REVIEWS OF Alapocas Run State Park IN Delaware

Beautiful fall day in the woods. Walked parts of several trails, all the fall colors were in their glory.

I loved it. I had no idea there was a water fall and was in for a great surprise. Then to see people swimming was a pleasure. There are 3 parking lots. So you should be able to find parking although if your not from the area the parking can be hidden. Try not to miss any turns. The trail is easy enough to go alone . But be careful. One wrong turn can put you at the top of rocks ( I slid my way down) but you also have the option to rock climb. You will need a permit. Enjoy.

Fun rock climbing if you have an expert with you and with the gear. Rock wall is a few hundred yards beyond the bridge

Locally it’s one of the only decent climbing places with rope anchors on the cliff at least that I’ve found. Also a nice place for walking/biking/running etc... some of the trails are paved and some are dirt/rock through the woods, also if your climbing you should have a permit which you can easily get for free at blue ball barn just down the road (sometimes rangers come up and ask to see it, and sometimes not, but better safe then sorry)

Elinor

beautiful views and a great place to hike and rock climb.

Nice big park with good biking trails and a solid ~100 foot natural rock climbing wall along some big river.

Be very careful! I was violently assaulted and mugged around 4:50 PM on Monday shortly after sunset. Spent three days in the hospital. Don’t go there alone and watch your back!!

Lovely park with many miles of bike and walking paths that connect with the northern Delaware greenway. It also has a excellent rockface for climbing and repelling. The path along the Brandywine is lovely.

Nice small park with grass near the waters. Benches to sit. Nearby there is a small playground for kids. Keep looking.

Gorgeous park decent prices but impossible to find the entrance other than that it's a great place for a nature hike with clearly marked trails wouldn't recommend the trails for young kids

I love to take the Greenway down here and spend an afternoon relaxing on top of the rock climbing cliff reading a book.

This park is amazing! It's vast and has many different types of terrain. There are a few different parts of the park. This review is mainly about the area near the cliffs and Bancroft mill. There are many ways to get to this area, but I find 2 are easiest for parking purposes. If you come from the Brandywine Zoo end, you have some serious hiking ahead of you. The paths are paved and have some extremely steep hills. Not for the faint of heart or those with knee problems. These paths are popular with locals since they offer an excellent workout on foot or on 2 wheels. If you park behind Bancroft mill and enter across the bridge, it brings you right to the red cliffs and trails. This is a much easier and faster way to reach the cliffs and mill area. There is still some good steep hiking if you head left along the river and then up to your right onto the cliffs. If you're into rock climbing, the cliffs are a good spot. Many people take to the cool meandering waters of the Brandywine river. Tubing is very popular here and up steam from the mill, there are a few man-made waterfalls when kids enjoy swimming. There is some wonderful history here, which you can learn about at various well maintained info stations. The surrounding streets have some good places to eat and refuel as well.

Trails are groomed well enough for someone just 5 months from a total knee replacement.

Really pretty park, nice scenery, I don't know if many people really know it's there b/c its never too crowded. Great place to take pictures if that's your thing. No riff-raff or crazy stuff after dark, I feel safe.
