REVIEWS OF Fernbank Museum - 3D Theater - Forest IN Georgia

Cynthia Hines

Love to visit this place. Always learn something new every time. Kids friendly atmosphere. Staff always professional and courteous. Spectacular views.

Amber Garcowski

My kids loved the kid room. Dinosaur bones were cool, and I loved the room with the different cultural garbs. We only stayed a couple hours and skipped all the outdoor stuff, but we were impressed with what we saw. The cafeteria for was pretty decent too.

Danielle Clifford

Family membership is the way to go! Plenty to do for young children, inside and out. We love the changing exhibits as well as the permanent taxidermy of Georgia. Parking is free which is always a plus downtown. Big screen theater is family friendly for the younger child who can't sit still 45 min but Mom can't leave siblings ! Love the outside playground and forest walkways.

Ace Stephens

This place is fun of you have nothing to do. It felt like it is really only for kids on school field trips. I went with my wife and daughter and while it was not nececarily bad, I constantly found myself bored and thinking I had missed something as there is not a lot of things here. There boardwalks are very fun to walk though. And my daughter has a load of fun.

Grace Choi

Our family loves to come here. The kids love all the different areas to check out and play in and the outside area is really nice with spots for them to run around in. This is a great place to pass a couple hours and grab a bite to eat with the kids.

Nacht Brewks

Exhibits are good, nice upstairs area for kids to play, nice walking trails too!

Tj Alligood

Last stop on our five year old's birthday road trip was to Fernbank Museum. She wanted dinosaurs and I came across it in my search. WOW! The detail in ever single display was phenomenal! We have been to a lot of museums in the past five years but this one is probably the favorite! There is something for EVERYONE! The kids room is AMAZING! The trails outside had so many small details you'd easily walk right past if you weren't looking. I could spend the whole day out there. The traffic wasn't too horrible right around the museum, the staff was super sweet, clean facilities, really nice gift shop and the movie (the few minutes that my two year old actually let me watch) looked really good. My only complaint was that I wish we had more hours the day we went. ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Jessica Weichman

Great place to take kids to learn about dinosaurs! They also have a 3D theater that shows good documentaries about science if you like that stuff.

Sherwin Jen

Before visiting, me and my friend all thought this is gonna be a great visit. However, there isn’t too many things to do outdoor and the displays indoor is kinda topic less. Parking here is also a huge issue, better arrive here early enough to make sure you can find a spot

Quiteris Whipple

We had fun. We should have come first thing in the morning so that we would have had time to explore the forest. Would definitely come again. The kids really loved the nature room that you could touch everything in.

Albino_Gorilla 93

The food and drinks were so good. There was supposed to be a teacher that taught everyone sals, but they weren't their. However, everyone made the best out of it. We danced the night away. Great experience!

Dave Ruddach

Quaint museum with nice layout Wish I could have stayed longer to review more of the written explanations of the exhibits. We were lucky the school buses were packing in the kids to leave when we got there. :) personal note that i should call ahead to places to see if there are tours scheduled for day of visit

Zahra Slail

This place is amazing, huge dinosaur skeleton in the middle of the museum, nice waking area outside and the 3rd floor is where we spend our time with our children, the loved it.

Mikey Murphy

Our second visit to Fernbank and will definately go back. Very enjoyable visit and the kids love seeing the dinosaurs. The gift shop has very reasonable prices on souvenirs as well.

Samantha C

Worth going early to spend plenty of tome in all the exhibits. 3D movie worth it as well. The newer outdoor trail has so much to offer especially for kids so don't skip it thinking you'll pass by trees and plants with nametags. There are play areas, a story time and art exhibits. So much to do and so much to learn about. Great for kids and adults.

Christine Sosebee

Today's visit was just to attend the IMAX movie theater showing of the Superhero Dogs movie and it was fantastic. The theater itself is beautiful and spacious. Great sound system. They passed out the 3D glasses. Being a dog person, the movie was incredible. Had a wonderful outing with another dog friend today. The Fernbank staff is full of special people who have genuine smiles and are very welcoming. We'll be back soon!

Sara

The nature walk was great. Lots of things to enjoy. I did expect more exhibits inside though. Overall it was a good experience that my family and I enjoyed.

roblox_ ssufaYT

I went here on vacation and i loved the 3d movie glasses

Jackie Wilson

I took my great granddaughter and her friend. They really enjoyed themself.

Marisol Ortiz

Wonderful. We enjoyed visiting the Museum. It had so many things to see. And the trails were excellent and a very comfortable walk. V isited with my Nephew from PR. It was great. They even have a theater. A must for us who live here in GA and if your visiting.

Reilly Hamer

A beautiful place in the country. This wonderful natural history museum will please young and old alike. Three floors of interesting displays, movie presentations and more. Just outside, easy, gradually sloped walkways take you on a peaceful journey through lush forests. Helpful staff members like Virginia will be happy to assist you during your visit. Close to downtown, but set apart from the hustle and bustle. Lots of free parking.

Dustin Crawley

Definitely an underated place in Atlanta. Planned on not being here long but ended up staying until they closed. Worth a visit.

Zaiah Calvin

Seems to be more for little kids however we had a blast being there while the reptile exhibits were displayed. We got to pet snakes & lizards. We got to see frogs too. The movie we chose was really neat, don't miss watching what they offer. Even the gift shop was awesome with great prices, esp if you're on a budget.

Sean Christopher

Lots of fun. Loved the fantastic forces exhibit.

lindsey wirht

Great Museum! My son had the best day ever. We will visit again when in the area!

Miss Dia

Great museum. A lot of interesting information. I feel like it caters more to middle and elementary students. My high school son seemed to be unimpressed and bored. Few "real" artifacts mostly duplicates.

Robert Cheng

Fun place for family visit. Lots of hands on equipment and fun games available for adult and kids. Staff and volunteers are knowledgeable and approachable. Outdoor walk also available for folks enjoy natural environment.

S. Enikanolaiye-Oluyemi

An awesome experience for children. I went with my 2 year old and 1 year old; we had an excellent time indoors and outdoors. It loses a star only because the facility seems old and outdated (referring specifically to the restrooms, cafe and elevators).

Eleanor Castrilli

Fantastic so much to do. Very informative. Children love it its hands on. Dinnosour display unbelievable but of course you can't touch that. Huge outdoor trails with optical course for children to run around & climb. Also have cafeteria there

wren

A very nice place to take your family (or maybe a date if they're into learning for fun). They have really cool exhibits and taxidermy animals that are fun to take pictures with. Make sure you wear tennis shoes and check the weather because there's also a pretty long trail outside with so many different paths you can choose to take and beautiful scenery. I've been here a few times and it's never been a let down. Have fun!

Simon Pooler

Fun for the whole family. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Many interesting displays on a variety of subjects.

Elizabeth Guzman

Very educational and interesting! A must see. Lots of activities for kids.

Jodi Wilson

This place never disappoints. Truly, there is something for everyone. Interactive exhibits indoor and outdoors.

Natasha Pizarro

Loved the museum. It would be nice if there updates there interactive areas but in all loved it.

Arielle Dowd

Really cool place but parking lot gets crowded. Luckily theres extra parking near the entrance. Very cool place outside to take pictures. Great for families.

Shanna Lingo

This place is a good spot to take kids. Only problem is the most convenient times for you to take them is the most convenient time for everyone to take their kids to. Very crowded pretty much all weekend every weekend and forget about going during spring break

Kevin McDonald

Overall a decent museum, felt empty I some section while others felt crowded. Definitely a great place to bring your kids to though as the neat hands on exhibits and play areas are everywhere! The highlight for me would have to be the nature trails in the back.

Natalie Berrong

Great place for kids of all ages, lots of fun stuff to explore and there's enough variety for each visit to be different! My toddler loves NatureQuest and the outdoor Nature Stories playground, especially splashing in the creek! Adults will love the sculpture garden and trails through the Forest!

Jay Darcy

Excellent museum! Perfect for kids. We loved it so much that we traded our admission tickets for an annual membership! In addition to the awesome exhibits and 3D IMAX movies, be sure to check out the outdoor areas. Beautiful, and so much fun for the kiddos. Can't wait to go back!

Tashea Nashay Johnson

Fernbank has been a learning staple in Atlanta since I was a small child. There's always something new our interesting to learn here no matter how old you are or how much you think you know. We were her for a nighttime "adult only" event that was tons of fun. We made fireballs using a candle and cornstarch, watched a 3D movie reminiscent of "Night in the Museum", and had an egg drop contest! It was a fun and educational girls night out.

Jerilynae Pointer

This place is beautiful. The kids saw the dinosaurs and we stayed outside for the first hour or so. The playgrounds were great, the trails and structures along it are beautiful. The exhibits are always exciting, especially for the kids. We enjoyed the sunrise/sunset on the ceiling and the science zone.

Benito Duke

The trails in back of this museum are really cool! Pretty short and generally better for younger kids, like 10 and under I would say, but the views are spectacular and the sculptural wooden structures built on the paths are pretty sweet. There’s some netting and climbing structures built into the path too. And it connects to a slightly bigger forest to explore. It’s a really nice extension to the museum. Inside the museum is pretty good too. Although we mainly liked the current Pterodon exhibit and the atrium itself is pretty spectacular with the huge fossils on display. The rest of the museum was just meh, not as interactive or interesting as you would like. There’s a history of Georgia from prehistoric to current with displays of animals, but it’s basically just a bunch of plaster and plastic, not terribly enticing to our kids. The top floor had a decent space for running around and exploring in too. But the outdoor part and the first floor made it worth the trip on its own.

Brittny M

We came here for an adult night and it was super fun! We were able to get beer, wine, and cocktails while walking around the outdoor space and even while catching a 3D showing. We ate at the cafe and the food wasn't bad. We'd love to go back again!

Andrew

It's a quaint museum that would appeal to science-minded kids and some adults. Forces exhibit was the best in my opinion.

Ron B

Great place to visit to see old dinosaur bones. We went there for a birthday party. It was a lot of fun. It was raining so we could not see the outdoor stuff.

John Chou

My Son loves this place! Great indoor and outdoor play areas. We love the traveling exhibits as well.

Chris Ogren

Very nice facility. Our family enjoyed the museum using the City Pass.

Zachary Spires

Great place to take your kids.My girls really enjoyed themselves.

Yaminou Oyeossi

Nice walkway in the tree shade and around nearby creek. The exhibit is of good size and has several interesting items. If you get the chance, watch the movies on the imax screen.

Nicole Jackson

A little pricey but tons of fun. The kids love the outdoor area.

Tony To

It was a good 3 hours for my kids. 7-10 year olds. Loved the forest walking trail.

Laura Frame

My family got a membership at the beginning of the year and we've already been 4 times. The new flying dinosaur exhibits is very impressive - both visually stunning and educational. I can't wait to go back without the kids so I can read everything more thoroughly. I love that they have new exhibits every few months. My 2 year old daughter, 9 year old neice and 5 year old nephew all have a blast each time we go. We usually go to one or two exhibits and then to either the indoor "Nature Quest" kid area or the outdoor playground. We can't wait for the weather to be better so we can enjoy the outdoor offerings more. Each time we've been it is a new experience and I've been very happy that we got a membership.

Tracy Ventura

MY FAMILY ENJOYED THIS MUSEUM FOR A FEW YEARS WHILE WE LIVED IN ATLANTA. LOTS OF EDUCATIONAL EXHIBITS AND OUTDOOR RUNNING SPACE. A GREAT WAY TO SPEND A DAY OFF SCHOOL.

Ayla Smith

I wish it had more dinosaurs. The skeletons aren’t as impressive as I thought they would be; they’re replicated. Other than the dinosaurs in the main atrium, there’s only 6 others & they aren’t too life like (2 are stegosaurus skeletons). There’s also a nature walk sort of exhibit which is very dark, making it good for a sort of nature hide & seek game for the toddler with us. There were other spots with interactive games & things for him to do too, like Nature Quest. The cafe was reasonably priced & the food was good. It wasn’t a bad spot to spend a rainy day!

Tara Weinreich

After growing up within distance of the Cleveland museum of natural history, I found the amount of actual historical displays to be a bit lacking. Half of it was modern or near modern history and nature displays. The outdoor part was a decent walk in the woods. The movies were the one thing that was worth coming for.

Alx C

Attended an event by NAHREP,, informative new loan products. Excellent speakers from GA Women Council, Empire Realists, Freddie Mac, BB & T, and past NAHREP national chapter president. Food was catered by Pods and Pudding. Delicious sliders, tender kabob. Any other time... Thia is a natural history museum with skeleton of dinosaurs. And the displays of wonder of nature's phenomena changes ever so often. You have come check it out when you are in town.

Danny Diaz

Nothing but good things to say about this place. Be prepared for a very active day. The trails through the forest will tire you out. It is very scenic. Kids have plenty of activities to due on the trails. Wear walking shoes and comfortable clothing. The exhibits are very educational and informative as well.

Stacie Harrell

Overall an interesting place with several things for little kids to do. Most of this place seems aimed at families with childen under 10. I would have liked to have seen more of interest to teens and adults, but this was a fun way to spend a few hours. My family enjoyed the hiking out back.

Jen Williams

It is a cool place to visit with nice exhibits, I thought it would be bigger though. There is an outdoor area you can walk through to enjoy nature. The volunteers were very nice and went out of their way to help. I would recommend you go on day or time when it not as busy with schools to really enjoy it.

Gopinath Kumar

I have to say the museum was great which is located in isolated area so plenty of parking space. The place has mostly information about Georgia state which is nice things to see They have wonderful 3D theater The movie was great

Eboni Joy

Our favorite family outing in Atlanta! Beautiful walking path with new outdoor playground with water way for kids play! Rope bridge, just closed nature quest to build a STEM center, beautiful indoor play area where kids can explore freely. A "walk through time" displaying the evolution of Georgia and its inhabitants, with a standing dinosaur exhibit. Special exhibits change about 3 times a year and are always an interactive learning experience. Affordable dining- sandwiches, soup, pizza, nachos. Not especially vegan friendly, but vegetarians and pescatarians can find something they like. Two souvenir stores, one near main entrance/exit, and a smaller one that reflects the special exhibit. Just a lot of fun for the whole family!

Ryan Ogilvy

Great museum. Dissapointed that the outside area was depicted as a thrill ride when there is no "ride"

robbin plummer

Great artifacts! Beautiful 3d science/nature films. Comfortable surroundings and knowledgeable staff.

Zach Willis

Very fun and engaging place for young kids. Interesting nature museum displays along with a large play area. Huge dinosaur skeletons are always a hit. The recently added outdoor area was also excellent - long terraced walkways through the woods. Easy for kids to walk and for strollers. Also a nice little playground outside. Only 4 stars because you do pay quite a bit for all this

María del Carmen García López

Nursing mom friendly. I loved the displays, so interactive and informative. You can see it all in one day. The outdoor paths and displays are the highlight of the place.

John Jordan

Great museum for the whole family. There are exhibits for everyone. The giant 3-D movie was also a good experience.

Sara Ortiz-Romero

I had a nice time at the Fernbank museum! The outdoor area is really pretty and peaceful. The kids had a great time walking among the trees. They also really enjoyed the nature area upstairs. It was very fun and interactive for the little ones. However, it says maximum age is 9 and there were children who looked older than 9 there around. No one was checking at the door. It was a dangerous situation for my little ones who are 3 and 2 so we decided to leave. Otherwise, it was a nice time for the whole family!

R Chari

Definitely recommend doing this with family. It’s worth coming to visit as a tourist even though it’s not downtown near the other attractions The outdoor trails are a great addition to have a one stop experience of science, museum and outdoors. Much more engaging for smaller children than your typical big city natural history museum thanks to the shell collection and the naturalist play area. Honestly the science activities for kids were better than what they have at the children’s museum so doing this with a city pass is a more economical and better experience

terri mejia

There is nothing better than seeing the kids light up looking at the exhibits. They are great about moving interactive with all the displayed items. Outside is beautiful and clean, a great way for younger ones to burn off extra energy so they can go back in and enjoy more.

Michael Maniscalco

We loved the museum kids had a lot to do here. Wish I got here earlier! Will definitely be back when in town again.

Ben Moore

We've done Fernbank after dark since it was Martini and a movie. The best part about the while experience is the relaxed atmosphere. It's never crowded or too loud to have a conversation. And conversation is what the whole experience is about. With different exhibits and movies, its different every time.

SPQR

Museum has extremely limited expositions... The theater is quite nice as well as the children's playground.

C.J.

Took my students here on a field trip. Very exciting and great experience. The 3D movie was awesome.

Nathan Keal

Had a good time here looking at all the exhibits, I did not get bored. It wasn't crowded at all. They had a nice nature trail outside with activities for kids and sculptures. They also have a cafe with sandwhiches for around 9-10 dollars. I enjoyed my time here.

Chris

Really cool experience if you are into museum's! The trails are really nice to walk. The canopy of the trees cools the hot ground below.

Melissa H. Johnson

Beautiful interactive, walk-thru exhibits, friendly employees!! I absolutely enjoyed the outdoor nature trail and boardwalks!!! The kids loved the dinosaur bones and the souvenir shop!! Truly a jewel in Atlanta!!

Noemi Pajares

I have been there and is always great, excellent programs, movies and documentaries a great educational experience

Nishant Consul

This place is unbelievable. The floor of the museum is made up of fossils. There are mummified remains of animal dating back to 10000 years... If you wish to walk in the woods, they have a perfect jungle behind the museum where you can connect with the nature.

Kenneth Hall

The highlight for me was the 3D movie but there are also some interesting dinosaur exhibits. I'm glad we went early on a week day because it wasn't as crowded as it gets later on in the day or over the weekend.

Suzie Q

Wasn't interested on what the museum has to offer.. But the Forest was a wonderful experience.

Sydney Gleason

Love this museum! Great for small kids as well. My son loves the play center. An exciting getaway especially during the cold months.

lee riner

I really didn't like it. We only went because it was included with our city guide booklet. I guess it would be ok for little kids. Just a couple of fake dinosaurs to see some fake animals and a walk through some woods with nothing to see except some dumb wooden bugs. Really not much to do here. Not sure why they advertise it as a 75 acre thrill ride more like 75 acres of pure boredom.

Rahul Chakraborty

Not worth. If your expectation is high. DO NOT GO. If you do not have any work and you feel your children are on vacation. Then you can only go for your children.

Crissy Sykes

Very educational and so much to look at. The outside walkway through the woods is wonderful.

Stephanie Bigelow

Fernbank is a great place for educational purposes. Great place to take children. They have a cute cafe and the food there is excellent and it's not pricey at all.

Alvin G

I love this place! My family and I went to ATL for a vacation and toured the city. This is one of the best place we went to. My children had a blast. This museum is big, so have a few hours to explore this awesome museum. They also have a canteen, if you get hungry. There's a place for all ages. Highly recommend to go to when you're visiting ATL.

CL B

We spent 6 hours here, but did not watch the 3D movies. Our 6 & 8 year old had a blast!

Fannie Rosario

Great place to relax and enjoy the scenery with a combination of a movie and some education about nature and historic dinosaurs.

Jennifer MacKenzie

My kids and I absolutely loved this place. Such a neat museum to show our kids some history and things they may never see otherwise. Also a great kids zone upstairs!

Beth Harmon

Outside walk ways new since l was there last. Loved the pottery exhibit

Cara H

Amazing amazing place! Built with kids in mind but super interesting for adults as well. So many great things. My 5 year old was kept entertained and educated from the moment we got there. We were there from 10:30 to 5. Did a 3d movie, very nice. Cafeteria food is good. Outdoor play places are awesome. We happened upon a guided nature tour of the woods given by Ranger Leslie and she was great! She engaged my daughter and answered all our questions, we really learned a lot. Just too much to even cover in one review. If we're ever back in Atlanta we'll definitely go again.

andy killebrew

A great museum for the kids. We took our children and now we are taking our grandchildren. The awe in their eyes make makes your heart swell. Dinosaurs are always a big hit. The IMAX always has great movie experiences.

M H

Staff was not the friendliest, but the exhibits and staff within were great. 3d film was also worth it, but general admission was too expensive. I probably wont return based on that cost.

Byron Gilbert

Great venue for meetings. President Bush visited there. As Scouters, we stood behind him. The facility handled this top level event seamlessly.

Aneel Maan

I had a great time here. Tons of stuff to see. This place will keep you busy for hours.

Martha Chiok

It gave me a greater appreciation of our planet. It inspires life -long learning of natural history

Tia Madison

Not the most.impressive of exhibits overall but there was enough interaction to.keep my grandson excited! Many of the replicas looked too artificial..almost like plastic animals you can find in an old thrift store or such. I feel I got all I needed in one visit.

Bidemi Yahaya

Very lovely place. Didn't realize there was so much to see in the main building. I spent so much time in the garden seeing crocodiles and was so exhausted by the time I go to the exhibits in the building. Will visit again

An Michele

This place is part of the CityPass experience and is worth it. The exhibits are well done and I especially enjoyed the cultural exhibit on the 3rd floor. I lost my ticket for the show but still had my receipt and they let me into the show with no problems. The only issue I have is they closed the cafe early and started setting up for a wedding so when I grabbed a snack from vending before leaving there was no places to sit and the set up crew weren’t very nice but overall the staff was great.

Janette Knittel

nice. a little "tame". the outdoors walking area is very cool.

That Tech Family

I grew up going to the Fernbank Museum of Natural History as a child. On a recent family trip to visit friends in Atlanta, I was lucky enough to take my husband and six-year-old daughter. Not only did she love the Dinosaurs, but she loved exploring all around the outside of the museum on all of their nature trails. While it's not the largest museum inside, it truly is a great family experience, and a must see if you're in Atlanta.

Chris H

We have been to many of the attractions around Atlanta and I'm very impressed with what is offered here. There are many activities for kids, long walks through the forest areas and plenty of areas to play. Overall, it's a good place to go if you want to spend 5-6 hours exploring and learning.

Celeste Freeman

We have been going to this museum since it opened in the 90’s. They do a great job of keeping things interesting and up to date. The hands on area for the kids could use a little tlc but that is to be expected. The outside trails are so awesome! We did see a 3D movie this visit and it was great. Highly recommend! If you become a member you get free refills on drinks in the cafe as well as a percentage off any purchases. So worth it if you plan to visit more than once in a year.

Marco Ciavolino

amazing Atlanta museum with incredible displays great IMAX theater and a long walking course to the woods that everybody should do

Blanche Henderson

The trails in back of this museum are really cool! Pretty short and generally better for younger kids, like 10 and under I would say, but the views are spectacular and the sculptural wooden structures built on the paths are pretty sweet. There’s some netting and climbing structures built into the path too. And it connects to a slightly bigger forest to explore. It’s a really nice extension to the museum. Noobs with Gaming

This is a good place you can go to learn something about our past. The bad thing about this place is that it's the same stuff everytime you go there. Nothing has changed in years.

Quintin Kreth

The Fernbank Museum is a lovely natural history museum and science center. They have some great large-scale replicas of ancient creatures and landscapes. However, it's not really a strong draw for people from outside the area. It doesn't compare to classic natural history museums like the Field Museum or the Smithsonian, or science museums like the Exploritorium. The diversity of Fernbank's exhibits is a two-edged sword in this respect. If you've seen other natural history museums and don't have kids to entertain, then you can probably skip Fernbank.

Sam Fletcher

Really cool place to visit. Whether you're with or without kids, it's a super neat place to visit. I am glad to see how much community involvement there was in keeping the place interesting and full of great community events. I'll be sure to come back for the 21+ event ocassionally held!

Randy Settle

Awesome Museum with a Big Screen 3D Theater and gift shop was well priced. The exhibits we're cool and alot of hands on for the kids including a full playground area and outdoor nature trail to include a 2 mi walk through the woods.. do not recommend for those with strollers

Damon Ellerbe

This wasn't particularly my favorite place to visit, but they do have a lot of interesting things. Staff was friendly and knowledgable.

Keenan and Javier Viera

Really? All I can say is wow... shockingly this place hasn’t changed in 25 years. I had somewhat fond memories of it from when I was a kid but upon visiting today, those fond memories have been replace with feelings of disappointment. As one reviewer put it- a few dinosaur bones- an outdoor trail- and some yawn-worthy exhibits. We didn’t bother with any of the 3-D movies- bc we were so over it 15 minutes into our visit. If I had to sum it up in one word, “LAME” is what comes to mind. I am so disappointed, shocked, and embarrassed that Fernbank is the same boring place as it was 25 years ago. Even my 6 and 4 year old girls we totally disinterested in what Fernbank had to offer.

Burnt Orange

Really liked this on our out if town visit. A few of the things in the hands on area were broken which was a shame as interactive exhibit is always big for kids. It did feel like there was an effort made to make items unreadable in display with both plaque placement and poor lighting being major contributors. Everything else was spectacular and breathtaking from the moment you drive up to the building and on through the amazing nature trails. We arrived within an hour of it opening and only left because they were closing...could have stayed even longer. Food offerings in the cafe had healthy options that tasted wonderful and at good prices, too.

Bill Akins

Attended a wedding here, it was a blast! A vey unique experience. Used to come here for field trips as a kid, it has not lost its appeal to me as an adult.

tim barnes

Fernbank Museum is an incredible place to spend a day. They have a variety of exhibits displaying a wide range of Natural History subjects. They cover the usual flora and fauna with a focus on Georgia and the southeast. The have a wide range of dinosaur exhibits festuring many full scale models. The main floor has a full sized skeleton of a T-Rex another GIANT dinosaur whose name escapes me. There is a 40 foot 3D screen theater with variety of movies. 2nd and 3rd floor have rooms focused on children with hands on activities. Outside is an incredible nature walk with 2 play areas for kids. This is simply an awesome place.

Avi Nitekman

Great place! Lots of fun for lots of ages. Beautiful outdoor hike, three floors of indoor entertainment and 3d theater. Can spend half a day without getting board with kids up to about age 10 I would say. A bit pricey, but we got in on a BOGO which made it affordable. Loved the 3d movie. Overall very nice time.

Rachel Honeywood

This museum is pretty, but doesn't have as much as expected when it comes to dinosaurs. They do have a nice indoor play place for kids and a small outdoor playground. Outside, it is essentially walking on bridges through a forest.

Adam Utterback

The Fernbank is a beautiful museum inside and out. Multiple exhibits are on display with some in rotation. There are also 75 access of attached land that contain beautiful walking trails. Look into the City Pass of your visiting today.

chelle hartzer

Fernbank is a great midsize science museum that has a nice rotation of special exhibits. They also have a neat outside natural area to hike through and that often has rotating special stuff. The best (if you are 21+) is Fernbank After Dark. The whole museum is open for us "big kids" plus there is food and adult beverages available for purchase.

T. Nicole Webb

Fernbank is an awesome museum, the entire place is built to keep visitors interested both young and grown. With both permanent and rotating artifact offerings this museum leaves you hoping for their next event. While much of the museum is built for children, Fernbank has recently started offering on the first Saturday of the month adult interactive science nights with a theme that changes from month to month. These events have both food and alcohol and are not intended for anyone under 21, however they make a pretty great date night

Toni Roberts

So much to see and do, even without movies. Easily spent 3 hours. Fascinating!

Anne Kropiewnicki

Nice museum, good educational displays, but i feel there wasnt a whole lot for the money? I mean admission was only $20. Employees were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed all the dinosaurs!

Absolutely the best place out of every place that we visited out of the Atlanta City Pass. I would give this place 10 Stars. I will absolutely come back and I'm going to purchase a season pass better than the Aquarium.

Anjel Wings

Great place with a lot to see. Very friendly staff. Enjoyed the 3D Movie.

Patrick J

A bit pricier than I expected, but lots of cool exhibits and the kids really enjoyed the indoor play area on the 3rd floor. Wish the 3d movies were included in the already high admission, $13 per ticket on top of general admission was too much to spend after all was said and done.

The dinosaurs were great, but there are a lot of lightbulbs out in the exhibits and backlights for the interpretive signs, so you can't learn as much as you'd like. The exhibits are all incredibly dusty, as well. Would have been nice to have more interpretive information about the artifacts on display, and less playground equipment. Overall, great museum to keep kids busy, but don't expect to learn anything.

This is a wonderful place! It's a good idea to bring children here, as it is very fun and informative. My personal favourite was the "A Walk in Time Through Georgia" exhibit.

Leana Graves

This museum has very few real exhibits And what exhibits they did have were very poorly lighted and hard to see. The monster fish only had about 5 fish to see; none were local to Georgia or even America. All were replicas. Several hands on things for children to do, but overall, a small amount. Honestly, this needs to be renamed the Fernbank CHILDRENS museum because it’s definitely geared towards children. Two stars because the AC worked well in August and the building was pretty.

Anne Baldwin

Nice museum with many interactive features. Could use some dusting, especially the pterodactyls in the main lobby- their wires are coated! Disappointed that 3 of the 4 interactive screens in the temporary pterosaur exhibit were not working and no employees in the area to see if they could be fixed. Overall a nice museum with beautiful grounds to explore.

Shelley Berlin

Although the architecture here is beautiful, and the outside part is pretty and fun for kids, I think this Museum could use a lot of improvement. even though it's one of the more expensive ones in town, it seens pretty lacking in both quality and quantity of exhibits. also, it could really use a lot of updating so far as coming into the 21st century to use technology for more interactive displays, we're both adult and children visitors can access more information through using technology... (and only giving a dollar or two off their already expensive prices for seniors and children is really disappointing...!)

Alan Varughese

Very soothing atmosphere. The exhibits are lined up very well and do a great job of explaining the context. The cafe has kids options and has a piano player playing some classical music during the day. The IMAX 3D theatre is great too. If you have an Atlanta City Pass you can take in a number of landmarks including the Fernbank museum. They even have a nature walk behind the building. Overall, great experience.

Britany Smith

We had a great experience. There are several enjoyable historically cultural and scientific attractions available here. The walk through the nature exhibits both indoors and out doors were majestic my family had a great time. The café was a PLUS!!!

Scott Van De Water

Great exhibits indoors with a really great outdoor section! Definitely recommend going when the weather is good, as you will miss out on a lot of you can’t go outside. Great for all ages.

Flavio Villanustre

The best natural sciences museum in Atlanta. Lots of interactive exhibits for kids, outdoor preserve with beautiful strolls in the wilderness and good collection of fossils from the area and around the world.

Saad Zaidi

Overpriced attraction with great learning. Ideal for kids who want to learn about pre-historic era. You can find everything about the species to nature. Surprisingly the museum has three hiking trails with beautiful landscape. It is a good attraction but way overpriced.

John Sablan

Very nice museum I was not expecting the robust outdoor play area and hiking trail. My three year old enjoyed the exploration area on the third floor as well as the multiple dinosaur and wildlife exhibits.

Tiffany Warren

I hadn't been to Fernbank since I was a kid myself. We took our six year old and had a blast! I'm not sure who had the most fun, but I was pretty sad when it was time to go. My favorite part was the Fernbank Forest and Wildwoods. We had such a great time that we are going to become members so we can return frequently. So much to explore!

Portia Holloway

Came here on a second grade field trip. The kids only got to do 2 things so we missed a lot but the highlight was touching real boa constrictors and the 3D movie at the end. I will come back on my own with my children so we can walk around outside and view more. The tickets are free for veterans, so that was a nice surprise!

Denise King

Great museum for children. Family friendly. Lots of interactive learning.

Angel Stone

This is a must see at least once. The new outdoor adventure trails are so much fun for young and old. Always great exhibits and nature movies that inspire and amaze.

Dara J

Had a great experience the nature walk with the guide Leslie was phenomenal. I learned so much about our native foliage and animals that reside in our own backyard. It only reinforced my deepening respect for nature.

Emilie Poole

This place is absolutely gorgeous and feels completely upscale and ritzy. We were here for an event after the museum was closed, and the space absolutely lends itself to being a wonderful party venue for lavish, large office parties. Someone also mentioned that a friend of theirs recently got married here, and I totally believe it would be a wonderful place for a quirky bride and groom to have their event and it not feel gaudy or weird - but simply an upscale, beautiful, museum venue. There is also a room for children where they can explore, which was extremely fun for us as adults as well. Fabulous experience here that made me want to visit the museum as an actual museum instead of simply for an event, next time.

David Kelly

Pricey but worth it. Great volunteers that help you around. Wonderful exhibit about flying Dinosaurs. I believe the exhibits change, so check their website. Veterans get discounted entrance. It can get very crowded around holidays. Imax theatre is fun but old. The outside nature walk is wonderful. Plan an hour outside if the weather is good

steve g

Great place to take the kids. Cool trails and plenty of things to do

K A. Bull

Seems to be more for little kids however we had a blast being there while the reptile exhibits were displayed. We got to pet snakes & lizards. We got to see frogs too. The movie we chose was really neat, don't miss watching what they offer. Even the gift shop was awesome with great prices, esp if you're on a budget.

josseline mayorga

Nice place to go but without kids(because of the price). It's smaller then expected but still a good place to check out when you get bored of your usual to go places.

Todd Nolan

Solid place. My kids enjoyed being there. A lot of interactive exhibits for kids. We easily two to three hours and could’ve spent longer had the weather been nicer outdoors. I would recommend this for any parent with smaller kids doing the city pass. Much better than the college football hall of fame for smaller kids. We shall be back again. Only negative is it’s not walking distance from the downtown hotels.

Austin Benedict

4 year old and 2 and a half year old loved the dinosaur exhibits. Good kids play area on the top floor. Went on a Tuesday afternoon and it was packed with elementary school tours. By 2pm, the place was empty. I would suggest going towards the end of the day, if that's an option.

Sarah

Many interesting exhibits here. Staff is very nice

Place would be amazing for kids...Like a giant edutainment playground... But for traveling adults like us the content is sparse...still fun was had by my wife and I....there were dinosaurs to see...outside trails covered in finely crafted ginormous sized wooden bugs...history to explore...tons of taxidermy and extinct animals to gaze upon.. cool mini models.....and a very vast collection of very impressive sea shells.....also the staff/volunteers were very helpful and extremely nice... The place has a grand feel to it...found it worth a one time visit... definitely more to get out of this though with children..

Kristina Woods

My nephew loved this place. Had more fun here then the zoo. Lots of outdoor stuff with trails and kids play area. They have several different hands on exhibits where kids (and adults) can do science experiments or build things. My nephew particularly like building his own plane and shooting it into the sky.

Will Mizell

Interesting exhibits. Facility was clean and neat. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would like to go back again when I am in the area.

Kya Cooper

I loved the show we watched in the planetarium. Very informative

Patra Novich

Small museum but very fun. Also an decent outside area. You can also see documentary movies in their 3D theatre.

Adam S

When we arrived there was no power which we were told before entering the building. They informed us of the outdoor area which we managed to spend hours exploring. Finally the power was back and we spent a few more hours inside. The staff was very polite and full of knowledge. The kids had a great time and managed to get some nice things at the gift shop without breaking the bank. Overall a great experience and great way to spend our last vacation day in Atlanta.

Terri Otuechere

The place was very laid back and informative. The staff was pleasant, but the food was not good. I would be sure to eat before you go. I ordered the nachos. It was not good save your money on a nice meal at a wholesome restaurant.

Amanda Hickerson

Great experience with a variety of information and interactive exhibits. There was plenty to entertain and educate both me and my daughter. The map is very useful and there's hours of stuff to see indoors and out in a beautiful venue. Good play areas for the kids too!

Al Buchala

We recently visited the Fernbank Museum for the first time while in Atlanta. The museum is easy to navigate and there is a large outdoor are with a network of trails and things to do/play along the way. My son really enjoyed the outdoor area and spent about half of our time there. Inside there are several different rooms showcasing different dinosaurs and fish. The exhibits look great and they offer a large amount of information about them. I really enjoyed our time here.
