This Museum is included in the category of Museum.
This museum has a good amount of educational displays and a good variety. The military section was in depth and objective, plus it had lots of artifacts. The third floor kid area had a dress up stage, puppets, toys, books and coloring pages. The artifacts downstairs were nice. There was fossils, ancient artifacts, pottery, coins, and some geology. It isn’t the hugest museum, but a good sized place. My only complaint was the prices in the gift shop were a bit high. After we visited we went to River City Brewery and had an excellent meal. Very convenient parking was right by both the museum and brewery, making it a wonderful afternoon.
This museum has good displays of artifacts.Nothing wrong with that. The scientific info is sometimes outdated. But the artifacts look like the went to a museum garage sale and picked up some artifacts that were cheap and left over. I cannot see any theme that would distinguish this small museum enough to put it on a "might enjoy" list. I waisted 2 1/2 hours walking through it.
Some amazing gems hidden away here. Was humbled and in awe to stumble across an original Peter Force copy of the Declaration of Independence in a back hall. Very nicely displayed militaria collection.
This museum has a little bit of everything. They have Ivan the T-Rex, mummies, some of Marilyn Monroe's items, things from the old west, and an awesome collection of ancient jewelry. Of course there is so much more too! And they host unique events. A huge benefit is also their location. The museum is smack-dab in the middle of Old Town so it's surrounded by local eateries an bars. In the summertime, a farmer's market is held directly in front of the museum. There is never a lack of something to do or see when you go. I can't recommend it enough!
Good museum to pass time in down town Wichita.
A nice little museum with plenty of exhibits to explore.
Great place for fun family time
Wonderful way to spend an afternoon! Both my 8 year old and 1 year old enjoyed it here! They have a play area of children on the top floor.
I loved it. I have been twice. Love love
There are a couple of floors of interesting exhibits but too much focus on wars for me. The kids really enjoyed the third floor, where they could dress up and put on plays, plus there was a puppet theatre.
I've been here twice now and I've had a great time every time
Great Museam in Wichita, Kansas. Please be sure to consult the website for events.
Really cool place! Very interesting "treasures".
A little Variety of history around the world. Perfect for my teenage girls
What kind of museum is this? Natural history? World history? American history? Oddities? Science? The answer is "All of the above!" We went on a Summer Monday, right when it opened and we were the only ones there for ten minutes or so. After that, others started joining us but I would not call it crowded for the entire three hours or so we were there. With such a wide variety of types of exhibits, it either keeps your attention or gives you whiplash. We happened to like it.
Didn't knew about this place until I volunteered for community service. Was amazed to look at their all collection from world war weapons to empriors. Tickets are but expensive ($43/person) but as I volunteered I had a free way on that day.
Good museum and good price
Is a very cool place to take the kids they love the dinosaur exibition, and me personally loved the egipcian one!!! Thumbs up
A amazing place to visit
Staff very friendly lil cousin loves going everytime we visit Wichita
Interesting place with good displays.
Had a good time. Took our 4yr old grandson...he loved the dinosaurs and the play area upstairs. Quite a variety of stuff to see from diverse periods. Easy to get to and reasonably priced...restaurants nearby.
Great variety of exhibits. Genuine artifacts. Definitely a great place to learn and see something new
Super neat! And great Employees!
Lots of exhibits and a wide variety of subjects. Very worth the cost of admission.
This place is an amazing day trip for your young children and adults who love learning. It makes for plesant morning or afternoon spent looking at history and living in tge moment with those you love. Bring even small children who will love the play area and puppet playset. Your toddlers who can participate with the interactive exhibits and will really like the dinosaurs. Teens and adults can appreciate the descriptive and detailed placards from the real mummies and an extensive marble budda colletion to the presidential signatures.
So much to see!
There are a variety of old history items on 3 floors. Enjoyed observing so many items and taking photos of lot history items.
Had never made it out until last night and was super impressed! Do yourself a favor and check out this hidden treasure!
Super cool museum, even better than expected! Highly recommend it!
Note that the three stars has nothing to do with service or with the contents of the museum. I just simply think that it could be a little more interactive. Yes I know that funds are probably hard to come by but the city should definitely invest in it. I enjoyed everything about it tho.
Very fun and educational. Great variety of exhibits. A must see
Great museum in downtown Wichita. Pretty broad in scope so a little limited in actual things to see but there is a TON of information that you can get from all the stuff they have in here. While no restaurant, there is an area you can rent for private parties and they allow or bring in food for those events.
Wonderful staff! Highly recommend taking the Behind The Scenes Tour!
Loved it!! Great time here!! Absolutely loved stopping here with the family last weekend for Customer Appreciation Day! Got in for half price for our party of 5. The 3 year old was free. The kids and my husband and I had a blast seeing all the dinosaur fossils, world relics-along with participating in all the extra activities the museum staff had going on for the kids. There was a farmers market going on outside which was super cool. They had this really cool kids play area on the 3rd floor that was super nice, especially for my 3 year old who had to refrain from touching everything. It was nice to go up there and let her run around to play and touch and to get away from all the stimulation of the museum. The entire area surrounding the museum is awesome! Very urban, reminds me of NY, loved being so close to additional shops, boutiques and restaurants. Will definitely recommend to anyone with kids/families. Something all ages of the group can enjoy. Will definitely be returning!!
A really cool experience for a minimal entrance fee
Lots of cool stuff, lots of character.
The museum has great information and excellent style. The hands on activity was great as well. I look forward to coming back sometime to learn more about what is didn't get to see. Johnathon Garr, Student of CCES.
They have some cool stuff, but it's not laid out very well and the exhibits aren't very professional. The kids area is amazing though! The WWII and Vietnam exhibits are both really good. The T-Rex is reality cool but hard to appreciate because it's crammed in a small area. My kids enjoyed it, but they did comment that it was dark.
So cool!! Who knew you would find such things in Kansas.. So much to learn and see..
Grand Son Had A BLAST
I loved it because all the stuff there is interesting. I also love history
Interesting and diverse collection of historical items. There's nothing I can think of that I haven't seen elsewhere, but that shouldn't be held against them. It's an enjoyable and educational visit.
I had no idea what to expect when I found myself with several hours to kill on a hot July day in Wichita. I was told it would take an hour and half to 2 hours to go through the museum. But, I found that it was actually about 3 hours because there was so much to see. I especially appreciated the dinosaur skeletons - so amazing! Also, LOTS of military and presidential info. My Wichita afternoon was wisely and pleasantly spent.
Very interesting and informative.
An inservice Professional Development for Elementary Music and visual art teachers. Wonderful place to explore as Single or Family oriented. Just wasn't there long enough to see all exhibits.
Very interesting place, great pieces of history! Definitely go if you get the chance :)
Fascinating place and well worth the admission! Will be going back to get more of the massive content they have.
Had a great time here with the kids. Plan on at least two hours to see everything four if you like to read. Pricing was good 25ish for three of us.
I have an 18m old son that was able to enjoy it as much as I could! They have a play area on the top floor just for kids!
It was awesome, spent 4 hours and it wasn't enough time to look at everything. Will definitely be going back !!
Amazing place i found so many great things to look at and learn about. I truly enjoyed the mummies most of all although the fossil where in a close race!
They have great stuff here. The only complaint is that the layout lacks flow. Especially the second floor. They have mummies here which was surprising. I was honestly impressed. We spent over two hours and didn't get to finish.
This place was actually much cooler than I expected! There are examples of literature, fossils, and historic elements from every period of U.S. history, including wars. Spent a lot more time here than I thought I would. Definitely worth a visit!
Interesting history collection. Worth the trip!!
So much to see! Fun for the kids also!
Wonderful place to visit. Amazing history and artifacts. You can take pictures in a couple of different parts of it,with costumes. If you're lucky, you might find a friendly Samaritan to snap a pic for you and your significant other as king and queen. And the friendly atmosphere throughout the area was very warm and inviting. Don't miss out on it, and go.
Went for the first time in years and it was just as I remembered. It was amazing and definitely will be coming back!
We really enjoyed exploring this museum.
This museum seems to be small from outside. But it’s a real treasure with vast collections. Not all museum can attract people’s attention for a long period, but it’s collections are so catchy that your legs may be hurt but your curiosity for exploring more will not cease. Had really great time there at our second anniversary. Dinosaur was huge, like 2/3 floors height. World war history related collections was so informative. I saw the fragments of grenade from war, the tools, dress everything related to world war. America’s president from 1st to present and their well known quotations was a fun reading. Hand writing of Einstein and Darwin was also important find. I saw the real mummy here, which was terrifying. Finally, at museum shop there was a huge map of world, they gave us two pins to point our origins. We pinned our origins and it was really memorable.
This place is awesome. I never expected to see so many interesting artifacts in one place, especially in Kansas. They have everything from mummies to civil war artifacts.
History made fun
Fun place. The chronology i dr a bit confused, but 8t had some really fascinating exhibits.
Best museum yet. Our group was aged 6, 9, 18 and 40's. Variety of different things to look at and for kids to do. All ages had a great time. Highly recommend if you're in the area. Very affordable as well.
This is a fun museum with a wide variety of exhibits, from dinosaurs to ancient Egyptian mummies to World War II. They also have a kids play area. Definitely worth a visit. Or two or three!
Had a blast. The exhibits are amazing.
Great museum. I had fun and got to learn a lot from the exhibits
Went for Sunday mid-day lunch approximately 2pm. We sat on the bar side and got work wonderful service and food. Drinks, chips/salsa and our bellies stayed full. Thanks
Local treasure of a museum! A great collection of world-wide oddities, treasures, antiques, and historical facts and items. Our son loves the dinosaur skeletons! The kids area on the third floor is a life saver for when parents need a break and kiddos need to run. Family friendly!
My 10 yo thought it was a little boring but there were things to interest her. Loved the play area on the third floor.
Omgoodness 2 cool.. soo many things to look at
Ive never seen a coin collection dating back so far...impressive
This is one of the better museum experiences I've had recently. There was much more to see and do than me and my family had imagined looking at the website, so we wound up spending a couple hours longer there than we had planned. Well worth the cost of admission! We'd gladly go back!
I liked all of their exhibits. It's a good size museum that you can walk through in a reasonable amount of time without getting bored. Interesting artifacts and information.
Beautiful place the exhibit's were nice to look at and we'll preserved the staff there was incredibly nice and we'll respecting to their customers
I went with my family and my 5 year old brother was so facinated but my parents were not. It’s very appealing to youngyuns but not elders unless you lived through a certain period they shower
Great small museum. A little bit of everything here.
We ended up spending over 3 hours at this museum, there was so much to see and do! We did the free highlight tour and had a knowledgeable and fun tour guide, it was well worth the 30 minutes! After that we decided to pay $5 each for the behind the scenes tour and that was worth the money and time as well. We had the opportunity to handle ancient relics and look around the back storage area and ask questions about items that the public doesn’t get to see. There is so much in this museum, you could easily spend an entire day. Highly recommend!!!
A great local experience from the family..! We went on customer appreciation day, so the tickets were discounted, otherwise it is a little pricey to get in. But even at full price, there is enough in the museum to fill up an entire afternoon and still not get through everything! So you definitely get your money's worth. And there is a little bit of everything, from dinosaurs to mummies, ancient Rome and Egyt to South America. The second floor was very interesting, as it was entirely dedicated to all of the wars our country has fought. And on the third floor there was a large area for the kiddos to play, with stuff to keep them busy for a chunk of time.
While we walked in we didn't think much of it, but this is a very nice hidden gem in Wichita! I really enjoyed the presidential display on the second floor! A lot of informative treasures that I recommend for all to see!
I was in a guided school tour. The guides were knowledge and friendly. There was much we didn't have time to see. If you love History add this to your list of places to visit.
I mean.. it's a nice thing to have, nice price, but eh
Fascinating place! My husband and I visited Wichita for only one day and this was such a fun stop! There is SO much to see, definitely worth the price. There is something for everyone here: medieval times, the world wars, Egyptian artifacts, dinosaurs, etc. If you love history or just seeing cool things, this is the place for you!
Very interesting items here.
This is one of the best museums I've ever been too. Well worth the visit.
Its alot of fun and really reasonable!! You get to see a ton of stuff for only about ten bucks!! Great for family and friends!Mummy's, world war stuff.. piece of the Berlin wall.. dinosaur bones, guns ect!! Alot of neat stuff!
Lots of cool displays! Fun for most ages.
What an incredible treasure. World class natural and anthropological history. Great selection of Dinosaurs and terror fish from prehistoric Kansas and around the world. Mummies! Need I say more?
Interesting stuff just the carnival was not as great as i thought it would be- could have been better!
Amazing! place to visit. Well planned and well executed. It's a fun place to take your kids. Great place for family trip.
Truly a city treasurer. If you're from Wichita or you're just passing through or visiting and never been to the museum of world treasures. I suggest you go, it is so incredible I can't even start to describe all the wonderful things to see there. From dinosaur bones to Egyptian treasures you really got to go see this place. I had the pleasure of going there with my mom and dad, sister and niece several years ago before it was relocated to the old town district and it was awesome then so I'm sure it's even more awesome now and I am and I'm looking forward to going to Back.
Cool place. Friendly staff! Must go for sure!
Wonderful place full of real good history! Great place for kids and adults alike. Don't miss out!
So much to see on a variety of subjects! I really enjoyed the civil war exhibit, as well as the stuff about geology. Found out you can do an overnight lock-in at the museum, too! They have a newly renovated kid's space on the 3rd floor with lots to do.
This is like a wonderful surprise. Didn't know Wichita had such a nice museum. Just another reason there is more to this city than most people know.
Some really neat exhibits. I think something for everyone
Bizarre but fun place with something for everyone: dinosaurs, war memorabilia, Egyptian and Greek history... and let's not forget the shrunken heads!
This is a great museum. My favorites were the military history, Roman history, and Ancient Egypt exhibits. The dinosaur and mineral exhibits are fun as well. As my daughter said, "We are sure getting our history fix today"!
A wide variety of exhibits and a great kid zone on the third floor to help keep the little ones entertained....but the dinosaurs definitely stole the show during our visit!
A wonderful gem of a place! Mummies, dinosaur fossils, semi-precious stones, fossils, and more. Well worth a visit.
Numerous interesting exhibits that the entire clan, ages 11-75 engaged. Berlin Wall, military uniforms, and Dark Ages all sparked conversations that lasted all weekend.
Interactive family fun.
I had a blast They have a scavenger hunt on paper to teach you about history. A must see spot if you have children.
Absolutely loved all the exhibits!
This surprising museum has a little bit of everything. The exhibits include Ivan, one of the most complete and largest T. Rex, other dinosaurs, fabulous sea creatures of the plains, Egyptian artifacts including mummies, and Buddhist and Hindu statues. There is also an interesting presidential section with a replica of the desk made famous by JFK kids. The WWI and WWII displays are very interesting. There are plenty of interactive displays for the kids of all ages. Volunteer Caleb was wonderful in explaining the dinosaur and other exhibits.
Amazing eclectic collections. I loved the variety of articles they had on display which included hometown heroes such as a WW II and Korean War fighter pilot to General George Custer's underware along with mummies and dinosaur bones. Great place to explore with kids. Their scavenger hunt for different ages is a great way to keep kids engaged.
Lots of neat things. 3 floors of historical artifacts, fossils, dinosaurs, medieval armour, gemstones, war memorabilia... We were hoping for more things geared toward toddlers. We had a 2yr old with us and had to skip over quite a bit of things. It is family friendly but I don't recommend it to anyone with small children. All things considered it is a very cool place to visit.
Awesome
Wonderful museum! Friendly and nice staff! Wide variety of exhibits from dinosaurs to World War 2 history. Our family did the tour of the back, which allowed us to see the behind the scenes of the Museum! Very cool and awesome tour guide! We were allowed to hold different artifacts not on display, and learn more about specific pieces.
Nice place and a great price to take kids.
If you are a lover of history then this is a great place. A lot of knowledge on the available exhibits. Definitely need more than 2 hours if you read everything.
They seem to regularly have a ton of cool events here! I just finished up the Harry Potter night at the museum and it was so much fun! Not only that, but a ton of the pieces in the museum seem to have such interesting stories. I'll be back for the Yule Ball :D
Didn't even know the museum was here. Very nice place to spend the day
Awesome Treasure finds!!
Good clean facility. Great info. A lot of things I didn't know about wwII....
We had a blast visiting this museum a couple weeks ago! While on our (roundabout) way to Kansas City to visit family, we stayed a free nights on Wichita and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. There were so many learning opportunities for our 7 year old daughter from dinosaurs to American history and everything in between. We will definitely be back!
This place is amazing... Absolutely enjoyed ourselves
What a great place. Very interesting and you'll walk away knowing you learned something.
Very nice and interesting.
Cute little museum. Clean and organized. Some areas felt packed full of assets while others felt sparse. There were multiple paths you can take through the museum... Which I'm museum opinion made it feel disorganised. But overall I would recommend it.
The museum of world treasures was such an amazing experience!! Protip: if you do the scavenger hunts you get a prize
First visit. What a nice, smaller museum with a very friendly staff.
A nice "go at your own pace" museum. Well thought out and informative displays.
I found this museum very boring and on the small side I have friends who love it so I guess you will have to make up your own mind but I say I would find something else to do for the money the zoo is nice
Love the place. Lots to see worth the trip
Wonderful time. So much to learn and see!
Small but varied, good for kids, nice for something to do on an afternoon or with out of town visitors
Enjoyed the displays.. Very nice tour.
A really interesting place. There’s history from dinosaurs to early medieval times to the Cold War. If you’re by yourself with a 3 yo then maybe don’t plan on reading very much. There is however several things that the kids can touch and play with including a play area on the third floor.
Decent museum it's surreal being able to see ancient cuneiform text up close, plus the Buddha statues were unreal. I have personal mixed emotions about certain ceremonial burial objects and mummies but all in all great place. A lot to take in but worth it
A very cool hidden museum. There are some ancient world treasures one would not expect to find in Wichita.
So much to see, nicely displayed with easy to read descriptions of what you're looking at. Definitely need at least 3 hours to see all 3 levels. I would say this place Is for older children or children who're interested in well, world treasures. My 11 yo boy loved it, where as my 8 yo daughter wasn't as interested. I loved it. All the Egyptian artifacts. Definitely interesting!
Really enjoyed the museum. Had a large variety of things. Something for everyone.
Awesome staff and amazing artifacts. I also live the area it's in right next to a brewery baby! Owww
This museum was an excellent surprise. Take the highlights tour, and then enjoy looking around. They have everything from presidents, dinosaurs, mummy's and a play area for kids. This was an excellent museum where we learned a lot. The building itself was really neat as well. Great stop!
Loved all the treasures found in this quaint building.
Enjoyed going through it. It walked you through historical facts to dinosaur bones. You got the opportunity to see and experience some of the World's treasures. Great place to visit.
The Kids loved it
We went to visit the museum on our way out of town. It's small and only takes 2-3 hours to get through everything. Most of the displays are very close to the walkway, so there are A LOT of "Pease do not touch..." signs. The first floor is all fossils, many dug up in Kansas, and ancient history displays. The second floor is all war displays, from the Civil War to Vietnam. I found this floor very disheartening, as there is so much war in our history and there are some descriptive signs of atrocities. But there is also a display of presidential correspondence, which has photocopies of their actual handwriting and/or signature, with several quotations from each president that was very enlightening. The third floor has a small Old West display, the highlight of which is a display you CAN touch, a saddle with a sign encouraging you to help your kids onto it. There is also a playroom for the kids with a stage and playhouse. Some of the second and third floors were under construction. The gift shop area at the entrance has some local merchandise, but is mainly commercial products, toys and things that kids would like, related to the displays.
Have not been here, was describing Farmers market which is held in front of museum on Saturdays.
Absolutely love this place. So cool that Wichita has such a nice Museum. It has a little for everyone. The also host lots of events to promote various things. Lots of interactive exhibits and even a cool kods area for the kids to play at. If you have never been here its worth checking out. We easily spend 3-4 hours here.
Awesome place super cool artifacts loved the second floor but honestly it was hard to pic a favorite seems to be a hidden treasure in Kansas this place is great
Amazing stuff. Love that it's right in Oldtown.
Wonderfulplace! We were there for a wedding. It was great.
This is a great historical treasure! I enjoyed taking time to read each exhibit and viewing all of the artifacts. From war memorabilia to mummified remains. From Custer’s underwear to the Berlin Wall. There was a bit of everything.
I was pleasantly surprised with how much was in the museum. You definitely get your money’s worth! They had many exhibits of things I had never seen before so it was a special treat. Even the gift shop was cool with unexpected little treasures.
Great place for a rainy afternoon.
Awesome tour guide who loved his job, interesting displays, and overall a fun place to visit!
Very nice museum.
Fun for all ages and good to go at least once for the experience. They don't seem to change the exhibits much and it's a little over priced for what you get.
Great job with all the fun facts--very interesting bits of information throughout the exhibits!
Excellent experience. This location has some great exhibits. The staff here is friendly, knowledgeable and interesting. There are exhibits from the dinosaurs up to recent times. The day I was here there was staff dressed in period costumes explaining and demonstrating many of the things on display. This is definitely a must visit with return trips if you have the opportunity.
I like it. The kids went through quickly. Some things caught their attention but only for a second. They enjoyed it but not enough for their limited attention.
Two words!! Simply awesome!! Full of facts and interesting stuff. Everything from the world wars 1 and 2, Vietnam, and Korean wars to mummy's from Egypt. Lots of stuff from presidents and wild west. Even dinosaurs! 3rd floor has a play area for younger kids. We really liked it!
This Is My 7yr Old Sons Fave Museum
Smaller museum but alot of interesting items.
Great place for kids to learn history and for adults as well. Been there 3 times and worth seeing each time even though displays don't change, I see something new each time.
Amazing museum with informative and interesting exhibits ranging from dinosaur fosils and skeletons to real ancient Egyptian mummies! Great fun for kids and adults. If you like museums and are in the area this one is a must visit.
