First time for an art museum for me. Guess I expected a little bit more from an art museum. It was fascinating for the first time. There is seven exhibits possible with their space given. They give you a map and there's plenty of signage to tell you what you are looking. Staff was helpful when we arrived and offered assistance if we needed help.
I had never been to an art museum before so I'm hardly an expert but going here is very enjoyable and calming. It's quite, and chill and it's very interesting to read about all the prices they have inside. Their selection is always changing as well with new artists and collaborations so it's always worth a revisit.
I love this place. For two years now, my husband and I have stopped in during a summer art festival we attend. This year, we brought our younger son (17). HE even enjoyed it! They support local artists and I enjoy the friendly atmosphere. What a wonderful, hidden treasure! Definitely take the time to visit. You won't be disappointed, and you'll actually be a little proud of Fort Wayne's hard work for the community's enjoyment.
The museum of art in Fort Wayne is spectacular. Did you know that the museum rotates exhibits more than most art museums? They do it to keep people interested more and it is amazing because you can go multiple times and see a completely different exhibit.
It's no doubt a great museum for a small city like Fort Wayne. They constantly change artworks every few months to keep the locals engaged. However, if you're in the mindset that it'll be like the art museums within bigger cities (Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, etc.), then you will not see it here. At this time, I feel that it is a good place to visit. It's nothing spectacular and I didn't leave feeling impressed. I believe that over time, things will get better as they will offer better artworks.
Awesome rotaion of beautiful national and local artists.
Expensive to get into not that much to see
During our visit the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards featuring the Gold and Silver Key winning art and writing by students in grades 7-12 from the local area was on display. This was a juried competition and there was fantastic work on display including poetry but the exhibit felt very packed! Loved all the pieces but it probably could have been edited down to better showcase the winners.
Beautiful art work
Always a great time when we visit!
Really enjoyed my visit there interesting art on display
This recently expanded museum serves a medium size city very well. The variety of shows along with the regular cyclical exhibits is designed to draw in those who are not normally museum goers, as well as the regulars. The traveling shows that are brought in are worth a visit as is the permanent collection items.
The art is Very creative. I wish we had more contributors, artists though.
Real nice museum.
An art museum small enough to get thru in a couple hours while still taking your time to experience the art. Includes a kid focused room. When we were there, a room of local high school art work was on display. This was very interesting and refreshing.
Hidden gem in the fort. Free admission on Thursday. Take the kids and get some art in your life!
Great place to visit. Lots of arts.
Exhibits change but always something interesting. Looks like they have a permanent Dale Chihuly glass exhibit.
I have lived in Fort Wayne my whole life never went to this gem until recently if your a resident or just visiting do yourself a favor and check out all the beautiful and interesting art on display here.
Wonderful museum!!!
Really neat building, didn't experience much of the art since we had a wedding reception of something hundreds of humans but the layout, presentation of deserts, and atmosphere makes for a grand space without the overpriced city feel of many a downtown venue.
Long live the arts and this crucial champion.
Use to work there awesome place to get your culture on
A gem of the Fort Wayne art community. Constantly showing new exhibits so if you haven't been for a while, you should definitely make a point to go ... especially to check out the new Chihuly Glass Chandelier!
Clean and kid friendly!
Great place to stop and see captivating works of art in and outside of the building.
For a small museum, it's got a great collection. There are always visiting exhibits, too. A membership is the best choice, because you could easily go quite often (they are also part of a reciprocal program with other museums). There are classes, programming for children, and a wonderful shop that sells the work of local artists.
Exactly what you would expect for an art museum. I enjoyed seeing the local high school students art!
It was okay. I just thought there would be more art then from what I saw.
A small museum--basically one gallery, that changes every few months. It's usually more recent artists, within the last century. The children's space (small, but keeps young and elementary-aged children occupied) and the gift shop (lots of local artists, beautiful work) are the best parts.
Clean
There wasn't much to see. Kind of a small museum. They did have a good art expo though.
Variety of Art and Artists
Don't go here expecting to see works by well known artists. All art housed here is contemporary, when there are renowned artists you have to pay an extra fee. I would rather drive to Toledo and see Renoir and Degas for a $5 parking fee and good will donation. It's a small museum and feels more like a contemporary art gallery than a museum. If it were more outlandish like MoMA it would be more fun, but it's mediocre at best.
No recomendado para nada
Very nice time with my son. First visit for both of us. Looking forward to future visits!
We are so lucky to have this museum.
My favorite place in the entire city. I love the Fort Wayne Museum of Art
Nice small museum. Nice collection of Winslow Homer.
Was great
Amazing affordable date place and great art.
Always have interesting collection of stuff from local artists.
A nice variety of styles of art. Great descriptions of art & artist. Gorgeous glass pieces. The gift store featured local artists. My granddaughter & i enjoyed the room where you could touch the stamps that made the prints. Interesting for young & old!
This was a lovely stop for my weekend trip. There's a good variety of styles and time periods represented, and a big focus on local artists, with some international work as well. The staff is very friendly and military members, veterans, and dependents all get in free with ID, along with a guest. The gift shop has some beautiful and unique items. Non-flash photography is allowed in the gallery too.
The art festival was so much fun!!
Especially if you like glass
Family fun and great for all ages of you go on your own. .
FWMoA is a solid midwestern regional museum which hosts traveling exhibitions as well as a select number of curated exhibitions in house! Don't forget to check out their sculpture courtyard and hit up Sachi in their works on paper gallery where you can get a selection of their expansive contemporary print collection!
Great exhibits
This recently expanded museum serves a medium size city very well. The variety of shows along with the regular cyclical exhibits is designed to draw in those who are not normally museum goers, as well as the regulars. The traveling shows that are brought in are worth a visit as is the permanent collection items.
They offer free admission with military ID ( with guest), always new things to see
Well kept museum.
Great venue, if a bit small
Annual pass is best deal. Exhibits change frequently & there's always something new to see.
Just go there. If you enjoy art. Just. Go. Its. Worth. It.
Small, but nicely done. Admission is very reasonable.
Thursdays free admission.
Veteran place to stop. Not really for children but it was nice to walk around and listen to my son echo his voice as the other people were enjoying the exhibits. Right next to competitions this year stopped by to kill some time.
Can be hit or miss depending on what style of art you like. But for the most part they do a great job of bringing great works of art to the downtown area.
Interesting!!
Great place for good price !
Nothing very interesting, artwise. Seemed overpriced for what they had.
Get your cultural side on. Relax and browse the entire museum gallery's at your own pace. All different works of art from old to new. Neet place.
I love everything about FW Museum of Art. Enjoy your visits!
Guitar exhibition is quite large, was pleasantly surprised with quantity, displays, and individual differences of unique guitars.
Fantastic display of youth artwork
Loved it
Nothing vintage
They have some absolutely beautiful glass art in there currently. The rest of the art is nice too (i'm just a glass fan).
I really enjoy some of the shows and events they put on here, but I feel sometimes that it could use a little bit of a spark. Don't get me wrong, they have some great things they do but sometimes their events fall flat. Their seasonal parties could really use a complete rethinking.
Very well laid out. Great time
Really great museum in every way. I think the recent run of exhibits has been especially strong. A solid way to spend an afternoon.
Had an excellent time walking around the museum with my wife. The glass exhibit was fantastic, as well as the Chuck Sperry exhibit. I'm not a huge art guy but this was a really good time.
We picked a rainy day to visit the Museum of Art and fortunately free parking was nearby. Free lockers (with key) are available to stow your coats and umbrellas. We started our tour with the landscape glass sculptures and the display cases of brilliant cut glass. From there we were awed by the talent of middle school/high school students who were 2019 Scholastic Art and Writing Award winners. The depth, feeling, understanding, and creativity of such young students is hard to comprehend. Words can't describe how talented these young people are.
Enjoyed the glass blowing demonstration
JUST AN AWESOME DISPLAY OF ART, AN STAFF ARE AS POLITE AS EVER!!!
Love this place, it always has new and I terrifying exhibits and if you check the website the visit is free on certain days.
Always wanted to visit ,love every second there, fabulous and peaceful, look forward to returning and viewing what are artist are doing in our community
Great to expose children to art of all types. Great to have such a big city level museum in Fort Wayne.
The 2018 international glass collection was what we came for, but we saw this most amazing wonderland collection. Will definitely come again.
Great exhibit photos of jazz greats. New exhibits all the time.
Interesting exhibits. Live music was playing. This company is really growing with the local community.
It wasn't what I had anticipated, I was disappointed. But being is I'm from the Detroit area originally I'm used to the Detroit institute of Art.
Great curators! Very nice space.
Best Art Museum in Fort Wayne.
Sketch display was awesome
Lots to do and touch
Not very big. A little expensive to get in for what you get elsewhere, but worth the visit.
I happened to go when they were showcasing student art and it's amazing how talented those kids were. I'm glad I popped in! The museum is small, you probably won't spend more than an hour there, but it's worth the stop.
The big sign on the front of the building that says "Chihuly" is a bit misleading. Yeah, it's cool that they have a large glass chandelier in their main lobby made by Chihuly, but that's it??? Was kind of a let down for us.
Worth the visit in the Arts District. Lots of other museums and within walking distance of downtown.
Suprisingly great!
Great, interesting stuff.
Better than I expected!
Now I love the art museum. However, there is one thing that drives me absolutely crazy about it. Why do they have the absolute worst hours possible?!? I mean they open at 10 am and close at 6 pm most nights. Except on Thursday they are open to 8 pm. I am sorry but I can never make it to there because I get off at 5:15 and by the time I drive there it is already 5:45. Maybe you should consider changing your hours to fit the average working citizen better. Other than that, the place is constantly rotating its collections to give patrons a new experience every few months.
(Translated by Google) Excellent place (Original) Exelente lugar
Great exhibits. Great staff.
This museum is so fun and always changing! They also have a gift shop filled with local art! This place is a must see if you are in the area!
Loved it!
Great exhibits.
I am not an art fanatic so take my review with a grain of salt. This was a fun inexpensive walkthrough with the family. The children were kind of bored because it is more adult-oriented.
Neat experience, testy employees.
Amazing pieces of art
Great museum in Fort Wayne. Has great exhibits, and the gift shop in the museum, called the Paradigm Gallery showcases and sells art work by local artists. The staff is always helpful.
The art is truly inspiring!!!!
Curator Josef Zimmerman has kept this museum neck deep in great contemporary artists whose work is often associated with "those big cities." From the family friendly area with various manipulatives, literature, and art materials to the exhibited works, the FWMoA is world class.
Not much to see.
Very Nice Displays....Well Worth The Time
A wonderful experience with helpful directions and information. I will definitely be visiting the museum again in the near future.
This facility provides easy, affordable access to beautiful and important artwork in a pleasant, unobtrusive atmosphere. It's a good place to relax and think. I'm frequently impressed by Fort Wayne's art scene. The quality and dedication are consistent with a much larger city. Good job!
This is a family friendly environment. So, there is no display with nudity or other suggestive material. In fact, the spectrum display was very nice. I enjoyed it very much.
Nice place
Beautiful building with friendly staff and interesting exhibits. Quiet and enjoyable.
Very nice and interesting. Enjoyed walking around and reading the history of people's creative ideas.
Enjoyed the current exhibits and will be back when new ones come in. We enjoy how easy it is to walk through at your own pace, well placed pieces, and great lighting.
Basic cement walls,floors,ceiling.Outside the same.
Not much to look at here. We were disappointed there were very few sculptures or exhibits.
love this arts work
The Wonderland exhibit is not to be missed! And the gift shop and kids area are highlights of every visit.
Fun exhibits and nice facility
Beautiful art
The staff just friendly and the museum is phenomenal. Well kept and well worth visiting!
Great place to see new exhibits!
Great exhibits and shows and a nice gift shop
Really beautiful exhibits, cleanly and amazingly displayed, with plenty of information on each piece, and pamphlets for each display. The guy at the desk was nice and made sure I knew about the available discounts. Very clean building and the outdoor sculpture area is also lovely. Their website is also very well-done, and any information you could want is very easy to find. They even gave alternative routes taking road construction into account.
What a rip off. $6 for kids, $8 adults for a handful of contemporary exhibits that were similar. Breezed through this in maybe 10 minutes feeling completely dissatisfied.
An excellent variety of exhibits. Clean and spacious. Cute gift shop.
Very nice place. New art displays, events and clean facility. I liked my time here!
The exhibits were really vivid. Some interactive features too
Small museum, but very interesting. There are 2 photo exhibitions that are very profound, moving and incredibly human. I spent 2 hours there and could not get enough of these 2 great artists.
Love spending time here.
Great guitar experience, great variety.
Very nice exhibits but very small. We are lucky to have this museum in FW. I particularly enjoyed the print exhibit.
I was so very disappointed with my visit. There were 3 rooms we were able to go into. Short of a few display cases everything else was framed art on the walls. We were given a $2 discount because they were taking down displays in other areas. It honestly took all of 20 minutes to see everything thoroughly. There should not be any charge for the minimal display available. Sadly I will not return.
I was there with my grandson attending an art class. It's a fun class that teaches some basics for 3D art.
I really enjoyed the ecclectic amount of exhibits they had going. It was such a joy to walk through and experience it all.
The new glass exhibit is great. A lot of work went into that.
Excellent Museum in Fort Wayne... Glass art is marvelous
Very nice and beautiful inside, but due to the market here in Fort Wayne, aside from a few striking pieces, the collection is rather boring.
