Historical site about an unfortunate part of past. Interesting science about the grove of trees and the Neosho River located in and around Council Grove.

Early pioneer extra large reconstructed log cabin created in the Mormon community in Council Bluffs in 1847. Nice visitor center with a short video and several displays on the history.

Not what I expected. As a retired teacher, I was expecting to hear about the kids that were there, the teacher, teaching methods, and perhaps see a recreation of a room the boys stayed in. It's nothing like that. It is worth seeing, but it is a history of the town with hands on Indian artifacts. There are lots of pictures and some period furniture.

This is a great historical site along the Santa Fe Trail.

It's a little place that is rich with American history. It's not exciting, and I wouldn't recommend bringing children to visit as there is not much for them to do but run around on the lawn. It's great if you are interested in Native American history and how the natives were actually treated. Overall I felt a sense of sadness when visiting this place and reading the signs around the yard.
