REVIEWS OF The Wolfsonian-Florida International University IN Florida

Norm Gilbert

Fabulous and eclectic museum dedicated to Art Deco in all its forms from furniture to art to appliances to textiles. Not to be missed if your are an art deco fan. Don’t miss the gift shop.

Dea Welsh

While it is a very neat museum, the collection is relatively small. Which could be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. If you want a drop all day immersive museum, this is probably not what you're looking for. However, if you want a relatively quick, interesting, and different excersion, this could be right up your alley. Their gift shop/coffee shop is very neat! Some different items than a number of the museum shops I've been in lately (though definitely of the same theme). And the coffee shop is a nice twist. I think it could be a fun little place to read or meet a friend.

Mark Tanko

There is a special floor dedicated to Art Deco. Nice place to visit

Alex Granier

Great museum. Great exhibits. Free on Fridays after 6 pm

Brenda Star

Fabulous Museum, A lot to enjoy

Carlos Roa

Spectacular museum. A must if you visit Miami Beach.

Danielle Brady

Can't beat their collection. One of my favorite museums to go to.

Nina Krauss

An absolute treasure in a vapid wasteland of a neighborhood. Exhibition design perfection in a small but flawless collection.

Rick Meleady

Interesting place to see. I think it's a little over priced like everything else in Miami Beach. Nothing amazing but everything interesting.

Mez Pahlan

Awesome Art Deco museum. Really interesting for history of art buffs. Seven floors actually turned out to be five, but enjoyed it nevertheless.

d gallacher

Excellent collection of Art Deco and Arts and Crafts pieces from The United State as well as UK and other countries. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Miami Beach.

Joe O

An interesting exhibit of art deco influences

Joe Gibbs

Awesome Place To Check Out !

Adam Bowie

A really wonderful museum, housed within a wonderful building. There are a wide range of art deco objects on display, including some fine posters from the period. Really worth seeing to place in context alongside the art deco buildings elsewhere in Miami Beach.

Allison Tobias

I found this exhibit pretty expensive for its size. When I went there was only one floor open and it costed 12$ for entry.. there were a few cool pieces though. The gift shop was very interesting and I found some neat stuff.

Wayne Morra

Wonderful Art-Deco Museum. Try to start on the 7th floor and work your way down. Hour to 2. Tilted toward commercial, industrial applications, furniture and appliances. Great collection of Italian scarf designs also featured.

Paul Logan

Cool art deco museum.

Doug Duwenhoegger

Very cool museum that covers the History of Art Deco. Lots of vintage items.

Sylvia Worrell

...a stunning cultural jewel worthy of several visits.

Dipjyoti Deb

Worth spending time. 45 min is good.

Donna Randle

Lots of very high quality items for sale in the shop and there is a coffee shop for your convenience. Air conditioning for those hot Miami days. Well worth a visit.

Island Vacation Travel Agency

Oh this was amazing visiting. The tour guide was knowledgeable and in my opinion not bias. He spoke of the beginning of ships. Well not the beginning but as far as there were images and itineraries from old cruises. Amazing to see what wowed people

Maddy Mccomb

I came on a Friday night, as every Friday night from 6-9 PM the Wolfsonian is FREE! It is so much more than an art museum, as in addition to paintings, there are all kinds of random artifacts, including even antique household items, and other objects from the daily lives of people in the past dating as far back as 1850. The gift shop has very interesting items as well. It is not a good place for young kids, as they would probably be bored, and would not be able to observe silence, but anyone with an interest in art or history museums should not be disappointed. As with most of Miami Beach, there is no free parking in the vicinity, but that is not the museum's fault. I will definitely return.

Christopher Edwards

Lovely art deco collection that has incorporated works from the 1920s through the 1940s into exhibits as well as architectural accents. They have temporary exhibits as well that add flavor to the already extensive museum. We saw the entire facility in 2.5 hours, some may take less time depending on how much you read about the pieces. If you're interested in the design of South Beach's iconic look, stop in and learn more. Gift shop is expensive, but they have a nice coffee bar inside with delightful employees.

Vi L

My daughter and I used Google maps to help us get to the Wolfsonian, it took us straight to it. Upon entering you immediately come head on with a gorgeous full size sculpture and art work. We were enthralled by the beautiful Art Exhibit and furniture and electrical gadgets from by gone times. I wanted to stay in the elevator itself longer than we had to. Gargoyle head on each side, it looked like it belonged from a different era or a Scarry movie. We stopped at their very cool Cafe/Gift Shop on the way out for a delicious Macchiato.Loved it!

Great Place

Chris Erickson

This is a great little museum with an eclectic collection of different Art Deco and modern Italian art.

Martin Tsang

A wonderful place, go check out the current Cuban exhibition on Conrado Massaguer!

Jeremis Entabli

Isabel, the tour guide at 6 o'clock (free entry btw) was very expressive, very knowledgeable and engaged the crowd... Definitely recommending the tour with her

Art Deco Tours

Great museum about design. Now showing Mass Market Art Deco and Italian Textile Art Deco

Michelle Jones

It is an awesome museum to visit. There are many things to see and the exhibits are clear.

Екатерина Манина

A very nice local museum. It has exhibits on several floors, some are closed for renovation though. There is a collection of communist propaganda, which properly kept: looks as if it was printed yesterday. Pay attention to the ceiling because it does look gorgeous. The elevator is also worth looking at. The museum is free on Fridays. In addtion, it has a charming little giftshop.

Amanda McManus

A very interesting museum! They specialize in Soviet Propoganda and they also have household items from different eras on display. You don't see exhibitions like this in other museums. I think this might be a hidden gem, because we were the only people there for a while, and then only two more families came. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because there was a whole floor that was closed, and one of the floors was just the lobby to the closed library with one glass case with journals.

Jenilee Tuitt

Really cool collection! The 4th floor collection was really cool. Awesome pieces from the middle of the century and early 20th century as well. The textile floor is also really interesting.

Erik Ebright

Fun collection of art and design from the archives of planet Earth.

Andy Bryant

Such a gem. We spent a couple hours and were very happy with it.

Warren Agetees

Great museum. Visually stunning both in the collection and the building itself. Only drawback was the surly and uncommunicative kid that was working the front ticket booth. What a bad first impression!

Melodie Brown

Simply beautiful

David Udin

If you like art deco you'll love this place. A good-sized, representative collection of art deco furniture, furnishings, appliances, architectural decorations, and so on.

Giacomo Lanzoni

Superb little museum. Art deco, industrial design and Miami Beach history are a staple of this museum. They frequently organize excellent exhibits.

George Stevens

Well worth a visit. Perhaps the most profound impact of any museum we visited in Miami.

Murry Tawil

Great tour

Antonio Stura

Considering Miami Beach is such an iconic spot for Art Deco the exhibition is good but too small. I takes longer to wait fo the elevator than to see the library floor exhibition.

Pat Pending

Interesting museum. Nice to be away from the tourist hustle

Tigre Blanco

Located on South Beach. Parking is available on the street or in nearby public lots. There is a gift shop on the first floor. Bathrooms are available. Check for days when the entrance is free. There are several restaurants and coffee shops in the area. This is a great museum with several floors full of exhibitions. Antique furniture, historical pieces, and art prints being displayed. Check the website to see what is currently being displayed. Great place for families, dates, and educational purposes.

Maria Ayub

Intellectual stimulation in the heart of Miami Beach, this place puts things in perspective.

Travis Copeland

Surprisingly large museum with an amazing collection. Free on Friday nights! Great gift shop, too!

David Walton

Close to our hotel and did not overpower you with massive amounts of information. Bog enough to make an interesting trip. Allow about two hrs.

Bryn Warner

Incredible museum with some very interesting pieces that make you view industrialism in a whole new light!

Renee Molina

Nice place to learn abot the beginning of the industrial era on the 20's.

Paul Karas Sr

Terrific small museum. I enjoyed it a lot.

Püdn Hart

I loved it here. The exhibits were very well thought out. I only wish there was more of a permanent exhibit in place. I could spend all day in an art deco museum, but I understand why museums here would get tired of that. The museum store was also an attraction in itself.

Burton Maben

Love it.

Roko Bay

Interesting, excellent smallish museum. Recommended for those already interested in design.

Moses Acosta

Very impressive art on display, recommend a visit

Konstantin Mishchenko

Very interesting. One of the most stylish museums in the world ...

Daniel Bejarano

Classic, modern, and superb furniture pieces

Anthony Figueroa

Cool place to learn about Art Deco and the history. Maybe takes an hour or 2 to go through the whole museum.

Jakub Królikowski

A lovely place of art and contemplation. The museum of art deco is a breathtaking place, which gives you a perfect mixture of art, things of daily use back in the days, and actual historical information. I highly recommend this place to all art lovers.

Enrique Valdes

Nice museum that is very reasonably priced. I think it is only $5.

Shane Richardson

Great museum of design and art. Excellent shop with small restaurant and coffee bar. Sad to see that their roof leaks, making it impossible to keep the whole collection protected, but it really is a nice place. Free on Friday after 3.

Toni Holm

Ever changing exhibits of the most of beautiful everyday objects thoughout the past century.

Amy Kutell

This unique museum houses a wide variety of everyday objects, paintings and sculptures. Well worth a visit!

Aleksandr Gavrilov

Fabulous museum - small but mighty. Exhibits appeal to all ages and are extremely interesting. Good little store too.

Luba B

I was surprised at the quality and the volume of this collection. Did not expect anything extraordinary but this was a great place to visit. The sketching pop up every last Friday of the month is a very nice touch.

Joseph Boggs

Enjoyed this place very much. Lots of unique Art Deco art and design. Took me about 1.5 hours to complete

Aaron Paschke

Outstanding museum if you’ve got 45 min -1hr to kill. Admission is free on Fridays after 5pm, otherwise it is 10$ per person.

C N

This is the best museum in Miami! They have a wonderful and unique collection. The staff is very friendly too.

eduardo farias

I loved it, very beautiful and conserved, a small museum for a quick visit

Jitendra Singh

The museum is really nice. It shows so many things about the industrial era of the past and makes you appreciate what you have today. The collector shop is a bit costly.

Yuriy Kudinov

Great museum. Wonderful museum shop. And entrance free on Friday nights

Charles Donnelly

Be sure to stop by on a Friday night between 6-9 for free admission! Yes free in Miami! Its fun and educational yet relaxed. Bring the kids, there is a lot to do. Great shop with a fun coffee bar

kin lee

Great collection, nice building, toilet on every floor!!!! Really like the collections they have on show (Modern Dutch Design). Make sure you take the stairs too, really beautiful and nicely detailed stairwell!

Steven Pegelow

On Fridays from 6-9, the museum is free. Therefore, if you’re in South Beach, it’s worth stopping in. The exhibits are interesting and the view from the 6th floor of South Beach is a pleasant surprise.

Alixae Bell

What a beautiful venue and with different management. Had the opportunity to work with this venue on a festival and it was a pleasure. If you're visiting Miami you must visit this museum. Such an art selection they have!

Alyson Brown

Wow! What a great museum! The art deco stuff was so so cool and the gift shop cafe was such a great dark little spot to hang on a rainy day!

jessica monaco

very nice, personal collection. some Miami connection.

Amazing place to discover!

Sarafina L.

A paradise for 20th century history and art lovers alike.

Darren S

Family friendly, host kids activities from time to time.

Barbara Escarra

Interesting place

Christopher Chance

I'm not much of an admirer of art, but I do like history. This place was described to me as a propaganda museum which led me to believe it was like war time propaganda. But that's not really what the focus was. The focus was more of Cuban-American relations through history. So this wasn't really what I expected. However, I have no doubt that there are lots of people that would appreciate it. For it not being what I expected, I'm giving it 4/5 stars. It was free to get in on Friday evening which was nice.

R R

Transcendent. How to express how entirely worthwhile it is to step into this place and behold its geniusly curated works, so many treasures so eloquently and lovingly situated?

Linda Stine

This was a lovely surprise in the heart of South Beach! A quiet, artful santuary . Highly recommended!

jackie cuervo

Great tour of the permanent collection on Friday night. Also enjoyed the current exhibit of Soviet era propaganda posters. Last year I saw Bernice Abbott’s photographs taken along Route 1. This museum is a gem.

James Rudnick

Great exhibits of the applied / practical arts from 1850 - 1950. (no plastic!)

Daniel Russo

Inspirational!

Ellen Schaefer

We enjoyed the Wolfsonian. It gave a nicer detail about art deco and had several floors of exhibits. The staff was willing to answer all questions.

Ivette Palacin

Intro film sets up goal of collector and museum. Driving force for collection is all that the industrial revolution created to make modern lives more interesting and efficient. Wolfson notes his collection and personal interest are contrary to what comes from nature; he is steadfastly fascinated by that which man creates for enjoyment. Period is 1920s through art deco and beyond

James Thompson

Eclectic and quirky, plus revolving exibits on upper floors. It's a design museam with an odd collection which I completely enjoyed.

Jill Hawks

Happened upon this place on accident on a rainy day and it was worth it!

Erika Gonzalez-Lima

This museum is interesting for people wanting to learn more about art deco.

Alejandro Cuba Ruiz

This museum is a marvel. The cofee shop is one of the best in town.

Aeron Knutson

We took our daughter for family event and enjoyed making art and finding all the images on the map through the exibit. Went in expecting to see a small private collection. It was nicely displayed.

steven Rosner

It's hardly" the one of the kind" museum, they proclaim. I've seen such exhibits,at modern art or history museums, many times before my recent visit to;The Wolfsonian. At best, they present their exhibits,a little differently.

Jerry Henneman

It was okay but not as well rounded as I expected.

Tibor Kaldor

Wonderful varied artifacts from the 20th century in a memorable art deco style...

Nishant Tare

Rare collection and a go go place that is actually rare to be found on a location famous for having a great ocean drive.

felix ascona

Historic place, history museum

Daniel Pirkl

Great propoganda exhibit! Fair warning: they close down fifteen minutes earlier than listed time.

上原繁夫

The nice design products.

Gerson Souza

Must see for art deco lovers and a great way to take a break from the hot Miami weather.

Sebastien L.

The stars are for the service only. The museum is very dark and boring. Not for children. My 5 year old wanted to leave and she likes art!

Querino Prado Flores Junior

Beaultfull place, very good!

Paul Johnson

Fascinating place. If you are into Art Deco is a must see. Only takes about an hour to cover whole place.

Michael Rees

Some interesting art and sculptures. Poor facilities for conference. Coffee shop was quite good and staff were friendly all around. Location makes it an easy spot to visit while in South Beach.

Karl Bernard

Great museum. Especially if you're into Art Deco.

stefano ciotti

Amazing museum. Modern art and culture in a small but perfect place.

Gonzalo Battaglia

One of the few museums in Miami that still has a historic art collection. Even the Lowe and the Bass have abandoned their collection in favor of only contemporary art. This is a hidden jewell in South Beach featuring art and design on the modern age (1850 - 1950). Also a beautiful Cafe for a meal though it is a bit overpriced.
