This Museum is included in the category of History museum.
Fundraiser included a nice meal and jazz band. Museum is small but interesting if you like railroad history. Walk through the train was a nice trip back in time.
Charming and a step back in time. Well worth a trip for those who love trains.
It’s a bit small. Definitely not an all day trip. But the train was pretty cool and the kid giving the tour was very knowledgeable. The kids loved getting to touch all the little things they had in the train and the videos
Beautiful historic venue for weddings and events in addition to a train museum that's open daily. Staff was great and venue is large, very clean with great amenities. Highly recommend.
Nice museum. Kids loved it. Tour guide was excellent! Great with the kids and informative.
My kids love it
I didn't like their show. but if u have kids u can take them and they may have some fun
Was in a movie that was shutting there pretty cool place to visit if you're into train's really nice place to visit
Had our sons rehearsal dinner there and the event coordinator was most helpful. The atmosphere was quaint and like a by gone era. Very romantic. The catering kitchen was clean and had the needed basics.
Great stop when we were visiting Bowling Green. Huge model train, train tour, museum, and gift shop.
Nice little museum, great tour. Good place to take the kids
Tour guide was great. Loads to see. Well worth an afternoon.
Very informative about the railroad system fun for all ages
Great tour.
Beautiful facility and very courteous staff.
Rail cars in all sizes. A train lovers delight.
Great place. Leave plenty of time to see everything.
Learned all about what life was like on trains back in the day. Felt like we stepped back in time.
Excellent tour! Very nice museum.
Nice historical place.
We had a lot of fun! Very nice and informative. Great for kids and adults! We arrived half hour before the next tour and couldn't wait for the following one (we were on time schedule), so they did a private tour just for the four of us! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and just very nice! We highly recommend this museum!
This tour has the potential to be amazing. Inside the railcars is great but our guide was not the most informative and was hard to hear at times. I would definitely invest in the microphone and speaker that attaches to clothing. Also sometimes the guide was already in another car talking and bc of the amount of people we were just getting to experience the previous car. So we were always like 5 steps behind, and missed a lot and then others in the group had to pass the word on to the ones in the back. Then the video we watched never said why the Pullman porters were so important to American history. It was like a 10 min preview for a very informative documentary but never gave any more information. I left very frustrated. Very rushed and like I wasted money.
Brunch with the bunny so much fun for the little ones.
Very small. Have to wait for a group tour to get into the train. Some nice info, but just not enough there to really be a museum.
Interesting place. Get there early for train tour.
Excellent museum in the old Bowling Green train station about civil war era and early trains. They also have model train set setup in the building.
John, a volunteer, did a wonderful your. Very good museum as well
The gift shop is FREE to walk around and enjoy a model train display of Bowling Green. Every hour or so they have guided tours of a vintage train. They have an engine, mail car, dining car, and a luxury private car as part of the tour. The train depot has many of the original features from the bygone era of travel by rail. My 5 kids really enjoyed themselves.
Fascinating history of railroads and Bowling Green. The train parked out back was very interesting to explore and the model trains inside were very cleverly laid out. We will go back again when we have more time.
Groupon brought us to this slightly dull museum, that exists in an old (but beautiful), converted train station in Bowling Green, KY. There are two floors to “explore” - that display things like old uniforms, photos, and past paraphernalia related to trains - with an emphasis on OLD. Most of it was about Bowling Green and the Civil War, hobos, or Civil Rights/Jim-Crow laws. No real explanation on the engineering/mechanics of trains, or their construction. Nor was their any modern information like graffiti on trains, bullet trains, commerce with trains, the future of trains, etc. Most of what is available to read/view felt kind of like something you would be required to look up at your local library, if you were doing a report for school - very perfunctory and my wife and kids were ready to leave after about 5 minutes. I’m not really a fan of trains too much - maybe they are a bit passé, and this museum seems to like it that way. The miniature train display was kind of cool, in a fleeting way - but broken and not functioning. The gift shop was a simple junk store tourist trap. We took the guided “tour,” which consisted of a group of us following a lady through the few hot, smelly, decrepit, unsightly, and slightly gross rail cars that are on site, and we watched a couple of random, worthless videos. All-in-all, it was a bust- sorry it’s a “PASS” in my book.
This is a must stop for anyone who loves trains and their history. Take the tour and visit the museum. Don't rush through it, take your time and look at everything.
Enjoyed the tour .
Didn't get a chance to look at the museum, we got thru the fun train tour and my toddler decided he would rather play with the wooden train set up in gift shop. People working there were very nice. My family is planning to come back soon.
Great
It was a great experience. The building was restored beautifully. The tour of the passenger trains was very detailed, and the guide answered any questions we had.
Great venue that usually hosts some fun events. Does the polar express for the kids during the winter. Adult events as well. We had our high school reunion here, too. Very nice vintage building.
The RailPark is beautiful. But it is sponsored be the public and private donors and you must be a member to make any photo's. Dont think it is fair if we the tax payers are funding it!
Interesting, well laid out museum.
I had a wonderful experience the tour guide was very knowledgeable about the rail cars and trains.
Very helpful! GREAT PLACE TO VISIT!
We had a great time today. Learned so much. Will be back.
Very nice place. Museum is handicapped accessible...tour of the trains, however, has no handicap accessibility.
Had a lot of fun and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Just wish the hospital car was ready.
Very educational and interesting
My daughter didn't care much for the museum (she's a little young though) but she LOVED the rail car tour.
Awesome place learned a lot.
Awesome to see the historic business car and Pullman sleeper, mail car and locomotive. The staff were really helpful and went WAY above and beyond. The museum upstairs was very well done, highlighting many aspects of rail passenger travel.
Took my grandson he enjoyed all the collectables, the gift shop and the museum. I was slightly offended by the Pullman exhibit though I should not have been. It's a fact like the segregated Tuskegee Airmen
Has a nice model train layout in main building. Not much railroad stock. Might be worth a visit if you're in the area.
Very interesting place. Lots of history, plus the train car tour was awesome. The tour guide and other staff were very friendly and informative.
Interesting display of the diesel engine and its history ... tour of the diesel engine and other rail cars ... the staff was very friendly and made our visit very enjoyable ...
Very neat museum small but neat.
Dope cars I still dont understand how they turn tho. You know cuz they had no steering wheel. They did have levelers and shiz I dont understand how they turn with thos. However, they did have comfy beds. So I would stay a night again.
Great railroad park. Nice operating models and retail store. The historic train on site is a great historical attraction.
Great place to visit and great price.
It was good
Nice museum in an historic rail station. Nicely restored passenger cars to go through with a knowledgeable guide. Worth the visit.
Our tour guide, Mr John, was awesome. He kept our kid's attention the entire time. The kids didnt want to leave. We thought it would be a quick one hour visit but were there for 3 hours. Could have spent another hour...at least.
This is a very interesting place to visit, it lets you learn about the Railroad system in Bowling Green as well as in the state of Ky and shows you all the different trains through the years as well as the clothing and other items that were used from the 1800's to present day. Highly recommend this adventure.
Tour guide was good. Wasn't a fan of halloween decorations in one car (not opposed to Halloween decorations in general). One car is leaking (a rainy day). Probably, great if you are a railroad/train enthusiast and or school age children. It does have good history boards/exhibits inside.
Fantastic little historic tourist stop. The tour takes you back in time through the main historic train on the track. The tour guide was super knowledgeable about the history of old trains and took us back in time with fascinating stories and anecdotes from a bygone era of riding on the rail. The museum has a few other incredibly unique historic train cars that are being restored as well. If you’re from out of town or lived in Bowling Green and never been, I highly recommend checking this unique historical attraction out. Even if you’re not interested in trains or historical museums, the tour through the old train is worth the visit.
Wonderful guide ...learned alot from Nick.loved the museum
Very nice place to go to the gentleman that gave us their tour was very knowledgeable about the railroad
Train tour was very informative.
Pet friendly (as long as you can hold your well behaved dog in your arms), knowledgeable staff, historical, great for kids, full size train tour, extensive model train... great visit! For locals they have a model railroad club to join and help build up the model and scenery.
Love looking at the trains and when we went it was for the Christmas event, Polar Express. My grandchildren, daughter, son and I loved it and had a great time!
This is such a cool place! The train car tour was my favorite part. So much history there. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, the model train display was very impressive and the museum was wonderful. I was able to get a Groupon for discounted admission but full price would have been with every penny.
Place is cool, recommend you check it out
Great place! The restored depot is very nice. The train tour is pretty cool and the model RR layout is awesome. Had a great time!
We really enjoyed our visit. The history of the train Depot and the Civil War was very interesting. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and personable. The train was so intriguing. It was great to imagine all the people and experiences from the past. We can't wait to take a modern day train excursion. You will the experience.
I didn’t know if I was going to enjoy this museum. I like history but I’m not that into trains. But this museum was way better than I thought. The train depot itself is very big and is well maintained. There are two floor of exibits that are self-guided and then a tour guide takes your through the five train cars. Our tour guide was very friendly and informative. I’m glad they have preserved this depot and these train cars. Very cool part of local history.
Self guided tour would have been jsu as enlightening, however interesting in the president's car. Tiny exhibits. Glad we stopped.
A very nice railroad museum. The young man (Luke) that took us on the tour was very knowledgeable. We enjoyed touring the rail cars.
Don't let this place fool you. It's a great place to visit. The museum is really small and disappointing but the tour through the different train cars really made it great! Our tour guide was wonderful and knowledgeable about the railroad, the different train cars, and it's history. It's worth a visit if you are in the area.
We love trains great place ....all aboard for a beat adventure
Fun and informative. As a person who ride the train a bunch as a kid, I Loved the focus on porters and kitchen staff. Great job!
Great history of the L&N railroad. Neatly preserved engine and cars from various times. Museum has a great accord of the RR in this area
Awesome display of the trains. Next time We are bringing Grand children.
Nice, but not worth the cost. If I would have known what it was I would have skipped it.
Had a super awesome time doing the haunted lantern tour tonight! The actors were really great and engaging. The stories they told were really entertaining. So nice to have a haunted type attraction that doesn't just involve being chased by people with chainsaws or just a maze full of cheesy jump scares.
My husband and I stopped by here on vacation since he likes trains. We had a great time! Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and passionate about what he was doing. We were able to tour the train and see how the cars were set up when the train was in use. There is also a two floor self guided museum that allows you to explore railroad history. For someone who knew absolutely nothing about trains prior, I had a really good time. This place is definitely worth a visit!
This is a wonderful place! Come visit! Very important history!
Very educational
The 2 year old loved it. It's basically a tour of one train and a gift shop. Wasted opportunity because they've clearly restored the old train station, but none of it is really utilized on the tour.
Enjoyed an excellent trip to Historic RailPark & Museum in Bowling Green, KY. Very interesting exhibits and really enjoyed the Guided Tour of the L&N passenger train cars (included with Museum admission). The guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining.
Good place to learn about l&r railroad history
Great experience and education
Very interesting great place to visit worth admission.
Santa the tour guide was very slow in talking. it was way too hot to keep everyone in an enclosed area for so long. Better to come on a cool day and without annoying families and their rude selfs!! Was horrible. FYI.. the dining area smells like mothballs
You can go through a passenger train from engine through the sitting area, sleeping, dinning, kitchen, cooks quarters, presidents suits and dinning and the presidents lobby. You can go through the museum that tells you all about the trains and the stories relayed to them. Worth the time.
Nice place.
We loved the museum and tour. Not to mention the friendly staff! So many facts, history and stories!
Alot of info packed into this muesum. The tour of the historic rail cars was a neat experience.
Beautiful building. The nearly 100 year old hand laid ceramic tile in the depot is art in itself.
Factual and interesting exhibits. Professional quality. A must for railroad buffs.
Was taken there for a FATHER'S DAY gift, a little stuffy in one of the cars were I couldn't breath but overall Grrrrrrrreat place for us big kids, oh the little kids will love it too. Got to see the set up inside
Just as I remembered
It was a lot of fun experiencing being on a train
Cool building and train but not a lot to see
Its always fun here and very surprising about bowling green history its a nice family trip worth taking
Very informative and entertaining. It has a couple of cars that they haven't ready yet.. A hospital one an a John Crowe car that was made during segregation period.. I am going back after they're restoration or them...
If you love trains , thisbis the place to visit!
Excellent museum. Especially the guided tour of the L&N passenger train.
Wonderful place to learn about the history of the L&N railroad.
Great for train and model train fans
Fun for the whole family. And very informative
The Civil War History (including tie in to Lincoln and his Presidency) is a reason to visit this little museum. The model train layout is very detailed and if you do enjoy this hobby, you can also find info on the model railroad group here as well (it is nice to see the creativity of others in scale ...). There is also info on the pullman cars and their employees. Although the cars and engines don't move ... it is a good thing to walk through the restored cars to have an appreciation for the work and lives of those who manned these cars. (Including the dangers they faced) Quite intriguing how common phrases morphed into other meanings too
Nice museum dedicated to the days when Bowling Green was a major stop on the old Louisville and Nashville Railroad. There is a large model railroad just off the gift shop. Most of the information is upstairs with lots of displays and nostalgia pieces. There is even a section on hobos. We were there for a brunch meeting and toured it afterwards. I believe there was a birthday party going on in one of the train cars. We'll worth a look if you have an hour or two to browse.
My cousin got married here. It was absolutely gorgeous. We got to go through the museum while we waited. T was a very cool very nice place
The history, artifacts, and knowledge of your guide...this is a must stop for anyone in the area. You won't be disappointed.
Excellent food, server was fantastic
Seemed cool,.. Closed when I went.
We went on a Halloween event called the haunted train. It was not what we expected, instead totally awesome. Actors and actresses were super!!
Any time we are meeting up in KY to pick up or drop off his son, we go here for a meet. The little boys and my big boy (28 yr old other half) absolutely love this place. They offer an interactive train table inside for the kids, but have a huge model railway set up inside as well. You can purchase tickets and get a tour of the museum and tour the old rail cars they have along a track out back. In addition, which my little boy just loved, it sits along the active railway and we got to watch two sets of trains go by.
Went to a beautiful, spacious wedding here.
Neat train set and full tour is available for $14.
The guided tour of the historic train cars was amazing!
It was interesting, but a little dry. The artifacts were amazing, and the history was nice. I hope the can keep working at it because it could be something amazing.
Great Guide. Very knowledgeable. Worth a see.
Very detailed and in depth tour took a very long time still pretty good though
I was there for a wedding reception. It was very nice place. I loved the carvings on the glass.
Staff are nice and they are great at what they do.
Great building and a nice guided tour of classic railcars and a locomotive. I showed up minutes before closing but the docent still took me on an informative guided tour of the station and the railcars. Great history of the area and the use of the WWII era cars.
Tour was boring. Cars were neat
Wasnt what I expected it to be
Worth the tripLoved this place. The tour was fun, Cory was very informative. The museum had so many great exhibits...lives of the workers, civil war, segregation...
Impressive!
On the website it says their open on Mondays. We drove hours to get here and they were closed. This needs to be updated.
Nice for families w. Sm. Children. For adults are very nice educational displays.staff friendly.
amazing place... It was really great to be able to run the train and see it operating in action and go through the countryside near Hershey... An amazing place and grateful to have the opportunity to go
Great guided tour and awesome little museum. My 4 year old and 1 1/2 year old both loved the exhibits!
A good day! People were very pleasan t.
I was totally impressed with the 1940's passenger train. I've never seen such a fine speciman that has been kept in it's original condition. Charlie, our tour guide was superb. Actually stepping back in time when walking through this train.
We loved the guided tour of the train. Our four boys enjoyed hearing about the history and seeing the cart. We would definitely recommend.
The museum is a great place for tourists!!!
Marginal knowledge of trains. I expected more trains and exhibits. Our tour guide did not know anything about trains...I knew more and I dont know much
Tours of several historic train cars. Highly detailed and informative in both the tour and the museum. There's also a large scale model town with trains. An informational video is shown prior to the tour, but you can watch it without taking a tour. The only issues are that there can be working trains passing while touring; making it impossible to hear the guide, and if you aren't near the guide during the tour, and his head is facing forward as he walks and talks, you will miss information.
This was a very interesting place to visit. Self guided tour or guided if you are there at the right time. Lot of interesting information on the railway from the Kentucky area. If your a train enthusiast of just like history, great place for a hour or so tour.
Wonderful tour and many historic displays in museum. A great spot fr any railfan or history buff.
Website stated it closed later than it did. Was disappointed to not get to do a tour but did get to see the museum for half price.
Great place to remember the old railroad history of early times. And to still have modern trains pass by everyday.
Nice place to visit and learn some railway history.
Neat place to visit and Cory was a great tour guide!
Well done make sure you go up stairs, that's where the history is a well done stop in time
Both of my boys loved this place.
I love that place only cause I love trains
