Gives you a good idea of what the Kansas city outlying areas were like before they were turned into sprawling ruins.

Visited on vacation to Kansas City, the gentleman on site gave us a private tour. My favorite was the kitchen, they offer hands on classes for the children using the time period kitchen and tools. A must see for any one loving history.

Went there for Applefest. It was great

We used to walk to Applefest at the Grinter house every fall. They would open up the house for tours, and have pony rides, and things for sale out in the grounds... The house is definitely worth seeing it is just gorgeous and very cool because you can see how they lived when Kansas was just a territory, before bridges were built and they still had to use ferries to cross the Kansas River, because originally, that's what the Grinter's did.

Dec. 1, '18: Christmas "Open House". Mary C. was the wonderful knowledgeable tour guide. Moses and Annies original family sold the 1857 hilltop farm house and furnishings in the 1950's. Current furniture and items were donated, trying to accept pre 1905 items.

A little history about this place. House was built in the 1800s and it amazing to see what they used and how very modern yet vintage it is. It was a nice little tour and if you want to check it out, do so. I had fun exploring and seeing this place. My favorite room is definitely the kitchen. Lots of cool stuff.

Great example of antebellum house and living cinditions. Overlook the KS river and imagine the ferry. Just don’t go on no Missouri boat ride.

Small and intimate museum rich in history and knowledge. Not expensive to visit. You are allowed to touch objects well over one hundred years old. It's a great place to stop and learn some Kansas and Kansas City history.

Interesting bit of local history

My father died about 4 weeks ago and was cremated. We had his memorial at this facility. The building we had the gathering in was functional and very clean. Located on the grounds was an antebellum home which could be toured. I wasn't able to attend the tour due to my disability but I was told by family members that it was quite beautiful. All in all it was a pleasant day despite the death of a loved one.

The reason for this Review and the 2 star rating is as follows. Sat our friends got married there. Well they was not told that the Grinter house would still be open during the Wedding Ceremony. In other words, if the public came for a tour they would still give them. Now to me this was extremely unprofessional. When someone pays good money to rent a place out for a special event such as a wedding, you do not allow tours and workers to come and go as they please..... That I am sorry is just not professional either.............. The owner of this place, needs to rethink this, I know personally I will never rent this place out again. Nor will it be recommended to friends.... The staff was very Nice people though, that was not the problem there...
