REVIEWS OF Atlanta History Center IN Georgia

William Ashley

Enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor exhibits. Be sure to go to the basement of swan house. Expect to spend 3-4 hours.

Mike Hill

Awsome experience very educational and Great place to get married!!!

Zed Star

My wife and I did the museum tour while on a short visit to Atlanta recently. Everything we saw was very interesting. The Swan House and Smith Family Farm were amazing. Just 12 bucks a head and worth every cent !

I3orrovv

For history buffs and researchers. There are some amazing things here.

David Greczylo

The admission fee is well worth it. If you are with someone else, do consider the membership option which makes sense. Schedule a time for the Cyclorama session. This massive painting was moved from Grant Park not too long ago. (Someone needs to inform Georgia DOT since the large sign on interstate 20 still says it’s in Grant Park!) It’s a sight to see and comes with a staff presentation. Including an explanation of how the hell Ret Butler wiggled his way into it. Leave time to walk the grounds if it’s not too hot. The exhibits are on point, but you may find yourself enchanted by the book store. There is a Souper Jenny Cafe which serves awesome soup. Brash coffee is also on there to give you a second wind.

Kristen Szewczyk Edwards

One of my favorite places to visit. MUST GO TO the Swan House for a tour. I can't believe I've lived in Atlanta all my life and it took until a few years ago to discover this gem. Amazing. Special exhibits are awesome too- Gone with the Wind currently.

Robot Booth

The Atlanta History Center is a great pick for your event no matter which location you choose on the property. One of our favorites is the stairs leading to the Swan house, which create a heart-meltingly beautiful backdrop for your most special day. The Grand Overlook is perfect for large events and gatherings, with gorgeous chandeliers and a spacious ballroom will cause that your guests to feel engulfed by elegance. No matter how many events we work on this property, we are always happy to come back again and again.

Frances Reyes

Great coffee and a good meeting place!

Phillip Cooley

Nice place with a variety of exhibits. I enjoyed the Civil war section.

Gary Standke

The museum itself is fine, but nothing special. The room on the Native Peoples was quite sparse with only about a dozen artifacts. The fantastic part of this place is the buildings in the back. The Smith Family Farm and Gardens has the farmhouse, live animals, kitchen building, wood shop, blacksmith shop, slave quarters. The Swan House is massive and fun to tour. There is suppose to be a Wood Family Cabin, but we have never found it and there are no signs telling you how to get there.

William Green

Atlanta History Center is a must see. The exhibits are outstanding and present a wonderful history of Georgia and Atlanta. Well designed and laid out. The Cyclorama is a must see. The gardens and grounds are well maintained beautifully laid out. Expect 3-4 hours in order to get a full experience.

Krishna Reddy

Great place for the family. The place is huge with lots to see. Highly recommended.

Jonathan Menger

Very beautiful grounds, and ideal event space. I have held several corporate events here and the facilities & services are perfect. The staff is very helpful in coordination, meals, and set up.

Rebekah Burgess

If you love the Hunger Games and historical houses, this place is for you! I was in awe! Love the Rolls Royce in front of the mansion! When I went, I got a private tour which blew my mind!

Bianca Lloyd-Gomez

I remember visiting here as a child, but there is much more than I remember. The actual center that has exhibits, a gift shop, cafeteria, and an event space. There's a really cool exhibit on the history of the Olympics and when they came to Atlanta in 1996. They also have the Swan House which is gorgeous inside and out but was most recently filmed for the Hunger Games Trilogy, which is pretty cool. There's also a farm and some little houses and gardens on the property. You will not make it through these exhibits or the property quickly so plan to at least spend 4-6 hours here. And wear comfortable shoes, there's several miles of walking.

Zaiah Calvin

My family and I really enjoyed the Atlanta History Museum. There were some really neat exhibits and some really amazing stories and artifacts! I loved the fact that they have the Swan House and Smith Family Farm as a part of the museum. I did feel like there could have been more in certain areas and that they could have delved deeper into much of the history of Atlanta. I wasn’t able to see the 360*? Part of the museum but will definitely go back to experience that! If you love Museum or don’t have a lot of experience with them this is a really good place to start!

Marty Danceva

Atlanta History Center is your go-to place if you want to know a lot about history of Atlanta. There are lots of cafeteria and food stalls around the area. I will visit this again.

Frank Chen

I have been visiting the museums all over the country and this is definitely one of the top ten. Not only because of its informative content, excellent curation, and interactive exhibitions, but also because its beautiful environment and the ecosystem with Swan House, Smith Farm, Souper Jonny, etc. It is a place you can spend the whole day but not feel boring. High recommend it.

Jess Kim

This place is the bee's knees! My first visits were for free lectures (with food!), which were informative, relaxed, and diverse. Next, I went for public gardens day, and the grounds are ahhh-mazing! They are well-kept, and the staff was very fun and shared fun facts. There are a variety of buildings and gardens from a reconstructed slave cabin to a barn where the goats do tricks to the gorgeous Swan House. The exhibits indoors were fun and interactive, while the food is well-sourced and very yummy. I take most of my out-of-town guests there if they're into history!

Henry Gracz

Acreage in the middle of Atlanta and loaded with artifacts of Atlanta History

fabrizio farsetti

Wonderful history center

Robert Fisher

Maybe a little too heavy on Civil War era and light on recent history, but still a must-see for anybody. They also frequently have great events.

Tom LaPorte

Greetings! Shaping Traditions is one of the many excellent exhibitions currently on display at the Atlanta History Center. The Center always takes care to provide in-depth information and artifacts with exhibitions. There’s a coffee shop and a fantastic restaurant on site. The staff is courteous and extraordinarily helpful. The History Center also provides a number of great lectures and book talks throughout the year.

Keith Whisler

I enjoyed it with my family

BELONG GTA

I liked it .

Benito Duke

We've visited this fantastic museum of Atlanta, Georgia, and Southern history many times over the decades and were even members when we last lived in the area over a decade ago. When we heard that the cyclorama was being moved here from its previous home in Grant Park, we looked forward to seeing it in its new home. It actually took several years for this move to be realized as the painting was in serious need of restoration and to display it properly an entire new wing had to be added to the museum. It finally opened earlier this year and as we were already planning to come to Atlanta for a visit this spring, decided now would be a great time to check it out.

Rebecca Barrett

I really like it. Lots to see and look at.

Ruben Ramos

Great place with a lot of thing to do- I had fun visiting the exhibitor- Nuevo-lution and Gatheround stories of Atlanta

Alena Golopuz

Great place!! We enjoyed our walk a lot. The place is quite spacious, plan at least 2 hours for your visit. Parking is provided for free

I AM GODDESS t.v.

Nice history

Ron Loines

I'm a member & love this place.

Scott Godwin

The history center has been “converged” like the Episcopal church, the Boy Scouts, and many other organizations. In other words it has been taken over by “progressive” activists with an agenda. Sad to see such a promising organization turn into a sad display of radical left- wing propaganda. Orwellian and embarrassing.

albybrava

Great place for kids, if you don't mind them being indoctrinated...the Smith Farm docents were more concerned with "tax evasion" (huh?) of a 19th Century local farmers, income inequality (I can't even...), of course the omnipresent guilt of being white and therefore owning slaves (um...only 7-10% owned slaves), and the even more curious lecture on the work habits of 19th C.middle class white women adding up to nothing more than menu planning. Laughable if not wholly ridiculous. A mere passing acquaintance of women's history would debunk this last, insulting and...dare I say...arrogant claim of the millennials giving the tour. Sad to see how the once great Atlanta History Center has fallen.

Erika Withers

The Swan House, the Smith Family Farm, the cabin, the play houses (2!), the wooded trails and the center itself with all of its exhibits can make for a full day of fun and learning. There's also a restaurant and a café. Wear your walking shoes when you visit.

Diane Giordano

Lots of new exhibits.

Simon Pythoud

Very great experience discovering the history about Atlanta, the native American and the Civil War. Plus, the restaurant offers delicious salads.

Luke F

Very cool!

Gopaulz Zabodyn

My school group loved it.

Maurice Ynclan

Exhibits were okay and day of the dead event was nice. Unfortunately the Univision host had no clue what was going on. Her ability to present and share information about the event was an absolute joke. The Catarina contest was terribly done again due 5o the Univision host. She attempted to translate the things going on but maybe share 10% or less of the actual meaning. And to top it all off she arrive over 30 minutes late to the event at that point why bother? Will not attend again. Oh and also bring some earplugs music reached decibels levels to match being at an outdoor shooting range.

Kimberly Redd

Great place!!

Janell Morgan

After purchasing my ticket I was told to start at the Swan House, it was closed for filming, Smith Family Farm closed for a school group. Very disappointing and obvious lack of communication within the museum.

De'Jah Wright

It was really good. Day of the dead festival was nice.

Wallace Vaughan

Outstandingly well done, very tasteful. Fantastic building.

Harold Smith

Very nice Museum.

Patti Stam

Thoroughly enjoyed. Vietnam Exhibit is impressive. Beautiful buildings

brandon jeffrey

Everything was great!!!! The staff is excellent on giving you information. The bathrooms were SUPER clean.

Jose Oriol Lopez Berengueres

This museum is one of the best historical recreations with live human volunteers that pose as characters of the 1867 year. Meet the architect of the mansion and try a real ford T

Jesse Joyner

The Atlanta History Center has the best exhibits. It has the BEST Civil War collection I have ever seen. As a historical reenactor I have seen many. The two houses are wonderful living histories. I in almost 20 years have never had a bad experience when visiting the Atlanta History Center.

Hadi Saeidi Manesh

Nice place to visit in Atlanta.

Carl Holt

Great exhibits about the history of Atlanta. The 1996 Olympic exhibit was top notch. Civil war, Indians, and development of Atlanta exhibits. Antebellum farm house, civil war re-enactors, & farm outside.

Sherry Shuter

We got here late and only paid half price since the homes were closed. But we had access to the main museum and it was nice. The gift shop has a lot of books. And we did not eat at the cafe but walked through it was a nice home setting.

Scarlett Bittle

BEST PLACE EVER. just make sure to go on a saturday or something since on Sunday it opens at 12 so you don't have as much time...they have so much it's awesome

Belinda Smith

You can easily spend an entire afternoon here. There is a lot to learn about the history of Atlanta. I especially like the exhibit on Atlanta and the Olympics. Do not pass up an opportunity to get a tour of the Swan House. It is fantastic! I had the opportunity to go to a Great Gatsby party at the Swan House and it was so much fun! Tip: part of the Bank of America free museums on the first weekend of the month. Check out the Atlanta History Center's Party with the Past events for free tours of historical places all around Atlanta!

Joshua Sass

The place is very good however the parking attendants are a bunch of idiots who are extremely rude & Unprofessionally ! There is a circle for the entrance that is a drop off & pickup area NOT a parking area for the restaurant ! This is how they work over here. Had a charter bus & 2 mini buses - was told by Andrew Chambliss ( parking security/attendant) the cars are only gonna be 20 mins - here it is 30 mins to 45 mins later and pouring down rain my group comes. Now they are being inconvenienced because of these parking attendants, some in the group are disabled . It is not fair that these folks can make up any rule they want and have seniors get soak and wet & have too walk when there is a front entrance !

Rajeev Saxena

The restored cyclorama diorama is a must see for history buffs.

Jose Martinez

Georges views, very serene place

Elijah Wright

Great history, and beautiful gardens.

Warren Jones

Worth a visit if you've never been. Sure way to kill a Saturday afternoon.

Jonathan Whichard

Went there for third day of opening of Fully restored cyclorama. That was amazing in itself. However the History museum is a learning experience and is well worth the time. The restaurant/ soup etc is very good. Staff well informed and helpful. Explore every part. You'll need a good two-three hours to really experience it. Note Be sure to watch the brief film just outside the cyclorama exhibit that shows how they reinstalled and moved the giant painting and other pieces of the cyclorama to the new location.

Jane Salavec

Friendly helpful staff. Room is spacious and clean. Lots of area to walk my dog. Totally recommend this hotel.

Jeffrey Terry

Had a totally magical day here with the family. We spent the entire day and only experienced perhaps 70% of it - there is a LOT to do and see. The quality was excellent - we learned so much about the civil war and also the Atlanta area. Parking was free and we ended up eating a very yummy lunch at the cafe inside the building. Worth every penny - this was definitely a highlight of our recent Atlanta trip.

Kraze Kreighton

Nice slice of history.

Simon Robson

Well worth the drive from anywhere!!! Cyclorama is absolutely stunning along with the history of the battle. History center has many galleries including folk art and bar-b-que as will as a steam engine. Be sure to go to the quarry gardens, historic farm and especially the swan house. You can spend 4-6 hours here easily. Have some of there famous soup and sandwiches. Good parking.

Susan Choquette

The museum itself was nice and the Cyclorama is an amazing piece of art. I saw it 54 years ago at Grant's Park I liked that presentation more than the new way. There was a snippy young man at the information booth who informed us dogs are not allowed but I had called ahead and cleared it, service dogs are ok. This young man continued to glare at us, it was unnerving. When we got upstairs security came over and said David had to remove his MAGA hat or leave! He did neither but the incident spoiled the experience. A museum about a war fought for freedom yet they wanted to dictate over a hat. Disgusting, we won't be going back.

Bridget Delaney

Amazing place!

Neffiteria Acker

I went here on a field trip and although I enjoyed it, my students are academically low, so they didn't understand the terminology being used.

Wendy Robinson

The Atlanta History Center has many different exhibits you can take part in. We experienced the Cherokee Trail of Tears. Our guide, Morris, was wonderful. Our journey was interactive and very informative. The gift shop/eatery is expensive and not very kid friendly.

Mark Sjurseth

Love this place. One of the best history centers in the South. Buy a membership and go a bunch of times... You'll need time to see everything. They also have historical buildings on the property such as the Swan House and Tulie Farm. Admission is a little steep, but check online for special days/times when it's half-off or free.

Anne Woodworth

The new cyclorama display was great!

Samantha Hunt

Had a good time with a great person.

Rajan Raju

A superb interactive informative museum-the sections for Atlanta and the Civil War are simply awesome! Well thought of exhibits engage and immerse you - a few hours felt like few minutes! Unfortunately, the houses weren't open today, but we had a tremendous time at the Center. The cafe is also great. Definitely, a must do for visitors to Atlanta!!

Crystal Parten

I took a group of AP US History students to the AHC yesterday and we had the best time. We did the Civil War Guided Tour with our guide - Felicia Wheeler. She was so energetic and had the right combination of pop culture, history and child development knowledge to really hook the kids and keep them interested throughout the presentations. Chick-Fil-A delivered our lunch right on time and it was all accurate and we had a picnic on the grounds of the amphitheater. We then broke into groups and explored the campus for a few hours. I made a scavenger hunt using "GooseChase" for them to do while exploring the AHC and that really helped keep them focused on looking at and learning new things. I will definitely take an other groups as this trip was seamless!

Lee Satterfield

Always a fun/interesting time. Great/special traveling exhibits.

Susan Bachman

Had a great time with my family here! My husband especially loved it, but it's not for everyone.

Janet T

I just spent 6 hours there and could have spent more. The Civil War exhibit alone is worth the price of admission . The only complaint is that Swan House closes at 4, an hour earlier than the museum. No one told me so I went there last, at 4:02. Very irritating. Why close so early? I feel cheated.

Jim Goddard

A very interesting museum covering various aspects of Atlanta history. Their civil war exhibit is extensive but they also cover lots of other topics.

jessica owens

Pretty cool place.

Jason Peter

Nice place . Wedding reception of my Nephews wedding was held here. It was grand

Jason Mello

Very nice!We will go back plenty to see.

Georgia Peach

So much to see.. can't wait to go back

Eb Daniels

I've been visiting the Atlanta History Center since I was a child and have reviewed it positively before, but its steady decline over the past decade has necessitated a revision of that review (and my decision to not renew my membership for a 10th year). While the Atlanta History Center remains a premier repository for Atlanta history, that history is no longer presented in a way which I feel is helpful or educational for visitors. Most of the exhibits are presented inconclusively and without substance; a smattering of random items with terse identifying placards. Where fuller contextualization is given, it is usually hopelessly pedantic and reductive. Interpreters and docents know bland, memorized scripts, but little else, unless one is lucky and able to find some of the few employees who seem to have a genuine love of history. One the whole, one feels as though the History Center has embraced a new business model centered around convenience and flash - a few objects artfully arranged with some moralizing sermons for effect. The Center now seems only concerned with two things: providing a venue for weddings and being able to sell itself as a "public good" where school children can be presented with a superficial introduction to history. A few of the permanent exhibits are an exception to this rule, and there is some value in being able to tour the impressive historic buildings on the campus, but they do not outweigh the cost of admission. Instead of visiting the Atlanta History Center, I would encourage history-oriented tourists to instead tour the local county history centers, the statuary, portraits, and museum at the Georgia State Capitol, and Historic Oakland Cemetery. They have just as much history, and in far more pleasant settings.

Good

Gregory Ruff

A beautiful and informative place

Megan Schmidt

This was a very interesting place to visit! The exhibits were put together very nicely and full of information. The building itself was beautiful and well kept. The grounds were breath taking and so worth sweating your buns off to see. The Swan House was my favorite stop, so picturesque and made you feel like you took a step back in time. My friends favorite part was the farmstead. She enjoyed the actors portraying the family and the animals made it seem so realistic. Overall, such a fun place to stop and visit. Worth every penny. My only disappointment, as a tourist, was the small gift shop.

Doug Piette

We thoroughly enjoyed all of the exhibits we went to. The Texas locomotive was restored perfectly and the information about it and "The Great Chase" was great. They even had a "engineer" in the cab telling about it and answering questions. The cyclorama depicting the Battle of Atlanta was restored wonderfully. My only complaint is that the presentation was almost totally about the history of the painting. It was good, but I miss the history lesson of the Battle of Atlanta that I heard as a boy when it was at Grant Park. I wish they had options for two different presentations; history of the painting, and history of the Battle. The Civil Was exhibit was the best I've seen. There was so much information. Be sure to get the free headsets so you can listen to extra information. The Swan House is so interesting to go through. Be sure to find a docent and ask questions; you will learn so much more. The Tully Smith House and other buildings were also well done. Note also that all of the items in this house are "touch friendly". We didn't have time to see the other exhibits, so we need to go back. The Margaret Mitchell House is also included in the price of admission and you have 9 days to go see it. Again, everything in this museum is so well done, interesting, and educational.

S Washington

This was my first visit. Bank of America card holders get in for free during the first weekend of every month. The view of garden from the top floor of the Swan house is amazing. I learned a lot of things during my visit. Took a lot of pictures as well. I will be visiting again next month!

Denny Lee

Great place for the family. The place is huge with lots to see. Highly recommended.

Patricia Hurst

Fun and informative. Helpful staff and clean museum.

Sara Li-Young

What a great education about Atlanta visitors gain here. So well done, they don't sugarcoat things. I really enjoyed the way this museum was put together. So thoughtful. Wonderful experience.

Q Lane

The Atlanta History center is full of amazing pieces from the city's past. Be sure to take an entire day to experience all that the center has to offer. The Swan House takes you back in time to the 1930's and the Smith farm takes you back to life during the civil war. There is so much to learn about the history of Atlanta that it can seen overwhelming. Here's a tip: entry into the history center is free the first full weekend of the month if you are a Bank of America card holder!!!

William Haun

Brought my three-yr-old and it was a bit over his head. However, he loved the Muppets exhibit.

Jeremy Chamberlain

Awesome event venue

Jimmy B

Really cool place.

Victor Anaya

The way the facility is set up with the collectables and interactive stations was great. The chairs on the 4D film were really rough and you get tossed around a lot. Walked out with a back ache so do be aware of that as they have non moving chairs.

Leigh Joseph

Amazing museum, we wasted our time at World of Coca Cola before we were recommend this museum. Interesting exhibits on the Civil War, Bobby Jones and one on BBQ and its rich history. Even the Cafe was great. Uber trip also takes you pass the beautiful homes of Buckhead.

Brian Slater

I learned so much about Atlanta here! Everything from the fire of Atlanta, civil rights, the civil war and even Barbeque! We didn't get to the Swan House because we ran out of time, so we will be back again some time to finish the tour.

Lester Thula Gooden

Love the interactive teaching of history

Tara Ford

We really enjoyed the "living history" experience with the actors that told stories in the Gatheround section. Don't let the small size of the exhibit areas fool you - there is a lot to see! And the cafe area has the freshest menu with flavorful soups and salads.

D. Knapp

A fantastic place, if you are interested in Atlanta's history! The exhibitions are very informative, and I am sure visitors of all ages will Love them. We went there last Sunday and we enjoyed every Minute of it. The Gatheraround exhibition is the perfect overview of Atlanta, the Civil War part ist highly informative and the BBQ Nation exhibition was a real blast. We are already looking forward to bring our friends there!

Beautiful venue

Chris Hardesty

Great place. You could easily spend a couple days here, so membersip is the way to go and be able to visit gardens at different times of the year.

Vicki Bitter

Gorgeous Spring excursion in Atlanta with the ability to explore and enjoy both the grounds and the houses on your own and at your leisure. So peaceful that you forget you are right in the middle of downtown.

Brett Walker

Historical

Jeff Simpson

Excellent, definitely worth the time.

Blanche Henderson

The Cyclorama was the highlight of our visit. It is beautifully restores and has quite a history of its own. There are many exhibits that have nothing to do with the Civil War, and because of the broad range, there is something for everyone. We also toured the Swan House, which was an unescorted walk-through. They have a small brochure, but it would have been helpful if they had information in each room. Without an escort, it is just an old beautiful house, a tour guide would be able to bring the house and the people who lived there to life. Be sure to make time for lunch at the Swan House Restaurant. It was very good food in a traditional southern tearoom style. We continued on the Margaret Mitchell house, which we enjoyed, and our tour guide Jonathan was very enthusiastic about Margaret Mitchell and Gone With the Wind. He did bring the Mitchell house to life. We would recommend visiting all places while in Atlanta.

Amanda James

Chef for the wedding

John Keller

Nice place to learn about Atlanta and it's history. Many parts of the Atlanta story are covered, though none really in depth. The Smith Farm and the Swan House are probably the best parts of the museum.

Monica Dustin

I was very disappointed with the civil war 360 picture not on display, but the rest was high class. There must have been a different way for handicap to Swan House but we went though the museum which wasn’t a good idea.

J. S. LEE

Great place to visit and learn the history of Atlanta.

Richard Hayden

A pleasant surprise, one of the best museums in the country in a ritzy neighborhood... Tyler Perry's in the hood.

Ashley Taylor

We have been several times for homeschool day. They always have great activities. Their staff are very knowledgeable. Their farm and the Swan House are interesting and beautiful. Great place to visit.

Amanda Jones

Awesome Adventure! I definitely recommend!

Ray Greg

Awesome exhibits related to Atlanta and Georgia history. This is a must see for visitors and locals alike.

joshua martin

Exceeded my expectations by a landslide. Budgeted 3 hours but could have spent all day there.

Ashley Scott

Lots of interesting information about the history of the city and the role its played as one of, if not the central city of the south.

Dionne Allen

I had A WONDERFUL time. The ushers and volunteers were friendly and helpful. The entire place was clean, open, informative and appealing. Bringing more people along next time!

curatorss

Amazing exhibits!

Andrew Landis

Really enjoyed the chance to learn more about Atlanta and how it has been shaped over time (positively and negatively). There is quiet the wide array of exhibits to engage into. The cyclorama was a first. It was more interesting and impressive than I anticipated.

Broken Hart

A quiet treasure in the heart of Buckhead.

Noah Burke

I was blown away by the sheer amount of activities to do here. The Swan House, nature trails, 7 exhibits, Olympic Museum, Cyclorama, Tullie Plantation, Cabin and play houses dotted across the property. Definitely plan at least 3-4 hours to be able to experience all that is offered here.

Alberto Nicanor Rosario Mendez

A place to learn more about Atlanta's history. Should be visited if one has the chance

Paul Beezley

Enjoyable and interesting. Extensive campus including the Swan House (featured in Hunger Games and a great wedding venue)

John O'Kane

Extraordinary collection of artifacts with well- displayed exhibits accompanied by interesting and enlightening text summaries. The Civil War gallery was a fabulous and unique perspective. The culture and history of Atlanta area was most informative. A not to be missed museum for history lovers.

Jon Vance

Great museum but a bit pricey

ifelaju lat

This is a must see.

Pat Gordon

Exciting to see how the cyclrama exhibit is coming along

Larmeka Arnold

The Atlanta History Museum is a wonderful place to visit and get a small glimpse into the development and experiences of some events and people of Atlanta. This location is in the Buckhead Community. They open promptly at 10 AM. This location offers a barista and a cafe for coffee and snacks/lite lunch. There is also a gift shop that offers items to purchase from some local retailers. Come and learn something about a thriving city. Welcome To Atlanta.

Thomas F

I never expected so much from the Atlanta History Center. The grounds are beautiful, and the staff is so helpful. Thanks Cody for all he did at the front desk to explain the Center.

Jay Wells

Very interesting exhibits, especially the folk arts.

Paul Morgan

HISTORIC!!

Brandi Converse

Loved it!!!

Jörgen Göransson

Terrible entrance fee policy. We went to the Margret Michel House and they asked if we was going to the History Center whith in 9 days, we didn't think we would have time so was asked for $24 entrance fee. In the afternoon we found time to go to History Center and paid another $33, here we also got tickets for the House included. Felt totaly robbed of $24. The Center was a bit strange with different pavilions an we did not get a good grasp of the timelines or meening of things, guess You need a lot of knollege about american history to realy enjoy it, not so much for tourists.

James Hines

Excellent This is something that Atlanta should be proud of.

Steven Stavich

A fantatic museum. The Turning Point Civil War museum is one of the finest that I have been to. There are numerous ways (i.e., self-guided, audio, etc.) to enjoy it. There are many other fine exhibits as well as traveling exhibits. The Swan House is a must see. A 1920s era mansion. The Smith Farm is also always an enoyable experience. They plan to open additional areas with the Texas locomotive (of the Great Locomotive Chase fame) and the Cyclorama. I was able to tour these today in a behind the scenes fashion and they will be exquisite additions. My family and I have been members for multiple years. They have numerous great events a year and the staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We worth the time to visit.

Go Getta

So amazing

Simon Rimmer

Such a great venue for a wedding or an event!

Nushrat Humaira

Actual location is veteran park .The address on google map will take you to a different location if you use GPS, even further than swan house. You can park on the side of road and walk back to find actual location. I used student ID so my admission cost $18 which includes indoor exhibit, farm outside and margaret mitchell house for 9 days. Exhibits include old atlanta history since foundation, melting pot of cultures in atlanta and some new exhibition every month like American BBQ tradition, Mexican heritage. The farm outside includes sheep, chicken coop , old smokehouse. The garden includes a trail connected to swan house.

Ron Kopelman

Excellent place to visit. Lots of galleries exhibiting the history of Atlanta and its people.

James Trappio Jr

I work there

Felicia Moore

YAS LORD!!!!! I love HISTORY and HERSTORY!!!!

I worked a wedding it was beautiful

Sierra Pritchard

There's seven exhibits in the main museum that focus primarily on different aspects of Georgia History. There's also three historic houses on the property as well: The Swan House, The Smith Family Farm and Wood Family Cabin. In addition there's also 22-acres of gardens outside as well. All of this is included in the general admission for $21.50 for adults and $18 for students/seniors, and $9 for kids 12-4. Tickets after 3:45 are half priced but you will not be able to see the historic houses as those close at 4 everyday.

Brittany Price

This is a great field trip for elementary students. Both times we have seen the Civil Rights exhibit and students love it.

The Atlanta History Center is an excellent place to visit. There are several galleries exhibiting the history of Atlanta and its people. They showcase everything right from handicrafts to military arms from the American civil war. Behind the museum consists of the historic houses. My favourite was the Swan house. There are exhibits of how people lived in those times.

The Atlanta History Center comprises a decent sized museum building, a log cabin, a farm, and the Swan House on site. It also includes the Margaret Mitchell house out in Midtown. The museum exhibits are really well curated and unlike other period homes you are encouraged to interact with many of the historical objects in the outbuildings. There are also volunteers on the main property dressed and acting in period accurate way. A pretty nice little historical site.

Great venue and event tonight. Beverly Tatum was a pleasure to hear speak about her book!
