The Nathan Hale Homestead is situated in a beautiful setting in rural Coventry. The grounds are a great place to visit any time of year and they are home to the Coventry Farmers Market held seasonally on Sundays from 10am to 2pm. The Farmers Market has been voted as 'best in Connecticut' by Yankee Magazine. The house was completed in 1776 and contains many Hale artifacts including Nathan's gun and his buckskin covered trunk. The Connecticut Antiquarian Society has done a marvelous Jon maintaining this beautiful property.

The Nathan Hale Homestead is a fine museum in its' own right. They offer excellent programs (e.g. hearth cooking, Ghost tours), and the history is intriguing. The weekly on-site Farmer's Market has received quite a bit of well-deserved recognition. You need to arrive early as the parking fills up and traffic can be heavy.

Great tour guy. Besides being super hot, he was knowledgeable as well interesting. Would be nice to visit when the Farmer's Market is there, although I am told super busy!

Joseph piccirillo

Great place to visit. Our docent, Barbara, was very knowledgeable. Well restored. Interesting history. Beautiful grounds.

Robert Rastelli

Great historic site. We go weekly for the farmers market in the summer. It's crowded, but a lot of fun.

Michele Deane

Beautiful grounds. Came for Farmers Market. Lots of good stuff.

Diane Barrieau

This is a beautiful place, we attended a Naturalization Ceremony there so it was a fitting setting. We were given the opportunity to tour the homestead while there. It's a step back in time, reminiscent for me of Greenfield Village homes in my home city of Detroit, Michigan, complete w/period garbed guides. Think Sturbridge Village or Mystic Seaport here in the East.

Interesting part of American History, although those who lead the tour have a limited general knowledge Early American History. It appeared that their info for tour was scripted.

You should definitely check out the museum at Nathan Hale they got some great artifacts that a couple of metal detectorists have gave them plus other things they have gotten it's a great experience

Ernest Adams

Friendly, helpful staff, plenty of parking on the grass, but no reserved handicapped parking which was a problem for a few of the guests. People who had to set up equipment had a hard time getting near where they had to set up. The guests were well treated. Recommended for a wedding or other special occasions.

A smaller historical site run by the state but not insignificant. Lots of history here and the docents were happy to see us. We visited when an encampment of soldiers, both British and Colonial, put on some supurb demonstrations. Low admission fee helps. Be sure to include this site in addition to other site visits during a day trip.

Nathan wasn't there when we stopped in, but there were some people who showed us around his house and told us some very interesting things about his life and his home. Worth checking out.

Andrea Gladden-Postles

Expensive to visit the inside of the house. Entrance not clearly marked. They do their best for disabled parking and entrances.

This place was locked when we got here. Their hours said they would be open online, but they weren't and neither was the Strong Homestead. When we called, the recording was for May hours of operation, it is now November. If I hadn't have driven an hour to be here, I wouldn't be so upset, but alas, I did. My advice is to call first.

My husband and I visited the homestead for the first time on Saturday. I love historic buildings and places. The tour guide Matt was awesome, he took his time and answered all questions we had and was very knowledgeable about the Hale family. The facility has taken great care in acquiring authentic Hale artifacts, BRAVO! Would recommend this place for anyone who likes historic landmarks.

They were closed but we definitely want to go visit. We could even rent for events :)
