This Museum corresponds to the category of Museum.
Went here on a field trip with my daughter. Wish we had more time to look around. The parts we did see were very nice though and the people there made the children want to learn things
A very well done museum of some of the history of Kansas. A smaller museum but impressive nonetheless. I have enjoyed every visit.
What a fantastic place!!!
I especially like the recent past
Worth the 10 dollars to get in. Lot to see so expect to stay at least 2 hours
For the school house that girl was STRICT!!
Wonderful place, great to see a well organized exhibition. Brings all those memories.
There a variety of things to do for all ages. There are hiking trails, hands on exhibits for children, video & audio presentations in addition to the exhibits.
lots of very interesting history is stored in this building, prices are realitivaly cheap. great place to take your kids for an hour or two
Great place to visit and learn some history of Kansas..Kids enjoyed...
I went to meet up with friends today. I hadn't been for quite a while! I was running late, so I didn't get to see everything today. I'll be back another day, for sure!!
Awesome. I wish there were more historical things in the gift shop instead of toys. Really informative
Currently a fascinating exhibit on the life of a WWI and WWII soldier. Many exhibits covering all of Kansas history.
The new exhibit on Kansas counties was fun and highly informative!
A good museum at a reasonable rate. I would highly suggest taking walks on the walking trails there as well. Taking the walks in the spring time when everything is in bloom and really nice.
I took my preschool class. They loved it.
Had a great time, learned a lot about Kansas
A very well put together museum. Lots of information you can absorb and great dioramas/displays. We ran out of time on our visit, but we enjoy reading everything so that can take awhile. If you plan on visiting give yourself atleast 2 hours, and if you're like us plan on 3.5hrs.
Amazing history museum!
This a beautiful and very interesting museum. So much Kansas historic information as well as hands on exhibits for children as well as adults. For example, I have never had the opportunity to pet a buffalo or see the inside of a teepee.
It was great. I recommend that you go there.
Everyone is very helpful.
Had a wonderful time here with my son and his class. Great exhibits and tons of history to learn.
An wonderful museum that houses an impressive number of artifacts and documents, which create a narrative that is captivating.
Great museum learned a lot about Kansas
Nice exhibition
Awesome museum. Fun for any ages
Wonderful experience for Kansas coming home to visit us.
Small but nicely curated museum. The historic steam locomotive is definitely worth seeing.
The play area for kids is fabulous and the museum is small enough that its not to much for kids. All the displays are beautifully done and very interesting! My children and I always have a grand time here and a plus is that the staff are very friendly!!!
Great amount of Kansas history with everything from American Indian displays to more modern things like the Steam locomotive.
Been out there a couple of times. It's a really nice place. But I'll never be back since they make a person to pay just to get get in they're door. Plain Ridiculous! I was born and raised right here in Topeka Kansa 60 some years ago.
Great Museum, well planned out!
Great experience, knowledgeable and friendly tour guide!!
It is always nice to walk around. I always find something new.
2nd time coming with the school different experience this time
Great museum with interactive displays and friendly staff!
Well put together and I love all the historical items. Whatever age of children new brain they should enjoy this
Will take all day.
The exhibition today was just beyond words. We are celebrating Kansas day!
Outstanding, afterhours, presentation!
they were having west fest. they had real horses and wagon rides. face painting and balloons art. they had a special county exhibit. my little girl liked the train the most. they had home made ice cream to!
Nice gazebo and trail. MUSEUM is awesome inside but looks hidden from outside and can you a fresh coat of paint
Excellent state museum! From the begining of our beloved state when different tribes of indians roamed the land right on thru the transformation into the modern period in this epic story of Kansas. The presentation was very well done. Walking thru can be daunting at times because you want to follow the timeline but yet not miss anything along the way. There are several places to sit down and catch your breathe, as well as reflect on what you seen so far! This museum deserves multiple visits throughout the year. The exhibits do change, and they are fascinating. Trying to take in the whole museum in one visit is just a fool's folly...there's too much to learn and see to be able to do it it in one visit!
Always an interesting visit, Kansas is lucky to have it.
Had a blast. Lots of space and interesting exhibits. A huge outside area with playground and nature trail.
Pretty cool
Fun experience for my son, and brought back some memories for me from when I was a kid.
Disappointing they're small minded & short sighted they have paranormal activity occurring & won't allow investigation
Well kept facility with fresh exhibits
Great educational place to take the kids. With a play area.
Great place to learn about Kansas history. Have been here with school field trips as well as a family outing. The kids enjoy it and do not get too bored too fast. There is a play area in the lobby where kids can dress up and learn more hands on
It never gets old.
A smorgasbord of historical delights.
Lots of interesting stuff.
Awesome food and soooooo affordable no place offers the kind of service you get here for the price you get it for!
Great place to catch pokemon
There are a lot of pieces from the 50s and a full scale train which is very interesting. There's a great number of American Indian artifacts. When I was there, there were a lot of small children. I see it far more entertaining for adults though.
Interesting museum of state history. We went while we were waiting on movie close by and this was a great way to kill time. I learned things about Kansas I didn't know and found it very interesting. I got upset (jk) when I saw these things that I grew up with as a kid in a museum
Very nice museum. The restored 1880 steam locomotive and two passenger cars on display are what got me in the door but ended up staying much longer than expected because the rest was all very interesting and well done.
Wonderful museum experience! The World War I special exhibit was remarkable. My husband has all the letters his grandfather wrote to his parents while serving in World War I . 1917-1919 We will definitely go back! Expect to spend at least 3 hours.
Great for kids
I could spend hours here. One of the best museums I have been to.
I've always grown up going to this museum and remember using the telephone lines and playing with them and always find something new every time I come here but the cost of admission pushes people away from this great place in Kansas history. Better Signage would draw more people in for sure if you were just driving by you'd never know where it was.
AMAZING!!! A MUST SEE!!
A great place to spend an afternoon.
Nice building was there for a continuing education class
Really nice and they have alot of life size things and a small play center for children to also learn and touch things active military do not go in free though it is just 1 or 2 dollars discounted. Other than that it's really good
Exceptional curating job here and staff can help you access the archives next door. On Baptist Manual Labor Training School next door not accessible.
What a great place to go in Topeka. It's a fantastic place to take the kids for a fun and educational outing.
A must see. Take the time to read the information. So much to learn. Excellent outdoor trails.
Loved the 105 counties and 105 stories. Just wished we'd come earlier in the day. Didn't have time for the rest of the museum, but come on good reports that it's an awesome collection. The gift shop was worth a look about as well. We will return another day!!
Great place to explore with the family
Fun and interesting. Went here for family day and we weren't disappointed!
Great learning experience. Plan at least 2-4 hours to visit the exhibits.
It is amazing has a new exhibit 105 counties and 105 stories awesome it's a must see
Love the museum and especially love the hiking trails. Easy trails with lots of bridges, beautiful grounds.
They've done a nice job the displays were well organized bathrooms are clean staff friendly
I wish there was more to it! Very pricy for a smaller museum.
A great museum to learn history of Kansas.
West Fest was awesome. So many great activities and vendors in addition to the exhibits!
The Kansas City Museum opened in the 1980s and it looks and feels like it. Most of the exhibits are looking a little dated and the history timeline abruptly ends in the mid-1980s. However, there are many interesting exhibits including a newish one that profiles each of the state's 105 counties with a unique story - some fascinating stuff. There are a number of significant artifacts including rail cars and an old steam engine. You get a good sense of the region's history including the turbulent times leading up to and including the Civil War. Plan on spending about 90 minutes or so here.
A favorite place to sit in peace. Although I appreciate the natural paths, it would be nice to have more paved walkways around the area.
I just love it there
Great museum for all ages. Play area for kids.
Lots to see. Our guide was very informative. Great class field trip.
Wonderful displays and visual synopsis of Kansas history.
Visited the museum today with my 4th grader’s class and enjoyed it. Would like to revisit it when I don’t have 10 year olds to herd around. BEST part BY FAR was the Stach Schoolhouse. I absolutely loved observing the kids receive 90 minutes of 19th century curriculum. The teacher (wish I would have caught her name) did a wonderful job of transporting us all back to another era. It will certainly be memorable for kids and parents
I was a little disappointed in the actual history contained in the museum. There is wonderful, rich Kansas history surrounding the Civil Rights Movement that wasn't included at all. Everything after 1900 was strangely glazed over.
The paths through the prairie around the museum are nice, but who would pay this much for a museum of KANSAS history?
Staff were wonderful and the museum has a lot of different items to attract a wide variety the kids had a lot of fun
A must visit if you're in Topeka. Extensive collection of artifacts and displays from many different eras of Kansas history. If you like museums you'll like this place!
One of the best museums in the country. Great exhibits, beautiful facilities, and many family friendly events. It's something our community can take a lot of pride in! Go check it out.
Great on WWI and older history; more recent history displays not Kansas specific
What a place to learn about the history of Kansas
Interesting
Very interesting displays at a very reasonable price. I enjoyed the gift shop and veteran memorial exhibit.
I liked the models and wax figures used to tell the stories of history. Spacious and clean.
Walked the nature trail, very beautiful.
Very informative, interactive and fun!
Wonderful Museum with lots of history you need a good 2-3 hours to really enjoy all there is to see
Really enjoyed this museum. Although, I am from western Kansas and apparently there is zero Kansas history from that side of the state according to the information at the museum. Was disappointed in the lack of state wide history.
A nice experience but I recommend getting a guide if you go here.
Amazing place. Totally worth the time. Will be back again soon!
A great place to take the family and learn about Kansas History!
great exhibits
amazing
Awesome comprehensive history of the state of Kansas. Pretty inexpensive admission, and great for families and anyone who wants to learn about the state. A must if you are just moving to Kansas
Great hiking trails around the ground and good exhibits inside.
My daughter was married here tonight and it was beautiful and the staff was so helpful and kind. They were all fantastic and accommodating. It is a beautiful place for pictures and events.
The view off wea creek bridge is fantastic.
Spent some time on the nature trails here. Beautiful place.
Great way to learn about Kansas history.
Beautiful exhibits.
There is a lot of information on the history of Kansas I really enjoyed it. They are working on the parking lot but it was still easy to get around.
Great place. Just walking around the ground was fabulous.
Grand kids loved the museum, was able to roam on there own and learn
Great museum at a decent price. Plus they marked all of the exhibits that are on mysteries at the museum.
Awesome!. The museum is very well-presented and organized. I loved the Steam Locomotive, covered wagon, and many displays of household items/clothing!
Great place for young and old to learn about Kansas.
Lots of interesting history on Kansas' birthday. Plus there was live bluegrass today.
Good Displays.
Have to pay for the kids area now. Kinda disappointed
Lots of interesting things to see for all ages
Calming ,has been on tv several times on Mysteries in the Museum.
Great experience and interaction with the staff was great!
Truly impressive, with exhibits that will appeal to all ages and interests.
Fascinating place to visit. Very easy to lose yourself among the displays for at least two or three hours. Plus they have a special exhibition that changes every few months (which gives an extra incentive for returning at least once a year!).
Great place to visit! Wonderful kids area.
This museum is amazing. It's a great place to learn more about the history of Kansas and the American culture.
This is an excellent museum. I did not have time to view it fully, therefore I did not give it 5 stars, but it is very good.
A nice place. The kids love the play areas but it would be nice if they changed the exhibts a little.
Great place for a family of history buffs....
Get source for Kansas history and research.
A good learning experience of the past.
Great time.
Great experience! I'm not a fan of reading history, but seeing it takes me to my child days! This place had so much to see and was surprisingly a really nice museum. My only regret is that I didn't have more time to just lounge around the museum to see and read everything. This museum had tons of stuff from an actual train to canons to tepees and if you can imagine it, it is probably there. It is a great to take the family and learn about the history of Kansas! Highly recommend this to everyone!
There's allot to learn from the past in this place
Very nice facility with changing exhibts.
Very organized. Lots to see.
Ever since they changed the layout the place has less displays and a ton of walls. It used to be great and free but now it's not that great.
This place is too cool if you like history.
Very nice Museum
Awesome
Best educational entertainment in awhile
History of old kansas portrayed at their best
So many thing to learn and such a cool way to experience learning them...
Great trails and landmarks. Worth a visit solo or with the family!
What a great place to take the kids . So hands on
Pokemon history huntn
Amazing place with so many wonderful resources and knowledgeable people.
Lot of artifacts and neatly maintained place. Opens a lot of doors into Kansas history during World war 1 and 2. Information about native Americans n Wichita Indians exhibited pretty well. Plenty of war souvenirs and items on display. A must visit in Topeka which puts the limelight on less known facts about Kansas.
Great museum. Need brighter lights in the railroad cars
This rating and review are for the trails around the museum. My family and I have been enjoying them for year. They are well maintained. I love the bridges.
Nice museum.
Excellent museum, good place to visit when crossing to Colorado.
It took me three years to Finally get my family to this museum and it is wonderful! Really neat facts about the history of Kansas. Plus there is a Train inside the building! They had to build the building around it my kids loved that part and the playroom they have they where in there for a few hours!
Interesting but its about a dollar per square foot of museum for entry. Fortunately thats only 10$. I wouldnt plan a day there but there are some interesting artifacts.
