Where to begin.... I was deeply moved and saddened at the same time. It is a small museum but very well put together. The museum is located right off the main road and was easy to find. Parking was sufficient. When I entered I was greeted by a lovely women who greeted me and made sure I knew where to start my tour. She made an extra trip in to let me know there would be a holocaust survivor speaking later that day. Its not filled with gruesome pictures but personal items that really make you feel the horror of the situation. I believe everyone should visit a holocaust museum at some time.

Fantastic little museum, so educational. The best part was meeting Walter, we were lucky enough to go on a Wednesday when Walter was giving a talk about growing up in Germany, he isn't a Holocaust survivor himself but it was so interesting to hear about his experience during that time. There is also a wonderful interactive exhibit in the back where there's a video projection of Eva and you can ask her questions about her experiences, it was really interesting & at the same time so heartbreaking to hear the things she survived. I highly recommend this museum. Also the two young men working there that day were so friendly & nice.

So worth the drive if you are not local. It doesn't take a long time and the new virtual Eva is fun.

This museum provided a lot of insight as to what happened during the Holocaust and the living example of it's survivor Eva Kor. Wonderful story to learn about. Very happy to see this place move into a larger space in downtown soon.

Ms. Kor's talk was informative and inspiring She also gave photo ops. I was initially concerned that my smile was inappropriate given the circumstances so they let me reshoot it. Then Ms.Kor even encouraged me to say "cheese." What a wonderful spirit!!!

History must be never be forgotten.

Small museum, but very important to "bring home" the atrocities people are capable of committing against their fellow humans. The small museum is set up very well to ask meaningful questions that help the visitor, especially middle school age children, think about how the history is relevant today. I highly recommend that you make an effort to see one of the survivors speak here while it is still possible. Eva gives an excellent lecture. Check their web page for a calendar.

I was doing some online research on forgiveness and came across Eva Mozes Kor. After watching some videos online, I wanted to see her in person and I finally did in November 2017. My only regret was not coming to this place sooner. I was able to learn more about forgiveness through the Question and Answer segment of her talk and asking her one-on-one after. Forgiving does not condone the past actions but instead frees you from the bitter response from it. That's my takeaway. Visiting this place was well worth the 6 hour drive.

Jared Wuerzburger

One of the foremost locations for Holocaust history in the United States. Brand new exhibits with tablet applications that further your learning experience. Candles also now has a jacket worn by an actual surviver which was donated from New York. Must see in the Wabash.

There was a room with 20 people, (white people) and no one was in there watching them. I go through the museum and I decide why not check out the last room in the back. I go and right behind I have the staff standing there watching me. (I'm black) I felt extremely awkward trying to read this history and being watched like I'm likely going to do something wrong. Even in a room full of persecution on the walls, I'm being persecuted for being African American...

Small museum with significant personal view of Auschwitz. It is good to remember so we do not repeat the horror. The hologram of Eva was interesting and it felt as if she was with us. Rest in peace and may she be with all the loved ones she lost.

Donna Jackson

Nice place to learn some history. Really neat that they have a video image that you can ask questiins of.

Barbara Bruce

Small but interesting interactive part really cool go on day when speaker is available.

It's a very special place, small and personal. I heard Eva Kor speak back when I was in college, and she was powerful to hear. This summer I had purchased tickets in spring for my kids and I to hear her again, but due to her passing, we missed her by two weeks. We still made the trip from Indy, and it was worth it. Her video speech was stil powerful. There weren't many kids there beside mine, but she actually acknowledged the next generation, and I felt that was powerful. My kids came away wanting to do their part to help make the world a better place. We won't forget.

Great graphic wall displays with Holocaust information. It also promotes forgiveness and peace. Call ahead and see if a Docent will be there to tell their story. It's the most well-balanced museum of that kind that I have ever seen. Small but worth it.

Eva is incredible. She forgave all of the people who wronged her. I'd like to think I would forgive someone after wronging me, but on a scale as large as hers, I don't think I could bring myself to it. I met Eva three years ago. It was incredible to see someone so abused standing strong and unwavering. I recommend going to the Candles Holocaust Museum ever day of the week (Sunday and Monday excluded). It is an absolutely unforgettable experience and I wouldn't trade it for just about anything. Eva, you are an inspiration!

Christopher Sanders

Lisa Brinkley

What a great experience! We were fortunate enough to get to speak with Eva Cor, a holocaust survivor.

Kimberly Wax

They had a fire, so the exhibits are scarce . The written explanations are brief and seem to slant towards forgiveness. It did bothered me because I know forgiveness and justice are linked. I have difficulty writing that because I am not a Holocaust survivor, but have only been through personal trauma, and do not wish to.diminish Eva's perspective. So, if you have been through anything traumatic, just be careful if you go through that part of the museum. The second part of the museum is why this is worth the drive. There is a hologram of an older gentleman to whom you can ask questions. If I recall, he answers over 900 questions. Once I worked past the strangeness of talking to an image, I only wished I could have shaken the man's hand and told him how much I appreciated his words. It was an amazing and wonderful experience; one that should not be missed. I found the staff to be polite at first, but they became very political very quickly. They did not hide their disgust of Donald Trump nor were their comments discrete about how the Eva supported him. My husband and I found their comments rude and unprofessional. We wish we could have met the Eva, who is the survivor and for whom the museum is centered around, but she was touring. (I suggest the Grand Traverse Pie Company to complete your visit to Terre Haute.)

Randy Banks

True history told by someone who has seen it.

The Candles Museum was very interesting. I’m so sad that I didn’t come sooner so I could’ve met Eva in person. What an inspirational woman. Lots of info and a very interesting interactive question and answer program. I’d highly recommend.

Very special place in Terre Haute, IN that tells a story that continues to need to be told. Here they have a special interactive theater with Holocaust survivors that is only in 2 places in the world from my understanding. I had the honor of hearing Eva Kor tell her story at the museum. The museum does a fantastic job of relating the Holocaust to social justice issues today. Makes us question, what history is in the making right now that we are being silent on. Definitely worth a visit! So glad it is there!

My family drove from Cincinnati. The drive was insignificant when compared to the experience we received. We were all moved by Eva's story and lesson in forgiveness as a means of taking back the ability to make peace with atrocity. This is one of the most important messages I have ever received. Donations are accepted. They do have tours. There is ample parking.
