#LetsGuide. Ambiance so good to appreciate. The place is just like a library and musel. Here it talks about the life of a great man who did by far the Americans, American President Jimmy Carter. A symbol that deserves all the respect for his work. The environment contains guides that guide you explaining everything and about the local artifacts. It has a bathroom and a place for parking and yet as every place should have is the entrance accessible for disabled people. It is worth checking this imposing monument that holds great stories.

Mike Jackson

Lots of History. Allows one to better understand the former President and what he really accomplished for our country, On Saturdays the Farmers Market is one of the best in town.

Daniel Slick

This museum offers a great look into the life and mindset of President Carter. I recommend planning to spend at least two hours here, which will give you time to see all the artifacts, read all the signs, and listen to all the audio materials.

Georgiana Johnson

Compared to the Regan Library, it is small and needs some TLC especially the entrance. The fountain was out of service and the water was very muddy and green. Overall, the exhibits were very informative. They had a free entrance for military and veterans under the “Blue Star Program “ but you must show your ID

David Binkney

I just went in to sign president Carter's birthday card, but I have been before and enjoyed.

Gordon K. Sitt

The museum costs a small fee to get in and the library is closed to the public.

Purtroppo per mancanza di tempo ho potuto visitare solo l'esterno, che ha un giardino molto bello, sobrio ed elegante. Visitato in Agosto 2013.

A must visit! The landscaping outside and layout inside is very nice. The observation office life size replica was interesting to see.

Beautiful landscaping, wonderful area. Went on a Saturday so the farmers market was there. Picked up some fresh fruit on my way out. The lobby is large and spacious. Will be coming back soon to watch Georgia on my Screen!!

Thomas Blake

One of our great Presidents. Wonderful museum.

My Family and I visited The Jimmy Carter Presidental Library & Museum on our 6 day trip to Atlanta. We stayed at the Barclay Hotel downtown so we had to drive about 10 minutes (2.7 miles) to reach the Museum. The admission Adult $8.00, Senior (60+) $6.00, Child (0-16) FREE. The Museum and around the gardens are wheelchair accessible. The parking onsite is FREE. It takes about 2 hours to tour. Cameras are allowed but NO FLASH.

Jessie Marshall

If you have an interest in the history of the Carter administration when President Carter was in office, this is a great source of history and if you are concerned about what the Carter family are doing around the planet, then, this is the place for you, great history and great philanthropy.

David Reeves

We were visiting Atlanta and one rainy day we decided to visit here for some thing to do. I thought we would be there a couple hours and then off to find lunch some where. We spent most of the day here and I was completely surprised at the exhibit here. We even had lunch there so we could spend more time seeing the videos and the displays. I learned a lot about what President Carter did during his term and also the work both Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter have done to help others in the world. I walked away very impressed with this museum and the Carters. I have to give this 5 stars and recommend that if you are in Atlanta that you visit this museum. It is not expensive and definitely worth your time.

John Macaulay

Thieves broke into our car and stole our suitcases while we were inside learning about President Carter’s legacy and work with helping others in need.

Zaiah Calvin

Wonderful few hours checking out the library and beautiful grounds, honoring the achievements of the extraordinary Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter. Interesting films and displays highlight their work. Definitely worth the visit, if you are in the area!

mary Haynes

I think it is disgusting that people can't just rate this place. Why they have to bash a very kind, humanitarian who has done so much more for people than they could ever dream of!

Scarlett Penford - Books

Pleasantly surprised at the museum and beautiful park like setting. I spent over an hour in July in the exhibits. There’s a little introductory movie as well. Also, a cute little gift shop and a restaurant to grab a bite before you leave.

This is the fourth Presidential Library I’ve been to and thought it was very interesting and informative. Underrated President. But he does know Captain America!

Idrees Malik

I just want to say, before anything, when I visited the museum, the federal government was shutdown. Because of that, the library was closed and the website was not updated. It does get 2 stars because it looked beautiful from the outside and probably is a nice museum. Just a warning. If you are thinking about visiting the museum, make sure the government is not shutdown

This library got me hooked on seeing others. There was no holding back about the truth of his presidency, unlike Clinton's. Bush's was really good too.

Excellent library.. Jimmy Carter Presidential library. Adults $12, Seniors $10 seniors, military, students with ID. children $6.00 @miz_pound_cake

What a great way to spend a few hours! We only came here because we realized it was a short walk from where we were staying, the Highlands Inn, and we'd never been to a Presidential library before. So glad we did! The tickets were very reasonable, the grounds were beautiful and even though one of us was not a huge Carter fan, it was so informative, and so well presented, it gave food for thought about that opinion! The full size replica of the Oval Office was smaller than I had imagined it, but it was still a great thing to see. We didn't really use the gift shop or the restaurant as we had other things on our agenda. All in all a highly recommended place.

Kien Pham

I saw this museum on the list of fun things to do in Atlanta for $10 or less. If you have your student ID, the price is $6/person and it’s worth way more than that. For six bucks, you get to watch a 15 min movie a about Jimmy Carter and access to a library with plenty of exhibits, including a replica of the Oval Office. You also have access to the presidential garden for free. I knew very little about JC coming in but I learned plenty after the day trip. The place is large enough to keep you busy for two hours but not too large that you are exhausted before you see everything. A lot of good food options and nice residential neighborhood in the area for a drive too.

Alessandra Guinand

Educational. Hard times!

The space is amazing. My organization Women Veteran Social Justice Network from Atlanta is hosting it's 10th anniversary here because the grounds are so beautiful and the service and support is awesome. Even through the government furlough happened things are moving ahead well. Looking forward to celebrating with friends and family.

3 years ago, when I visited this place, I questioned something to the employee. The person was very surprised at me and asked why you want to enter the library? Almost her face was that I am ready to call police man....I re-asked her, that is not the public library? She laughed and answered that is the research institution, not public library. Yes, you can only enter the museum. The library is a research center. However, the museum is really great! You can see the former president' history and imitated white house, and very impressive artworks. Also the garden is really wonderful.

Sikhi Mahiti das

Not many of these around and we have one in Atlanta. If you want to feel what it is like being in the White House as President, visit this center. You can experience Jimmy Carter's Presidency.

Ian Alexander

Really enjoyed the library and was a learning experience for all things about President Carter. The replica Oval Office was also pretty cool. Lots of hands on exhibits to learn more. Has a nice gift shop and a theatre also.

Ivee L

I really enjoyed this place and learned so much. I am not a history buff, and knew very little about President Carter before my visit. The museum is very informative. I loved that there are many short videos to watch. Kids can learn without having to read a lot and there's a display for kids in each section to try to engage them. The timeline organization of his life is very clear and detailed. Each section shows the time period, the main topic, and a quote before a series of pictures and displays. Their captions for pictures are very clear too, you don't have to read numbers or location to correspond the captions, each captions come with a small thumbnail of that picture. The garden is absolutely stunning especially during the sunset in the fall. My only compliant is that a lot of the background color on the text displays are in light colors like yellow and orange with white fonts. I don't have any visual problem or disability and found it really hard to read because of the lighting. I had to get really close and adjust the angle to be able to read it. I really hope they would fix that! There's also a temporary exhibition on health and disease that The Carter Center is helping. It talked about many preventable diseases in the developing countries and what they are doing to help, educate, and control them. It also talked a lot about how the Carters helped eradicate the first human disease ever - guinea worm.

Laura Watson

it doesn't matter who you voted for, the presidential library is a time capsule that everyone should visit. Make it a point to visit them in ever state!!!

Like many others that posted here, I was blown away by how incredible this place was. Sure, Jimmy Carter may not have been a very effective President, but he and his wife are two of the most decent humans to ever live, and especially two of the most charitable and genuine people to have been in the White House. Carter was by far most effective in his post presidency work, which is remarkable. The museum is full of awesome features, even for kids, including a very cool replica of the Oval Office. The gardens are spectacular, just topping off such a well done site. If you’re in Atlanta, you will not regret stopping here for a couple of hours!!

Great for all ages. Have taken several visitors here from parents to nieces and all have loved it.

Visited back in 2016, it was a great experience. There is so much history in this building that you can get overwhelmed by the experience. Yes, we all probably agree that Jimmy Carter might not have been the a great president, but he did try his best, and that is something that you should expect from a leader.

Wendy Whittem-Trunz

Very interesting and worthwhile, especially gave insight into his contribution as President, e.g. His dedication to the release of the hostages in Iran, and his post presidency work for world peace and the health of society. A good man supported by a wonderful wife. I actually met him in the late 1980s.

Alvarez Barron

This is a great learning experience about a very decent family man wbo became President at a very difficult time. The exhibit is very well organized and even enjoyed lunch there.

My husband is an Atlanta native but we've never visited here before (We visited Clinton's and G.W.Bush's last year). My favorite presidential library so far is Carter's. I learned a lot about him and the temporary exhibit "Georgia On My Screen" was interesting.

A wonderful place to spend an afternoon. The library is beautifully staged with memorabilia & photos. A very informational & educational experience from beginning to end. All in all, a lovely tribute to one of our most compassionate presidents.

My first visit to a presidential library and museum. Very nice to find out more about President Carter his wife and family and those that were close to him. It was cool to see some of the documents, notes etc. that he wrote. Campaign materials and all of the things that were going on while he was in office. And it gives you information on what they have been doing since he left office. I found everything very interesting and hope to visit more of these!

(Translated by Google) Georgia is proud to be able to see the activities of President Carter as a politician. If you go with the children, you will see the United States, the President of the United States, and the relationship of the world. It seems likely. Carter's award-winning Nobel Peace Prize, and other things that are hard to see in other places. Because it is not a house or a busy place, it is nice to walk quietly, take a walk, and take a picture in front of a museum.

It's a little on the small side, but it's worth the visit for the price, $8 a ticket. A nice documentary starts you off, and then you can go and enjoy all the artifacts, plus there is a nice garden outside. A modest gift shop, but you can buy branded pencils for $.25 and postcards, so it's a good place to pick up small gifts for your friends back home.

Matthew Bailey

This place is pretty awesome. I am a pretty big fan of Jimmy Carter. This is not only because of what he did during his presidency but what he has done since. The library, museum, and the Carter Center only continue his legacy. The museum is very reasonably priced. It features a very good documentary about President Carter and his wife. I learned a lot of stuff that I did not know about him. The museum has tons of artifacts from his and his wife’s lives. They have truly done a lot for this country and the international community. There was a beautiful exhibit on the faces of Vietnam that definitely put some things into perspective. I loved it, and would definitely like to come back again. The only thing that I would have like more is to meet President Carter since he was going to be there later in the evening for an event.

Robert Karma

Jimmy Carter is the first President that I fully remember being in office. I have a partial memory of the end of the disgraced Nixon's tenure and the brief Administration of Ford. So it was a walk down memory lane to visit Carter's Museum. It is a beautiful campus and a calm, tranquil place just to sit outside and enjoy the scenery. Once you enter the building you go through the gift shop to start the tour. You learn the history of Carter's life in Georgia and the world in which he came of age. Then you discover that his time in the US Navy as a Submariner made a great impact on his life. His marriage to Roslyn probably kept Carter from making a career of the Navy. His family drew him back to Georgia where the inequality and lack of positive political change pushed him to get into politics to make a difference in the lives of his neighbors and for the citizens of the state. He was a popular Governor who was a genuine outsider to the Beltway politics of Washington. The museum does a great job of putting this history into the context of the time with Carter's intentions and then showing the consequences of his actions. You see what the pressing issues of the day were and how Carter ran against Ford to win the Presidency. Carter had many highs in office but the Museum doesn't shy away discussing the difficulties of the Administration including the Iranian Hostage Crisis; the Energy Crisis and the economy. While he left office feeling that there was more to be accomplished he did not fade quietly into the night. The Museum also details his great humanitarian work as an ex-President including Habitat for Humanity, addressing world hunger and health issues, monitoring elections in emerging democracies, etc. I left the Museum with a much great appreciation for the accomplishments of President Carter. The Museum put Carter's life in context which is what you need in understanding history. I highly recommend taking a day to visit this Museum when you are in the Atlanta area.

Henry Duncan

It's a nice place, I recommend it everyone!

I simply walked around the grounds, which were peaceful and beautiful.

Hope Cornelius

The gardens are my favorite, a peaceful spot in the middle of the city.

Jessee C

Great experience and very informative. Staff was friendly and helpful. I paid $8 for single adult admission. The grounds are free and open to the public, so anyone could just enjoy the grounds without going to the mission, but I recommend the museum. The grounds are even open after the museum is closed. The library is for research only and not open on the weekends. It's not just full of insight into the lives of President Carter and First Lady Carter, but also a number of antiques bequeathed to them by various world leaders. Enjoy!

Todd Gentry

Great setting and atmosphere but a bit hollow. Fitting I suppose.

The Jimmy Carter Library & Museum is well done and you get a good picture about the life and times of Jimmy Carter. It also tells quite a bit about his life after he was president and as many of us know, he has done quite a lot after leaving office. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Atlanta area.

Gracie Folds

It wa very nice, but on the other hand it was very boring

Excellent museum. Learned a lot I didn't know about his career, his administration, and his works.

Wonderful few hours checking out the library and beautiful grounds, honoring the achievements of the extraordinary Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter. Interesting films and displays highlight their work. Definitely worth the visit, if you are in the area!

Jeff Allen

Very much the $12 entry price to see the Presidential story of Jimmy Carter, the son of a Peanut Farmer from Plains Georgia. When Governor, he was instrumental in bringing the Movie Production biz to Georgia. Currently thru the end of 2019 you can see an exhibit on the Georgia movie business. Very much your time to visit.

Mari Ju

Very interesting museum! There is a discount for military. There is also a place where you can have a lunch.

Eric Patten

Awesome, a fitting legacy for a great human being!

Charmaine Howard

This place was beautiful I went there on a field trip with my score friends.

James Lowe

Took some time today reacquainting myself with President Carter's rise to the Oval Office. This is a wonderful facility nestled in a quiet setting just east of downtown. We caught a ride to the library and were able to easily walk back.

Mary Collier

I love visiting presidential libraries! This one was engaging and was a wealth of information on former president Carter. There was a good blend of facts, quotes and engaging antidotes. Enjoyed my time toking at the temporary Vietnam photography display as well.

Al Costello

The museum gets a five star but the person doesn't. He did nothing for our country, in fact, he made it worse, and even if it wasn't his doing, he didn't do anything about it, or at least something that didn't work. But a very nice layout for the library

Grandpa's Garage

Grandpa's Garage Studio 7 suggests to get over here and get happy. One of our kindest, honest, sincere and peaceful presidents in our U.S. history.

This is an amazing place where you find all the cultures at a single place. This a huge diversity place. The museum can improve its quality by adding more information on the artists and their work. Garden also very beautiful and clean.

Andrew Taylor

Love visiting presidential libraries and this is one of the best although as he was a 1 term president there is much focus given to what has been accomplished since his presidency. I easily passed 4 hours in there and came away with a huge amount of respect for Carter as a person.

Jimmy Carter is an amazing man. Peace is his legacy. Worth the visit!

The nicest of the three Presidential Libraries I saw (LBJ, Clinton and Carter). Presents a great picture of his entire life before during and after the Presidency. Set in very beautiful gardens on the site of Sherman's headquarters at the Battle of Atlanta. It also had lovely views of down town.

Beautiful gardens. It's really easy to walk to as well. The city trails go right to it. The museum was larger than i expected it to be. A quaint place with lots of material to read regarding Jimmy Carter's four years as president. Interesting for history buffs but pretty boring for families, especially children. The grounds and gardens are nice, especially on a sunny day where you could take a nice picnic lunch and feel as though you're in an oasis in the middle of Atlanta.

Worth visiting, tons of wonderful exhibits, replica oval office of President Jimmy Carter, cost $6 entry for students. Early life and presidential carreer of Jimmy Carter and his wife is exhibited here. Contemporary U.S diplomatic history and federal documents are archived here as part of the attached library. Upon request, librarian gives you an overview of the archive and show it from outside, if you want to access it you have to submit official request.

This educational, entertaining self-guided tour taught me much I never knew and helped me remember lots I'd forgotten. I urge persons in the Atlanta area to visit. Jimmy Carter has accomplished much over the course of his life. The exhibits here cover his childhood, military experience, state political offices, Presidency, and his humanitarian work around the world since his Presidency. The impressive exhibits indicate why he was awarded the Nobel Peace prize. Exhibits show pictures of him as a child and working on the family peanut farm. Exhibits discuss his campaigns for state office, then the Presidency. Enlightening videos discuss the Presidential campaign and the way it was conducted. And his work with the Carter Center is also covered. I especially enjoyed watching parts of four of Jimmy Carter's Sunday School lessons at the small church where he has taught Sunday School for decades. He shared some nice insights. Amazingly?, as I took a few notes and pointed out to another visitor the display where one accessed those Sunday School lessons and was telling the person about them, the electric power went off in that portion of the building. A staff member took us to the lobby, where we waited and looked at displays there for a few minutes until power was restored. I didn't ask what caused the outage. Perhaps it was related to rain storms that were occurring in the area, or maybe it was God in some way? It was nice to see the replica of the Oval Office as it was during the Carter Presidency. A plaque there describes a few personal items that were in the office. And an audiotape plays repeatedly a nice, short narration by Carter about his time in the Oval Office. A video about Presidential Carter's negotiations between Egypt and Israel ( the Camp David Accords) to achieve peace was also enjoyable and informative. Displays about the Carter Center's work to reduce diseases, monitor elections, and achieve peace provided much information about the Center's work. A restaurant in the building is open during lunch hours. Many of the seats at the tables in the restaurant offered a beautiful view of part of the magnificent gardens on the grounds of the Jimmy Carter Library & Museum and the Carter Center through the numerous large windows in the restaurant. It made for an awesome atmosphere. The museum includes a gift shop that offers various souvenirs for sale, including copies of some of President Carter's books. The staff were all friendly and helped make my visit even more enjoyable. I devoted a total of about seven hours to the museum and could have happily devoted another hour or so. I would like to have devoted a couple of hours to leisurely strolling through the grounds as well. But my time was limited. However, I did enjoy walking part of the grounds when I first arrived (shortly before 9 a.m. opening time for the museum) and admired some of them from the restaurant, as noted above. Plaques on the grounds tell some of the history of the site where the Carter Center was built. The average visitor could probably tour the museum and grounds in half the time I did or less. But there is much to see for those of us especially interested in it. A sign on the door of the museum lists its hours as 9 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 12 noon to 4:45 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for senior citizens (age 60 or over). Overall, I am very impressed with the museum and its grounds, hope to visit again, and encourage persons in the area to devote some time to a visit. The price is very reasonable to tour the museum. And the magnificent grounds with their gardens can be visited free of charge. It would be a great place for a peaceful stroll, I think. Atlanta's MARTA has at least one bus route that goes right by the museum grounds.
