This place deserves more attention. Historians and scholars interested in Asian arts should give it a try. The second floor is a hidden gem. Full of interesting selections of books (on sale with steep discount) and research library area. Small and slightly dizzily organized (in terms of chronology), but you will find a good array of Han dynasty terracottas and Shang-Zhou bronzes and jades. Their Qing dynasty furniture possessions were also beautiful. They have very elegant collection of Japanese decorative arts, if you get tired of Chinese art (ever). People should also pay attention to their museum shop. It is very different from your regular museum shop where you buy overpriced T-shirts. They are selling old art catalogs published by renowned art dealers, collectors, and academic journals. You will also find unexpectedly great old stamp collections, which are almost mindblowingly cheap, given the quality and rarity of them.

A small and beautifully arranged museum. A cool place to spend an hour and admire Asian history. Well worth the admission price. The description s are just the right length giving interesting detail without discouraging you with a novel of info. Gives you a chance to appreciate the artwork!

What a hidden gem! Small but well-organised. The exhibits, particularly the furniture-related ones, are already well worth the visit. Upstairs at the library we were lucky enough to see the Ojime exhibition which turned out to be fascinating. Don't miss the opportunity to visit when in Chicago, the city does have certain museums that are nothing to write home about but this is certainly not one of them!

Absolutely stunning. Not a lot but enough to learn. history of China date from as early as 1250 BC, from the Shang dynasty (c. 1600–1046 BC) to China's last dynasty was the Qing (1644–1912) Southeast Asia arts, books and gifts on second floor. Admission $8 Limit street parking.

I was here for the first time, recently, as it served as a venue for one of the Film's shown by the Asian Pop-up Cinema. The Museum, located at the South end of Chinatown, features all different types of artworks from Asia & India, from ancient Scrolls, to Ceramics, Statuary & the like. There's a reasonable admission charge & a special admission charge for Seniors, Students & Groups. Featuring 2 full floors of exhibits, it's well worth a visit, especially if you'd like to dine in one of Chinatown's many Restaurants or shop at a Chinese Grocery shop.

Beautiful arts and rich in history. I had fun here.

So far my overall experience here was a great experience very clean, very quiet very serene, and the artifacts are wonderful to view. There is two floors and or course elevator. A diamond in the rough and not enough Advertisement. So I give it 4stars why 4stars because of parking and that’s pretty much it. But my experience here wonderful. I am looking forward to other exhibition’s here in the near future.

The museum is small but growing. The exhibitions, mostly from loans and donations, are top notched. There is a gift shop and a research library on the second floor. The art books being sold in the gift shop are at a steep discount.

Museums such as the Art Institute and the Field are great, but museums such as the Heritage Museum of Asian art are amazing little surprises. The Heritage Musem of Asian art sits between Bridgeport and Chinatown near an underpass. I would say don't judge a book by it's cover, but even the building has some impressiveness to it with two large doors. Inside you can find very welcoming staff and many artifacts, some which date as far back as the neolithic. There is a nice little gift shop on the second floor too. Overall, I enjoyed my visit to this little museum and would definitely recommend it to famy and friends.

One of the best museums in Chicago! Very fine collection, beautiful artifacts and interesting stories behind every antique! Really love the canopy bed, the wooden chairs, the jade jewleries and the budda! The second floor houses some very impressive items such as the ivory puzzle balls and chains too! The shop on the second floor is one of the greatest in the USA! Jeff and George are amazing people that run the museum and are very knowlegeble of Asian History, culture and art! Have been taking my Chinatown tour guests there for many months and everyone loves this place! Definitely worth a visit! You will like it too!
