REVIEWS OF Museum Of Contemporary Art Chicago IN Illinois

Yesmine Boukhili

It’s a great museum for those who enjoy contemporary art, located at the heart of downtown Chicago. The admission fee is pricey thought ($25 for adults and $19 for students). If you’re a tourist, it’s worth the visit if you’re spending a least 3-4 days in the city.

Clipe Lyre

A really large variety of art pieces, and some really cool works of creativity. There is at least a thing or two that you'll really enjoy, even though you won't enjoy it all.

betsy reed

I went to a special event and was greeted with great smile and directions on what to do next. A/C was comfy, aisles were mice and wide.Reasonable admission price and we got a Swag bag

John Robbins

Fine dning at Marisol open until 10pm

Stephen Wiggins

Amazing forward thinking art works

Richard Dawson

Would have appreciated a written guide. Art doesn't have to be a mystery does it?

hesham elbarbary

Good food, good service reasonable prices

Janice

On behalf of my 9 year old who found the artwork "creepy' and wishes to argue with the Google review that says it's "good for kids" I am giving it one star. TBH, the deeper social and political meaning of much of the art displays would go over most kids heads. And some of it may not be age appropriate. Mom says, it's a good place to see new artists. Most of the sections today were social commentary art rather than just purely asthetic art. So if art for is pretty paintings and sculptures, then this place is not for you. If you like art challenging cultural ideas, then you may like it. It is slightly overpriced for it's size.

Jacob Noble

Really nice museum. I went specifically to see Virgil Abloh’s “FIGURE OF SPEECH” exhibit and it was fantastic. The people working there were also very nice. I’d recommend going.

Amare Bello

Very nice museum. It's a great place for short evening dates. There is also a cafe.

Daniel Rosekopanke

Smallish museum, most of it is pretty bland and dumb, but there are a few real gems. Price is right though. "Love is the message, the Message is Death" is by far the most powerful piece there.

Tiffani Davis

Not appropriate for 6 year olds but a deep experience to take in

Kristi Tolentino

Really rad museum in a good location. Center of the city it seems. It's a nice place to just hang out and chill, but also see some amazing art from people all around the world. And a lot of the art had so much history and information and passion behind it, at least when I went I thought that of the exhibitions I saw. It's set up a bit funky and there's some construction going on, so it seems as though there could've been more to see had they been done with construction, which would've been nice, but alas, it's okay. I think it's also worth the price especially if you don't mind hanging out for a bit. There are tons of different seating areas and nice views to look at. It seems very open so I don't think it's ever overwhelmingly crowded like other museums, which I like. It all just feels very fresh, very enjoyable. Would totally go back for a new exhibition!

Megan Virginie Stephenson

This is a very nice and interesting museum that is also well priced. There are 4 floors of art, a gift shop, a cafe. Cute.

Bernadette Biggs

Went to see the Figures of Speech exhibit. Really enjoyed. Also visited the others exhibited. Great time and then lunch downtown. $15 Admission was reasonable.

Valerie Jardon

Great location for private events that need to stand out. The recent remodel has made the space even more beautiful.

Kai Caylen

Too small! There were private event going on while we were visiting and the music was wayyy too loud.

Taylor Thomas

Kinda less stuff than I expected but still impressive

Ruth Burant

I really enjoyed this museum. It was relatively small, but powerful. The exhibits will enlighten you and open your eyes to a new way of thinking.

Arie Davis

Nice place for a quiet day with the kiddo.

Cassie Craven

It's Contemporary Art... and I love it. I prefer visiting when there's a special exhibit like Murakami, or for this instance, Virgil Abloh. Tuesdays are the best days for an Illinois residents to visit as it's free!

Alpha Beta

Very cool institution, you learn something insightful every time you visit.

Sarah Lensink

We went to a free family day here and spent 3 hours! It was so fun!

May Trieu

Well organized. Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of things to see.

Kevin

Great place to check out especially if you're staying on Michigan Ave. Tucked just off the Magnificent Mile, there are often thought-provoking works here. For art lovers, it's great to pair with the Art Institute for a packed day. There's a restaurant called Marisol which I didn't get a chance to check out but looked great. If you have a Bank of America credit card, I recommend using their museums on us program the first weekend of each month to get free admission.

John Dickson

Wonderful museum with many rotating exhibits.

William Bowen

Pretty small, one exhibit was closed and the museum was free. Thank the Lord, there wasn't much to see

Steve W

The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is one of the world’s largest contemporary art venues. If you love contemporary art you must visit. The permanent exhibition is challenging yet accessible. There’s a great cafe and the front steps are a great place to chill out. It’s located downtown near Water Tower Place.

Larry Case

The museum is cozy and worldly. You don't feel overwhelmed when you are there. I had a good time learning about the artists vision.

Ramya Sadagopan

I just don't understand this place at all. How is water dripping from AC unit into a plant is art? A ceiling fan in a rectangle outlet is art? However, their shop was pretty cool though. You can find Keith haring, Andy Warhol and Hermes items for a reasonable price.

Samuel Strother

Don't miss this if you visit Chicago. Some really cool and engaging exhibits. Definitely not your typical art museum.

Nick Longfellow

a must stop if visiting really nice exhibitions

William Berthouex

The exhibits are thought-provoking and unique.

Inez Suen

Good museum in general. Relevant contemporary topics in art, performance and events. Go get a membership! Support! Great store. I shop there A LOT for gifts. Restaurant is new, and I always go there on off but they’re never open when I need them to be during museum hours in the afternoons, so I can have my client meetings and eat late lunch, but they close btw lunch/dinner service which is no good.

William Utasi

Beautiful venue for all occasions!

Joe Marusak

Good museum, but so narrow in focus. We have been members here and at the Art Institute of Chicago. The Art Institute sees us much more often.

Nataliya Lev

The had a very good exhibit of Abloh works. Every time I am there though, I find myself regretting the size of the museum. It is smallish.

Jeffrey Lewis

Went here to see the Virgil exhibit. Beautiful museum

Tarun Mutukuri

2 out of the 3 floors were closed for renovations or to add new art and we were not informed of it while we were getting the tickets. The exhibits that are open are decent but I wanted more and it doesn't feel like it was my money's worth

August

Definitely one of the best museums in Chicago. If you want something more modern than the Art Institute, this is definitely the place to go. They are constantly rotating out new exhibits and there is always something great to see. Tuesdays are free entry if you are an Illinois resident too. No excuse not to go.

Keith Largo

When we went there were many spaces that we're closed off. It's a cool place to visit though. It took us less than two hours to get visit all the exhibits

Rodrigo De Luna

Better go to the Art Institute of Chicago, they have a much better collection overall. Some of the exhibits here were very randomly put together and didn't have a lot of artistic value.

Petunia

The art was cool but I felt very intimidated by all the security guards staring at me the entire time. I said hello to many of them and their facial expressions didn’t change. Very threatening.

Kayti Kennedy

It was alright. Not the most interesting thing. And there are only a few things in a section on a floor. But it's cheap and a fun thing to do if you want to check out some art.

Pamela Seaton

Beautiful museum and great theater inside.

Sara J

It was ok. Some neat things done not, but that's contemporary art. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

Carrie Hickman

Staircase is nice. Very few interesting items otherwise.

Lauren A.

Great morning at the museum. Easy to get to from public transit. The staff was really helpful too. A variety of art styles and genres.

Hannah Soltys

Definitely my favorite art museum in Chicago. Even if you don't like contemporary art, I would highly recommend giving it a shot as it might surprise you. They do a great job of highlighting national, international AND local artists in their shows and their exhibitions are spectacular. If you still aren't into their art, the gift shop is super fun and has tons of great gifts for anyone and at any price range.

Jonathan Che

Small museum with interesting range of exhibitions.

Rodrigo Diz

It is well curated, original and insightfull into Virgil Abloh and his exhibition. What caused me a little distraction were the guards that in more than one case spoke very loud at each other from one side to the room to the other. I found several of them to be disrespectful to the artist, the art and ourselves. It should not happen in a place like this.

Venita Deavers

Only go if your truly into art. Was definitely not one of my favorites.

Giada Catanoso

The MCA is a great museum, full of interesting expositions and original artists

Joseph Brayshaw

This is an awesome museum with lots of exhibits and great prices and discounts. It is free for anyone 18 and under and only $8 for students. We went to see the exhibit by Virgil Abloh and it was very full featured and well thought out. There were multiple floors with full exhibits that we didn't even have time to visit. The staff were very helpful and there was even a pop-up shop with designer apparel (Off-White) being sold at retail prices, some of which was unique to the museum.

Kristen Barber

Fabulous exhibit. I left feeling inspired and hopeful.

Walker Armstrong

Great experience, great exhibits. A must see in Chicago!

chris burress

I don't know why so many stars. The artwork is non-existent. No seriously I'm not even speaking from a contemporary point of view. There were so many plaques and identifiers hung with nothing next to them and lots of huge crates which I suspect holds art in them to be mounted. The art that was there was simply scant and barely any worthy of note probably like 15 pieces of art in all in all of the floors

Ashley Adams

A little lacking in exhibitions for the amount we paid per ticket. 4-5 small rooms for $15 each ticket? Was hoping for a bit more. The galleries they did have were wonderful though.

Leanne Chacko

Really great... Was able to see Virgil Abloh "Figures of Speech" really inspiring

Hirsh Guha

Very cool art, quite modern, lots of different mediums. Admission is reasonable for chicago - 15 bucks, or 8 bucks if you're a student. Only thing to note is that there is not that much art. The building looks huge, so my expectation was that I would be there a while. However, it ended being about a 1 hour adventure. It was still very fun, but not something that can fill a day.

Zavier Bookard

Great museum! The staff was extremely courteous and helpful...the collection was stimulating.. The museum store was pretty cool as well.

Andreina Gonzalez

Chicago’s own gem. Exhibits are perfectly curated, artists selection ranges from national to international well know and emerging artists alike.

Jacob Davis

A phenomenal art gallery featuring gorgeous displays. Went here while the Virgil Abloh display was up and was absolutely blown away. The bottom floor features a great coffee shop which is definitely worth checking out. The store located inside the store is very well kept and features items related to the current exhibits. I would recommend this museum to anyone visiting Chicago!

Arthur Lobão

Love their exhibits! Always very insightful and thought provoking. Their gift shop is also one of the most interesting parts of the museum, surprisingly. Hard to find cheap parking, however.

chad svastisalee

As a previous member, I frequented the collections and this trip I was very disappointed in that the main Virgil Abloh exhibit ran out of tickets at 4 pm on a Saturday evening. Save for the outdoor/indoor garden this would have been a 2 star trip.

Elon Sloan

It's my favorite museum. The exhibitions are always interesting. It's a great building to wander

Alesia Selezneva

I'm not a fan of writing negative reviews but this museum was a huge disappointment. It's small and there is nothing worthwhile. The art should make you experience feelings, doesn't matter if it's contemporary or classic.

Dean Blobaum

Always worth a visit. Plus a great bookstore!

Shelley Sharkey

Great museum tucked in between Michigan Avenue and the Lake Shore on the Northside. Easy to see everything in a few hours. Walk to Watertower Place for lunch, or brunch at famous Wildberry on the corner. Exhibits change. We visited specifically to see the Virgil Abloh installation before its end on 9/29, but delighted in many of the other artists on display. Knowledgeable and friendly employees. Great cafe and gift shop too. Parking can be difficult.

Rachael Macko

I like to stop in every so often to get that rush of excitement! So fresh and inspirational. A must to visit regularly! Never disappointed and always gleaming with progress!

Paul Watford

Out for tues8jazz with friends. Great evening

Jerry Binder

Very Interesting first revisit in 15 years

agrafixman

Not a huge dan of these particular exhibits or the way they were on display, but the venue is excellent. Liked a few of the pieces and the video displays, but the 'artists' were a very strange mix.

Estella Cohen

Wonderful alternative museum! ALWAYS FUN and EDUCATIONAL.

S.M. Kozubek

A great exhibit on street styles, advertising and race

John Nelson

A nifty modern art museum in a fab location.

korie lazdowsky

This museum is great. Always new exhibitions so you can keep coming back. I also love the gift shop.

Alex Mononoke

This place is beautiful although i went during a new season when they were setting up new exhibits i still recommend it, its amazing and so beautiful!!

Liliana Martin

We visit the MCA regularly. I love the different exhibits and programs. We specially love attending during Family Days as it exposes children to not only the art exhibits, but also allows them to create art. With contemporary art, it is important to understand the artist and what the artist was trying to portray, as well as the period. I hear so many people say they don’t like contemporary art, and I say that exposure and understanding go a long way. Give it a chance. You will not be disappointed and your mind may open up in unimaginable ways.

roya porshahidy

Beautiful loved the virgil abloh exhibit! really was the coolest place in CHI town

Javier Red

Great though some exhibits are too conceptual.. Tuesdays for free plus jazz concert are great!

Josh Tischler

This museum's exhibits are exquisite! I love how it's a relatively small building but once you're inside, the art becomes so big. I could spend hours upon hours here. Everything inside and out could be considered a piece of art.

Chanyoung Han

Really good place to go with family. Impressed!

Shakey Webster

Beautiful and clean museum. Everyone was so helpful and knowledgeable.

Heidi Kelly Jo

You can walk through the whole thing in an hour. Really loved the copier on a pallet. *insert eye roll* Limited art and not worth the money. I'm an art school grad... so no... it's not that I just didnt "get it".

Adam M

The contemporary elements were mostly artistic and the art was mostly contemporary - a brilliant combination! - but I'd like to see a bit more of both in carefully exacted proportion.

Cole Rogers

One of the best contemporary art museums in the country. The summer exhibitions are always top notch. The collections are always beautifully curated and well organized. Marisol is also a great spot to eat after visiting inside the museum. 5 stars.

Nelson Perumpel

Too contemporary for me but I can see the appeal

Laurent Hamel-St-Hilaire

I liked the exhibitions. They were original and diversified. Most of them had a message, a meaning behind to inform about an opinion or an injustice in the world. Always worth reading them explanations tags. The museum is rather small compared to the Art Institute of Chicago but they also charge half the price. Which is very reasonable.

Jason Obin

Really cool museum! Very interesting and interactive exhibits. The special events they host in the evening are wonderful. The food was great and the bar in the basement is really cool. Definitely worth a visit if you are a fan of art or just want to try something different.

Joshua Spencer

Really awesome place, they had a lot of interesting displays. The Virgil Abloh exhibit "Figures Of Speech" was incredible. I highly recommend

Lisa E

Great variety, always something new. Easy to get to, gallery sizes are perfect to take your time in and really enjoy exhibits without feeling rushed.

Kasey Senatore

Beautiful artwork and a very accessible set-up. I especially loved the interactive yarn sculpture -- it's in the center of the stairs and allows you to climb in after you take your shoes off. They also had a designated quiet room for meditation and prayer, which I thought was touching. The exhibits on black Americans' experiences and history was extremely eye-opening and impactful. Not only was the entire place beautiful, it was deeply moving and resonated with its viewers. It's something I'll remember for a long time. Left me speechless and unable to stop talking.

Sandeep Pinjerla

Good place if you love art. Stairs are must to look down. Paid parking is available around the building.

Sandy Sommers

Great variety of modern art presented beautifully in gallery spaces. Interesting profiles of the artists and the inspiration for their creations.

Trevis Stafford

Great museum for lovers of contemporary art right in the heart of downtown Chicago. Galleries are small relative to the bigger name museums in Chicago. Easy walking distance to the Water Tower and Water Tower Place. I spend half a day there with my family it was interesting.

Sidhant Dewan

Wow, absolutely blown away by the exhibits here, especially the Virgil Abloh exhibit, one of the best museums I have ever been to

Debbie Savaiano

Rich with contemporary art and a very popular spot. This museum opens my eyes and my mind. The Virgil Abloh exhibit surprised me with it's depth of thought. I didn't expect that on the fashion side of the exhibit.

Royce Cottingham

A great museum. And great atmosphere and always very friendly staff.

Shwetha Ramachandra Acharya

Love love love! Extremely fascinating exhibits! Loved the Murakami exhibit in 2017.

Elise Condamin

Nice building. Interesting installations.

James Pecchio

Small and intimate collection. Really enjoyed the Laurie Simmons collection. Can walk through the entire museum in about two hours depending on how much you want to read. Was family day and there were a number of interactive things for the kids to do. Would definitely recommend.

Kiersten Simon

I really liked it. The exhibits we went to were very powerful and impactful.

Liang Chong

I like its show and exhibition so much!!! Even better than the New York museums in my eyes. Especially the Virgil Abhol speech, it is really amazing.

Linda Evans

Love this place. Always changing exhibits. Gift shop is fantastic source of art books more gifts then one can probably carry. We love the cafeteria with Wolfgang Puck food.

Millie Rey

Beautiful museum with amazing exhibits and dazzling performances

Junko Doyle

Good exhibition. User their app, then with GPS, it is easy to find the exhibition you want to see.

JN K

Today's collections are too limited. How can it expect people pay the admission fee for these poor collections? The products of museum store are much better. If you expect the experience in other contemporary art museums in NY and LA, you'd better not to go! The museum must pay back fot the time loss of its visitors.

Nancy Conro

Seasonal shows- all worth coming to see. Their suggested pricing is really nice but you must insist on the price you can pay.

Ellie Kang

Love the free Tuesdays for local residents and farmer's market in front is fun as well!

Darien Law

Very cool place. Pay what you can and the store is very cute albeit very hipster and pricey. Exhibits change every so often. Spend maybe 40-60min here. What happened to the koi fish tho??

Bora Bora

Rarely I see an art museum open late. The facility is welcoming, clean, well secured. It's contemporary art for sure, and there's a restaurant downstairs

Miranda Steier

Great museum for lovers of contemporary art right in the heart of downtown Chicago. Galleries are small relative to the bigger name museums in Chicago. Easy walking distance to the Water Tower and Water Tower Place. Parking garages are available in the area and seem to range roughly between $18 and $35 depending on length of stay in the area. Also accessible via public transportation.

Daniel Richards

Love this place. You can see entire museum in less than 90 mins, then grab dinner at Marisol!

G Party

Always fun. Including the fun and quirky items available in the gift shop. The exhibits change, so just one visit won't be enough to get a real appreciation for this place.

Kenni Terrell

A great museum that is free for Chicago residents on Tuesday and they host Jazz.

Anne Komac

This has always been one of my favorite museums in Chicago, but today's visit was a disappointment. In the past I have so enjoyed the variety of the pieces displayed - photography, painting, sculpture, mixed media pieces to mixed to be categorized. Today's exhibit was almost entirely photographs. Interesting photographs, but so many as to be monotonous.

Dave Mohone

Loved this museum it was definitely worth it seeing all the nice art etc.

Steven Dominguez

This was a good museum with 4 floors of art. Its definitely a must see if in neighborhood.

Marco Marchese

Smaller than expected but great art value and amazing exposition!!

Max Weiss

By personal preference I like the MCA over the Art Institute of Chicago. Although it is much smaller by comparison, I find its uniform construction and spacious galleries more appealing. Exhibits are updated regularly, and after you consider the cafe located downstairs and restaurant on the second level it is a pretty appealing venue. Oh, and the museum shop is definitely worth checking out as well.

Viviana Converti

I really don't like modern art. It was not a good idea for me to visit it

Adam Landingham

The video by Arthur Jafa is one of the most powerful things I've ever seen.

Roman Korneev

Nothing to look at, just four rooms with a garbage. Maybe couple things not completely horrible. Absolutely disappointed with spent time and money. Don’t take kids here

Anahi Perez

Nice museum a little small in comparison to other museums in Chicago handful of exhibits but interesting to see.

Myles Vinh Farr

Amazing museum, worth the value - students are free and adults are relatively cheap. Art is extremely unique. The featured exhibit, Virgil Abloh, was fantastic. Using a variety of media and forms, his work is multifaceted and relevant.

Terri Washington

Free admission for IL residents on Tuesdays and jazz on the patio during the summer. Interesting exhibits

Hung Chu

Checked out their special exhibition and learn a little about what does contemporary artist tries to do. Experience was just "ok" because: 1 - unless there is an explanation somewhere near the work, I won't be able to make the connection (MCA did a reasonable job here). This makes having a tour guide especially important because they would be able to, at least, offer something that will help a layman like me to make some sense of this type of art. However, the tour guide cancelled for the day. 2 - maybe I am expecting too much, but when compared to other "museum" this museum has the smallest collection that I have visited. It might be more appropriate to call this a gallery instead of museum. But since they defined contemporary as things happened in the last 20 years, it would be difficult for them to cureat 500+ item for display. So, gallery might be better.

Things Better

Love the museum usually love the exhibits. I don't always love the exhibits but it never taints my love of what the space is. I forgive the insufferable money walkathons they sometimes present as "art". Really does Nike need another income stream? In an art museum. Also what do shoot markers have to do with $400 t-shirts. I'm lost....

ron sangthong

Free jazz on the terraces at 5pm every Tuesday in the summer including admissions to the museum too.

Monique Thurman

We enjoyed the artwork at the Museum. We even went on the guided tour which helped us to understand the artwork even more. But it got kind of confusing after we left the group. The building was very big and we ended up wandering into a section that wasn't open. But one of the staff members guided us back to where we needed to be.

Joseph Wallner

love modern expositions .. my fovorite

Humberto Baptista

Great museum! Sound curatorship and temporary exhibits. The architecture is also beautiful, notice the stairway connecting the floors with the Brazilian artpiece from Ernesto Neto integrating it.

Shaley Sogan

great spot to come with friends and get new creative ideas

Wendy Huang

It was interesting but there were a lot of exhibits that were closed or being put up. It ended up being a pretty short trip. Their store had lots of cool things and the jewelry looked nice.

Victor Wang

Absolutely stunning museum of contemporary art that rivals any modern art museum anywhere in the world. As someone who loves art that is forward thinking and challenges the de facto boundaries set by the past, this place meets and far exceeds expectations. Featuring the works of many well-known artists and many more less known artists, a large diversity in pieces from size to medium is incorporated. The exhibition seems small at first glance but to truly appreciate all of the works inside, the space is deceptively large and can take quite some time to explore every work to its fullest extent. Many pieces are quite tall so are housed in the main exhibition space which contains a vaulted ceiling that seemingly goes on forever. It's a lovely space to behold and the free space located on the first floor at the opposite end of the main entrance is truly a beautiful sight to behold. Centrally located with friendly staff and inexpensive entry tickets, come check this place out!

Robert Falls

This place is absolutely amazing.....If you haven't been yet. Make it a priority Great local artist is greatly appreciated bring your young aspiring talent and it will truly give them motivation.

Peter Becerra

Very well designed museum. The staff was very well informed and helpful.

Rebecca Marsh

Your website is awful. Terrible. Embarrassing. Please fix it. You can't even get in contact with the general information email to send a complaint. What are you guys even doing over there.

Annie Salaway

The pieces were about 50-50 on ones that I liked in those that I didn't. Food in the restaurant was good, but a fairly small selection. Overall, I might stop by again but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

John Adams

Very nice museum! Went for free with Bank of America Museums on Us perk and it was a good experience for sure. Wouldn't pay full price of admission though because there were very little exhibits.

Ty Sessums

Enjoyable contemporary art museum. Good half day.

Baixin Ren

Best place to visit ever. If you have only one day in Chicago I strongly recommend to visit here. Many valuable arts pieces from all over the world.

Chanel Thompson

I really enjoyed the Virgil Abloh exhibit. It was amazing. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the staff. The staff is extremely rude and everyone watches you like a hawk, which makes it an uncomfortable experience. I was also very uncomfortable having to wear my back pack on the front of my body pretty much the entire time. They need to find another way because this is pretty annoying. I really felt I would have enjoyed it more if the staff was more customer friendly.

Blak Gal

It was my 1st time ever going. I enjoyed walking through and slowly looking at and reading everything. Very interesting

Chaouechi Maroua

I didn't want to leave, nothing but the stair it is a masterpiece. I had the privilege of seeing the installation of Doris Salcedo, and it was the first time that a motionless piece of art made me cry.

Kianu popokaula

good to come to get new ideas ... specifically for visuals i think

Sara Croft

Interesting museum. Unlike the other galleries or museums, this place is all post WWII. Most of the exhibitions were photography with occasional sculptures and film. The whole thing took about an hour to walk through. They did have one of the best art gift shops of all those in town.

Claudio Mendoza

We are regular visitors to Chicago's MCA. Excellent exhibitions of contemporary art and photography, and at the joint Edlis Neeson Theater, avant-garde plays (Peter Brook's Battlefield), dance (Hubbard Street Dance, Adrienne Truscott), and music (Taylor Mac). Being Venezuelan and a fan of Marisol Escobar's works, I am really honored their restaurant and bar is named after her, although we never have time for a meal there after the involved art feasts of the upper floors.

Mark Connolley

Was expecting more, much, much more We were done in 30 minutes and we did read about all the exhibits

Kalika Mahato

I think this museum is pretty lackluster. There were some really great pieces and others that were pretty boring. The biggest issue is that its so small. They showcase personal and societal struggles in their pieces, and I appreciate the collection. But we got done in about an hour and were left wanting more.

Fonzie Gonz

We really enjoyed this place. My wife normally scoffs at everything art, but even she found something that made her take a step back and think. Truly wonderful place. I particularly enjoyed the photo exhibit.

Connor Hansen

Although its stated that it's home to one of the largest collections of contemporary art in the US, the exhibition space feels pretty limited. The family engagement zone seems to take up an outsize portion of the building. The collections were neat, but felt somewhat sparse. The gift/design store is amazing (and incredibly pricey) though!

Anabel Pachano-Arismendi

It has a really weird art, it has some pretty and interesting things as well as a very friendly environment but you can find things like just a ladder on the floor as part of the art, and a lot of abstract art. The shop is crazy expensive for what it is... Wouldn't recommend it

Dan Gray

Decent museum. There is some provocative art, fyi in case you're bringing kiddos.

Madeline LaBorde

Always something different! I love visiting every time I'm in Chicago.

Erik Underwood

Loves the Virgil Abloh exhibit

Eden Watson

Wonderful! Free to Illinois residents with Drivers license or State ID. The museum incorporates culture and is great for invoking conversation! It’s easily accessible via public transportation; which I highly recommend.
