Amazing collection. Spacious, airy galleries in a beautiful building. Easy on-street parking. I saw a special exhibit, now gone, but noted how original and interesting the curation was. This place is a hidden gem.
Really great collections and deceptively large building. Area for children to make art and small cafe and gift shop. Will be going back!
Wide variety of art including a special exhibit of photography that will be there through September.
This is s truly wonderful museum. The collection of American art that we saw is exemplary. The buildings architecture provides a fluid art experience. We were so lucky to see the Pendergast show. I can’t wait to return!
Great American Art Museum have visited several times.
Since the museum was between shows, I didn’t see much beyond the first floor. Some good examples of the ‘Hudson River’ era.
What a place beautiful to visit Love it TKS.
Thomas Hart Benton's mural Arts of Life in America is worth a visit, or several.
Came here with my wife to see the Georgia O'Keefe exhibit, which was well worth the extra $8. The rest of the place is pretty typical, though I did appreciate the effort put in to showcase at least a little art by people of color.
We were treated to a private tour of the Georgia O'Keefe's exhibit. Fabulous!
Wonderful, interesting, beautiful art museum. Special exhibitions common. A gem.
Was here for the 1st time for a jazz concert. Great jazz band (Curtis brothers)! Had a chance to view some of the art. Beautiful paintings. Plan to come back to visit the whole museum.
Is the Best Place i nice people concern security guard let me tell thanks to William Rodriguez for help me a other peole thanks
Great exhibition!
Fantastic art!
An amazing place. Thoroughly enjoyed all exhibits.
We took our grandchildren to the museum, and it is more kid friendly than when we took our sons to visit. We had a great time exposing these young ones to the museum's fine collection.
Amazing and very well done
Fascinating museum! A must-see if you enjoy art museums. Exhibits are very well done and change regularly. First floor is more "Classical" American, modern and contemporary art is on the second floor. We spent a whole morning here walking around. The little cafe is cute.
High class art museum
As always just a delightful day with dear friends. Thoroughly enjoyed the Georgia O'Keefe exhibit! This museum is a little gem tucked into Central Connecticut.
Nice place. Beautiful art
First time visitors. Enjoyed the exhibits a lot. Especially the Dennis hopper photos.
Excellent experience! Great art without having to spend half of the traveling.
Superb museum with lovely setting, adequate parking, safe location. Amazing collection. A must see in America!
We went to see the Georgia O'Keefe exhibit. Beautiful museum. Great works. You can "borrow" passes from your local library that get up to 4 people in for FREE. Regular admit fee is $15.00. Special exhibits may have a small extra charge. The O'Keefe exhibit was $5.00. Well worth it. Great inexpensive way for a "once in a lifetime" viewing.
The staff was super, and there was plenty to see on the first floor, however the second floor was a waste of time. It is kid friendly and the gift shop staff is super. They even encourage special needs children to come and enjoy the museum.
Beautiful exhibits especially the current one of Georgia O'Keefe. Well organized and quaint atmosphere
Very fine art.
Very impressive art displays ...anyone who likes art museums should check this place out! Definitely
NBMAA is a CT treasure. It is so nice to have such an extraordinary museum nearby. There is something for everyone.
For a small regional museum, this place is great.... A bit out if the way, but worth the drive... I got there on a day when they were setting up a show, do about half the museum was closed... Still loved what I saw
this is a gem of a museum. It's worth it to come a couple times a year to check out the various exhibits that come through. The permanent collection is very impressive as well. There is a decent amount of parking nearby, there's a cafe here, and there's a park directly behind the museum. kids will be less interested in this museum that adults will, but it's not so big that they can't manage.
Well worth the time!
Surprisingly good collection of American art.Features wonderful examples of Hudson River School. Beautiful galleries. Well worth a visit.
Love this place. A real hidden gem in CT
And I have been to the New Britain Museum Of Art over 10 times. Need I say more. It is my favorite museum in Connecticut. I can’t wait to get back and see the new exhibit on the second floor. My husband really enjoyed the world war one Exhibit.
Excellent small Museum.
The perfect size museum what you can easily achieve in 2-4 hours. Very nice collection and exhibitions. Staff was very friendly and pleasant.
Hidden gem right in our "back yard". Nice collections, friendly staff and nice cafe.
A hidden gem! Highly recommend art museum!
Beautiful art pieces!
Wonderful staff and amazing painting ❤❤
Great museum and fabulous education program
A wonderful museum that focuses exclusively on American Art of the 19th and 20th centuries. There are works by both famous and less well known artists in a spacious and modern building. It is adjacent to the Walnut Hill Park with views of the park from the museum. You leave with a great insight into American Art.
NBMAA is a treasure. If you've never been there, be prepared for a great surprise.
Not huge so it is easily negotiated without overload! The collection of American art is impressive and the docents and staff are top notch. This is a true cultural gem nestled against a beautiful park in New Britain.
An unexpected find. An excellent small museum in a former wealthy industrial community. The collection covers American and European art especially well. I attended the opening day of an annual juried art show of contemporary local artists. The level of technical skills was top flight and the originality of most was high level. Stimulating afternoon. Sorry I missed the Georgia O'Keefe exhibit by a few weeks.
A hidden gem, some good early American painters.
Great place to visit, im amazed at the size of this place, they have numerous programs throughout the week including Painting Parties. Beautiful artowl displayed with very informative informational cards attached so your not second guessing where the art is from. Conveniently located off of West Main St in New Britain CT ample parking and located next to Walnut Hill Park where you can walk around on a beautiful day after your visit to the Museum. Track around the park is exactly a mile around and affords for some nice exercise. Definitely great place to visit
Georgia O'Keefe exhibit was wonderful. The staff is so welcoming.
Great way to spend your afternoon or morning. Local college students check to see if your school will get you free entrance!
This museum has held my interest for decades. My appreciation of individual pieces and the work of the curatorial staff is expanding as I go through docent education there.
Surprisingly great art museum. Focus on New England artists old and new. Currently running a Georgia O'Keefe exhibit. Well worth the trip.
The best location to see Great American Art! The security guard gets. Me every time.
Always an outstanding place to visit. Today's Georgia O'Keefe Exhibit was truly special.

A great variety of art works a must see if you are an art lover.
Great place to go , not an artsy person but I enjoyed it very much
Very beautiful. Loved the stories
A real gem! Great introduction museum for young folks. Approachable and very well laid out.
Not great. If this Connecticut's hub of culturalism and arts, then we're in serious trouble. Feels very ad hoc and not well planned.
Very nice and welcoming staff. The museum offered a 2 week art program for kids this summer which was fun and educational.
Well done local museum.
A good wonderful space for to see art, or catch some classical music
Great works of art, not too cluttered. Interesting bench or seating in every room (they're an understated character in this museum). Appreciate the BoA weekends.
Excelent management!
Impressive collection of art. A lot of the masters are represented. Well kept. We saw a Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit that was great.
Exceptionally surprising, with much more to the exhibits than one would expect from a local museum.
I love their upstairs bar, you can see the entire golf course from the balcony
Big big museum. A gem. American art nicely laid out. Was there a few hours and didnt. Seehalf of one floor. Cafe is pleasant experience also
Wonderful diverse collection of American art.

This museum is understated. In a corner, you might find an early work of Jackson Pollack, Andy Warhol or Grandma Moses. Excellent pieces spanning over 2 centuries of American art. Neat pulp fiction gallery, as well as works by local artists.
Amazing exhibits and the cafe wasn't just beautiful but served good food.
A wonderful selection of pieces highlingting New England history, as well as world class limited exhibits.
Really loved the staircase botanical mural by Louise Jones, and the botanical paintings of T.Merrill Prentice. Amazing Stories, the Pablo Helguera exhibit was very interesting as well. Lovely museum both architecture and grounds.
This is a great museum with many interesting exhibits. There is free admission on Saturday mornings.
Very nice place!
Beautiful exhibits and permanent collections.
It's okay. The art is on par for the region. The people were polite. The security guards looked like bums. Good for local art history.
A beautiful experience! Well laid out collection. Georgia O'Keeffe exhibit very well done. Highly recommended.
It was an amazing experience, I dont really know much about art, so i cant really say much but I do know that I had fun..
Awesome place. Art Lab is a free place where you can take little ones, even adults enjoy it. Relaxing environment as well.
One of the many places in NB with a focus on fine art.
The art really inspired me as an art student!
Great collection. Friendly staff.
The museum is a true Hidden Gem. Excellent collection of American Art in a beautiful building next to a well-maintained city park. Remarkable special exhibitions including the current one of works by Charles Prendergast and his brother. Pleasant cafeteria with good food and a nice view. Little Poland is also close by with markets and restaurants brimming with food straight from Poland and other countries in Eastern Europe.
Awesome gem. Make the effort to check it out. A hidden gem.
An early morning meeting in the large room and state for the beautiful artwork.
Absolutely amazing.
Just fantastic. This is a must do. Outrageous collection of American artists. Impressive exhibits. Part of the art pass museum group.
Pleasantly surprised at this small town museum. Went for the Georgia O’ Keefe exhibit, but stayed for everything, including a live jazz concert.

A real gem, especially if you're a fan of American Impressionism.
We love the New Britain Museum of American Art. Yesterday's visit was a treat as we enjoyed the Dennis Hoppet exhibit "the Lost Album". What a great way to spend a wintery Saturday afternoon.
Such a wonderful! Excellent for anyone, any age. Thankful to have it so close to home
Lovely setting Great collection for city the size of New Britain. Bring in great exhibits
I tried going inside but they were close, looked pretty from the outside though.
They constantly have new exhibits up to keep me coming back!
Lovely, always has an interesting new exhibit. The benches are my favorite- almost all are unique works of art themselves.
A beautiful museum. There is always something special on display. The permanent collection is wonderful too. You can enjoy this museum it is just the right size.
I am always pleasantly surprised about the works & artists I find there...I do wish the gift shop provided these temporary works in something I could buy, but may not be worth the investment...support your local museums...!!
Great exhibits. Ample parking and right next to Walnut Hill Park
Great place for outing. This place is good for both children and adults. This place provides learning with fun. This museum has a great selection of a variety of artistic items. There are many events to enjoy and there is always a special exhibition. There is something for everyone to enjoy.
Yesterday the humane society had a Yappy hour at the New Britain museum. Went with my mom had a few drinks, and the dogs got to make some new friends
Very beautiful. Great exhibits. New and old.
Beautiful art and exhibits. The staff was informative, pleasant, and helpful.
Today was the first Monday the Museum was going to closed. However, they let us visit because we drove from NY to CT. We truly enjoyed the American Art displayed.
One of my favorite museums. Simple to walk through. Clean. Beautifully curated. Great options for kids. Never disappointed.
This is both a great museum and a local gem. I've been coming here since grade school field trips and I regularly take my family. There's a few rooms of Hudson River School paintings that are simply lovely. The top floor changes from time to time but often has great modern art. The museum has a great collection and cycles it often enough to reward repeat visits. The people who work there are nice, and clearly like working in a cool museum. They also have a great education department and offer art classes. I've taken my kids and it's made for a great family experience. Go if you can; it's a wonderful place.
Great exhibit of Georgia O'Keeffe !
Nice place , l like it .
You can get museum passes feom the library which gains you free admission. The art is very interesting and they have a decent amountbof well known artists as well as new modern artists.
Delightful museum, Saturdays from 10 until 12 noon free admission! Great collection of American paintings, especially Hudson school and impressionists. Cafe overlooks the park and is good, wonderful service. Two hours maybe three works just fine.
Great collections and exhibits. Awesome events. Underappreciated gem.
This museum offers a different experience than the Wadsworth. Smaller than the Yale Gallery of Art, the NBMAA is a much more intimate layout making you feel like you can linger a little longer with each work of art. You can take no-flash photos. Their focus on American artists is an education in itself. I really enjoy how they rotate exhibits with local Connecticut artists. Their Thomas Hart Benton room is a special treat, as is a small Jackson Pollack painting of Menemsha Harbor on Martha’s Vineyard. If you teach, bring your students here on a field trip. The education staff does a really nice job and they have a room on the lower level where you can also do a hands-on activity. If you’re a parent, the museum always has fun days for the kids as on first Saturdays of the month which are free to the public. Can’t make the first Saturday? Check your local library for an NBMAA free pass, good for up to 4 people. Also, you can get in for free if you have a Bank of America card. A membership to the museum is also good for admission to other museums across the state. NBMAA has parking on the street and a lot on the side of the building with easy handicap access. The café is a nice place to have a bite or head over to “Little Poland” and eat at Capitol Lunch or Staropolska.
Fantastic museum!
Great collection. Georgia O'Keefe exhibit brought us here but we will be back. Buy the Passport for access to Connecticut Art Museums.
It was so awesome to see all that the museum had. I always woukd drive by but this is the first time I went in. Awesome!!

I brought my son to the museum we had a blast
They display beautiful art. Cafe inside establishment. They are very locally involved.
Nice staff. The paintings were well lit and represented 18-1900s mostly. Modern art galley upstairs in open gallery space with lots of natural light. Pleased with the diversity of artists represented. Smaller museum, but well worth the visit.
I has a great time with my daughter and her classmates. The staff was very friendly and very well knowledge of the art exhibits.
An outstanding smaller museum. Both the art and architecture are worth your time. Impressive
First time we visited for the Georgia O'Keefe exhibit and can't believe this gem was so close. This museum feels like a New York City place but easy parking and easy to get to. We will be back.
Great Art museum. Their exhibits are great.
