REVIEWS OF Museum Of Science & Industry IN Florida

Julia Mayeux

Super small. Not worth the price. Three stars though because we still enjoyed the few exhibits there were. They should really consider getting a bigger space and improving the experience for their patrons.

Stacey Chadwell

Great place for small children and teens. Adults will enjoy it too. Highly recommend.

Marina Allen

We went here because it was part of the Tampa CityPASS. I wouldn’t pay to come back. There were a few cool exhibits but it was overall boring. The highlight for my kids was the playground outside. DO NOT waste your money on the planetarium. The graphics were terrible. The narrator was boring and ridiculously awkward. After 5 minutes I thought it was a joke and then I was told it lasts 50-55 minutes! It was worse than being in school. Someone should have paid me to endure it, and I still would have said ‘no’.

Trevor Blosser

Kids had so much fun, what a great time and they learned a lot too

Caprena Rowe

I had so much fun with my daughter here. Great family hangout.

Melinda Wheatley

Took a group there and they didn't have a reservation but that could have been a mistake on both parties. They do not have any place to eat there and we wanted to spend the whole day. Compared to what it used to be it is very small but the exhibits are very interesting. I would say it's probably a good four or five hour experience. The best thing about it is to planetarium show!

Wyatt and Jenni Allen

Most of the places shown in other reviews are no longer their. The exhibits have been greatly limited. That said, what they do have is fairly interesting. My wife and I took my 4 and 2 year old and we spent about 4 productive hours there. I think there was more things to occupy my 4 year old than my 2 year old. But both enjoyed it. We spent our last 40 minutes outside on the playground. Nice turf. Some whole sections were being renovated on the inside. Building a dinosaur skeleton it appears. We have the nationwide membership because we live in an RV and travel so much, so we paid nothing to get in.

Maria Stroud

I was visiting my niece and we went there with her children. I had a blast. I wish there was one in my home town. Such a neat place for kids and adults alike. I laid on a bed of nails and then made a movie using dinosaurs. Next I drove the lunar lander and mined minerals on the moon. All of that and I never left Tampa.

Scott Mikalajunas

The place was ok. There were some nice interactive exhibits. I give it 5 stars because it was free for us with reciprocal privileges from a membership we have at another place.

Matthew MacDougal

Very easy to navigate. Most all exhibits were hands on and interactive. Great place for the whole family, especially if you have a couple hours to kill before a flight out of Tampa.

Frank's Variety Channel

MOSI is an entertaining and educational place. So many hands on exhibits that are fun for kids as well as adults. From the area about the science of hockey to the hands on lunar exhibit. Spectacular.

Christopher DeVito

My son and I loved the skywatch event tonight! We really enjoyed seeing Saturn, Jupiter, and a binary star I can't remember the names of. I really appreciate the time and knowledge the staff shared with us at this free event!

Camely Avila

We went their expecting all the exhibits to be open. The majority of the facility was shut down. Now its catered to elementary age groups. Aside from tight ropes, we wasted our money and drive their.

Nicole Pascarella

So much fun exploring! We were here for about 2 hours. Fun for kids and adults!

Dean Dietrich

There is A LOT to do at this museum and you can easily spend a full day there and find something interesting for everyone. Tickets can be used for reentry on the same day if you'd like to leave and eat somewhere that isn't the cafeteria at the museum. Make sure you keep a map handy because it's easy to get lost looking for an exhibit.

Emily Caltagirone

Such a great kids museum. Good time for a 6 year old and a 4 year old with plenty of exhibits to fill an afternoon. Great playground outside as well.

Minna 1

For $21 my 2 and 4 yr old and I launched homemade rockets, drove on the moon, laid on a bed of nails, "touched" electricity, saw visual illusions, went in a hurricane tunnel, operated a crane, saw dinosaur bones, made paper helicopters... It's so much smaller than it was 10 yrs ago, but the prices fairly reflect that.

Jessica Eisenberg

Used to have a lot more small child friendly exhibits but they had to condense with the move and I guess that had to go. Good for older kids, my toddler didn't get much out of it just yet. I hope they will expand again at some point, the good staff and the vision for a cool learning experience is all there!

Alejandra Maldonado

I went to this school last year and I loved it although I am sad that the school has shut down because they had to pay for water and air and all sorts of things but I really enjoyed this school a lot ,and that the people that went to the new mosi that maybe is downtown they are lucky ,and I miss this school a lot and I wish I went there this year / edit: I also want to make it clear that when I went to this school last year I loved the garden and where they putted the butterflies in, the place is lovely and there was a cardboard place and dinosaur bones so many cool things !!! I’m sad that they moved the big orange dinosaur off the stand and moved it where the zip line is but the dinosaurs eyes don’t glow anymore... but i love this place a lot and I’m hoping one day I’ll go on the zip line with my sister!!

Kayleigh Camacho

This musuem used to be so cool years ago, I've been so disappointed in renovations that they've done. The exhibits are super tiny, maybe a quarter of the size they used to be; they completely did away with the second floor, the butterfly garden is gone, the cafeteria, the gift shop, and the library- all gone. If you're looking for a great sicence musuem, there's one right over in Orlando and way down in Miami. MOSI is like the size of a convenient store now, not worth the money. Thanks for the memories MOSI, wish you were still there.

John Hightower

THIS ONE PLACE IN THE WORLD THAT EVERY FAMILY SHOULD VISIT.THE WORKER'S ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL TO ALL WITH MUCH TO DO AND VERY CLEAN.HIGHTOWER BEATS CEO.

Linda Langone

Was really disappointed. Went there for my birthday. Nothing like when I went there years ago with my kids. There were lots of things to do for kids of all ages and adults as well. Not a place will go back to anytime soon. Need to do some add on before I will go back.

eric kramp

A few of the the attractions within the museum are an additional fee. I enjoyed the virtual reality ride the most.

Zachary Anderson

Had a great time with the kids! A lot of hands on exhibits. If you want to do the rope climbing make sure you wear sneakers, and purchase the tickets for the planetarium early.

Rudy Gonzalez

Due to financial reasons, the MOSI had to scale down to less than half the size it was in previous years. It no longer includes the IMAX theater, butterfly garden and larger exhibits. Much of the museum now include hands-on puzzles and basic exhibits, some interactive. General admission includes these. There are additional activities available at extra cost. The planetarium show ($5) has limited seating and includes a 20-minute movie followed by a typical planetarium presentation. Overall, okay, made better by the affable presenter, Charlie. There is a VR simulator. We passed on it as we felt $8 was too much for basically a 5-minute activity. The last extra is an outdoor ropes course ($7) that looks fun but had closed due to inclement weather. There is no restaurant, just vending machines for food and drink. Plan on spending 2-3 hours at most at the museum. Overall, it's affordable and a nice place to kill some time, but it's just not what it used to be.

Jennifer Sharpe

This place used to be two big buildings now it is only one with very little to do. There is really nothing for kids under the age of 5 when there used to be a cute play grocery store and soft play area in which is gone now. For $13 an adult and $8 kids 3-12. So not worth it. Go to the zoo or bush gardens or even the children’s museum in st Pete.

Baylie Anderson

Wonderful and affordable place for the whole family! Staff and volunteers were very sweet as well. Will definitely be back!

Corey Westra

Great place, the planetarium show (movie part) was way above kids heads and very long (it was on dark matter). The actual part on stars was cool.

Sara Bertran

Have not been to the museum since they downsized. It was still nice but definitely not an all day visit. There is no restaurant so if you arrive at opening, 10 am, by noon your kids are ready to have lunch and you can't leave to eat and come back. We would have eaten there if available but since it wasn't we left and missed the Planetarium show. This cost them $25 we would have paid for that show. We planned our day so we could do the ropes early before too hot. My teenagers were challenged but the zipline which is still shown on their website has been gone since hurricane Irma. They were very disappointed in that. I went to the restroom upon arrival and it was very dirty. Janitors were walking around together chatting but I never saw them do any work. With all of the hands on activities this place is germ heaven. No hand sanitizers or wipes were out anywhere. This was very surprising. I will not be surprised to see this museum just close up do to lack of attendance.

Mellissia Voelkel

Definitely not worth the price they have downsized quite a bit. You can walk through and do all the exhibits in about an hour. We went on a Thursday and I was amazing how small it is now. What's there is nice but not worth the $55 it cost for the five of us to get in. There is a VR experience that is another $8 per that was nice as well but again we were able to do all of that in an hour. We paid for the planetarium but it started at 2 and we had arrived at 10 and were done by 11:15 even after the kids did somethings twice so we ended up getting a refund for the planetarium.

Another lego animation channel xx

Like all other science centers its relly cool, but needs something for a older generation, like teens, and adults.

Shawn Grosvenor

My son really enjoyed the variety of things to do, especially the ability to try using robotics to simulate surgery.

Josh Warner

Great place to take the kids and the 3D ride is awesome....the outer space ride is the best!

Roderik Camacho

A lot of hands on activities for everyone to enjoy. Too hot for an indoor place, they need to turn down the temperature. Also if you've been there before it is not as awesome as it use to be. They sold the building they use to be in and moved into a smaller one next door. My wife was expecting a similar experience to what she remembered as a child, and was greatly disappointed. Still worth at least one visit.

77 Grachin

It was good. For me it was very interesting. Theres a little park outside but you had to get in the building to get to the park. The only problem that I had was there was a activity that has you launch a paper rocket at some piece of paper. It was fine but if you missed (which was common) some child that was walking in the area of the paper would get hit. I almost got hit twice. But in general this place is good. Would recommend you to go here.

Tracy Ventura

Happily visited this museum before my children outgrew the desire to hang w/ their mom. Such a fun experience! Interactive games and learning tools. IMAX theater and indoor zip-lining, too!

Dean Hall

I took my 9 year old son thinking this would be a cool place for him to learn and have fun. We were both very disappointed! The place is a bit run down. Some of the game did not work or were in rough condition. We paid extra for the planetarium and this was the biggest disappointment by far! We went in thinking we were going to see planets but we saw a poor quality animated movie about atom splitting. After the movie we had a poor speaker explain the stars and Greek mythology and he did a very poor job! We wanted to see PLANETS! The speaker did a quick point to mars and that was it. We should have gone to the Children's museum in downtown Tampa. The rope walk which we also paid extra to do was somewhat difficult for most of the kids.

Amaris Santana

It's so disappointing to see how small it is now and how much they took away. This place was amazing when I was younger and wanted to take my kids to enjoy it as I did. When we got there and realized the big building was closed and they had this small building that you go through in 10 minutes just crushed the whole experience. I gave it 3 stars because my kids liked all the things they could play with. But definitely not a place to go if you don't have children

Jeffery Rogers

Paid for 2 oclock show than no seats available had to wait for 3 oclock show was pretty cool tho VR not working and other exibits not working properly and pics online seem deceiving like we were gonna have so much fun but instead it was ok

Andy Johnson

Great place wish I would had more time to explore really neat place!

Isaiah Hogan

Lots and lots of hands on activities for kids that teach them about science. We brought our kids here and they both loved it. We stayed for almost 2 hours and they could have stayed all day. They laughed, played, and hopefully learned something along the way. There is a large playground outside. Bathrooms and water fountains are located in at least two places inside. It is directly across from the University of South Florida.

Kyle Poulsen

My absolute favorite museum. Hands on science and technology. A lot of fun

Danielle Lennox

Half of the museum has been shut down! The moon and space exhibit where the majority of the whole museum now. All of the Bodies exhibit are completely gone. Overall a big disappointment.

Christopher Starks

Lots and lots of hands on activities for kids that teach them about science. We brought 6 & 8 year old kids here and they both loved it. We stayed for almost 2 hours and they could have stayed all day. They laughed, played, and hopefully learned something along the way. There is a large playground outside. Bathrooms and water fountains are located in at least two places inside. It is directly across from the University of South Florida

Crystal Howell

The whole family loves this place. It's great for kids of all ages. wish everything was included in the admission price. Little bit of a letdown.

linda simms

We went through it in two hours we paid extra for the planetarium and the digital ride it's half the size it used to be the other side is now used for training police dogs it's still really interesting we would have been there longer but the twelve-year-old I was with didn't want to stop at all the booths and do all the different things I would think it would be a wonderful day to spend a rainy day in there they absolutely have got to Mark how to get to the parking and how to get out of the parking lot and back to the street we rode around and around I'm sure they thought that was really funny doing that I was not pleased also I bought the CityPASS there and they didn't tell me you have to use it in 9 days I bought it for a child that's coming down next month so now we're trying to run around and use the City Pass I work during the week I only have a few days to use it and it was $124 I think yeah that didn't work out and they should have told me it was only good for 9 days

David Cy

Definitely a place for kids. I went by myself as a 26 year old and was not that fun for me...

Monica F

Drove an hour and half to visit MOSI and was beyond disappointed. The large building is gone and they have nothing left in comparison to what it once was. The children in charge of the museum are not friendly at all. The middle school age volunteers working there are so rude to the kids. Very disappointed in the way the patrons are treated by them. The people who are running the science summer camp( which also appeared to be teenagers) have absolutely no control of the children in their care. The moon base is not fully functional as it once was, there is one exhibit from the old anatomy exhibits. ONE. It is so cluttered and disorganized after the planetarium area. The only remotely educational area was the planetarium presentation. The gentleman who presents it is very knowledgeable and actually the only person in the whole museum who seemed to take pride in his work. Luckily, as members of a local SW FL museum, we have annual passes which allow us to visit partnering museums so we didn’t have to pay to visit, but we will not be returning.

Mr&Mrs Nelson

What an incredible experience, definitely a place for the family to go and have an amazing time. A lot to learn and discover. What better way to spend a Saturday learning and having fun

M Saadiq

It's for older children, I have a 7 and 4 year old and it was either too simple or too advanced for them. Also their place looks massive but overall they do not have that many things to do in comparison to the size of the building they have. Sad but it might be worth it for 9-12 year olds.

Adayza Figueredo

My grandsons 5 and 8 years old, have repeatedly asked to visit this place again. They've loved it

Camesa Taykowski

Kinda deceiving. It's a huge, beautiful building but only 1 level is accessible. They do have an outdoor climbing rope structure but you much have closed toe shoes to use it. We were just expecting more.

crazy ferret lady

A pretty disappointing visit, the museum is absolutely tiny now filling barely more than 1 small hall and some of the exhibits were pretty lacklustre, simplistic and looked rather thrown together simply to fill a space - considering the focus of all the promo for the "one small step" exhibit there really wasn't much to it at all. I don't get how it could have downsized so much yet it be so sparse and unimaginative. I've seen pop-up exhibits with more to see and do! You could pretty much do the whole thing in an hour if you didn't do the ropes or planetarium. The Planetarium was good, and our guide Charlie was obviously very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the topic - just wish when he was talking about the planets/stars they did a close up of what he was talking about rather than us just sat looking at dots for 10 minutes... Again it was an aspect of the place that felt slightly thrown together quickly without much thought. Would have given it a 2 star but Charlie bumped it to a 3.

Mary Hayward-Palazzolo

Butterfly Garden gone. Planetarium show we paid extra for was terrible. The dark matter & Constellations. Should have been so much nicer ... Half the displays didnt work.

Marie Val

I went about 2 years ago and it was very informative and it was a really big museum with many different parts and things to do.

Dani

Mosi used to be amazing and my kids loved it...Well I was not aware that it had changed and downsized. Went from being in 2 building with 100+ things for kids to do and look at to maybe 30 things in a small building. Very disappointing. I did not think it was worth the money. We were planning on spending an entire day and was done in 45mins. More then likely will not be going back.

Madison H

Came here as a kid several times, finally took my family of 5 hyping them up. The only thing left is the hands-on part but it’s so overrun with children. No cafeteria, gift shop or exhibits. Tried going over to the main building before realizing they were shut down and an employee was super rude about it.

Miguel Galarza

Great place to take your kids ages from 0 to 100+. Learn wile having fun. Up to date on technology information good and need to know. A few simulators, space, storm wind, electricity, moon etc.

Mike C

Super place to take the kids. Actually something for everybody. Lots of hands on stuff for the kids and plenty of volunteers to help with assembly. My grandson made a paper rocket and launched it with compressed air. Fun!

Stacey Murphy

Great place to spend the day with your smart kiddos. There's so much to see and do here. Wide variety of things to do and see. Expensive gift shop

Jacqui Hollingsworth

Took my 4 yr old grandson here and he had a blast! So many things to do! Tuesdays have free admission for everyone such a nice thing for them to do. If you're looking for something fun look no further!

Skyla Smith-Ruiz

The children loved the experience of everything they had to offer. With different hands on projects that kept them entertained.

Mark K.

Kids and Parents can spend lots of thought provoking and interesting time here. We had a layover in Orlando (3days... No thanks to Spirit airlines) so spent a day in Tampa. Great place for families and very interesting exhibits.

Mary Gustafson

Very interesting. Rotating exhibits, something for everyone. Loved the Apollo exhibit. Lots of kids enjoying the museum.

soarelp

Small but good to spend your kid's energy.

Maria Judith Gonzalez

Exploring all of the different areas is awesome! Worth the trip up from Orlando & the rope course was a total hit with the kids & family! Great for families with autistic kids, the staff is very patient & kind. Perfect for staying out of the hot sun.

David Fox

Very cool. Compact enough to do in a couple hours. Planetarium show was cool.

Shelley Chewning

Nice place for a fieldtrip of learning and fun. The planatarium is fantastic. We miss some of the attractions such as the Large Hurricane Experience,Beautiful Butterfly Garden Avery ,gift shop and Restuarant. we still had a pretty nice day.

Joshua Vaillancourt

The museum is a little smaller than I remember, but the kids still had a great time. Some of the activities cost extra, so do your homework before you visit. Also remember to bring food as there is nowhere to purchase any, except vending machines.

Bill Buchanan

For my four year old it was pretty good, a decent half day trip. Planetarium was cool. But growing up here I remember when this place was awesome. So, I guess if I had never been back then it'd probably be rated better, but I know what this place was and could be, so it makes me kind of sad. But a decent value for the money and certainly worth a stop once.

Carrie BEll

It's nothing like it use to be. They have sold the larger buildings that housed more things to do. Drove an hour from home just to pay and only spend one hour there. Staff was very friendly but i wouldn't waste the money or the gas to go.

Terry Hunt

I have always love MOSI. It is the first time I have ever been to the new building. I have been going to the old building since I was a little boy back in the early 80's. It's disappointed that it is not as big as the original. At least I'm glad to take my son there.

Chris Clisham

Lots of fun for all ages. We went with older teens and they were just as excited as any younger kid around us. Lots to do and see even for the adults.

Cat

I remember it being bigger and way more fascinating then it is now. Was not worth the trip to go see. :-(

roger kramer

We went with family with two boys. I think I enjoyed it as much as they did. Laying on the bed of nails was my favorite (spoiler alert it doesnt hurt)

Raquel Valdez

This museum is in the process of being closed down and re-opened in another location. Smaller children still love the exhibits. Their planetarium is cool for everyone. I will visit when they open the new location.

Galaxyy

Tons of amazing things to do. Nice staff. Nice park. Breathtaking planetarium. Incredible space area.

Neenah Baby

Tiny and overpriced. Honestly wish I would’ve read the reviews and went to the zoo or the children’s museum in south tampa. Nothing for small children to do. Not even a museum unless you consider a museum a table with some wooden blocks and like 4 tiny “exhibits” that aren’t interactive or anything. $25 for 30 minutes of disappointment

Cassandra Goodrich

They have down graded the museum, much more suitable for Elementary students. The planetarium was awesome.

Cuthbert Pearson

This is a great science museum that children will enjoy. There are plenty of exhibits to keep them busy and happy. They won't realize they are learning. There are periodic demonstrations throughout the day of science. There is a great big room where kids can be very active. I always buy us a ticket for the Imax theatre too. They have a nice variety of educational movies on a giant screen. The small butterfly garden is sweet. There is a cafe and a store for souvenirs.

John Rogers

Brain day..and some serious fun had by all 4 of us.

Roberta Wilkinson

Awesome place for adults and kids great price for a full day of hands on interactive puzzles games and great family fun. A great day excursion for all.

Darleen Burns

The museum of Science and Industry was a last minute visit added to our trip. We found the museum very educational and fun. There were lots of hands on exhibits and there was plenty to do. After we completed the museum we took time in the outdoor area to play ladder ball and corn hole. This is a great stop for families of all ages.

Melissa Lipp

Definitely not what it used to be. I had NO idea that the majority of the museum as well as the IMAX dome was "sold back to the county for a hurricane resource center" now what used to be a side part is the ENTIRE MUSEUM. I can't imagine spending that much money thinking you'd be entertained for the day only to be done after 2 hours. No cafeteria no gift shop . Very disappointed I grew up coming here and am sad my son wont get to continue the experience.

Monique Vaughn

Great place for the entire family and if you have food stamps u get a discounted rate

Melissa Lee

My sister thought the recycled dinosaur outside of MOSI was super cool so she wanted to come visit this place and I've never been but that day we went! I have to say that once you experience MOSI, it will be your first and last visit. We bought tickets at the front and entered MOSI. There wasn't much to do for four adults and two kids. The hurricane simulator was cool but didn't seem realistic for the winds that were 160 mph. It was a very limited experience and some things were cool like the mind games but that was about it. I don't think I would return because there isn't much to do and for the price you pay, you would think that you would get some sort of experience to take home but you don't take anything home with you. I can say that I can pass on MOSI.

Adam C

Was fun, but much of it was over my 2.5 yr old head.

Mary Whited

It is not like it was at all. It is much smaller and all the exhibits that included adult participation are gone. It is now aimed at children and adults with children. It is now in the small building where the rope trail is only. The big building is completely shut down and sold to the city. Its great if you have kids to take so they can play and learn but don't expect anything for adults.

David Colee

Very nicely developed. Lots of things for kids to get into, try, build, etc. Rope course looked good and I'll be interested to try it next time I get this way. (One of your group couldn't participate because of a medical condition, so none of us did.) A good place to watch an elementary age child learn so much while having so much fun.

Veronica Touhey

Not very big but very informative. We planned to be there a couple of hours and spent almost 4. Lots to read, experience and learn.

Tori McLean

Miss the old Mosi. While we enjoyed our hour there, it is not something I have any desire to return to. Glad I didn't have to pay thanks to our Swaptember privileges. The moon exhibit is by far the best part.

Ruby

When the most exciting thing at a museum is making perler bead designs... well let’s just say it’s sad. The google descriptions says that there is a hurricane simulation and a butterfly garden and while they were a part of the original MOSI, it’s not in this one. The whole building that used to contain most of the exhibits is now owned by the city (according to a employee that I asked) and MOSI is now just what used to be the Kids In Charge Building. If you had never been here before and had young kids I could see it being a fun day once but for everybody else I would say pass.

Jake S

I took my two small children (1 & 2) and had ourselves a good time. I wouldn't say they have a lot of things for that age, but they have enough. I would say the best age would be school age (5+) until just before high school. Teenagers might not enjoy it, but it becomes fun again when you are an adult taking your children.

debra fisher

Half the size of what it used to be, although my kids had fun.....

Mari Arellano

I went here as a kid on field trips and now have taken my kids and seems like its more fun now than when I went as a kid! Completely remodeled and has more interactive items! They also have extra add-on activities you can purchase to do, like a virtual reality ride and or doing the ropes course which is outside as well other activities. They also have a decent sized playground outside that is nice and clean surrounded by a fake grass area where you can sit watch your little ones play!

Ernest Chen

Great place for young kids learning science and spend good quality hands on time with parents. The place is not big and well organized. Highly recommend.

Jeff Giroux

Lots of really cool exhibits and fun activities for young kids to try.

samuel cheverez

More for children but, we because kids and really enjoyed it.

Sandra Lox

Fun and informative place to take the kids, my daughter loved it!

D Bear

Swaptember for us was going to MOSI (museum of science and industry) for free this weekend. It's because we have aquarium passes. We really enjoyed it there, they had alot I haven't seen at other science museums.

Lisa Scarano

Good way to spend a few hours and entertain the kids. My two boys had a fun time. Lots of hands on activities to keep them engaged and enjoying themselves. The Planetarium presentation was awesome. Our astronomer, Charlie, was great.

Yvette

I was disappointed at how little there was to see. I had been s member 5 years ago and the museum had 3 buildings with of exhibits! It used to be wonderful and had multiple floors. Now everything is in one building and one floor besides the zip line structure that is outside. It was a bummer. The planetarium show was really good. The girl narrating was very knowledgable. The other highlight was the exhibit on the 50 year anniversary of the moon landing.

Anne Wells

Be sure to check the perimeter of the main room -- there are some great exhibits in other rooms.

Cheryl Abbey

My guys loved the rope course! It's not the same MOSI I grew up at but it was a fun afternoon of learning and fun.

Brenda Penuliar

Perfect place to go with your kids and learn many new things.

Drake Rivers

Not a bad visit. Took my wife here for our anniversary as she is lover of museums. I probably should of done a little more research before making this my decision. It is very kid and family friendly. We enjoyed the exhibits and she had a blast. Would love to come back here with my daughter when she is old enough

El Webbo

Looks pretty cool. Unfortunately my little one was having a bad day so I didn't get to experience the whole thing. It looks organized and fun to explore. BUT I did hear it used to have WAY more. What happened? Why are you holding out on that science, guys? I get it. Things happen. Still very enjoyable.

Kudla Family

I am so confused by these good reviews. This place used to be fantastic but they are now just one room with a few mediocre science experiments and an outside playground. And it isn’t cheap for what they offer. Save your money and go to the children’s museum or the zoo.

Daniel Long

We attended the MOSI After Dark and really loved it. I hope they decide to keep doing this. It was a fun and inexpensive way to learn and just play with some cool stuff.

Jessica Chennault

This isn't the Most you grew up with as a kid. It's a single large open space with a bunch of info boards everywhere. Nothing a kid under 7 could even do on most activities. Mine was 3. We played with blocks. All the possibly interesting things didn't work or were under matience. We left in less than 20 minutes. I'm heartbroken.

Tim Piatek

This museum is modest, but extremely modern, clean, well-organized, and fun for the little ones. Amongst the activities and exhibits are: -Table puzzles and games (of the stacking and rearranging to achieve the victory condition sort) -Wood blocks to build with -An array of optical illusions -A playground. This was a big hit, and it's totally fenced off from the surrounding campus. -A climbing course (extra $) -A VR space experience (extra $) -A Tesla coil -A display of student art and creations -A modern communication and technology room -An artist painting -A craft room with STEM projects On the whole, very nice and definitely worth the trip. It doesn't compare to the museums of larger cities, but for Tampa, it's great!

Roger Peppiatt

Thought it would have been better for a stateside museum, needs bigger and better exhibits. A fairly small building. Planetarium show was disappointing. I think it needs more closer up view of the cosmos rather than faint white dots, although speaker was enthusiastic and knowledgeable.

Anisah C

Mom of 4 kids, ages 7-2. There were some great hands on activities, but some of the exhibits advertised left us asking, "What's the point of this? What is the learning objective here?" It's sad how downsized this place is. It was once a gem when I was younger and now it's just a collection of leftovers almost. Museums like Great explorations and Glazer children's museum have much more to offer.

Roger Beltran

My 2 & 3 year old really liked this place. I would say that they were a bit too young to really enjoy it. It’s a good thing that it was slow.

Jeannette Stepka

I am here now and i am so disapointed ! Ok if you're here with a young child. Nothing to offer otherwise. Was here many years ago and bragged often about this place,.So as to bringing my family here now after boasting about how much fun and how much they will learn, it was a total disappointment.!!! Definately not worth the money!!!

sugarhoneyicedtea

Really sad. My boyfriend and I loved this when we were kids, there was so much! Now there’s barely anything just one small area and the rest Of the building is closed, no imax theater, no food court, gift shop or second floor. It’s like a ghost town, the butterfly garden is dilapidated, the regular garden is trashed and abandoned and the old entrance to the museum is blocked by large vans and trucks. Overall very sad, almost like a part of our childhood died.

Christian Campise

Mosi has some really cool exhibits. There aren't a lot of them, and you can get through the whole place pretty quick. Note that most exhibits are very kid oriented- there's more fun than science to be had. I was surprised to find they had a rope course at a fair price ($7) and even provided lockers for free to hold your valuables as you climbed.

B-Bud

Very small and disappointing. This place used to have a science shop with a wide variety of great gadgets and gizmos you could buy. The place was huge with machines you could get into and essentially ride a virtual roller coaster and human gyroscopes. Now it's a cheap, dinky little depressing shell of its former self. It's one semi-large room with video screens depicting science stuff that you cant really interact with and some other basic physic contraptions. The shop is completely gone. The only cool thing they have left is an electricity cage where you can see arcs flying but it doesn't make it worth the trip.

Good to Grow

It's a great 2 to 3 hours of run for the kids. Have to try it.

Savvy Matthew

Not worth the trip to be honest. I always look to donate to a local museum and old MOSI reminded me of amnh from NYC where I came from but the trip was extremely unpleasant to find out what I wanted to see was completely closed for Good. It's sad o expected better

Jasmine Goldenstein

Very small. Was expecting a lot more! The puzzles were really cool but just wish they had more exhibits.

Steven Pajevic

Very educational and if not too busy, you will really have an opportunity to interact with the experiences. We went on a weekend, and had a blast at the beginning until we realized that there was not much to it. Reasonable size area, dated exhibits, and anything worth mentioning was an up sell. We had contemplated getting a membership (which they make easy to acquire after an initial visit); however we are glad we did not. 100 points for their intention. We left after an hour and went to the zoo.

Mike Clark

First time visitor from Utah to this museum. I thought it was a great place that had fun and educational activities that would appeal to people of all ages and from all backgrounds. I thought that the exhibits and activities were both well-placed and well-spaced. There is lots of room to roam within the facility, so it didn't matter that there were many energetic children on day camp field trips there during my visit today, bouncing off the walls with excitement. Most of the activities are very hands-on in nature and teach important and valid engineering and physical concepts without espousing any political or socioeconomic agenda in so doing. Well worth the admission price...great way to spend anywhere from a couple of hours to entire day, depending on how much you want to see and learn. If you have bought the Tampa City Pass and you're debating on whether or not to visit MOSI with your admission coupon in the booklet, I'd highly recommend it. It's fascinating and you'll enjoy your time there!

Amber Eckert

So disappointed! I grew up going to MOSI and remember how amazing it was! We currently live in Orlando and took the hour and half drive to surprise my daughter for her birthday. I was surprised to see how much it has downgraded. Used to walk through a butterfly garden. There is nothing that separates MOSI from the boring Orlando Science Center. Heard the original MOSI is now a hurricane shelter and no more IMAX. Wow! What a disappointment

Anne Feiring

Ok place if you have SMALL kids...If not the most exciting is the VR

joshua Justice

It was a lot of fun. It was not as fun as the last time. They have downsized since we where here last. Wish the people where a little more engaged with the children. We walked up to an area and the people who where maning it just ignored us and keep talking to each other. But all in all we still made it fun.

anthony strickland

Great little museum....great for kids...only located in the small building now. I wish I could have visited it when the whole complex was open. But overall...well worth the money

Melissa Schlehlein

They closed the buildings that had the best stuff in it and now when we took our kids here 6 years later it is really disappointing. We paid for our kids to pretty much play with what they could have at home for free.

Richard Timberwolf

Lots to learn and discover! The little ones really enjoy all of the interactive projects that are displayed.

Morgan M

I remember when it was a 2 story building and there was WAY more things to do. Half the exhibits you have to read and it's for kids they just want to get their hands on things not read. It was all a one story place. Let's just say I was very disappointed in mosi it used to be fun when I was a kid with all of the different activities but now it's boring.

Mykel Lammert

Very cool place to take the kida. They have their own parking, which is awesome. Not that expensive at all and amazing exhibits. The only thing I found weird was their outdoor playground. It's a science center with a playground that has a felt ground, so every time you touch the playground itself, you get an electric shock, not ideal for the kids.

Tim E.

The exhibits are really for the younger crowd of 5 to 12yrs old here. We did enjoy the Planetarium but were suprised when it was an additional fee to view the shows. The staff was very friendly and they were busy interacting with the kids.

Sam Deyton

A great experience my 7 year old and I both had a great time. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Larry Parker

Good place for kids. Stuff needs to be updated though.

Jada Minrod

A lot of different activities to do! Its neat. It engages your brain

Cat land and game land Lol

Lackluster at best. This is no longer the Mosi from my childhood. The IMAX theater is closed as is the 2nd 3 story building. Everything is in 1 small building and all attractions can be seen in a short time. It felt like a waste of money. The only thing that keeps this from being a 1 star rating is the planetarium.

nicole wheatley

They have completely ruined MOSI. There is nothing for kids or adults. Sure you can pay another $7 to go outside and do an obstacle course. But honestly they should just shut it down now. Can't do the planetarium now because you have to reserve a spot in advance before you ever even go. They have hardly anything hands on for kids to do that is actually fun. Kids can play with blocks at home or dinosaurs. They took out the lights and music, the real hurricane tunnel and replaced it with one that puts out as much wind as a household fan. They used to have things you could touch and make your hair stick out or press your hands against things to have different textures. They used to have fossil digs. But now none of it. Don't waste your money or time going here. You can do more and learn more hiking in the woods.

Michelle Bowens-Vorn

Thought we would be in & out. It appeared to be small. BIG SURPRISE! We arrived at 1 and were still building st 5. The kids(14yrs to 3yrs) loved it. It stretched all of our imaginations. Would definitely recommend for all ages

Robert Cocozziello

The museum was great. We all enjoyed it. We got an annual pass....it was at a great price

Curtis C.

A whole building was closed...but overall it's a nice place.

Mercy Thomas

Such amazing memories and way better then a beach day! Educational and we keep all the dinosaur coins and flyers for scrapbooking. Love to look back on it and it’s a great growth process.

kim sommersdorf

Since the remodeling there is less to see. We enjoyed the hands on, but the exhibits and building robots were a part of what made the MOSI great once. It has lost some of its charm.

Tracy Critser

Unfortunately the power went out while we were there and they had to close. But we were given tickets to come back. We are from Virginia so we hope to be able to use them before they expire. From what we were able to see before having to leave, it's a nice museum with hands on exhibits. They had a playground outside and a climbing tower that cost extra. Can't wait to try again.

Justin Reinman

It's cool but I remember there being way more to this museum before. It seems half the museum has been closed off and made inaccessible. I'm not sure what their plans are, but you can tell the exhibits are limited.

Irene R

We love this place. Come spend the day with your kids lots of exhibits to try out while kids learn about science. Grab an educational movie in the small dome theater.... Go outside to the large playground, have some lunch, or go climb the super high exhibit (i cant recall what it was called pics attached) and get a birds eye view of down below all while anchored and walking over narrow beams and uneven steps

Yesi

I loved my expierance at this museum. It was very informational. I just wish there were like shows that were done in the morning and not just the afternoon and there is only a few things to see.

Jennifer May

I can not express how disappointed I was when I went and saw that the butterfly garden was abandoned, the gift shop shut down, and the IMAX theater was permanently closed. MOSI was the biggest inspiration to me as a child and now it is just a shell of what it once was. Fortunately, the planetarium is still holding shows but there's hardly anything left besides that.

Alisha Huntoon

This place is so boring now. I grew up here and had hyped up my 6 year old, telling her how great it was. I told her about the theater, and different experiences they had when I was a kid. This place is a disappointment. Too many big words and advanced science for my 6 year old to understand. She just liked pressing the buttons and crawling through all the dinosaur tunnels. We walked through the entire building in an hour, even going through some things twice. No gift shop or cafe now, but you can’t bring in your own food either. “Healthy” vending machines were full of soda, candy and junk food snacks, and the card readers weren’t even working on half of them. So sad to see how small and disappointing it is now.
