Really neat to look at the history of such a small, rather lost in time northwestern town. Great layout and the staff are really great people. If you’re ever passing through, definitely stop by.

A step back in time to single class basketball when there were 750 teams vying for a state championship. The photos, memorabilia, recordings, and videos paint a picture of a simpler time when a very special group of young men did the unthinkable. With items from the movie Hoosiers in place, the story of the Milan miracle seems to come alive as one wanders this iconic venue. Kudos to those diligent souls who put this museum together.

Its next door to our Blue Olive Cafe. The people are wonderful and the building is a historical Bank. Such a wonderful use of Old Milan Downtown area. There are plans to build a town square in an empty lot across the street. Such a nice thing. Cant wait to get that project under way.

It is fortuitous that such a team could field the court. It says something that human resources from such a small community were present and came to establish a museum, had the insight and where-with-all to put out a dragnet to obtain, preserve, and certify items such as the hardwood floor. My hat us off to the citizens of Milan and their friends for screwing their hats down and preserving one of the true cornerstones to basketball. With pride and enthusiasm I have brought your story to western Alaska in the form of floor piece and the 12 page newspaper edition. This supercedes any story of basketball, including the 1986 Alaska girls State basketball champions. (That was the Koliganek Huskies who had three girls in the entire high school and fielded a team of five with two eighth graders.) The Huskies fouled out one in the third quarter and another in the fourth quarter to win the state title with three on the court. Amazingly it was the first time that coach had coached a team and he told the press he had not played basketball, but that read a book and was blessed with a team of talented, stubborn hoopsters.

Excellent place to visit for basketball lovers. I enjoyed the personal bios on the players and the memorabilia from that era! Hawg Heaven BBQ on the same street as the museum is a great place to eat!
