REVIEWS OF Indian River Life-Saving Station Museum IN Delaware

One of a handful of places remaining where you can still "feel" what it must have been like to lead the life of sea rescues. Good movie and phone ap let you go at your own pace. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Well worth it!

My review is based from a "Disc Jockey" perspective. While couples may love the atmosphere, this place is "hell" on a DJ and his spine. The facility should be more DJ friendly by having a "non-sand" walkway to carry equipment and generators to the beach for the ceremony. Many professionals will refuse to work there for this reason. The pavilion near the office is OK, but still not as "DJ Friendly" as it should be concerning the sheltering of sensitive electronic equipment.

We've taken multiple field trips with the Indian River life-saving Station guides, they're always friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend visiting the Indian River life-saving station and attending one of their programs

A fabulous experience. Very well laid out to illustrate "life" at the life-saving station. Highly recommend using the cell phone tool that they offer. Great for kids. Nice gift shop. My wife bought two lanterns. They show a short video that explains a lot. I had trouble hearing it. The staff could not have been friendlier.

Artifacts galore and remnants of a necessary, dangerous past where lives were risked, lost and saved.

This is almost a living museum, as you can wander the boat house and living quarters, and touch the exhibits.

Learned so much. great tour guide!

My kids and I ended up here at the recommendation of our restaurant waiter, and I'm so glad we did! We had taken an overnight trip to the shore for the spring equinox full moon, but it rained the whole time and was too windy to go on the boardwalk. The tide was impressively high, though, and with the wind and driving rain there couldn't have been a more perfect day to see this museum. You could really get a sense of its purpose, looking out at the windows at the waves crashing not far from the dunes. Well worth the nominal entry fee, and as our waiter had said, lots of interesting history in a small place. Besides, the building itself is really cool. We will be back.

Helpful folks. I came to see live horseshoe crabs(!) and they directed me to a beach on Delaware Bay where I got my wish. Check that one off my Biologists bucket list.

What a lovely museum! I traveled 2,750 miles to visit the Atlantic Ocean for the first time. I'm so glad my friend brought me here. What an interesting place. I had never heard of the breeches rescue method. Fascinating!

A short drive heading south out of Rehoboth Delaware you'll find the Indian River Inlet Life Saving Station, originally stationed for distressed ships, now a life saving museum that is worth the visit

Liked this tiny gem. The volunteer was sweet and helpful and this gave some interesting information even with the little area. The ship is so cool.

Pam Scott

Very interesting. Give yourself enough time to read all the exhibits.

Monica Arciga

Cute little museum that starts with a short film about the history of life saving on the ocean. The museum is small but interesting. Some objects have a number and you can get more information by calling a special number and punching in the item number.

Matt Matthews

I loved the museum and tour! It was really fun & interesting and the workers who run it were very friendly. It has my recommendation!

This is a restored beach house from the 1800's that housed a group of people who watched for ship wrecks. It's a fairly small museum but is restored very well with furnishings and items from the period. Very interesting. Requires maybe an hour or less. Nice little gift shop next door.

If you're looking for something close by that you can enjoy I would definitely suggest this. A piece of American history where these men risk their lives to save others and what eventually became the coast guard is remarkable especially considering the lack of technology back on those days.
