REVIEWS OF The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum IN Connecticut

Jonathan Farley

The place was very nice. It was smaller and had indoor and outdoor exhibits which was nice. Price was extremely reasonable. With that being said I have it a low ranking just because it wasn't my style of art that I like. Unfortunately I didn't really enjoy any of the artist's work or the pieces but that is just my opinion. They do change up artists and exhibits, not sure how frequently though. It is a very nice place in a quaint town.

Beautiful experience back in Connecticut I think. But nice place for an event there. More about art. But nice dinner with the best plp making events Abigail Kirsh

This place was amazing the history was intriguing and the drinks were spot on.

If you're looking for modern art you can't miss with this museum. Sure to make you think, full of head-scratchers and always something new on the lawn to distract drivers from the main Street traffic

Christine Sirois

A really delightful, small museum with a terrific selection of rotating exhibitions. Friendly staff and an airy space make this a hidden gem just outside New York City.

It is a wonderful museum and easy to navigate within a couple hours. I like that they a variety of art workshops every month and work with living artists. I don't always understand contemporary, but the docents are generally quite knowledgeable. I wish we were able to take photos in all the galleries, especially with the piece of the Berlin wall as I have never been to Germany. There is free parking right next door.

Very interesting and entertaining museum of modern art in a nice setting. We had a great, informal tour by a docent named Joe that highlighted the art, the artists and encouraged interpretation. There are good printed gallery guides as well to give information about each work. This is a fairly small museum, so you will have ample time to view each work in 1.5 - 2.0 hours.

Arts really is not my thing. Went there with some friends. To me, Modern arts is hard to understand sometimes.

Took my 8-year old here—interesting collections (eg art created by inmates)

What a find! Interesting contemporary art gallery in the middle of Ridgefield. Went with my college aged son and we spent almost two hours looking at the four exhibitions there.

Great museum. We are so lucky to have a forward-thinking, contemporary art museum in CT!

The Aldrich is a fascinating little gallery, only lacking in variety due to its relatively small size.

Miriam Martinez

Always interesting

Matthew Kotlov

Some of the art is confusing and if there is a good sculpture, they might put something modern on it and it ruins it

Best museum !!!!!!!!! You have to go!!!!!!

Daniel Kirkeby

Excellent museum with some engaging exhibits. It's larger than you guess, and their collections run the gamut, as you'd expect from a good contemporary art museum. Unfortunately, it's also fairly expensive, at $20/person (it's not MOMA). And there's a bit of the uptight, conservative culture of Connecticut wealth. Which is surprising for a contemporary art museum. But overall well with a visit.

It all depends on the Exhibit. Some are entrancing, others only merit a pass by. We love Third Saturday's when there is open studio for kids (and their parents!)

The Aldrich is a "contemporary" - modern art museum in the New England beauty of woodsy Ridgefield. It is small - - but wonderful architecture for the setting - the exhibits are constantly changing - so call ahead or view the website to see if a show may interest you. Support of this museum helps to keep the wonderful programs including after school and short camps for children going -as well as adult education and ongoing education for teachers. ALSO - parents and grandparents - you can have The Aldrich Museum is a great place to host birthday parties for the kids!

discovered that the group I was with could have had a tour if we went on a monday cant say that modern art is.my cup of tea but I had heard about this museum for long time and to experience it. i missed the outdoor sculpture area which I.would like to see

Colin Harrison

A regional treasure.

Personally, I did not really like how everything in the whole museum was art. And the fact that when I went there, you had to be completely silent, or else you would have to sit out the rest of the time. I did like, however, that they were rescourceful and stayed under budget during this project.
