More than I expected! I visited that building as a child when it was the post office and only knew of the narrow space for the customer line. To my surprise, the rooms keep going back with interesting displays. You can easily spend a couple hours exploring and reading everything. Great outing for the family.

Well-put together exhibits and informed docents. The Historical Society in Seaford apparently runs a tight ship. I've been there a few times and took a walking tour that imagined the steps of Harriet Tubman while she was in Seaford on her way north. It was a blast and fascinating. The mannequins are vaguely creepy, but in a charming way.

Charity Pusey

Interesting look into Seafords history. There is a cool old bank safe in the building also.

Who would ever think that a small town like this would have a museum of this quality! Fiber optic lighting, Dorfman figures, interactives, docents and a new maritime wing is on the way and should be here by the Summer of 2013. Following that, space will be available for an exhibit on the Underground Railroad and an escape through the town square that was designated by the National Park Service's UGRR Network to Freedom as an escape route led by none other than Harriet Tubman! To follow the history of the town is to follow the history of the nation: Truly a Chesapeake Bay story found in little Delaware - from its native peoples to Capt. John Smith, to early settlers in the 1600s to mills and foundries, then steamboats and railroads, all the way up to the construction of the first Nylon factory... all because of a pristine river that leads to the Chesapeake Bay and a Nineteenth Century railroad and now a highway system that ended the isolation of living on the Delmarva Peninsula. The story is all here.
