I love this place

I went for the Saturday storytelling and house tour, and was delighted far beyond my expectations. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and unhurried. The storyteller was jawdroppingly good. The tour guide radiated with love for the building and its former occupants. I highly recommend a visit on Saturday when the storyteller is there.

Attended the 105th annual holiday party. It was a great mix of history, music, storytelling etc. You will learn so much about the history of Joel Chandler Harris, author of the Uncle Remus tales. Much misaligned during recent years, his tales were actually quite instrumental in forging new ground in familiarizing cultures with each other in the post Civil War era. Google maps WILL NOT take you into the parking lot. Coming down Lowery into West End the driveway is immediately after the house. Basically when you see St Anthony of Padua's church on the left the house is half a block down on the left. It has a small parking area that is mostly dirt/grass. Keep this in mind in inclement weather!

Timothy Donegan

Had a great time. Bring bug spray for the jazz outside.

Angela Russell

Very nice intimate venue. Food vendor offering take away plates at an excellent price. Outdoor venue with free parking, bring your own food, chairs, tables, coolers. Tables with chairs are available for an additional price of course. The admittance fee is quite affordable. Upscale port of Johns were clean with inside lighting and sanitizer. A very cool place to hang out. The performance was excellent. The entertainers would probably appreciate some fans blowing....this is HOTLANTA

Cool venue with alot history

This was an interesting find in the historic West End neighborhood. The tour cost $5 and lasted for roughly 15 minutes. The tour is self guided with volunteers available to answer questions. It was great seeing a home built in the 1800's and seeing the home of a literary pioneer. All of the home is nit available to tour however what is available I found it to be sufficient. I would recommend this tour if you are in the area.

Funmi A.

Beautiful house museum that remains as one of Atlanta's hidden gems. Bring your children for story time and a tour of the home of the creator of Brer Fox, Brer Rabbit, and the tortoise.

We went for the Christmas Carol Experience, so different than your typical visit. The show was really great, intimate, interactive and fun. Highly recommend. You walk into/through most of the lower level rooms during the performance, but I was too involved in the activities to truly notice and appreciate the architecture of the home. Beware, the parking is very limited and mostly pea gravel, so you will have some ruts, mud and puddles if it has been raining. The house is basically in the middle of retail shops, so you have to keep your eyes peeled if the street is busy or at night. We look forward to going back in the day time.

Loved the venue here for the evening outdoor concert we attended.

I LOVED my experience! We had Curtis Richardson as our storyteller and he created such an amazing experience. The way he told the stories--with facial expressions and gestures-- really helped me to "see" each character. I especially loved how he changed his voice for them! When he voiced the water buffalo, I could visualize this immense animal, and when he did the hyena I could visualize that too. It reminded me of the Lion King! I absolutely loved that after our story we enjoyed a refreshingly informative tour. I sincerely appreciated our tour guide giving us all the wonderful details about life during the time Harris lived, as well as information regarding the house's cool furniture and architecture. I say "cool" because being in the same house, seeing the same furniture that existed and was used so long ago made me feel as though I had actually time traveled. The Wren's Nest is definitely a wonderful experience.

We had s great time in the escape room. Without giving away anything, having 2 rooms and more than 7 puzzles was well worth it. Afterwards, we had time for a tour of the house.

Chelli Brown

Omg! The Edgar Allen Poe Experience was AMAZING! They are only open 2 more days & you're crazy if you don't go!

Joe Strike

The five-star rating is definitely true. Not just as a location that's worth visiting (it is), but when you learn more about the positive community impact that are making through various programs and involvement. The relatively young, very enthusiastic staff make this place an interesting juxtaposition of history with forward-thinking ideas.

August 16, 2019 was absolutely phenomenal I went there for a jazz concert it was so organized everyone was so friendly. You bring your own food your own beverages they provide you with the tables and chairs. You can bring your own chairs no umbrellas no tints of course if you do that people can't see the concert because of obstacles I do agree with that. My children are 35 and 37 now they grew up with me taking them to the Wren's Nest for storybook time we still have the book practically new called Uncle Remus. Thank you for a beautiful time at the Wren's Nest. I recommend if you haven't gone there that you do. Look up and read the history.

When we tried to go, their information was incorrect. We read on Google and their website that they were open until 3 pm that day but when we arrived a bit past 1pm, we found the place closed. We called and were told that they closed at 1 pm. Please update your information online.

A membership here is worth the few dollars it costs. If you go more than once, it's worth it. The exhibits are clean and informative and they always have hands on stuff for the kids. There was a bug fair when we went and you could hold spiders. Some days are crowded, others aren't. Parking is close and cash only.

Wren's Nest host a variety of events on their lawn. One event in attendance was Jazz Matters. Jazz Matters was presented by Smooth Jazz 101.1 WJZA-FM and sponsored by George and Janice Andrews of Capital City Bank. The lawn is emmaculate and a could hold up to to 500 attendees. The event had various seating arrangements of formal 10-seat tables, park benches and BYOC (bring your own chair). Parking is available near the facility. Vendors were present. Three restroom stalls were available. The only night lighting was from stage, which was great if you were close. Attendees would have to bring some type of lighting apparatus for tables, etc. Duke Ellington's presence will never evaporate in jazz and his renderings are timeless-great musicans were present. One of the event artists had mesmorized the crowd with Barry White, Teddy Pendergrass and Larry Graham.

Jazz on the lawn. Loving it

This is one of many of Atlanta's old early 20th century homes. This home once belonged to Uncle Remus, author of works like "The Tar Baby" and "Brer Rabbit". This hone is now a museum and plays host to a number of events, including a Gatsby Lawn Party (which was the purpose of my visit).

I visited the Wren’s Nest for a class I am taking. I chose to visit there as opposed to the High or some of the other more well-known places on the list, and I am so glad I did! It was very interesting to see all of the original items in the house. Carla was who gave me the tour and even though it was only me, she provided me with every detail and spent just as much time with me as she would have had it been a large group. She was so awesome and made the experience even more great! If you go, hopefully Carla will be the one to give the tour!

I went there, when I was in elementary school. That was in the mid 90's. My great Grandmother use to tell me the stories of Uncle Remus, and Brer Rabbit. It's been over ten years since I've been to The Wren's House. I'd love to go back and show my daughter.
