Such a fun place to add to your itinerary when visiting Saint Pete. If you’re a baseball fan, you’ll love the baseball memorabilia. Great artifacts and interesting pieces.
Love the Cuba photos intersting collection. Not much information on art work
Writing this review to highly recommend the St. Pete Museum of History as a wonderful venue to have a wedding, or any special event. We had our wedding ceremony, and reception in the flight gallery, and cocktail hour in the museum exhibits, and it was perfect! Amy was such a pleasure to work with, and went above and beyond in making sure our big day went as smooth as possible. We GREATLY appreciated all of her help in coordinating the event, which went off without a hitch despite less than perfect weather conditions on the day of!! My husband and I had a great time at our wedding, as did all of our guests. Thanks for a night we will always remember!
You need to host an event here..such a cool experience!
Absolutely love the mummy that's there! Highly recommend anyone to head there! They just need more of a selection on Egypt!
Very cool museum with interesting exhibits and a cool collection of signed baseballs. Look forward to visiting again once they expand.
I've been coming to the museum every few years for the past 15 years now. The front area of the museum used to house lots of artifacts of local aviation historical significance and other subjects; now almost empty except for a big screen production at the far end w/seating for only 3-4 people and the full size replica of the Benoit seaplane suspended overhead. Theatrical touch is nice & modern yet doesn't have nearly as much historical material. The middle third of the museum which used to tell a lot more about Pinellas County and St. Petersburg is now some exhibit hundreds of baseballs which I really hope was not paid for with taxpayer dollars. Yes Virginia, there already is a Baseball Hall of Fame. The mummy exhibit from another country is an even more blatant example of this museum having abandoned its local historic roots and sense of purpose. Someone please open a new local History Museum!
Under renovation
Wide ranging collection, children's area, dining, limited parking
I recently read a book on the history of St Petersburg which referenced this Museum several times. So I was inspired to take a Saturday and visit this place. Very nice museum. I enjoyed the exhibits including the special exhibit they had called Alligators and Oddities that was very interesting and very bizarre. Everything about alligators you could ever want to know. They had a great autographed baseball collection. I am not a baseball fan but I certainly enjoyed looking at that. The best part was the replica airplane from the first commercial airline in St Petersburg. Overall the museum told the story of the story of St Petersburg quite well. There were quite a few bits of information not in the book. Well worth a rainy Saturday.
Disappointing. Save your money to have a beer next door. You can walk in and see as much as I paid to see. They could do a much better job.
Cool exhibits, nice venue!
Good history, some sad pictures of the war but it shows a realistic side of war. Great baseball collection, even if you don't like baseball the people have signed them is really neat
Alot of baseball history and local St Pete history. Cool museum.
It's small, but their collection of baseballs is very impressive.
Good bar and average food.
It'd nice, but rather small. A lot of tourists and locals were there and it felt a little crowded. Overall though it was worth the little bit of money it cost.
Great local museum.
Good little museum showcasing St. Petersburg history. Everyone should go at least once. Location is great right by the Bay and downtown.
Все чудесно и крайне занимательно.
Awesome stop when in St Pete with cool bar attached.
One of the best museums in the area.
Very expensive to see photos $16
Expensive entrance fee
It's closed for renovations. Google indicates that it's open.
A lovely museum and a wonderful venue for the party to open the St. Petersburg part of the mobile app: Florida Stories. It is just delightful to see the community come together to honor and appreciate the city!
One of the most fantastic museums I've ever been to
The city owns an Egyptian Mummy! Some nice historical pic & stories. Lots of signed baseball's and baseball history. That's it. There is a film on flight history, but wedding party was using that room, so didn't see that. No parking there yet; park at the garage for Sundial.
I think it's overpriced for what they give in return, and the main exhibits arranged in a confusing manner, but it has a nice collection of items throughout the history of st. Petersburg.
Way too expensive
Baseballs we're incredible !!!
Loved the baseball memorabilia.
A great little gem in the St. Petersburg downtown. Don't forget to see the mummy!
The 3 exhibits that were open were great but unfortunately it was under construction for expansion
Loved it and hope to visit again after their renovation is complete.
If you are new to St. Pete, this is a must! Excellent display and recount of the history of our Sunshine City.
Wonderful location for a wedding.
This museum is a little gem on Tampa Bay in downtown St. Petersburg. The permanent works are wonderful. They also have some beautiful temporary displays. One that I especially liked was art glass. An unexpected pleasure was a textiles exhibit with a focus on Victorian era lingerie. A very peaceful afternoon.
Great place
Lovely afternoon. Baseball exhibit was wonderful. It's a Groupon too
Love this place. Broad historical synopsis of the area. Not huge, but informative. Covers natural history as well as commercial, cultural, and racial history.
This is a very cool hidden gem. I'm not crazy about the baseball part of it, but the history museum itself is really interesting and has some great photos from back in the day in St. Pete. I love seeing the dirt streets where Beach Drive is! Definitely worth a visit.
As a native of St. Petersburg, I wanted to choose a wedding venue with connections to the city in which I grew up in. After visiting the St. Pete Museum of History, I knew this would be the perfect location for our wedding. The ceremony space, behind the museum, is one of the hidden gems of wedding venues. It is right on the Tampa Bay, with sights of the Vinoy in the background. The location cannot be beat, as it is so close to the bustling blocks of downtown. The space is quiet yet energetic, and was absolutely perfect for our outside ceremony. We had the reception inside, which gave the charm I was looking for with the Benoit airplane above the dance floor. Our guests were given access to the entire museum and while my new husband and I took photos outside, they were able to enjoy a cocktail hour while exploring the museum. Working with Caitlin was a delight. There is absolutely no need for a day-of-coordinator if she is on your team. She was incredibly generous in allowing my husband and I stop by any time we had a question or wanted to see the space again. If you’re looking for a wedding venue that combines old St. Pete quirk with new St. Pete location, the Museum is the perfect spot for you.
A nice surprise, great old photos, a huge road sign exhibit & more signed basesballs than I ever saw
Beautiful historic place
Great place for local history.
I thought this museum lacked any interesting exhibits.I dud a groupon and feel i still overpayed for this. Going in I was excited but I left feeling like this needs an authentic touch and didnt grasp the history of st petersburg at all. I felt it was kinda all over the place. Needs to improve or i may never return.
Anything you want to know about Tampa st. Pete back in the day this is the place to come
Educational and fun!
Small but great
Was very interesting. Would have liked to have a little more history on St Pete. Didn't explain the green bench only had a picture of many people sitting on green benches.
Interesting museum that I have been to twice and enjoyed every moment of it.
It was interesting to learn a little history of st.pete
Absolute rubbish of an excuse for a museum.
Quirky museum
It's a nice small Museum
This museum is interesting and has a variety of display to see. If you are interested in aviation, Baseball, Egyptian Mummies and local history then you should definitely visit this little known gem. I think it will be worth revisiting in the near future as they are expanding.
Not a big place. Went through the whole place in about an hour. The "exhibit " at the time i went was....unexciting
Great collection of baseballs.
A nice museum especially if you like baseball. There are a few rooms with thousands of autographed baseballs and other memorabilia. Also some interesting displays commemorating the first commercial flight for St. Petersburg to Tampa.
Not a lot to see here, but it's nice. Their main exhibit is waiting for a renovation, but I liked the traveling exhibit.
Excelente ciudad, hermosa!
Only recommended for people who care about history. Not very fun for kids
A lot of pieces to view but sort of feels redundant.
Small for the price but the Cuba exhibit was lovely.
Attended a wedding here. The wedding was nice. Service and food was good. I don't think I would ever go just for the museum though. It just seemed like old concert posters.
Interesting exhibit of the first seaplane taxi service.
Though small compared to other museums in the area it is worth the visit. Took my father over to see the Schrader’s Little Cooperstown exhibit and it was a big hit. For a man who as kid grew up around the original Yankee stadium going to games whenever possible and actually been to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown; he really enjoyed this exhibit. We're already making plans to go back again and take his brother when he comes to visit later this year.
$15 to see a room full of baseballs? Really?
Small but nice
Neato
Altamente recomendado.
Nice. The employees were knowledgable. Highly recommended.
It's kind of small and they could get better exhibits.
A lot of love went into this place. The musuem is bigger than it looks and has alot of great exhibits. It seems like the musuem is very well run.
Very nice folks & though pretty small it's still cool
Don't come here for,4rt of July. They don't celebrate independence. Pt leaves thousands without celebration.
Just ok. It depends what's the exhibition at the time
Such a cool museum. Awesome collection of baseballs from all ages and all around the world. I would recommend to anyone who is a local history buff.
This place doesn't have too much to view, mostly a place for hosting parties or events
Had access to archives to research my homes history in St. Petersburg ( c. 1926). Interesting to learn about the city and it's development. They gave me some good resources of where to look for more information. I was able to see who was the first owner of my home, it was a local doctor. Worth a visit to museum to see collection of baseball memorbelia as as well as featured traveling exhibits.
Small, construction in area hampers access but its reduced rate right now. HUGE collection of autographed baseballs and some really cool history behind some of them. Good history of St Pete section. Airplane section in progress. Cheap place to get out of the heat for a while.
Great way to spend an afternoon with my 7 and 10 year old! I've lived in the area for a while and still managed to learn a TON about the history of St. Pete. My 10 year old son was enthralled with the baseball collection and my daughter was entirely creeped out by the stuffed two headed calf. Staff was really kind. Great visit- thank you!
Good place so much to learn.
Really cool local museum. I love it
Fascinante para quem adora história e conta com um acervo incrivel de esculturas e mumias recomendo a visita !!!!!!!!!!!!
What a great experience. I can’t wait to come back here again. 5 stars all the way!
Sehr interessant, tolle Exponate
Great day out
Hidden gem. The first paid, commercial airline flight was flown out of St Petersburg! Who knew?! Very nice exhibit on Tony Jannus circa MAR 2017. I also caught the Fighting for the Right to Fight exhibit that highlighted the efforts and contributions of African Americans during World War II. Reasonably priced and well worth a stop!
Very large collection of autographed baseball's that tell the history of the sport
The museum is located on 2nd Ave NE, locally known as the Pier Approach. Currently the pier is longer, but this museum has exhibits you won't find anywhere.
Do not come to this museum!!! There are no exhibits about Florida history....only autographed baseballs. Simply terrible and expensive. Website is misleading.
Was very interesting & def worth a visit!
We had our wedding at the Museum of History on October 22. We had the wedding ceremony indoors in their flight gallery , the cocktail hour thru the exhibits and the reception in the flight gallery. it was amazing. The staff is so easy to work with, the price is reasonable and the location is so perfect. My guests loved the venue. I could not have asked for a more perfect venue.
Fun stop in downtown St. Pete! Informative, interesting and a must for baseball fans. The ladies at the front counter were awesome!!! They were friendly, fun and knowledgeable! I can't wait to go back.
Interesting little museum
Loved the baseball collection! I will come back when renovations are done to see the rest.
Wonderful keepers of the memories of our truly amazing city. We are grateful to all contributors, both volunteer and staff. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Wonderful collection and a very friendly staff!
They are currently under construction... and really the stuff that was on display in the front area was more a "what we plan on doing with the museum." I liked the city history stuff in the very back room , but this could have all been arranged alot more impressively in that front room. I get it first commercial airplane make it about flight, but if you haven't got the materials to support that... Do something until then... Alot of baseball stuff, if you're an enthusiast. Maybe the is a ton of cool impressive stuff in the room that is under construction... with as amazing city as St. Petersburg is, short though its history may be in comparrison to the rest of the world. If you're a local help 'em get it together, even if they gotta borrow stuff from other museums or do bake sales.
It was a lot smaller than I expected but had some very interesting displays. There is free parking in the back but they said that may change after the new pier is built.
small but a local treasure
it's ok. bit I think that they can add more stuff.
Great learning experiences and so much to look at. Very interesting material. One of my favorite museums.
Very small museum but the little Cooperstown exhibition was very impressive.
We went to the museum to see the Cuba exhibit. We were given a $2.00 discount because the was a wedding and the aviation exhibit was closed to us. We were okay with this but then they were setting up in the area of the Cuban exhibit for the wedding also and were quite noisy and disruptive to our enjoyment of the exhibit. They said well they were trying to work there! I think if this is the case then close the whole museum. Not a pleasant experience
A wonderful way to learn about the history of St. Pete. Also, a great event venue.
It was under construction when we were there and there was nothing on the website about it. Could only access a small portion of the museum but still had to pay full price.
