A must see. Wow
Great place for events..wonderful customer service.
This was a very educational place to visit. I came here with my husband and 2 of our 5 Kid (boys 9 & 13). I enjoyed that it was self guided and we were able to look around on our own. It was informative and had exhibits that explored local history, music, art and culture. My older son struggled with some of the images and exhibits but i explained it was part of his history and that it was ok to be upset but it is important for him to be informed. I liked the walk through history exhibit and the 1000 Miles to Freedom movie. I do wish there was more to look at but they are working on a few things to add to the museum. I can't wait to revisit it.
Informative place nice history learned a few things
It's an upgrade from the older place, lots of space and lighting, definitely showcasing the talents of African Americans in the south, also of the entire American culture. The contributions are of the African Americans contributions to freedom of slaves and art relating to that effort. It's a great place for wheelchairs, scooter chairs, as corridors are widely spaced and can cater for these modes of transport. They also cater to school tours.
Great venue for the promotions of local art and social events that support local business and community.
Loved the experience and plenty of history. I recommend this wonderful facility to everyone to visit
You need to visit the Tubman! Put this on your bucket list. I am so glad that I went.
I recommend anyone and wveryone to attend an event here as well as take a tour of the entire Museum. It's a warm and friendly place as well as well educated tourists and staff when it comes to questions being answered. I thoroughly enjoy each experience everythime I come for various events and occasions. Thank you very much for welcoming myself and my entire family into this beautiful place of much needed History.
Best African American Museum/Cultural Center in the South!
An American history museum named in honor of Harriet Tubman. While an alcove is dedicated to Harriet Tubman, the body of the museum features the contributions and sacrifices of people of color from the Macon area. I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing this museum, and I left feeling inspired.
For a building that big and an admission price of $10, there is very little to see. The main focus is on wall art with a secondary emphasis on actual exhibits. I'm disappointed that there are not any interactive exhibits and there is a complete lack of regional African crafts, folklore, religion, or customs. I was hoping for an enriching learning experience.
A great museum with interesting African and African-American artifacts, memorabilia, and music industry icons.
Great museum. Staff was very nice.
Great place to learn about the African heritage and people in the community that you didn't know had an impact
Great experience to learn about Harriet Tubman
Nice facility!
My school had a great time
Great event really enjoyed ourselves and got to meet some radio personalies
Great place to learn about Black history and culture.
I love this museum!
We loved this museum. It was great. And it has a beautiful gift shop inside. And it is across the street from The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
Not exactly what I expected, but our guide was awesome. We learned alot we didn't know previously. Wish the section on Harriet Tubman had more about the Underground Railroad.
I visited about seven months ago so things may have slightly changed, but it was similar to other museums I've been to before. I enjoyed the guided tour and I was impressed by the guides vast knowledge relation to the museum itself.
Historical displays and new African American art.
Customer service needs a little work but other than that very educational
Lot of reading. Wonderful!! Not recommend for young kids if they have short attention span. Love the information about each piece in the museum.
Great history.
I'm in love with the 'Mr. Imagine' collection. This museum has an open, modern feel, and you can truly appreciate each piece of art. Exhibition space is nicely arranged, also easy to see & read. A must-see for out-of-towners AND local peeps. And yes, it's the Tubman museum, but it's a great stop for people of all races--you will not be disappointed. FYI, free parking on either side of the museum.
Interesting and learned more about Tubman
I was their for a townhall meeting. Very spacious beautiful and informative meeting. Parking free.
A must for all,a very beautiful and educational experience.
The exhibits are simultaneously beautiful and harrowing. The accumulated history within those walls; breathtaking. Our family has become members.
A very inspiring and special place to visit.
Very exciting and a great source of local history
One of my favorites with my daughter. Martin Luther King day is always special.
Worth a visit..lots of information
Exhorts well worth the visit.
A well done museum. I recommend it to anyone interested in the history of the United States. The museum’s focus is black history which all Americans need to work to gain an accurate understanding of this marginalized group of Americans citizens.
I've lived in this area most of my life, but I learned so much more about the people I have known who are featured in this museum. It's a wonderful place to share with family, friends, and coworkers. You may even find stories of your ancestors here.
This is a great wedding venue. I DJED here and I was happy. DJ Glass Dee.
Well planned and informative museum. Loved the wall with the quilts with history.
It's a great place learn about black history and whites who help made it happened
Great place to take the kids
It's awesome! More things should be added tho.
The Tubman Museum is an excellent place for a family outing and an excellent source for Cultural Events and History. I'll definitely be getting a Family membership beginning in 2019'. My son Loved the experience and so did I!

Awesome great history lesson
well worth becoming a member
This place does not honor the membership cards of the Macon Museum of Arts and Science. I was a little disappointed about that.
A great piece of history right here.
I have not been there!
Great place to discover local history, black history and America's here. Great place for all races! I was impressed to see some white couples there. Nothing but love for all.
Beautiful Museum. Definitely will return again.
An amazing experience, I was afraid it would be quite small but I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of exhibits. They also had a sections dedicated to Otis Redding and major African American inventors/patents. Overall a great experience for young and old!
Must visit if you're in the area
Great place to learn about black history and it's a great place to bring kids on for field trips for learning

Great place to go
This is a must-see for families, quiet time, and cultural experiences AND true gem of Macon-Bibb and the nation!
Very moving and a sad reminder of where our country has come from when you read the tiles. Very uplifting on the top level
Very nice. Informative
I dunno. All I know is that lee Everett from the walking dead game was born in this town and was a history professor. R.I.P. Lee Everett died age 37.
This is a fairly new facility. There is many souvenirs to choose from in the gift shop.
Very educational! Very interesting! Loved it!
Love history!
Educational
It was so much fun and Education!!
I love the museum!!! I can not wait to go again!
Beautiful place filled with great history!
The museum has a wealth of information for all ages! Greatly needed! Blessings
Great place
We had a great time at the Museum. It was a great Wedding that we where invited to. In addition, it was a great historical lesson learned.
State of the art design, the building is eye catching and draws the attention it deserves.
Life changing experience.
A modern museum with great exhibits of local black history and art. The staff are knowledgeable and passionate. Definitely worth visiting on your way through Macon.
A lot of history within a building
Enjoyed my visit. Smaller but spacious museum with a variety of history and art work. Price very reasonable. Glad we went.
Educational, Affordable, Well worth the time....
Great info and service. The only negative for me was that it was a self-guided tour and I would have loved to have a tour guide to get the extra info instead of reading everything. You need at least two hours to read all the info on both floors, but over all it is a great experience.
It was great. Very informative & emotional. Seeing our history through the eyes of the people who lived it, jst seeing what they went through & how far we've come. All in all a very revealing & thought provoking experience. Thank you Harriet Tubman!!
Didn't enjoy museum, unable to take photos of anything other than Harriet Tubman. Other exhibits were off limits
Learn a little about the history of African American figures, struggle and hopes.
The Tubman Museum is well worth a visit. I was lucky enough to meet the Founder the day I visited. the place is absolutely spotless. The exhibit on the first floor was incredibly moving and put a lot of things in perspective for me. The Harriet Tubman and Otis Redding exhibits upstairs were well done and informative. You only need about one hour to see the museum and really appreciate the exhibits. So happy I made the time.
Historically accurate, well designed and beautiful.
It a really nice facility
Great learning experience for the family. Great staff and location. Very clean and orderly. Can have guided tour.
So full of history. Defintaly a must stop for all .
I enjoyed the museum, friendly staff so much formation and not enough time when I go back to Macon, I will visit again.
Good selection of artwork and inventions. Good place for children
Was there for a wedding. Really nice and very interesting.
Very nice museum.
Very small exhibit about Hariette Tubman. The museum is more about a local photographer. Not impressed.
Very educational
My first visit wonderful place to learn African American history. Loved it so much became a member.
All of the artwork was fabulous.
I enjoyed my visit to the museum because of the friendly as well as helpful service. The artwork was fabulous and the collection pieces from various people in history was great. My nieces were able to get a glimpse of history up close and personal.
Awesome! A must see!
What an awesome exhibit for a great price! Beautiful artwork and detailed histories about African Americans.
Great place for any age interested in African American art and history. Fantastic for groups. I highly recommend.
I was very inspired by the information received while visiting. We took a group of young men to the museum and they enjoyed it immensely.

A Great to visit
First time here. All the exhibits weren’t even up and my family and I thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely return!
Beautiful museum full of beautiful stories and images, highly recommended for anyone passing through Macon.
Lovely spacious place. Security was on point. Had more than enough room.
First, I thought this was a museum about plumbing, no kidding. I already knew about the Christian Republican, Harriet Tubman, via Wikipedia. Save $10 (2018 ticket price) and have a nice lunch while you read all about her on the internet.
Very convenient
Place is very extravagant. A great venue for Weddings, Coporate events and Ballroom style Venues.
Macon Thriller was awesome!
Great information and exhibits
I took a group of students and they were amazed of our Black History. Loved it.
Quite interesting.
Incredible kind and knowledgeable curators. Thank you Ms Ivy for sharing with us today you exemplified southern hospitality.
A good mix of African American history & art, as well as a knowledgeable tour guide
Great info
Great visit. Very informative.
First time there my son was in their Art competition and won 1st.place I was so Proud of him a BEAUTIFUL Day at a BEAUTIFUL Place...
It Was A Very Great Place To Learn Your History
Really nice and friendly staff
The worst excuse for a 'museum' that I've ever seen.
This place is awesome and very much an eye-opening experience. I'm very glad we were able to see it.
My 5 year old daughter and I visited this museum while I was in Macon for business. I was afraid that the museum wouldn't be too exciting for her and that she would quickly lose interest. I took her anyway because I thought it would be a good way to introduce her to some historical figures and African American culture. The museum was not a disappointment! We both had a great time. In fact I believe she enjoyed the exhibition more than I did. Also to be noted was how polite, helpful, and informative the staff members were. I would definitely recommend the museum. It's inexpensive and AAA members receive admission at a discounted rate.
Black. History
Why do I have to pay to see my history?
Great museum
Great museum. It is 3 years old at it's new location but you can tell they are adding more and for what they have os amazing. The history of men and women currently in the city, who came before them, and the african american history outside of the city of Macon, Ga they put together is superb. Def go see.
The museum was beautiful. It was actually my first time there. I was the bartender for a birthday party held there.
With a museum this large, there is so much to discover and learn. I love how it is a history and art museum. The changing exhibits are always interesting. Location is downtown, near other tourist spots. This museum is a hidden gem. Bring your kids on second Saturdays for family events!
Nice program with positive results
impressive museum....go see it!
Every one needs to go. This is important American history.
Wow everyone needs to visit once
Amazing! WORTH a visit!
