This is a well-planned, educational, and fun museum. Although the actual space is small, it feels enormous. Jam-packed with a fantastic tiny town that has a grocery, kitchen, dentist, school, a farm with live snakes and bunnies, a computer lab, fun musical instruments, and so much more! I was so pleased with this museum and the price at $6 per person. (I found a Groupon for $9 for 2 people. This place was really an unexpected gem.
I found cheaper tickets on Groupon (4 tickets for $16) We were visiting from out of town and made a quick trip. This is great for smaller children, probably under 7. I'm sure they could update some exhibits but overall this is a great trip for my youngest.
Interesting interactive displays that are kid friendly and family oriented. The creative staff is always coming up with attention keeping yet educational displays and programs to keep the Childrens Museum fresh and interesting so you never get tired of going back. We are blessed to have such a fine family Centered venue in Muncie that more than compares with any of the Childrens Museums in any of the surrounding larger cities thanks to the creativity, commitment and caring of the management, staff and volunteers. Make it a point to visit this Muncie Treasure soon.
This is a good place for younger kids.
I really liked just wish it was a little more organized
Very fun for kids
Outstanding in great for the kids
Our family really loves the Children's Museum. Its interactive, educational, numerous pets , places to climb and explore, pretend play, and the upstairs has a tablet area. The parking lot is tiny so if you plan on coming on the weekend you may have to walk a ways.
Was our first visit, was a very great experience, we all look forward to going back
A great place to visit for anyone with young kids. Affordable with free days at least once a month. My daughter has a blast going every time.
Pretty good for a kids museum and the kids seem to like it to.
Great place for kids to learn and play. The third saturday of each month is free admission.
Muncie Children's museum is small but packed full of fun. We went at a time barely anyone else was there so we had the run of the place. We were a little disappointed that the upstairs computer displays were not working. 4 of the 6 were out of order. Also there was no chalk at the giant chalkboard. The cash register in the super market was broken or needed batteries. I understand that museums are expensive to maintain. But chalk and batteries are pretty cheap. Even with those things, our three kids found plenty to keep themselves entertained for a couple of hours. The staff was friendly and helpful. We even had a personal visit from the tortoise.
Nice museum. Not so big that everyone is wiped out when leaving, or disappointed from not getting to see everything. Reasonably priced.
My grandchildren love this place.
Fun place
We were there for a birthday party. Good price for parties. The kids always have fun at the museum.
It's a great place to take a young toddler and kids up to about 12. They have one Saturday per month free, which you can check their website for information on. You MUST park around back or in the parking garage. The only entrance is on Liberty Avenue. You cannot park by the front entrance. It is for private apartments and you WILL get towed. Inside it's not very big but they have a giant train set, an ant wall to climb, slides and toys for "5 and under" section, an outdoor play area, local historical items and information, and an upstairs play area. You can rent some of the party rooms for birthdays and such.
Great price for the extensive offerings. We are from DC and our son greatly enjoyed this museum. Lots of activities. Would plan for a whole morning/ afternoon, so your kiddo cam thoroughly explore. Great small town museum for kids!
I am only giving the second star because the tree house slide and the live animals. Everthing is old and broken, my son could barely play with things in the play kitchen and Marsh store. The water table wasn't working, and 1 of the like 9 tablets upstairs were working and you couldn't hear it at all. I had higher hopes, even for only $6 it wasnt worth it. They really need to update/invest in their exhibits.
Great museum for the two boys, 19 mo and 3 1/2. Nice, accessible collection with a small crowd on a rainy Saturday
We were visiting from NC. Had a lovely time.
So much fun!!
We had a great time at the Muncie Children's Museum today. We took the children through Elf Training! They where successful and earned elf names. This is a great place to take the family for a day of fun. We will be sure to come back again.
The boys loved it
Very nice fun place for children to just unwind highly recommend visiting with your kids
Great small interactive museum for kids
My 2 year old had a blast ! & I had a blast watching her play .
Nice little museum. Very hands on for the kiddos. Very reasonably priced.
Great place for kids! Plan to spend some time here when you go.
I feel like it's really nice and refreshing here. Really nice to bring little ones!
Great place
Kids had a blast! I agree with most everybody though, it has a ton of potential but is outdated and needs some love
Great ace for younger kids - less than 8. No lines at all!
The free Saturdays are an incredible gift for children of all ages to enjoy, as well as the adults!
I grew up going to the museum so when I had kids I knew I wanted to take them there.
This place is outdated, dirty, has broken equipment and lacks the education you’d hope to get. They have wires/tubes accessible to small children. I wouldn’t waste your time
Fun Place and affordable for little kids.
Great fun for children and parents too!
Went on one of the free saturdays they had with my 2yr old daughter, it was neat and i would definitely go again. But i did have an issue with some older kids that came running through the smaller kid area and made it a little dangerous with their careless behaviour. It may be best to take a little one out on non free days to avoid the crowds.
Free weekend on the third Saturday off the month. Awesome! And their was some visitors from the Newport Aquarium; two humans and a penguin! With a special craft of painting a penguin figurine to fit the theme, it was a fun filled day with their regular attractions: tower and swirly slide, rabbits, turtles, Guinea pigs, snake, train set, play farm, ant tunnel, pixel pregs, ball wall, role play scenes (school, kitchen, grocery) outdoor center, etc.
So much to do between the trains, the water table, the supermarket, the kitchen, the classroom and more because i can't remember it all. I do remember my grandchildren 6 and 3 having the best time. The 3 year old that loves in the area didn't want to leave. So i got him a membership so that he could come anytime he wanted. The membership is well worth the money, pays for itself in a couple of visits and gives you access to other museums as well. I suggest getting it if you live in the area and the kids enjoy it.
It was nice to take my child to. The price was definitely appropriate. Some areas are dated or simply don't function anymore and a few are a bit dirty, but not more than you would expect from toys being touched by kids every day. The place is nice for a quick trip, but don't expect to spend more than an hour or two. Though i'm rating three stars objectively, I had a five star day with my two year old daughter.
Drove from Fort Wayne and it was great. Worth the drive
They always have such fun things for the kids to do! We recently went to the elf training and our kids loved it! It was $4 per person which I feel parents shouldn't of had to pay, but the kids loved it so it made it worth it! We will definitely be back again next year to renew the elf certificates! Everything was very kid friendly, lower things so the kids could see everything. There was even a Santa view from the sleigh that they had a step ladder for the kids to step up to be able to look out. The atmosphere was very laid back, at your own pace, and enjoyable! I think the kids favorite part was the elf snow globe snowball fight! Lol! They had a blast!!!
Very cute little childrens museum, good for the price!
Cheap friendly place to take the kids, parking close and free
Took grandchildren they enjoyed going . the live animal displays were fun
Small but great for kids and day away!
Clean place and full of safe toys for children’s different ages. Also, the membership fee is fair for what they offer.
Not there rode by
Fun
There were so many broken things- lights, water table, structures etc. The clocks in train station were not working, one was missing. Shingles missing from tower in play area. Lights out all over the place. It is all so simple and cheap to fix, so it's disappointing that no one cares to take care of it. It would be a great place otherwise.
What a great place to take the kids. Had my 2 daughters with their combined 6 kids. Not one complained of being bored. They all had a good time. Made sand creations at the end of our visit as their souvenir of the day.
I got in free as part of military appreciation. Very nice experience and great museum overall. Love how they integrated Muncie life into everything- farming, trucks, trains, water and more!
I went with my Granddaughter and her class. We had loads of fun.
Fun for a small town kids liked it
Fun, and clean!!
My daughter (age 2) loves this place. With the new exhibits, she'll keep having more to do as she gets older.
Kids love this place just always want to have 2 hours to spare cause they never want to leave
It's a great place for kids to learn and be one on one
Excellent experience. Would visit again if I am ever in the area.
Love all the new exhibits
Quite small and I think not well-funded since they were out of chalk for the very large chalkboard they had lol, but it was a lot of fun for my daughter and perfect for a toddler to feel engaged in. I really love the fact they have it set up like a little town where there's a post office, a Superstore, a train and other things for them to learn about.
Always have a good time here
Not educating just a big playhouse for parents to take their kids
Dirty, got locked out in back patio area, girl at front desk was not personable.
Ok place for kids. Basically a huge playhouse with slides, activities and such. Really I wouldn't consider it a museum per se in the traditional sense so if you're looking for a place like that-this isn't it.
Love Miss Laura at the front desk... what a great person to conversate with
Not alot to do. Been the same ole place for years. Went to 4 different parties within 5 yrs. Nothing new & small. Although the young lady walking around the parties with different animals was wonderful with the kids. Other staff not so much. Maybe they need to put the young lady in charge. She was very personable & friendly.
Wonderful place for kids to have fun and a lot of learning for the kids as well, and they can make Sand art
My kids love it here!
It was better then i thought it would be my little girl lived it
This museum has potential but needs a overhaul and a deep clean. Many times whenever we have visited there is broken toys or things that aren't working. It is also in need of a deep cleaning. Years of grime and build up that needs some major attention. The trains sometimes work other times they don’t. I personally don’t think it’s worth the money to go anymore. I really wish they would remodel and make it more interactive for kids.
Fun place to bring the little ones every once in awhile. A lot of the stuff seems pretty dated though, an update to more modern things would make this place a blast!
Okay place for children. Mostly exhibits of bugs and animals. I expected more history and learning atmosphere for the children. Also, wasnt clean...
This place is so fun! Even my one year old daughter has fun here! They have cheap party rooms too! Great place for a rainy day as well!
The things to do were good, but the place is looking run down. Also, there were surge protectors near water and within easy reach of little hands. I know parents should watch there kids, but it only takes a moment for accidents to happen.
It’s affordable! Its something to do but nothing is mind blowing cool! At check-in, it didnt feel very inviting. The facilites and exhibits appeared dirty or unmaintained (bathrooms, water table, scaled, trains, maze, semi, carpet) in comparison to other museums. Also, there was no educational interventions from the musuem’s employees like at other museums. Parking was easy. It wasn't over-crowded and the train dispay is really cool. Overall, the activities were limited per age group and it seemed more like an indoor playground than a place of discovery and education.
Awesome experience. Lots for the children to explore.
Kids had fun!
Wish it had more. It's a great little place ....the kids had fun running around here.
Great place. Very good price
Has some nice play areas. Also has pets interspersed throughout the museum in their respective cages.
Maybe I'm spoiled by the Indianapolis Children's Museum, but this museum can't even keep my kids' attention; let alone mine and my wife's attention.
Our daughter is almost 1 1/2 and she LOVED it! It is the perfect museum for little ones.
Great place for children
It was ok
Great fun for young kids.
Haven't been for a long time. It was great for the kids, they had a lot of fun.
My two and three year old was it it was a great family experience to do
Fun learning for kids, wonderful staff
We were not a fan of the museum. The toys and such were dirty and it was not worth our hour drive. We planned a whole day around it and left after being there for 45 minutes.
Price is low but they don't have much
Basically one giant room with tons of stuff for kids to do - one of the better and safer places for children in the town of Muncie.
Small enough that it can be enjoyed in a couple of hours. Many displays are tired and need cleaned and refreshed. I feel it was good for the admission price.
Great place to take your kids for half a day. Parking is behind back with plenty of spaces available. Be sure to check out their website for discount days and/or free days. Plus, there are options on their web page to print out a coloring page for your child and if presented at counter you will get a discount on the day's visit. :)
Great place for kids. One of our yearly visits to Indiana is here and our kids always love it.
Great all round fun for the kids half price Sunday's $15 for family of 5
My youngest child has sensory needs and this museum was perfect for him! Interactive exhibits and lots of hands on opportunities!
For the price it's decent... Only few dollars to get in there's just not alot of things to do and most of what is there is very outdated
I really wanted to like this place. This place is filthy, run down and a bit unsafe. Our three year old son had fun, but my husband and I were appalled the whole time we were there. First, at the front desk the employees were sitting there eating while we were paying the admission fee ($6 per person, and they accept cards), which seemed super unprofessional. Next, we took a quick trip to the bathroom. The bathrooms weren’t overly clean. The baby changing station folds down over the sinks in both the men’s and women’s bathrooms and that was super awkward. We couldn’t find a family bathroom there. As we started exploring the museum I couldn’t figure out why it’s called a museum. It’s literally an indoor playground, and a terrible one at that. We headed over to the toddler area and there was no play food in the farmer’s market. Some of the puzzles were broken. There was trash left from someone’s snacks there, too. I noticed a bunch of extension cords out in the open just off the toddler area, close to the turtles. That’s so unsafe! The animals were nice to see, but their cages were dirty. Upstairs was a waste; there was no chalk for the big chalkboard and the tablets weren’t working. The light bright board was fun. My son loves trains, but we couldn’t get the train display to move. It was apparently broken. The Marsh and the play kitchen were just as gross and dirty as the rest of the place. There was a thick layer of dust on top of things in the Marsh. A lot of the parents were just sitting around looking at their phones, not their kids. Like I said, I really wanted to like this place, but it was so yucky we all came home and took a shower. Not fun! This was our first and last time visiting the Muncie Children’s Museum.
Great place for kids!
First time here, and we all had a blast! Definitely would recommend this museum! Staff was very nice & helpful!
Our toddler loved it. Lots of different activities and things to learn.
Neat place if they have something going on.
It's pretty cool but would be better with a little maintenance. The water table only 1/2 works and is falling apart. The model trains don't work well either. On the positive side; very inexpensive. Only $18 for 2 adults and 2 kids with a coupon.
I have always loved to take the grandkids here in the past. Today's visit however was very disappointing. I feel that they have let things go, and are not taking care of their exhibits. The clothing covers for the water table...you can't find any which the velcro works. The fishing boat only had two rods and each of those had so many knots tied in them they were too short to catch a fish. They have several model trains that run, but only ONE actually ran when the buttons were pushed. The computers, very few, if any actually worked. The best area was for 5 and under (but we definitely let the 7 year old play there too)! The Marsh grocery store had very little food (although we found a LOT of it in the kitchen). I understand children can be hard on the exhibits, but maintenance needs to be done. They are building a new exhibit, which I'm sure will be nice, but they should take care of what they already have first!
My Kids and Godkids really enjoyed themselves
It's okay. Small compared to what I'm use to coming from the Baltimore area. Went with my grandson on his Field trip. It was good for a half day but I couldn't see spending an entire day there, at least not while responsible for a group of kids. Would be better to enjoy as a family and when it is warmer out to enjoy the outdoor area. The kids enjoyed it, tho.
Wonderful visit for a few hours. Came with grandkids, ages 6-10. Lots of hands on exhibits. Staff was friendly and attentive. A safe venue to let kids play and not have to watch them like a hawk. Worth the drive from Fort Wayne!
Awesome place for a birthday party
Very fun had a great time
Went as preschool field trip. Surprised wouldn't let one mom use annual pass. But overall was great. Staff interactive. We made sand art for $2 and well worth it. Was alot of fun...
It's ok, especially for the relatively low entry fee. But the museum is desperately in need of organization/clean-up, repairs, maintenance, and some child safety-proofing (to prevent access to exposed electrical cords near the turtle exhibit). The PBS Kids lab features an array of broken and non-functioning screens in an otherwise empty space. All over the museum, exhibits are missing pieces, needing repairs, cleaning and maintenance, and are generally under-developed. Despite these drawbacks, kids can at least entertain themselves here. I wish that the three front desk employees who were present during our visit (during in the office) could have been put to use either interacting with visitors and teaching, or maybe doing work around the museum. I hope a few foundations can help bring this museum up to date and current standards.
Great place to let the kids unwind.
So fun. For kids! Clean and very reasonably priced!
The children's museum was recently updated and has several nice new areas. It is always clean and the price is reasonable for a whole day of fun. It can be very crowded on the free days, but I'm glad that they offer this option.
We had a great time. My son really enjoyed the museum, they had a lot of activities for all ages.
My 4 year old loved it. Cheap admission price and easy to keep young children entertained for about 4 hours.
I would not recommend this to anyone! It was terrible, they call it a museum but it’s really just a toddler playground! Even at that it was a terrible playground. It was very disgusting with broken toys and the best thing there was a blue slide. McDonalds has a better play area than this. They need to change the name to toddler daycare center. It was about the size of a two car garage. I wish that they would advertise this “museum” as a playground! I am very unhappy!
Awesome place for kids! Only $6
Great place for good family fun!
A fun place for all ages
Very good for young children
Granddaughter and her classmates loved it.
Most interactive displays did not work or were damaged. Staff was nice though.
The museum is a great learning adventure for the kids. There's so many things to do! They also host special events, while we were there, we got to pet a real live penguin from the Newport Aquarium.
Ur systems are probably hacked...my 2 cards were unsuccessfully used at ur place at 22nd March around 18:00hrs for 5$...i don't even live in US
A delightful experience with my granddaughter loving everything about it
Always fun, even my older kids love it.
Good place to take the kids in lazy weekends. Plenty of exploration and setup for pretend.
A complete RIP off wouldn't reccomend anyone to go there overpriced for one Room full of junk
Took our 2 year old granddaughter, perfect for her age, and doesn't cost a lot!
Small enough that kids can wander without parents having to worry. They have animals that children can see and even pet. Have a lot of activities for children around 2-7yrs old.
Took almost 3 year old great grandson. He stayed busy for over 3 hours until I was tired. He could have stayed longer. Water table wasn't working - one of his favorites - but plenty more kept him busy and happy. Highly recommended! Went on a free Saturday afraid that it would be overly packed, but it was great.
Love going here and 1 a month they have a free day
Good place to take your kids and explore !!!!
We took my just 2 year old daughter there this weekend. We had a lot of fun. Very creative and a lot of different types of activities. A lot of the activities have variability that allow them to reach many ages-for instance, there’s a light box and my daughter enjoyed watching the pegs light up and practiced coordination but an older child could make a pattern/picture etc. they even have some challenges like memory games for even older children. Only negative thing is some of the stuff is missing pieces or getting very worn out. Still a great morning and reasonable cost, esp with the monthly discount. Will definitely go again.
I didn't want to kill myself, so it's good.
They refused entry into the museum because my 19 year daughter didn't have a kid with her. I called them and asked them why they denied her entry and they said "because she did not have a child with her to go in." The lady said "They had problems with people before so they won't let any one in without a child now." I said that is isn't on a website and she said that she would email somebody about the situation. She was very disrespectful and talked to me like I was a child. My daughter traveled very far to get there and had to go back home. I hope they will improve in the future. Very terrible experience.
My kids had a blast!
At the Muncie convention center for my DAUGHTER TO TAKE iSTEP. Sleeped in a chair. Nothing to see here. Nothing to eat here.
i have very fond memories of crying in the ant wall and shopping for fake food in the grocery store. also remember dipping my hands in water tanks that held rubber ducks. tractors are also coming to mind. an overall great place to create vague childhood memories.
I think they need to update some aspects of the place. The grocery store needs updating and Some of the trains weren't working, which was disappointing since my son wanted to see them all working. The upstairs area never has anything interesting for kids to do! The water area didn't have enough items to play with. The new ranger area was very cool though and the addition of some of the critters was nice. It has stuff more for toddler to 7 years old. But the older the kid the less stuff there is for them to be interested in. I don't see why they charge every person though. I understand they need to make money, but my 78 yr old mom isn't going to be doing much!
Small children's museum but worth a trip. A good variety of activities including a small learning city, animals a unique playground a construction city. It's getting worn down and old but still can be fun.
