This is an awesome place. I loved everything about it. The civil war exhibit was very good. The president's exhibit was outstanding. I read something on everyone of the presidents. Would definitely go back again. The picture attached is "The Cowboy".
Like many other reviewers here, this place took me by surprise. If you are a western fan (I mean TV and movies), you MUST come here. The place is huge with thousands of paintings and sculptures. Some of the paintings are so realistic they look like 3D photos, but with more detail. Same is true of the sculptures. Also, there are lots of movie posters for western movies I never heard of before! This place is just unbelievable! I'll be going back, a lot.
AWESOME PLACE.. 1ST timer...
Really great art there. I was actually suprised.
Love the history and art here. It was amazing.
Visitors will enjoy seeing artifacts, paintings, sculptures relate to American's westward expansion period. The 120,000sf facility is inviting, well organized and spotless. You need more than three hours to move around. It closes on Monday and Sunday hours are 1:00 to 5:00 pm It is a must see museum if you love cowboy art and history (especially if you are from AZ
Fabulous collection of art and sculptures explored by 5 and 7 year old grandkids. Nice cafe
Loved this place. The sculptures were out of this world. It's a must place to go see.
Very nice location with tasteful artwork. We especially enjoyed the hall of presidents and the special Remington exhibit.
Great museum with a fantastic variety of western art and rotating featured galleries. Only concern I had was that as an affiliate of Smithsonian, I'd hoped to see more art by African American artists and featuring African American subjects. The Smithsonian is the reason I learned (approx) 1 in 3 cowboys was in fact black, and I would like to see more art reflecting history accurately. However, it was still a great place to visit and next time I'm back in Georgia to see my friends I may have to go back!
Unbelievable western art and antique pieces of the old west. Nothing like it east of the rockies. Also has southern artworks, history.
This place was a true surprise, I've had the privilege of visiting many of our nation's museums dealing with this period. This museum has procured collections from nationally known collectors a true feather in their cap. Plus they host local grade schools and have a wonderful program for them, my grandson enjoyed it immensely!
Best western museum!
Awesome place, really transports you into the adolescent stages of america
I had an AMAZING time!!!! the Docent was great. She provided a lot of information about Native Americans and the West.
Very nice.place to spend a day. Interesting western art and history. Really enjoyed it.
We love Booth. Wonderful place for American history.
Let's just start with the room full of paintings of Confederate figures and flags with no qualifications. That really soured me on the perspective of the curators and museum management. There are some really nice pieces of art, a few by Native Americans. The modern pop art is kind of fun. I never knew whose perspective I was looking at with the art. The exhibits seem more focused on the fantasy of the American West than say the reality or experiences of the people. There are historical artifacts interspersed. I'm not very clear on the organization. There are also landscape photography and painting exhibits interspersed as well. I am on the fence about this Smithsonian affiliate (affiliate means that the museum does research with the Smithsonian and shares its collection, it is not a Smithsonian museum). It's worth a visit but I have reservations.
Oh my gosh! This museum is great! I visited this museum because my bank offers at the first of the month visit to museum's. It has a lot more to offer than just western things. I spent about 4 or 5 hrs there, truly amazing
Very beautiful and modern museum. Wonderful western and Indian art and artifacts. Fascinating US President exhibit and excellent Civil War exhibit. Took almost 3 hrs to see it all. Discounts for seniors and military. Well worth the visit.
I loved goinghere. I could spend all day.
Wonderful place, love the exibits
One word - WOW! How lucky we are to have this in our town!
Very educational! I loved the presidential section. Plan on making a trip back with my school.
Great prices for an exclusive look into the past and present of the country.
Great place. Always an adventure.
This is one of my favourite museums to visit in Georgia! The staff are always friendly, the space is always clean, and there is an exhibition for everyone at every age!
This is a world-class museum. I could spend hours here each time I go. Their sculptures are amazing and their Native American displays are some of my favorite. If you haven't gone - GO! Go soon!
Wow! This is a surprising gem of a museum! The artwork is beautiful - I specially love the Presidents' Room which has signed letters from every American president along with portraits and busts. The Western Landscapes and portraits of historical figures, Indians, and livestock are also amazing! Many famous artists are represented. Smithsonian quality in North Georgia!! Love! ❤️
Awesome museum w a great Western art collection. I have traveled the US & it was quite a surprise to find a Western art muceum this nice in the South.
We had our daughter’s wedding reception at the Booth Museum. Our guests were so complimentary of the collections and the facility. The staff is simply amazing and wonderful to work with. Thank you for helping me make our daughter’s wedding magical!!
Always fantastic!
An absolute must visit if you are within 75 miles. We recommend visiting Cartersville Georgia and enjoy Main Street - this is one of the best places we have ever visited.
Very nice and educational to spend the evening.
It was an amazing museum. Western art and some of the artist are still alive. The hall of Presidents was quite impressive.
Amazing place. Phenomenal artwork.
We came here with my daughter's art class. It was far more informative and interesting than I had imagined. The day included tours from some knowledgeable artist in the area so that made it even better especially for the kids in the art class. Highly recommended.. the portraits of all the presidents was kind of a highlight, the technique and artistry looks like photography...and we could see the work-in-progress as they have a gallery just for the artist to travel in and complete another portrait of 19th century presidents.
Loved this museum of Western art. The horse sculptures and painting's we're spectacular.
Its a very nice family oriented, fun educational place to go
Very good art museum. I would say it rivals the Cody museum.
Fabous. Ne er expected something so filled with southwest art eadt of the Mississippi. Nice to see the Native American collection.
5 star museum o Native Americans, the old West and the Civil War. Remington's art work was on display. Judy was a wonderful docent.
We came here on a free museum day through the Smithsonian website. The museum is pretty large with various galleries that all have a western theme. I personally really liked the modern gallery, the sculpture gallery, and the presidential area. I was also fortunate enough to catch a temporary Andy Warhol exhibit, which was very intereting. There are guided tours, a theater and a gift shop.
This was an awesome museum. Who would have thought that there was a cowboy art museum here in Georgia? It is definitely worth a visit.
Out of the way but worth a visit. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Impressive museum! Beautiful building. Amazing sculptures, paintings, and artifacts.
I don't like museums. I dreaded going here with my dad and sister. Boy am I so glad I came. This is by far the most interesting museum I have *ever* been in (and I've toured all over the US and Europe). Take the time and stop here. I will be going back tomorrow. Happily.
The exhibits are well organized and beautifully maintained. Very comprehensive collection of western art
Great exhibition space, handicap accessible, plenty of free parking
It was bigger then we expected, and a lot of beautiful and sad history kids learned. Go see it you'll enjoy/learn so much.
A must visit! Even if a Western Art museum in Cartersville Georgia doesnt interest you this place is amazing, just go and see.
I came across this place passing through town great museum, spent hours walking around taking it all in worth the stop.
This is our second time to this museum. My parents were visiting from the Midwest and we thought they would enjoy it. They did! It's not too big, and all of the displays are first class! A fun, historical hidden gem in Georgia! Give the cafe a try, too.
A gem that will knock your socks off!!! Contemporary architecture, housing a stunning collection of art, I had not idea even existed. Wonderful to see so many talented American artists and some from overseas portraying a time gone. Cowboy festival is fun, that happens at specific times, even for the kids. So happy to be able to visit on a frequent basis. Great new exhibits often.
I took my boyfriend to this place as it was one of my favorite museums as a child growing up. It's such a clean and quiet museum with great spectacles of art. Their tours are educational and well-paced and they have so many ranges of art from oil paints to amazingly technical bronze statues. We spent a leisurely 3 hours here without lingering. I've always had a wonderful time here, from the age of 7 to now. It made for a great weekend.
Such a great hidden gem. We spent a good 4 hours here and loved every minute!
Loved this museum since they had the Ansel Adams exhibit a few years ago... Not sure about the volunteers here. Last I was at the museum was August 2018. 90 degrees out that afternoon and I always have my water bottle (in a shoulder bag) with me. Got tickets and walked the entire first floor seeing all the art pieces, past multiple museum workers without any problems with my bottle. Then when we got to the second floor, while enjoying the art, a volunteer came up next to me and said "we don't allow water bottle in the museum". Not until I said "okay... Should I bring it back to my car?!", then he said "you can put it at the front desk." Really not that big a deal, but if you were to tell me water was not allowed, may be followed it up with a solution before needing me to ask. It's less rude and less offensive.
Awesome! 10 out of 10. Love the museum and the cookout.
Good museum. We saw all the indoor and outdoor exhibits despite the heat. The movie that plays for visitors was entertaining if a bit short. Warhol exhibit was amusing and endearing as ever. Recommend this museum highly for lovers of art and western media
We had a great time wonderful art much more then we expected and only did 2 of the 3 floors will go back soon
Outstanding collection! Highly recommended!! You must go.
The Presidential gallery is beautiful and full of interesting information! I loved reading the letters in each President's own hand. The other galleries are lovely, I was able to see the whole museum in just a few hours without feeling like I had missed anything.
A treasure in every way.
Definitely worth your while to visit. Give yourself plenty of time, this place is huge. You'll enjoy their "Cafe" good sandwiches & reasonably priced.
Great art museum. Excellent 2 hours spent.
Great place to visit. Very interesting!
Well worth the trip to Cartersville. Beautiful museum with outstanding exhibits. Will return for certain.
It was beautiful and interesting. The tour guides were very informative.
This is really beautiful museum, the quality of art is very special, I can be here all day
Very impressed with this hidden treasure. If you're in the area you need to stop by. The staff were amazing with our group of kids on the field trip. I can't wait to come back and look on my own.
A real treasure! Very well done with a focus on living artists. Jim Dunham was our guide and he was amazing. Beside Western art, there is a whole room devoted to the US presidents, and a children's hands on room w/costumes.
Fantastic museum. Whether or not you are going to see a specific exhibit you will want to take the time and see as many of the other exhibits as you can. It's beautiful inside and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely worth the drive!!
I was amazed at the quantity and quality of Western artwork and artifacts. Truly a top-tier museum.
A very fun place with beautiful artwork in many medium.
What an amazing gem located north of Atlanta. Such a special place.
What an awesome place that I didn't ever know about until this trip to Georgia. Definitely worth an afternoon to listen to the docents and learn about the artist's works that are on display. An awesome bonus is the presidential letters section!
Wonderful artwork!
Go! Nothing stuffy or dusty here. Western art at its best. Bring young children for fun/learning in children's area. Gift shop and lunch restaurant.
The staff is present. It is worth a visit!
Driving into the Appalachian foothills to an American Western Museum seems odd, and yet Booth Western Museum is nestled right in the heart of Cartersville, Georgia. Wide, airy spaces with carefully curated works of art are showcased, both indoors and out. It was a pleasant surprise and I'm looking forward to returning.
It seems a bit unusual to find a western art museum in North Georgia but here it is and it is great. The variety of paintings, sculptures, and other displays is fantastic. There is also a section called the Presidential Hall that has information and letters from all the U. S. Presidents. The price of entry is very low for all the great artwork.
Loved our last minute field trip to the Booth Western Art Museum! This was our first time, and 2 hours was not long enough. We will definitely be going back with a more organized plan! :-) The museum is full of paintings, sculptures and photography that tell the story of America's history, honoring some of Americas past and present artists. There is also a child's hands on area in the lower level for children to play, and "pretend" to experience things like riding on a stage coach and stuff.
Great place. Loved the native american art.
This is my new favorite art museum. I was quite amazed at how big and beautiful this place is. So many different kinds of art, friendly staff, lots of places to sit... it is a real treasure!
Fabulous!! The Warhol exhibit was amazing ☺
This is one of the largest and most incredible collection of western art. Even after 4 hours did not see it all!
Great gallery. I really enjoyed the Remington exhibit as well as all of the bronze sculptures.
Loved it! Nice mix of classical and contemporary. Worth the drive.
Very cool place. Art, history and industry all rolled into one place. Who would have thought such am interesting place would be in the center of Cartersville. The three current temporary exhibits are very cool.
What a jewel!
Great experience every time we go. Tour guide was informative and entertaining. Always new exhibits and price is right. Try the chicken salad sandwich in their food court. Very tasty.
This is a beautiful, spacious museum with friendly staff. I liked being able to compare Remington bronzes to ones by other artists. Many of the paintings are stopped me in my tracks with their beauty. I had hoped to see more prints of the museum pieces in the gift shop.
I loved the Booth Western Art Museum! The art was just beautiful. It was a day well spent.
This place is very interesting and educational for children.
I was so excited about visiting here. I was not disappointed!! Very interesting and the art was magnificent!
Very educational, is an eye opening to rhe harsh reality of the early history of this nation. Is a must see for every american.
A wonderful museum. Always a great time
Jewel of a museum! Part of the Smithsonian. Frederick Remington exhibit was very good!
An amazing and delightful place to visit! The art, the history, and the pleasure of enjoying it all wrapped in modern architecture. Take the free tour too. Very worthwhile.
Beautiful beautiful articles from the old west to the modern days..
Great muesum!
A Great Western Art/History Experience
Best exhibits for children of all ages !!
My family and I have loved visit the Booth Museum for years. When my sons were little I would take them in the stroller with me and now they are visiting on field trips with their friends at school. Wonderful museum for all ages. Highly recommend becoming a member and visiting for all new exhibits and events. They always have something going on! We also love taking both adult and youth classes at the Booth Art Academy.
I really sold this place short. The staff is super knowledgeable and the kids area in the basement is great. Plan for a full day.
This is a great museum with real stagecoaches and fantastic western art. There are interesting artifacts and statues of bronze and other metals. It is is in downtown Cartersville near some very good restaurants.
Current exhibit of Quang Ho is amazing. Nice Remington exhibit. Overall, without special exhibits like those above, the Museum is an amazing place. Go visit. Good restaurants in Cartersville too.
Wonderful collection of Western art in a surprising location. Worth the trip.
Most of the pieces in yhe museum were created by more modern artists. There is some wonderful examples of paper sculptures and historical bead work.
This is a must see experience. Has the most western art in the country.
Today was my first visit to Booth Western Art Museum and it is truly a treasure! I went for the current Remmington Exhibit but loved all of the regular exhibits too as well as enjoying the Gift Shop and Cafe
Very impressive art museum, and the Warhol exhibit exceeded my expectations! A must see while it’s still around.
It's a large museum and it's full of Western Art. It's a lovely set up, lots of historical pieces as well as works by living artists.
One of the best museums I have ever seen.
Wonderful huge Western & Indian art. Special exhibits.Presidents portraits. Interesting stories.
Beautiful building and full of treasures. It is well worth time to spend a several hours visiting. Great museum.
Didnt even know about this wonderful history museum. It's a must. Went in a school trip. Will return with my family
Such a wonderful museum !
Attended with Allatoona Elementary 1st grades and the 'Read to Grow' volunteers (like me). I particularly liked all the bronze sculptures.
Can't wait to go back!
This is a must see, whether you are a western fan or not! What a treasure to experience Booth Western Museum. I will definitely return. Can't wait for my next visit!
Wonderful museum. Much bigger than I thought it would be.
Beautiful art museum in Cartersville,Ga. only a few hours from Atlanta. Worth the trip.
Who'da thunk there'd be a world class Western Art Museum in Cartersville? Very enjoyable visit. Try to catch the daily guided tour to learn more about the art.
Outstanding Museum that everyone should experience when they are in the neighborhood. It is also worth putting it on your agenda when visiting Atlanta.
Love that museum really friendly folks there you got time to be a real great place to go visit
This is an amazing museum! I not certain exactly what I was expecting. What I experienced was a walk through the history, culture, political changes, grit, determination and values that shaped most of the history that shaped our country. I am not normally this enthusiastic about a museum, but this is a must see. We were there for 2.5 hours, took the docent led tour and still only say about half of the exhibits. Definately going back.
An (almost) hidden gem. A destination type visit, so plan for half a day. Be sure to update your GPS app before you leave.
The whole family enjoyed our first visit. Great variety of art and all very inspiring. Once it was closing we felt a bit rushed to get out.
Eye - opening look at the old west through an amazing collection of art.
If you like to walk around and look at paintings, this is the place for you. Admission fee is high.
A GREAT place to go. Take the tour and learn a lot about the old west. Give yourself a couple of hours - lots to see.
Amazing art pieces and historical items. Great for young and old. Plus lower level has a kids learning play area. Wonderful field trip experience!
Knowledgeable staff, beautiful artwork displayed.... Very enjoyable!
I drove a whole hour to get here and it was well worth the trip . This place is HUGE with high quality exhibits. Tons of information. Prepare for 3 hour stay. It was a fun eye opening experience . Best museum I've been to.
I went there on a field trip recently, and it’s pretty nice place. Nice staff, learning opportunity, and it was fun. I went to see the civil war era, and they taught many people on the trip about what they used and what they did throughout the time of the trip as well.
Love this place!!! Tons of things to see, learn and the kids really enjoy it.
More than I expected. It was well worth it. We got lucky and the guided highlight tour was getting ready to start when we got there, which we did. Pat (the guide) was knowledgeable and made the trip more than just an ordinary museum trip.
