We've got the opinions of people who are purchasing the services and products of Slater Memorial Museum (Museum) in the state of Connecticut.

Nowadays the business receives a rating of 4.7 out of 5 and this score has been based on 91 reviews.

You may have noticed that the average of ratings that it reaches is virtually the highest, and it is founded on a very large number of feddbacks, so we can think that the evaluation is quite credible. If there are many people who bothered to leave their score when they've done well, it works.

As you know, we do not usually bother to set feddbacks when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...

REVIEWS OF Slater Memorial Museum IN Connecticut

The Slater Museum is a hidden gem of local and ancient history. The replica statues themselves are worth the price of admission, itself a paltry $3 ($25 for a year pass). These replicas themselves have become a piece of history, as plaster molds they we done in ways that cannot today be legally replicated for fear of damaging the original. The selection of paintings old and new, as well as an African art section, a local antiquitied section, and a small collection of high resolution flower casts all round out a thoroughly worthwhile experience. Ask about the long lost fountain!

They have a lot to see for a high school museum. There are colleges that don't have as much.

I have been going to the Slater Museum since I was 5. I am 60 years old. I have always learned something new with every visit. Very proud to be from Norwich (NFA 76).

Had no idea this was even here until I did some real searching. They should probably advertise more, as it is a real gem. Over 200 plaster casts of the most famous statues of antiquity, done when the process was still legal, by Italian artisans. Slater couldn't bring over the real thing, but he had the money to have copies made! Now we can all see these amazing works of art even if we can't get to Italy and Greece.

It's a museum of museums. That's because this place is loaded with plaster casts of other famous works of art, all crammed into a relatively compact area. Why travel the world to see all of these sculptures when you have them all in one spot. While there are so many statues that surround you, it doesn't feel overly full. Perhaps the balcony gives the added airiness that makes this place feel special. Because many (if not all) of the sculpture works are copies, you can get as close as you'd like to the art. They're all life size or larger, so it's quite an experience to immerse yourself among so many masters' masterpieces. You can also learn about the history of the Slater family, and their Grand Tour journey on their private yacht. There are also works and artifacts representing the history of Norwich, CT, as well as some of the Slater Family's finds from various countries on their world tour. There's even an explanation on how the plaster casts were made. A spacious gallery area is available at the rear of the museum, which hosts annual events and various art shows. Parking can be a little sparse on busy days if you want to park right nearby, but parking exists on a side street if the small lot up front is full. Definitely worth a visit when you're in the area if you want a lot of exposed art.

This place is epic All kinds of statues and things from Roma and other places A bit small though I would've loved to see a bigger showcase

Slater is basically an exquisite art museum with lots of local, Norwich historical artifacts thrown in. I especially liked the paintings of famous people who resided in Norwich's past. The large number of Greek sculptors was surprising.

Very interesting museum, with art from around the world. The museum includes Greek, Islamic, Asian and other art. We visited in July, so it was rather hot inside, but overall a pretty nice place.

I came here on a trip from school. Where else would you find a collection like this outside of Europe? It brings all this beautiful, and ancient art locally versus needing to travel far to see it.

Do not miss Slater Museum if you are visiting in the area! You will not be disappointed.

We were impressed by the amazing collection of sculptures amongst other gallery displays. It blows my mind that this museum is located at a high school. It was such a gem to discover, but I recommend visiting before the kids are in recess to avoid the mass chaos of huge crowds on the ground. Parking was easy, as we simply parked on the street yards away.

We stumbled upon this gem of a museum by accident and were awestruck by the massive collections it contains. Staff was friendly and docent extremely knowledgeable. It's located on the beautiful campus of the Norwich Free Academy, a high school, and the entry fee was only a few dollars.
