This was an excellent museum. Despite its size, they did excellent with the space, and there was plenty to see. I spent nearly 2hrs looking at everything. They have done a great job with each exhibit. However, the lady at the front desk seemed a bit "off" mood wise, and I didn't get very friendly vibes from her. Other than that, I definitely reccomend stopping by this museum if you should find yourself coming through town.

What a great museum. Interactive for little kids. Informative for bigger kids. History from as recent as the 60s70s, through Lincoln's time in Illinois and all the way back to bison and how coal and fossils are made.

Good Memorial Day trip. Could have been better but waterfall pond etc. under construction. I am sure will be great when done.

This place is incredible! We love spending a rainy or cold weekend exploring the fun and interactive exhibits. When it's nice, we love to play in the gardens. Every time we go I'm amazed its free!

Great free museum with hands on displays for children. The botanical garden behind the museum is nice too. We spent half a day learning and everyone had a good time. My only complaint would be that the gift shop didn't have a souvenir magnet with the Museum name on it for us to remember our visit.

This is a great small town cultural location. The exhibits have been well maintained with many recent updates. Donations accepted but no admission. It's a great place for families.

We have always enjoyed going to this museum. It is very interactive. A lot to do for any age. Coming this year they are updating the children's play area. It's a beautiful section on the lower level were children can play and live life like in prairie times. They also have many wonderful free programs for all ages. May family love this place.

My 5 year old and 12 year old love this museum. They have interactive exhibits covering topics ranging from Abraham Lincoln and one room schools to civil rights in the 1960s and the basics of a telegraph. High quality for parents and kids alike.

The Museum of the Grand Prairie has excellent exhibits that will teach you about the Native American people of the region and tell the story the westward movement of settlers and the tension within Illinois over the Civil War. The museum also hosts classes and workshops. I took one on botanical drawing that I really enjoyed (just be prepared for a clunky interface when you sign up). Ans, of course, it's right next to the small but lovely botanical garden, part of Lake of the Woods, and across the street from Buffalo Trace, so you have walking and biking options.

I attended this museum as a chaperone for my child’s field trip. The museum in of itself is very informative and well supplied with historical artifacts but the staff is utterly terrible. Their distain for children and their life in general is grossly apparent in every interaction. Their attitudes made what could have been an exciting opportunity to learn more like being trapped in a totalitarian state. Kids are exhausting and the staff wants to protect the artifacts, I get that, but these children we’re perfectly behaved and there was no need for their terrible attitudes. Lighten up and engage and don’t act like it’s a bother for you to teach these kids. I would go back but not if we have to listen to the staff

This is a great gem! I didn't expect much as this is a small town and the building looked small from the outside. But, I was oh so wrong! There is PLENTY to do, even without the special events, programs, etc. ALL the staff is friendly and seem to really enjoy children! The camps are fun! The interactive exhibits are great. My 1 and 5 year old enjoy it all. They have one section that changes every time I've gone, so it's nice that there is always something new. The garden and botanical gardens are fun to explore, pretty and well maintained.

It is a great place for kids to learn about history. An you can also interact with the displays. Most have a button you push and it tells the story. I really enjoy this place.

we rode our bikes out here all the way from Champaign it was an awesome museum with a bunch of cool stuff my favorite were the animals and all of the prehistoric type things that they had their but they had many different types of history about Illinois and the Grand prairie they had a nice area to walk around in and the park beautiful trees a wonderful time I recommend it to anybody kids adults alike.

This is a great place to better understand the history of life on the prairie. It's especially nice in the summer because of the arboretum and the nature walk both of which are expansive!

I love this place!! It looks very unassuming from the front but walking through the doors you'll be amazed. It has wonderful exhibits and an awesome interactive play room for the kids. Behind the building is a beautiful walk through gardens and a large garden for veggies and fruits.

This was a great little museum. My wife and I had a great time there and loved all the interactive things that you could do (we are still children at heart, lol) but would be great to bring your children to to get some good history.

The prairie trail is excellent. 5 miles of prairie flowers, woods, and wildlife. A hidden gem.
