Well worth the time and ticket. Learned a lot about a very amazing First Lady.
An interesting tour and reasonable for the price.
Pricey .Guide was great. Free parking is available behind house. I only mention this I paid $5 at a downtown lot. Adult admission was $12, so it will depend how much value that you place on history.
Touched the stair railing that Mary Todd and Abraham Lincoln touched. Amazing piece of history. Tour guide was excellent.
The house has had a beautiful renovation to reflect what life would have looked like! I particularly loved the tools reflecting different time periods of Mary’s life before, during and after being First Lady
Well developed with a few original items.
Our tour guide was lovely and the stories within the house were absolutely facinating.
I was enchanted with the house. Highly recommend especially if you are a history lover. Free parking in the back.
It was awesome!! The guided tour took about an hour and the guide knew his stuff. It was well worth the 15 dollars to get in
Great tour and interesting information. Our whole group loved it from 13 year old to 18 year old plus parents. Kept everyone's attention! Great activity for newbies to Lexington!
Excellent tour, very informative. I have been there twice and they keep getting authentic items from family members, etc. Definitely worth visiting and this helps to keep the house open and in good repair.
Didn't get to visit because they closed it fo the winter. Pretty cool piece of history
Nice little tour of an old historical house. A good visit to spark the interest of MTL's life.
Hidden gem
It was really good! I wouldn't travel from real far away to get to it tho. It's a big house but not huge. Takes about an hour for them to show and tell which is very informative. Really professional employees.
Great tour.
Very informative great history lesson
It was a fantastic tour given by a very knowledgeable tour guide who's name I can't remember. If you like history then this is for you.
I loved the tour of this house!!! What a great piece of history that is well preserved.
Historical value worth trip. Nice guides and interesting books in gift shop.
Excellent restoration and very knowledgeable tour guide.
Interesting history for us.
Very detailed informative tour, learned alot!
Awesome piece of history, I learned a lot about the Todd and Lincoln families! Price is very reasonable
Great staff, very informative .
The docent brought this house to life and I could imagine what it was like in the 1800s. Very knowledgeable and presented in an interesting way for all in the tour. I've always wanted to visit here and it did not disappoint...This tour was the highlight of my spring break! If you're looking for books, you've hit the jackpot at this gift shop. I knew very little about Mary Todd Lincoln, but learned so much during the one hour tour of her family's home. The docent was very knowledgeable and really gave us a great education on a frequently misunderstood First Lady.
This is a great piece of history to go visit. The lady that guided our tour was amazing. She brought history to life with her stories. A must stop location for Lincoln history buffs.
Tour was expensive and long. Gift shop staff was very friendly
Great information on the back story of Mrs. Lincoln.
An very informative tour guide which showed us around the house for about an hour. I would recommend this place for people who enjpy mid 1800 history.
Didn't expect this place to be as good as it is. Learned a lot.
Very well preserved and of great historical importance.
Many items were actually her's and the guides were very informative
Really enjoyed the tour of this house. Our guide Mary was very knowledgeable with so much wonderful information about American history and how Mary Todd Lincoln and her family fitted into this time period of great turmoil.
Excellent! Very knowledgeable guide with a good sense of humor.
Nice tour free parking afterwards to walk the short distance to downtown
This was a great tour and experience! I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to visit this piece of history.
Love the history of this beautiful home.
The tours, which fill up fast, don't just go into the history of the building, but delves into who Mary Todd Lincoln was herself. The tour which lasts an hour is packed with interesting history and the guides are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I recommend getting tickets early as each tour is limited to 15 people.
I love History and being able to step back in time for a min help you appreciate how far we've come.
Had no idea this was in Lexington. I was setting out for a run and saw this on the map. Unfortunately, it was closing, but if you're in the area this is a must see. My photos aren't special, as I didn't go on the tour, so I'll leave those out.
Was very interesting & reasonably priced to get in. Actually a house with only stairs.
One of the best historical tours I've been on. The "guides" were great, with many insider stories about Mary. The items in the house were very interesting. I would recommend this for anyone in the area with an interest in history. The house is lovely. .
Learned a lot. Great guide.
Enjoyed thoroughly!!! Guide did a wonderful job!
Lots of original pieces and in depth history
Historic home of Mary Todd Lincoln. Knowledgeable tour guide. Elegant mansion built at a time when indoor plumbing was a luxury.
Very informative
I want to thank Jill for an excellent tour!!! The lady in charge of ticket purchases was also very friendly. The tour was extremely informative and boy did I learn quite a bit about Mary Todd Lincoln.
We had a wonderful visit. Tour guide was the matorof a local town and did a fantastic job, you could hear his love and enthusiasm for this house and Mary Todd Lincoln's history. $15 may see pricey but it all goes to preserve the history and is worth it.
If you enjoy touring historical homes, you will definitely enjoy this tour. The tour guide did a great job and told several engaging anecdotes about Mary Todd and the Lincoln family. The home is well-preserved, and great care has been taken to acquire many authentic family artifacts.
