REVIEWS OF Wormsloe Historic Site IN Georgia

Christina Camillo

Since it was a vacation break, there were many people visiting... but the grounds are quite amazing. The mile(+) long entrance road is amazing. The trails in the park cover a lot of ground - all scenic. There are times when actors demonstrate different aspects of life during the Wormsloe era... but we weren't there then. If you come across a box with a turn crank, take the time to turn and listen! We lucked out with the weather and bugs!

Connie Woods

Beautiful but hard to get awesome photos because of opening and closing timed

Charlene Bovio

We chose Wormsloe because they are pet friendly. We took water bottles but because of heat went through them on long hike. They had no cold bottled water. We would have stayed longer had we not had to leave to purchase water at the closest gas station. Sell cold water and you could increase profits.

Nick Sischo

Great historic location with lots of history and information about it. Good if you want to explore 300 year old ruins on a narrow hiking trail.

Craig Shaffer

Wonderful place to see very historic site, with tabby ruins. Guides are very interested in your questions and introducing you to old building techniques. Especially in an area that has as many historic sites as Savannah

Brittney Finn

The entrance was gorgeous. That was about it. The tour was extremely long winded and the historical sites were really limited, basically just the ruins of a house and a reconstruction or two of other houses. Would be worth it if it were free, but not worth the price we paid.

Tina Gioco

This historic site is wonderful. I am handicapped and they provided a private golf cart tour. With a costumed guide Susan.

M. Kimberly Sende

1. Go in the morning before the bugs are really awake. 2. Wear comfortable shoes. It’s a mile from the main gate to the visitor center and even more walking to see the ruins, etc. 3. Plan to spend an hour here. It’s a gorgeous historic site, like stepping back in time. 4. If you use the crank machine, you have to keep turning it to keep it going!

Nick Fortenberry

A lot of history to behold here. Due to the age of some of the structures, they have been recreated or there's just a foundation with remnants left. Highly recommended for walkers and history buffs! $10 per person is the admission cost.

Margaret Warner

A lovely drive into the park & a great place to wslk.

Barb Kiper

Absolutely the most beautiful awesome place I've ever been...I love trees!

Doug Todd

Another of Georgia's State historic sites. Well-maintained, well-managed and providing abundant education, information, and experience. There are several other sites nearby that need to be visited, altogether providing at least a week's worth of wonderful lifetime experiences.

Evan Scully

I would suggest getting off at the entrance and walking the 1.1 mile to the visitor centre instead of driving the whole way down. The trees are similar to the Dark Hedges in Northern Ireland (the road in Game of Thrones). It’s $10 dollars to enter which helps the upkeep of the plantation. No food, but there is a vending machine for drinks down at the visitor centre.

Scott Denham

This was by far the most beautiful thing I've seen in my life. Such a quiet and serene place. Watch out for alligators!! Incredible for photography. So, bring your SLR if you have one.

Trevor Cline

After paying at the gate, you drive into some trees. There is no "oldest standing house" (it's on private property and you cannot see it) the worker (tour guide?) inside didn't acknowledge we existed. It's paying to see trees that, while cool, you can see for free throughout Savannah. There is an old almost gone old wall and coffin tomb.

Jesse Shapiro

It's weird So there is some cool things but nothing is really there outside the museum I figured they would have had the original property in place and on the property rebuilds of historical value to show size way of life ECT and it's not for this to be a state park and money ran it should have more than a dirt road some trails and a museum for 10$ a person....but alot of the things in this area to include Savannah are over priced to get to see bare minimum.....best way of life I've done and recommend is Salem Massachusetts along with Plymouth Rock.

Machou T.

It is an historic site and all the pictures are online. It felt like Deja Vu.

Lauren Miller

Beautiful place to see the tunnel of trees, but the hiking isn't that interesting. We would of been fine taking our picture in the tunnel and heading out.

Cary Walker

Good place to visit and learn a few things.

Baluchitherium Neidkowski

Beautiful site. Wish the rangers would cleanup the brush instead if piling them in the woods. You already have them in your hands.

Theresa Keppel

Excellent tour guide, informative short movie and friendly volunteers and staff.

Amanda Norton

Beautifully preserved spot in Savannah which was top of my list for must-sees while visiting in New York! It looks like something right out of a movie and I highly recommend checking it out!

Rick DuBois

Beautiful entry of a mile-plus of canopied Spanish-moss oaks!

Ceeni

Beautiful place! If you have an hour or two, stop by and take a walk.

Michelle Staggers

OMG. Loved every minute. This is what I came to GA for. Beautiful. Get there early before everyone else if you want great pictures.

Jessy Stobart

This is the greediest place in Savannah. They won’t even let you take a picture without paying for a $50 tour. The security guard was incredibly condescending when we just asked to take one photo. We were heading out of town so we didn’t have time to take the tour so all we did was drive here for nothing and to be disrespected. I never leave reviews but I want people to know so they don’t waste their time driving here to be rudely turned away.

Li lo

A lot of walking so put on comfortable shoes. Don't forget bug spray you will get are up.

Emma Luttrell

I didn't see a much as I wanted so I will definitely go back. So beautiful. It evoked a deep feeling of reverence in me. The trees and foliage were so lush. Exploring the history there was a treat. Gate price $10.

Omar Perez

The nature is beautiful here I’ll give it that. But other than that this place did not have much more to offer. We did not get to do a tour but I highly doubt that would have helped. There wasn’t much to see. The main house is almost fully destroyed and there is no one buried at the tomb so its just there for looks. I felt so bad for this lady sitting next to a fire for the colonial times display they had, it was almost 100 degrees outside and she was in uniform next to a fire I almost shed a tear for her. Lol In my opinion I think you should just take the iconic picture of the oak trees right at the beginning of the plantation and then just head to your next destination, save your time and money.

Amy & Zach Winkler

What an incredible treasure!! The driveway alone beneath the canopy of the remarkable trees is breathtaking. The staff at the visitors center was cheerful, friendly & helpful- to top it off, they are super dog friendly (just keep them on leash). The trails were even more than we anticipated. We were happy to pay the $10/person entrance fee to spend the day in such a lovely place.

Kate

Wow! The live oak trees are definitely worth seeing and taking photos. The limbs naturally gravitate towards the driveway. You could also get a tour of Noble Jones plantation included with the admission price.

Munaf Hirkani

It's a charming place to visit

Tad Howard

It's beautiful! What a great place for photography. The depth and layers make for interesting photos. At one time silkworm farming was tried on this plantation.

Tree Hill

A beautiful walk! We enjoyed seeing the ruins and observation deck. Wish they would add the distance to the orange mile markers, to keep track of your walk back to visitor center.

Mike Segura

Wonderful place, be sure to watch the 13 minute video to learn the history of the place before going onto the museum. The rows live oaks is breathtaking! Worth the time and low cost.

32tigergirl

I loved the avenue of oaks here. I just wish that the home was still standing.

Kathy Stout

$10/person. Beautiful entrance and long live oak lined drive. Needs to be preserved for its historical importance, but unless you are just interested in a lovely walk in the woods, not much to see. Good video on Noble Jones' contributions to the founding of Savannah and Georgia.

Brandon W

Worth a visit but dont stick around for reenactments

Ryan Day

Wormsloe Historic Site is breathtaking to this day! Wonderful place for a family or wedding photo! Great place for trips of all kinds. A must stop Savannah destination, or trip through the South!

Lyndi Stoddard

Absolutely beautiful!! Honestly, my favorite part was the first road down. It was so enchanting! Definitely worth the stop. We walked through the gift shop and the few historic landmarks in the back of the property. It was a great break on our trip.

Samuel Crockett

There is a lot of history here and a lot of walking. Be prepared for a lot of walking on your self guided tour. There is a gift shop and restrooms.

Jon Beasley

For me the highlight was the beauty of the salt marsh and an hour long walk through the palmetto woods. Wormsloe itself is pretty much a non-event. The Visitor Center is also kind of sad, but over 400 ancient oaks hung with Spanish Moss along the 1.6 mile long driveway are impressive.

M Anon

Would not honor my Annual State Park and Historic Site pass even though it clearly states 10% off admission. $10 per person for admission. Not much to see here but nice walking trails.

indrewder T

Great nature trail, cool history. Bring water.

Kristin James

Beautiful place. The trails are easy and flat. Perfect place for kids. I was expecting more structures but I didn't really know anything about the place before arriving. Learned some interesting history. If we lived in Savannah this would be a place I would take my kids to more often so we could run around.

Duane Swaving

There is a lot of history on this property along with a lot of beautiful trees. The drive in is beautiful, even in February when no plants where in bloom. We enjoyed touring this site and learning more about the history here and more of Savannah history.

Nehal Omar

Beautiful place and very nicely maintained Oak trees. Although, entry fee (maintenance fee) for the place was higher(10$ per person) . But if you are not into museum and history then you can just drive to the parking lot for free and enjoy these beautiful trees only. Indeed, one of the best place in Savannah and must go place if you are here.

Rajeev Saxena

Great place to visit with the kids. Take the guided tour. Its worth it.

Laura Mastin

Our tour guide was awesome! Very entertaining and informative. The foundation itself was amazing. Beautiful, educational, and absolutely worth seeing again.

Lana Williams

Enjoyed this beautiful location that I've never visited before even though I have been to Savannah many times.

Lincoln Magnus Pompay

Tranquility and Amazement had a very nice time walking in peace Gathering thoughts.

Trevor Powhida

Nice to see the history of the site. The entrance with the live oaks makes for a great photo. A lot of the original structures are no longer there (due to age) so you are required to use your imagination to recreate the experience.

Ali D

Absolute beautiful. Great photo opportunities. But we spent $2.09 less to feed three people at Carey Hillard’s. $32.10 for an hour of exploring the site was a little steep but glad it’s going to keep this great place preserved.

Betsy Hoisington

Entrance fee is $10 which includes a walking tour of the history of the property. Our guide was knowledgeable and able to answer questions (Crystal). The trees and learning the family history are worth it in my opinion. Would be helpful to learn more about the indigenous native peoples that owned the land before colonists invaded.

Joshua St. John

The trees and are beautiful. Other than that the whole experience felt a little bit like a rip off.

Yasmin Alzayer

Best place to take photos in Savannah. Perfect for wedding pictures, pregnant announcements

Matt Faller

Came for the beautiful tree lined driveway, stayed for the tour and was very impressed! Bo was an absolutely wonderful tour guide, very knowledgeable and funny. If you go - take the tour with Bo!

Neta Neta

These trees are very majestic and powerful! Incredible place!

Carol Reeves

Beautiful, very interesting and totally worth the $10 we paid to see some of Georgia's history. For anyone who says differently OPEN your eyes next time.

Debbie Sewell

An absolutely beautiful and historic visit. The people in time period clothing playing the roles make it fun. I would suggest bringing the bug spray!

Ally Lemasters

So beautiful, and the tour guide was very informational and entertaining.

Christopher Steele

Long drive through the 400 planted live oak trees was beautiful. Interesting history here. Definitely go see the driveway at least.

Christopher Oden

It was a cool area to drive through but the traffic down the center of the drive makes it difficult to get a photo opportunity without someone's car in the way.

Sarah Lamb

Beautiful but I’m not sure it’s worth $10 a person.

Brian Dale

It's a walking experience, but so amazing

Rebekah Davis

Beautiful, historical site! Wear your sneakers and walk around the trails for a look at GA's natural beauty!

John Gross

Very picturesque old site with picnic areas, walking, neat history center and decent preserved spaces. The driveway alone is worth the trip but the rest of the grounds are also great. Be prepared to walk if you do want to see the entire area, but even if you aren’t able to leave a vehicle, you’ll still have great views.

Jordan Johns

This was a really great side trip. The sites weren't as preserved and well kept as you would expect but still worth the visit. There was very little information about the slaves that lived there and the property that the family descendants still occupy, so more of that would've been nice.

Y B

It's a beautiful place with beautiful Live oak trees and it's big enough to walk around in. There are some historic sites and a mini museum. We had a wonderful time here.

Lee Giella

Great little park in the Savannah, GA area. Well worth a stop.

Geoffrey Devino

This is a very interesting place to see when you come to Savannah. It's not too far from town and a great piece of history.

Terry Bailey

Loved it! I was so happy to finally get the chance to visit the beautiful Oak Avenue!

Ryan Miller

It was good. Not super entertaining. Had some good information and facts. Tour guide did a good job. Worth the money, didn't cost much.

Sherrie Smith

Oh, the beauty of the road into the estate. The overhanging trees made for a spectacular backdrop. The grounds are delightful, and the history interesting. We got some helpful info at the visitor’s center and was able to follow the trails with the signs provided. The ruins aren’t much to see, but go for the scenery.

Gary Beverly

Wonderful place for pictures. Be prepared it does get muddy on the road.

James Lloyd

Amazing live oak drive and very educational.

Scott Flynn

Run Forest, run! Beautiful. Great for pics.

Brian Foster

The avenue is super picturesque. The hike around the property is really not worth your time. Be patient and take lots of pictures on the main avenue after cars pass. Then drive on past the visitors center and continue onward.

Heidi Benson

Awwwww, the history. Beautiful scenery. The story telling was fabulous. I would have like a little more of the African experience and a deeper understanding of the unpopular perspective. I love the area. This plantation (still a working one) is amazing. The tractor tour is GREAT!

Jennifer Hatt

Beautiful drive here for pictures! We did not visit the site but plan to when we return to the area. The entrance alone was worth viewing.

Apoorv Gogar

One of the most picturesque sites that I have been. True to its description, it is historic, beautiful, and scary (especially, after it gets dark). Definitely worth a halt, for a few pictures at least, if you are visiting Savannah.

Kendra Grogg

We didn’t actually go in past the entrance, but we were so blown away by these beautiful trees! They were absolutely breathtaking. I would definitely recommend stopping here if you’re in the Savannah area!

Nekole Lozano

We came to visit Wormsloe on a recent trip to Savannah. We got to the site about 30 minutes before they were scheduled to close unfortunately. The staff was so helpful they showed us around very quickly and even let us stay a little late to finish up. Noah in particular was very helpful and informative! We definitely recommend this place.

Heather McKenzie

This place is beautiful, but I would suggest just standing at the gate and take pictures. It is not worth the 10 per person to drive down to visitors center and ruind

Kristi Holmes

We came to visit Wormsloe on a recent trip to Savannah. We got to the site about 30 minutes before they were scheduled to close unfortunately. The staff was so helpful they showed us around very quickly and even let us stay a little late to finish up. Noah in particular was very helpful and informative! We definitely recommend this place.

Jerry H

Absolutely beautiful place to visit. Wear comfortable shoes that are good to walk in.

Lisa Weatherford

Really beautiful old live oaks, bet it was something to behold back in its prime

Sonnie Mellott

Sunday Oct 6, very nice entrance with live oak trees lining a long dirt road. Cost about $10 per adult to ride down the road and visit the different attractions. Includes a museum, a 300 yard hike down to some ruins, a grave site, a overlook and a colonial Life area. There are a few trail's including a 3 mile battery trail. There is a soda machine at the museum which accepts credit cards. Over all a nice visit. I would have given it 5 stars but there is limited parking and only 1 ruin. Get there early to avoid waiting for a parking spot.

theproverbialcup

Such a charming place, and full of history. Great bookstore

Ichigo Ryu

It's a great place to visit

Renée Parker

Very nice for a stroll through history and some nice pics.

Jonathan Snyder

Made a quick trip here to shoot some engagement photos. Really awesome place! We will be back to explore on our own.

sakshi kukreja

Its a stunning place to visit. We came to see it from savannah. A very photogenic spot. You would see a cream colored gate entrance. Sometimes gps takes you to another location so just be sure to double check the address and add the correct thing in google maps. A must visit place! Cars can go all the way in, we just stopped at the entrance and took pictures.

Chris Schneider

The start of Wormsloe is easily the best part, with the arched trees making a picture perfect scenery. Sadly the rest of the site didn't live up the great start. The trials were small and did not really seem taken care of, and the few stops along the way lacked sufficient information to really be informative. Plus the fact that you couldn't see the Forrest Gump house was sort of a bummer. This is something worth visiting for sure, but i am not sure how worth it is to do anything other than stand at the entrance taking pictures.

shon james

Beautiful!! They shouldn't charge people to take pictures of the trees. A little ridiculous

John Endres

We had just missed the guided tour but was able to catch up! Very cool place! Staff is knowledgeable!

Isabel Green

I loved walking around here. You can make a quick trip to see the key points or stretch it out by doing one of the longer trails. The mile long entry with the oak tree and Spanish moss was beautiful. I loved standing at the marsh overlook and hearing the sounds of the marsh. The main house is still owned by the family and being used. It's the 8th generation living there! The history of the plantation was fascinating. Walking around you could almost feel like you stepped back in time. I can definitely say, I would not have made it during that time period with the brutal humidity and heat! Glad we visited this month before it was super hot.

Tine E

You can't go into the house it's closed off because it's occupied by family so all you get this sea is the grounds and learn about oak trees not worth it unless you only want to see the trees which are beautiful but you could take pictures for free and do that.

Patricia Winters

The mile and half of live oaks was breathtaking!

Emily Leanne

My Fiancee and I loved this plantation. We got there just in time to do the tour. The girl we had ( Amanda I think). Was great! She was very informative. Answered all our questions. Def worth the stop if you are traveling through.

Robert Kuhn

Very cool place. Drive down the 1 mile plus entrance to the historic plantation of Noble Jones. It's the same tree lined entrance used in Forrest Gump. Nice short walk with ruins of the original Jones house.

Jason Gant

Scenic oak-tunneled roadway leads to a colonial-era homestead. Great hiking trails!

Rebekah Milford

Beautiful

Adam Ant

THe long drive through the Oak trees was worth admission but the village and other sites really set it off. Very informative and rich with history. bring some OFF if visiting during the summer.

Lorie Morris

We came to visit Wormsloe on a recent trip to Savannah. We got to the site about 30 minutes before they were scheduled to close unfortunately. The staff was so helpful they showed us around very quickly and even let us stay a little late to finish up. Noah in particular was very helpful and informative! We definitely recommend this place.

Emily Collins

Very informative. I opted out of the guided tour and still learned a lot on the way. Wear good enclosed walking shoes as there as wildlife around.

Miles Webb

A must ! Beautiful place awesome pictures and history

Shelley Hickman

So beautiful! Completely worth the time and money! Can you even say you've been to Savannah without seeing this? I don't think so!

Cindy Gordon

A beautiful glimpse back in time ! The old ruins , Gravesite and the beautiful lane lined with oak trees !

Casey Melissa

The drive to the parking lot is the best part. We went with the expectation we were going to tour a plantation but it was really just a scenic walk. Its a beautiful scenic walk for sure but there is not much to see there after the beautiful driveway and some ruins. But otherwise its mostly just a walk through trees and a look out to a marsh.

Erin West

The Oaktree lined mile and one-half street is nothing short of amazing beautiful. It is peaceful and lovely. The history of this area and the family connected to it is very interesting. There remains the ruins of the original wall placed to help protect the family and other occupants from others. The young lady guiding the tour was very knowledgeable, interesting and engaging. I however did not understand why the tour guide would ride in a golf cart while the paying participants were walking. I do understand the tour guides are required to go out several times a day and therefore would need to ride but also believe it would be much better if the tour provide transport for all. The guide and her information could not always be heard by all because of the distance between the moving golf cart and the walking participants. She also was unaware of the fact that the walking participants were not always able to keep up with her departing cart.

Kathleen Conrad

Only took 2 pics. It rained so will have to go back another time!

Talal Zraik

Worsloe Historic Site south of Savanna dates back to the 18th century. There are now only ruins of the house that was inhabited between 1740 and 1820. There is a small museum if the site in new modern building. The trees lining the long unpaved entrance road were planted in 1890. There are beautiful trails in the site, Battery Trail is a loop almost 3 Miles long. There is adequate parking inside. Entrance fee is $10 for adult, $9 for seniors. It is certainly worth visiting if in Savannah. It is less than 10 Miles south of historic downtown.

Michelle Saylor

Get a guided tour. Very informative

Sterling Silver

This is a beautiful and peaceful place. If you are ever in the area I had to recommend stopping by. There is no cost for entry.

Michele Petersen

I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because especially in 100° weather and after a 1.5 mile walk, the soda machine was empty at the visitors center and only a few bottles available, most not refrigerated, inside the gift shop. Besides that, the walk was beyond the ability to describe just how beautiful! It felt like being in an enchanted forest in a way and taking a step back into time. The museum inside the gift shop was a nice little surprise. Very informative! I didn't realize until we were back in NC and I was reading reviews, that there was a $10.00 entry fee. The way we parked and walked up, along with the people walking and cars driving by, bypassed the sign and I guess we were so entranced by looking up, that we missed it. They should put that sign up in a couple of places because I was embarrassed when I got home and realized we didn't see that. One of if not my favorite place I've visited to date. But I love looking up at the trees! ;)

Ashleigh You know if you know

The guide took my family on a personal tour via golf cart due to my grandmother not being so mobile. He was extremely nice and knowledgeable about the area. The historical sight is beautiful. I wanted to get married just in order to take wedding photos.

Gavendra Shah

Lovely place. Very serene. Good scenery and woods.

Travis Adkins

I love this place. it's a must see spot if your travel to Savannah Georgia. it is just BEAUTIFUL.

Michael Pease

The oak lane is spectacular and a must see. Cost was $10 per adult plus tax. Definitely go in the tour or the ruins and adjoining area aren’t the most memorable. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly and made the experience great. Know that is is just remains of a structure not an actual house as we were expecting.

Arthur Jameson

Very gorgeous historic site. The mile long row of trees is quite spectacular - a site to behold!

Stephanie Small, Ed.D.

The history behind the site is compelling. The trees are beautiful.

Kathy Shields

Dedicated to the preservation of Georgia's Colonial days, the staff are embody the hardworking values of the original colonists. They each take social care to convey the time and place and how Georgia was formed in period costumes. Beautiful live oaks, peaceful marshland trails and most important, they are dog friendly! Take your dog into the visitors' center for a special treat and to the water bowl near the restrooms after a hike on a hot day. It's in my neighborhood so I visit frequently, you should too. Incidentally they will be offering kayak tours soon.

Mary Lynn Tobiasz

Great historic site to visit. Nice self guided tour.

Pablo Plindo

Great place! Bring your bug spray

Eric Hale

Very cool place to visit if you love history.

Angel Chandler

The drive in under the live oaks and Spanish moss is with the trip out. We had a great tour guide. It was a very interesting and beautiful site.

Ephraim Saravia

The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and provided a good experience.

Kholl Holl

Beautiful, peaceful and informative tour guide Randy!

Holly Ditzler

One of best maintained landmarks I've ever seen. Great walking trails and amazing photo opportunities. Some trails are too rugged for wheel chairs but the main trail (wheel chair accessible) is wide and visits all of the points of interest. A nice gift shop and a well organized Museum. The beauty is breathtaking. Wear tennis shoes for walking trails, bring a water bottle, camera and bug repellent as the points of interest run adjacent to a marsh. Watch for the small crabs that crawl on the trees next to the bridges.

MaryAnn Halstead

Fun to walk the trails but was disappointed that on a Saturday there were no live reinactors. Easy to follow trail signs and guided tours made the experience better, but be prepared to do a considerable amount of walking. One of the best things is that this attraction is very pet friendly.

Andrew Blumhardt

This was a picturesque place. The pictures do not do it justice if you are in the area stop in and see these trees for yourself. They all seem to have grown so perfectly. It's a pretty long drive, but just stopping by the first part is enough

Jessica Stobart

This is the greediest place in Savannah. They won’t even let you take a picture without paying for a $50 tour. The security guard was incredibly condescending when we just asked to take one photo. We were heading out of town so we didn’t have time to take the tour so all we did was drive here for nothing and to be disrespected. I never leave reviews but I want people to know so they don’t waste their time driving here to be rudely turned away.

Tonja Muret

Beautiful is not enough to even describe this!

amy raudenbush

Very beautiful and I really enjoyed walking on the trails!

Michael Barreca

The drive in is the best part if your enamored by these oaks and Spanish miss like us. But theres is history to learn here as well as great visual stimulation

Jessica Malcolm

Go here and wander the property for hours. Wear closed toed shoes, its very dusty. Take time to watch the little crabs dance on the very back of the property.

Jason Tussing

If you're interested in the founding of Savannah you must start here. Gates open at 9:00 AM and it's worth it to be the first in line. It allows for some amazing pictures without a crowd of people in the background. Pay at the cottage immediately through the gate then enjoy the drive down the tree lined driveway.
