Right now the firm receives a score of 4.5 stars over 5 and the rating has been calculated on 509 reviews.
As you can see its rating is practically the highest, and it's based on a very high number of reviews, so we can think that the evaluation is quite reliable. If people have bothered to give their review when they are pleased with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to write tatings when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Museum belongs to the category of Museum.
Had a great time here. Wish we knew dude wasn't going to be there as his we found his pin at a park one time and that's how we found out about the place and were excited to see him but it was nice we could buy a "dude" to bring home!
Very small museum, but worth it for a quick visit. Inexpensive admission.
Fun place for kids. Great exhibits. Friendly staff.
Great place to take kids. Adults can nerd out on interesting exhibits too!
We took our Pathfinder club there, the Cecil Pioneers. We were working on the Shell honor, the Bird honor, and the Mammal honor. They had very thorough displays on shells and birds. There were pictures and models of various animals. There was a "nest" where children could be baby birds. And a special visit with a turtle. The eating area had nice vending machines. Don't forget the gift shop.
Our family loves this little museum! Fun for kids of all ages but only for an hour or two at a time. It is small!
Awesome little museum, great hands on exhibits, interactive sections and wonderful staff!
Great for kids, fun areas with lots of interaction. Not too big and not too small.
This may be a small museum but it's a quality museum. It's the perfect size for a short afternoon visit. It's really well put together; better than some large museums. You'll find well presented information for each display. Nothing is sloppy or outdated. There are displays that are interactive for children (adults to) of all ages.
Took 4 and 7 year old grandkids and had a blast. First time there and definitely won't be the last. Much more to do and see than we thought there would be.
Very family friendly enjoyed it great place very clean bathroom was clean and fun!
Spectacular place. Far exceeded expectations. Smaller than expected but the quality of exhibits is top notch. Great place for a family to visit on a rainy day!
Great place to take the kids for about an hour. I especially like the rotating activity room. There is always something new there each time we visit.
Lovely place for small kids 2-6yrs old! A small interactive easy rainy or cold day must with energetic young ones.
Loved the Dinosaurs exhibition
Fun time..paid extra for the star show..it was not worth it. Reptile show was one snake.
Lovely place for kids on a weekend! Guides helpful and interact with kids!
Spent three hours here. My children (8 and 5) enjoyed themselves immensely. Story time was a big hit, as was meeting the animals. The museum is rather small, but still has quite a bit to offer. very kid friendly. Staff was courteous and helpful, and was very good with children.
Fun, quick trip. Nice loop trail outside, easy for my 4.5 year old. About 90 mins total to see everything (including outdoor trail).
Cool and fun place to take the kids highly recommended.
For what you pay to get in $9.00 a person, I was expecting way more exhibits or even a bigger building. My grandson went here last year on his field trip and it looked nice. So I thought when my grandchildren who live in VA come we'll go...I had googled free places to go and this came up. I was shocked by the price. We will not be back for quit a while if ever. I'd rather fight traffic up to DC to go to free museums. We did have a nice time via photos.....but my teens were like meh.
Great place for Kids ans Adults
Great place to take the kids locally. Prices seem a bit steep, but you will enjoy the time spent there
I liked...
The displays were done to look very professional.
Excellent place for the family. Educational and fun.
We have visited the museum many times. It is great for kids that love exploring nature. My 8yo loves it, my 11yo gets bored here easy. Special touring exhibitions and a Nature Nook area with live animals go well with the standard animal displays.
Perfect for elementary schools and families with young children - there is a small room with a vending machine for snacks and drinks. If you want to eat food, you will need to bring it with you and eat at the tables where the vending machine is or info the back of building where there are metal covered round picnic tables. Museum is small but there are detailed displays with descriptions. There is a room with books and activities for the youngest of the group, story time, and the ability to touch some live animals like a python, spotted gecko, and turtle. There is a beautiful walking trail and you can borrow a big or toddler-sized backpack with binoculars, a checklist, a magnifying glass and other fun items for your nature walk. Prices are reasonable too for admission. There is also a small gift shop - prices are reasonable are the gift shop too, which was surprising
Small but great for kids. The staff was very knowledgeable and eager to answer and questions.
My toddler son and I went during the week and he had a great time wandering around and looking at things. He really enjoyed seeing the live animals with the handlers helping explain what they were.
Very nice museum. Field trip for elementary. They enjoyed it.
A small but very pleasant museum, especially catering to children. A mix of traditional and innovative exhibits await.
Good for elementary school students. Very small meuseum
It's a really nice way to mix things up for the little ones. They have fun seeing the different displays and don't realize they're learning as they go.
Nice gem of a museum in a beautiful location.
My son loved learning about the different animals
This is a very interesting place for people of all ages. My younger grandkids and the older ones also enjoyed browsing through the exhibits and talking about the examples of taxidermied wildlife to be found there. They have changing exhibits and some Hands-On things. We spent a few hours there and had a great time. They also have a nature trail which is beautiful during the summer.
Great place to take young children. Plenty of touchable displays for the kids.
We have been bringing our family here for years. Great place to explore and learn. The staff here are amazing and patient when talking to the children. They are hands on with all who come and visit. The museum is impeccably kept inside and out. Bathrooms are clean. They even have a small glassed in lounge room with vending machines for when your ready to take a snack break. They have party rooms available for that special birthday party. They also have an outdoor patio with umbrellas to sit and enjoy your lunch and or snack. Highly recommend for all ages.
Great exhibit
This is great place for a Harry Potter fest! The staff is very friendly and the exhibits are interesting. There's a nice wooded area in the back where you can go on nature hikes. Parking is free and plentiful. No cafe, but there is a space where you can eat what you bring.
Attended the polar Express night. Fun time for my child.
I attended a class trip with my granddaughter to the museum. What an amazing time! The staff was so patient and knowledgeable, friendly. They answered the children's questions and took great detail giving them descriptions on the different scenes that we were visiting. The live insects and bugs really got the children interested. A wonderful family trip.
This is a very small museum, so keep that in mind. We were there for less than an hour. However, the exhibits were informative and touched on many different topics. Staff was friendly.
Fun but a little on the smaller side. Kids of age 4-8 will have a great time, older than that and they'll blow through pretty quickly and get cynical on you. (Ask me how I know!)
This a great half day. The staff is super friendly and kind. They also share exhibits with other museums so there is often something new.
Great place to take the kids. There was a little maze with a small zip line, rock climb, and other activities. The actual exhibits were on the small size but of quality. You could run through the museum in an hour and a half. It was a good time. Located in the rural part of Delaware. I went on a weekend.
Good inexpensive museum.
Great place to take kids for a few hours on a rainy day! Learned a lot and did the scavenger hunt. Reaaly nice displays.
Great displays of animals and Dino’s. Also, Dude the Cat is the best!
This museum is awesome. Don't let the small size fool ya, this museum is packed full of knowledge and experiences for people of all ages. They have a lot of preserved animals from all over the world and lots of information about both the animals and the regions they come from. The dinosaur exhibits are fun to see and take photographs with as well. I was able to spend the time to see all of the exhibits and read a lot of the details because we did an overnight with the cub scouts. I highly recommend visiting this museum, and visiting it this way. In addition to being able to see all of the exhibits after hours we had students from the University of Delaware we had hands on with spiders, scorpions, snakes and other live animals. My daughter and I had a wonderful time.
Great for adults and kids. Live animal show especially memorable to the little guys.
Laid out nicely. Great place to visit.
It's small but offers a lot. Great kids atmosphere.
Nice place to learn about natural history. Would recommend for families and young kids
Awesome and Perfect. I get to saw History and I Saw it
Small, but lots of hands on exhibits for kids. Staff was great and very engaging with the kids.
Very small museum representing animal world of Delaware. Nice walking trail around the museum.
We had a great time. They are a wonderful place to go with kids. Experts from Mt Cuba were there and we saw amazing astronomical phenomena.
Nice place for kids, great learning experience for them
Nice smaller-size museum for families. One floor ADA-compliant with some outdoor exhibits in the back including a wooded area. The main permanent exhibits are a bit all over the place - North american exhibits next to South American and a polar bear in between. Good shell collection and a good bird egg collection. Space for one traveling/temporary exhibit. Good learning activities for kids but not a lot of interactive exhibits.
This place is really cool for the little ones. They have hands on activities with a discovery room, alot of extra little events. Prices are good, they have a little room with tables where you can eat, they have vending machines with chips sodas juice and water. Very clean, bathroom's very clean and staff very nice and extremely helpful.
A very horrible experience. It doesn't even deserve 1 star. From the moment we walked in we were followed around by security and staffed. Don't touch the pictures, stay 4 feet away from the drawings, no drinks or food allowed, stop playing with the spinner because of security reasons. This was our first time here and it is our last. I really felt that because we are latinos we were being targeted. I want everyone to know how bad we felt and how disrespectful we were treated. Maybe if we were white we would be treated differently.
Nice place to take the kids to. Beautiful displays. Friendly staff
Very interesting from a child point of view. So good for families. Stay very helpful
Informative, organized, clean, friendly staff
Nice little museum for a family outing
Great place to take the kids
Good place for kids for sure. Not a good option for adults, and the dinosaur skeleton is completely fake. But, I appreciate the management's effort to draw more crowds by organizing events and educational day camps for kids
Excellent discovery day activities for kids. Otherwise not much going on. Quite small.
Dinasaur stuff was fun and grandkids enjoyed dinasaur hunt puzzle...
This is a great educational little museum. Well kept up and well staffed. It is best to visit if they have a special exhibit, otherwise it is just too small for the cost.
Awesome place to take your kids. Lots of activities... you can be a member and have fun for the whole year with the entire family. Plus you get to visit a lot of other museums all over the country and some even outside the USA . Which is awesome if you like to travel a lot . You get free museums every where you go. Can’t be more fun than that.
So fun for our 18m and 4year old!
I absolutely love this place. They have a great selection of exhibits including some articulated dinosaur fossils and a special kids area. They host many exciting events and traveling exhibits so there is always something fun. There is a nature trail behind the museum for sunny days. The museum is small so its easy for kids to get through and favorite exhibits can easily be revisited.
Best place for kids
very clean, alot to see and do,
Great day
Over rated for a paid admission. Expected so much more.
This place is awesome! My son and I both enjoyed all the detailed exhibits
Awesome place to visit. The staff are so friendly and very cool displays.
Very nice and interesting great for kids
Took my granddaughters and they loved it. The wicked plants exhibit was the best. Very interactive. Will definately go again.
It was great! As a former science teacher I am jealous of the resources this place provides area educators.
They hosted a Girl scout overnight for is.. great staff? Great little museum.. we'll be back!
Perfect for school age kids, as well as the younger crew. It's pretty small, which makes it easy to see the whole museum and not get overwhelmed. There's a kids room section and lots of kid-friendly activities sprinkled throughout.
My almost 4 year old and I love this museum. We have visited a few time and always find something fun and educational to enjoy. We were able to attend the last day of the dragons exhibit and it did not disappoint! Prices are very reasonable and I am looking forward to more visits soon. We will likely get a membership the next time we go.
My daughter loves it here. It's small but they always have something to do and they have a nice outdoor space. But they have a rotating space and get new exhibits frequently.
Wonderful. Far better that I expected for such an out-of-the-way little museum.
The kids liked it. Very clean. Decent prices for the gift shop.
small but really great museum !
Very nice place for a trip with the kids. Small and so less overwhelming.
Nice museum, very easy to get to and has a lot of wonderful displays for all ages to interact with. You're greeted by a giant squid in the lobby, then you turn a corner to see a life size T-Rex skull! It's a good trip for parents with little ones. There are plenty of places for taking breaks, good changing facility, indoor and outdoor eating areas (weather dependant).
Nice small scale museum
Great for kids! They can run and explore. Special Nook programs in the summer. They l earned about a Corn Snake and got to touch it!
Great place, friendly staff,
I was very nice my son really enjoyed himself
My 6-yr old and 4-yr old really liked it here, but my 9-yr old got bored pretty quickly. It wasn't real big, but there was enough for us to spend 2 hours here. The Maya Mystery was fun, and the shell collection was neat, too. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable...and passionate, too. My little ones loved the African Savannah diorama.
Great educational experience for the kids. Affordable admission and everyone can learn something new
Great place for a class field trip
Great exhibit of shells
Fun and family friendly, but adults who are kids-at-heart will still enjoy. A smaller museum, you can easily see everything on a Sunday afternoon. Great and informative exhibits focusing on animals and habitats, with rocks and minerals on display and other stuff for good measure. Gift shop prices are very reasonable!
This place was rathering interesting. I'm just a visitor here for the week but the exhibits and displays were well done. It's worth a visit!
Always a great time at this place. So much to see and learn!
Small museum, nice for a pleasant afternoon. Not too much to overwhelm children. Exhibits interesting enough for adults.
It's a nice place to go on a weekend. Takes about 2hrs or less in the museum. There is also a small hiking trail to enjoy the nature after exploring the museum. You can watch different birds, butterflies and squirrels. Pinic spots are also available. When I visited the museum, they got a live breaded dragon in the display and I got to pet it. I think it is super cool! I think they don't always have it.
Great museum. However, education program need to be improved.
It had mostly animals and other things related to nature and wildlife. Very fun definitely recommend going. It's good for all ages!!
Museum was nice enough One of the worst field trips I've ever been on in 20+ years of field trips
Not what I expected. The building was huge and the grounds we're beautiful...it is a $9 tour. We were finished in about 30 minutes and toured VERY slowly. Not a lot to see. Seemed geared to young children/families. It's clean and well done, just very smal-
It has lots of fun things to do
This is such a great museum to take your children to. I would say it's perfect for anyone ages 5 and up.. its a great museum for history and knowledge.
A hidden gem! Well-equipped, family-friendly museum with changing exhibits each quarter. Perfect size for young children to explore both indoors and outdoors. My family loves looking at the dinosaurs and all of the other animals. The museum is also staffed by friendly people who are eager to provide information to guests. A great day of fun & learning! Definitely worth getting a family membership!
Always love this place. They are always changing the children's activity room with new exciting hands on learning experiences. This time it's viruses and DNA. Another time was space. There are lots of games, interactive video screens, puzzles. The have a museum cat, Dude, who celebrated his 10th birthday today with cake, extra games and gifts for all the children. There are dinosaur fossils, beautiful gems, and lots of things for children.
We attended the Polar Express event and it was very nice. The various activities were creative and the hot chocolate lab was the best.
Did not visit. This is in error.
The hosted a party for my wife's party and went above and beyond. That's in addition to being a great little museum that my kids love!
Wonderful!! We always love going and the employees are so incredibly nice
It was a nice place for younger kids. If it had been staffed, it would have been really nice. The desks where someone should have been were empty, cutting out the interactivity considerably. Otherwise not bad for an hour or so.
This was a museum we passed on the way to Longwood Garden. We decided to turn around. Everyone we questioned was knowledgeable. I enjoyed the bird egg display. It was very extensive.
First time visiting. Staff were very friendly and helpful! Really neat place. Not crowded. We were able to take our time and enjoy. If you have younger kids, this is a must!! Many interactive kid things to do and, still educational for adults. Wish we would have taken our kids when they were younger!
I really enjoyed the Wicked plants exhibit it was really cool and interactive. The mesuem has tons of animal taxidermy. They also have a nice gift shop. This is a good place to take pics.
Good place for a quick walk through, nice nature trail.
There was a fly on my food
It's a lovely small natural history museum. Super cool large models of animals and a trippy coral reef floor. I attended a wedding here, and it was lovely.
Great place to take small children. The museum has a lot of interesting exhibits but doesn't take too long to go through.
Very family oriented - loved it
I frequently visit with the children I nanny for and took my 26 yr. son there when he was little. It's a great short day trip!
For young kids, the museum's fantastic! A wonderful chance to interact with nature, both inside and out, on a local scale. A great destination, if you have a couple hours with the kids, and need an activity. An entertaining way to introduce children to the concept of museums as a fun place for them. A nice place to have a membership for the summer, to take advantage of the air conditioning, or to enjoy the camps. This museum is how a local business does 'children's engagement' well.
wonderful museum
Great for kids. Hiking trails too!
Small but nice. A lot of kids activities.
Good for kids, it is organised, birds session for kids is very fantastic. Recommended for kids 3+.
Nice museum. Our kids enjoyed it very much.
Cool place ,probably more suited to children under 10
A great place to being you're children! They are also very accommodating to children with special needs! Kayla our tour guide was amazing at explaining and teaching our class! Five stars for her too!
I brought my 11 and 13 year old here and they had a lot of fun. Displays were well done and lots to see. We enjoyed our experience.
We go at least once a month. The kids love it
Cool place to hang out with the 4 year-old. Family membership is cheap.
Great little museum for younger kids. They have alot of special events. Friendly staff
This is a really nice natural history Museum. It's small but it has nice animal and natural exhibits. It's good for adults and kids alike. The only misnomer is the butterfly garden. We were expecting an enclosed garden with butterflies. Instead it's open air and there were no butterflies present when we were there.
It's nice for what it is. Not a very big museum, you'll be out of there in less than 45 minutes. They exhibits themselves are good but it would be nice if there were more of them.
They have rotating exhibits. They are very kid friendly and hands on. The staff is as excited about teaching you as the kids are about learning. They also have a butterfly garden in the summer.
Came as a chaperone on a field trip and I had just as much fun as the kids
This is my very favorite museum! It has all the animals of this area in a display or two in this museum. The Children's Room has lots of things to touch and learn interesting tidbits for all ages. They have a display of DNA, large cardboard virus and bacteria displays. There is a dinosaur, a make elephant's head mounted at the height he would stand. ( I know, he's not from here, but still natural history). There is a lot to show about animals & shells of the area and one display stops kids in their tracks. It's about 5' X 4' of clear plastic in the floor with sand, shells & animals under it. It appears to little ones as a hole so many won't chance walking over it. So cute the first time!!
This place was such a delight. There are dinosaurs out front in the parking lot area and the kids loved that and were definitely excited to go in. They have a few dioramas of animals that are nicely done. A nice nature play room that is staffed with very nice people. One was running a coloring table and another brought out a turtle for the kids to look at and pet. There were a few interactive play stations as well such as a huge eagle nest, a stream table that had a super smooth pretend stream to slide stream animals around. The traveling exhibit of the Mayan medallion was nice. I loved the tiny planetarium info piece and the ruins/caves to go exploring through. Definitely the most interactive natural science museum I have ever been to with so many hidden gems. Easily could spend 2 hours here enjoying things. They have a room to eat snacks in as well and a gift shop.
Small but a nice place to spend an hour or so. Enjoy visits
Lots of fun
Better for younger kids then adults
This a great family-friendly museum, the exhibits are well done and kids love the place. They change out the themed exhibits often enough to keep it interesting. Membership is affordable!
Lots of kid friendly things to do. It's just big enough that there is plenty of variety in the exhibits but not overwhelming. We wandered through in about an hour, though we could've spent more time. There isn't any food there besides some vending machines. However there is an area with tables and chairs.
Interactive activities for kids, hiking trail and nicely maintained exhibits. Not a huge place, but can definitely spend a few hours there. Reasonable price.
Kids loved it
Enjoyed a tour of museum exhibits. Enthralled by the Jaguar displayed in its natural habitat. That large jungle cat is magnificent... Handsome, strong, perfectly suited for the Americans... California Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, and in the rain forests of Central and South America.
Great place for our toddler to visit, we had a nice afternoon. A few neat animals, lots of fossils and eggs and well, natural history stuff! Will be going back when there's a new attraction.
We were at the family day on 6/23. It was a great event, except one very rude staff. An elder man with glasses and off-white shirt sitting behind the desk with stones and a necklace made with stones. My 3-year old came to the desk and touched the necklace very gently. The guy said 'NO NO NO NO NO!' with very harsh tone and facial expression. So we told our son not to touch it. There are also some laminated dinosaur pictures on the desk. My son reached out for them, and again, the guy said NO NO NO NO NO, with the same tone and face. What's more, he then said “MOVE”, and used his arms to make gestures as if he were pushing us away from the desk. We were so shocked and my son burst into tears immediately. This person certainly shouldn't be allowed to work with kids. The museum should do a better job screening their employees or contractors. We complained to another staff. She apologized and gave my son a sticker. But this totally ruined our experience at the museum.
Always fun and educational
Free Admission and lots of information, went just for the expo as natural history isn't my forte, but surprisingly really enjoyed the visit. It reminds me of a smaller Smithsonian, they have beautiful displays and a nice area outside to walk around.
