Free admission, very informative. A little small. Bonus: free bathroom, which seems to be hard to come by when walking around town.

The courthouse is between the wharf and the huge banyan tree. The museum is upstairs. (There is an art gallery on main floor.) The history of Hawai'i is well told including some information on how the sugar plantation owners had themselves installed as a provisional government, which led to the annexation of the islands to the US. Lots of small interesting displays on whaling & local agriculture, plus on the monarchy and native customs. Also a model of the island of Maui and interesting environmental exhibits from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Free, open til 5 PM. Difficult to find parking except in paid lots nearby.

Loved this free museum (you can donate if you want). It’s just enough to satisfy a history geek and small enough for someone who doesn’t really care much about history. Learned lots about the history in Maui.

A great local museum. Went through the whole museum with 4 kids in an hour and a half and saw everything. Free and friendly! Parent involvement is helpful though.

I love the history of the Lahaina but I don't like the chinese vendors everywhere that tells that the products in the stores are from China. So look for store that the products are made in local and the sales person are local.
