This Museum belongs to the category of Museum.
I love this museum. It is a small museum but there is nothing wrong with that. In fact I truly believe that is why is so special and we always feel welcome. My two boys enjoy their facility and classes very much. The staff are very friendly and they always help you. I recommend other families to sign up for the classes they have, they are affordable and worth it.
My 4 year old grandson loves it there. Plenty to play with and do along with the live animal room.
Nice and small location for the little ones
Fun for kiddies.
Very small and nothing much
It was a great place. The kids love it. We enjoyed watching them running. I totally recommend it.
Good space for young kids. Nature exhibits and live animal space great for little children (2-4) but older kids have less interest. Parents letting their older children literally run back and forth makes it a little intimidating for 2-3 year olds.
It is very nice! A bit smaller than I thought it would be. My 2 year old enjoyed being there for 3 hrs though and loved the animal room
very small not much for kids to do
The kids enjoyed this place so much. As Grandparents it was fun watching them run around and play and all the nooks and crannies. And they love the live animals
Great little museum that's been around since I was a kid. Its more for young kids. A nice play area and it was fun to pet the bunnies
My son loved it here at 3 years and continues to ask to go more than 5 years later. We are considering doing one of his upcoming birthdays at Lutz.
This small museum is perfect for the 7 and under set. You can easily see every part of museum in 1 visit and not be overwhelmed. Live animals are always a favorite part for my kids!
My daughter had fun, but it is really only a place for toddlers and they lose interest after about an hour. They don't have much area to work with so I don't think they could improve it much more, but maybe add puzzles or something to the walls.
Great place for kids to be kids and learn!
Great place to take the kids for fun
My daughter enjoys coming here but it hasn't changed at all since I was a kid 30 yrs ago. The place is falling apart, literally, in many places. Animals don't look healthy and their enclosures don't look clean. Appears that not a dollar has gone into improving the place for decades. Things stay broken for months or longer. Could be so much better if some money went into improving.
Great place for kids
Wonderful museum for younger children. Two main parts - one with small animals, the other an interactive display of early 1900s Connecticut, which serves as a play area, with stores, a post office, classroom, home and fruit stand. The museum is usually relatively quiet, and it's the perfect way to spend a few hours, even on a regular basis (we usually go once a week). There's a lot to do, and kids are not easily bored. Again, I'm referring to young kids, under age 6, maybe up to age 8.
Cool place. It keeps the kids busy. The classes are interesting and the reception associate is friendly, attentive and beautiful.
I loved going here with my toddler! Gorgeous animals and lots of laid back fun for my little one! Absolutely recommend it!
Nice place to play very well kept animals to see for the kids. The day was busy there but it was a weekend.
pretty small, kind of boring
It's a quaint little place.
Really cool place ! Kids loved it.
The kids have a lot of fun here and it's easy to get to from 384. Their parking area is tight but it's (arguably) about the right size for the venue.
Great place to take my 3 year old son for couple of hours
Friendly staff and kids enjoyed it!
I loved this place when I was a kid
It is very good for children from about 1 to 7 years old. It is a good museum.
Great family place!
My son is 19 months old and he loves Lutz. This was our second time visiting and we easily spend 2 hours there. It's a perfect outing on a scorching summer day.
We were looking for a convenient place to stop in the middle of a road trip to give my 4 year old nephew a chance to run and play and not be cooped up in a car all day. Lutz was perfect for that. It is conveniently located just off the highway so I appreciated not having to detour too far into a town. Myself and the two other adults that I traveled with all agree that it's definitely a bit of a stretch to refer to Lutz as a museum. There's not much on display. Lutz is more just an indoor play place with toys to spark the little ones imagination. The staff member at the front desk was nice and cordial. The animals definitely looked sad and like they all could stand to be in bigger enclosures, especially the birds. The birds need room to fly.
Fun place for young children that stimulates imagination play! There are also some small animals living there, and they have classes that you can go to. One day when we went they learned about listening to music and painting the feelings of music. My kids loved it!
Our family has been members for years. Love supporting them even if the kids are a little too old for this museum. The nice thing about their membership is the reciprocal program. We don't pay for most kids museums we visit because of our annual membership here.
We went for a birthday party and loved the museum. We’ve been looking at a museum pass for my son and had been considering Kidcity but we didn’t really love Kidcity for him at this age (to big and crowded at times, good for the occasional visit but not ready to make it our primary place). At the party my son was able to use most of the activities on his own (I can definitely play with him but not necessary) and I can see him from most places and don’t have to worry about him running off. It’s a great places for younger kids. The pass that we got allows us to visit other museums (providence Children’s Museum and Boston Museum of Science and many more) for free and then there are still more (Kidcity and niantic Children’s Museum and many others) that we can visit for 1/2 price.
The kids have fun here but they don't like to see the animals. My understanding is that they're rescued though. We purchased a membership for a very reasonable price however that gives us access to lots of places!
Well priced and very cute inside. The main section has this adorable two story townlike setup for the kids to play. They can go in and out if the post office, school house and store and the upper level resembles a house. At first I thought my kids would get bored given how small it is but they loved it!!! There is a back section with animals and reptiles to look at and this is included in the admission price. I was pleasantly surprised here and would go back.
Not much there. Animal area cramped.
First visit! Great place for young children! They had wonderful art activities for the kids!
Boring, & not comfortable for expecting mothers
Nice parties!!
Nice place to bring preschoolers ,small museums not to much to do but kids love this place
Excellent for kids
Nice place to spend sometime for kids .
A little pricey for Nana and grandson only but it was worth all the memories laughs and smiles that day.
Too small and too little to do
Kids LOVE it. Parents too.
Small museum with a small play area. Haven't been there for anything but birthday parties, but it has a good setup for it. Big room with cafeteria tables and a play room off to the side.
Great place to take children for learning & playing
Clean and friendly
Great for 1-8 year olds.
Not much to do for a one year old.
Great place for kids to burn off energy on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Always nice to go with my nieces. The staff are very welcoming and helpful.
The kids love it, they could spend hours there...
Fun times for your little ones at this place. They can play, color, and look at animals.
Wonderful little museum! Perfect for 2+ year olds
The grandkids love it.
This place is nice, but it's definitely in need of an update.
Children truly enjoy.
An old school-house converted into a play room for kids. Kid sized post office, market, school, and barn. Some live animals to see that were rescued. Good for kids prob 1-8 years old.
It's okay. I guess I'm looking at it as an adult. It seemed over very quickly. But my daughter had a blast. She didn't want to leave. Not too many exhibits
Good place to bring your small children. Lots of kids there for your kids to play with if they're around 4-8 I suppose. Somewhat small variety of things to do but it is kept up well, it's clean, and the staff are very friendly.
Great place to bring the family
Had a great time here for the Groundhog Day festivities!
Fun for young kids
Lutz a great museum with all kinds of unique programs and classes. Their animals are all well cared for and are used for educational sessions as well. There are plenty of areas to play on and pretend in, allowing kids to follow their imaginations while learning new things.
Great place for kid's and family
Great fun. Good sized space.
Great place to bring the kids. It's small so it's easy to keep track of them. The people that work there are great and knowledgeable.
Nice place, great staff
Fun place to take the grand kids. Activities, others children, animals, real and pretend play. Never disappoints!
Cute and fun place to bring the little ones. All ages are good, but there is less to do for children who can't walk very well yet. The animals are sometimes pretty exotic, there are neat educational sections too. If you live nearby, get the membership and go whenever you like!
We spent maybe 30 minutes there. Good thing we had a Groupon. It was very small, lacked stuff to do in the displays and my kid barely interacted with things. Lots of displays had buttons to push and listen to stories....boring....he did not care about what was being said. There were not enough interactive pieces in the little city. Animals were pretty cute in the back, but not worth the price of admissiom. Maybe a birthday party would have been better, but not a place to go for a day trip.
Great for pre schoolers. Nice, age appropriate programs.
Nice places spend the day with your young children
For kids seven or younger this is a great activity for 1-2 hours. I love the kid's size storefront of downtown Manchester. Also some cool antique train sets. It's a great place for kids to learn through play. The Lutz has a small but cool animal museum. Check out Flemish the rabbit. Check your local library for discount passes. You'll save half off addmission.
Too expensive and nothing much to spend time. Waste of money. There is no reason why an adult should pay for this museum. I suggest not to go here until it is free or an offer else plan to go with only one adult along with kids.
Great place for kids to play and see a large variety of animals. They offer parties as well as use of the space for clubs and meetings during after hours. Check out the coral reef here that the Connecticut Area Reef Society maintains! It's beautiful!
Small but fun
It's a very cute place and its only $7 dollars so its affordable. We went for mother's day " i was free' The littles loved it i would say from what i saw on mother's day it's geared towards younger kids maybe 5yrs and younger but i did see they offered some programs so that may be something for the older kids & had summer camps so that is cool. Definitely think worth the trip on a rainy day with the littles.
Nice place to take kids locally.
It's small but very interactive and kid friendly, both my children had a blast, I even had fun, it's a great place
Great little museum for toddlers
My son is still young enough to enjoy it but it is a very small museum. The animals are our favorite part.
The kids love it here. Lots of hands-on things to play with and the animals are interesting. Reserving this place for rainey's cold days so the kids can enjoy & play.
Cute little museum which is very accommodating to our local homeschool community.
My kids loved it. Not too big but was there for i think 3 hours. Cute section that has animals to look at. Check out Groupon first to get a deal.
What a wonderful place for kids. The anaimals set it off for fun filled day.
It's a good place to take your child for them to experience something different. On the other hand it might only hold your child attention for about an hour and a half. If you want a full day of fun you might want to go to another location
I can see were this a good place for some, however I was let down. I thought it was bigger space, and had more activities then just playing with wooden toys and puppets. The animal room was nice.
Great for kids of all ages, live animals are great.
This museum is okay for an hour or so and it's nice if you're local but it's pretty small. Last time we were there it was clean but there were a few things broken (the telephone wasn't working and that's one of my son's favorite things). The little room with animals is nice but generally we put in the extra time to go to Kid City instead of Lutz.
My 5 year old liked it and later said we should go back there, I would say for kids 5 and under. We were only there for like an hour because it is so small.
My kids love visiting here. It is very neat to have two play levels with all of the different rooms. My daughter especially likes the trolley and the back room with all of their animals. Very great place for kids of all ages.
We went to the Lutz for a series of music together classes with Miss Rebecca when my son was two. He loved it ! It is great for little toddlers, he used to have a blast in there. Great little place. Miss Rebecca is awesome !
Love the lutz!! Great for kids
My daughter loved it
Fun for young kids
Very nice place for the kids to enjoy and learn
Great place to bring the kids.
Kids loved it!!!
Good animal section but not a lot of toys for toddlers. My 2 year old got bored quickly.
Cute little place for children to explore & learn. Big enough to allow kids room to play but not big enough where I wouldn't feel comfortable having my 2 children there by myself.
My grandkids love it.
The perfect place for toddlers and young children. Lots of fun corners to explore, and engaging fun for parents too!
We had our son's birthday party here. The kids were allowed to play in the museum before and after the party and the program about North American animals was very good. Jess did a very good job teaching the kids, even when they came near the end of their short attention span. The Flemish rabbit was really cool and the kids loved meeting it.
The place is little but the kids had lots of fun. There are some animals, a train running close to the ceiling, a lot of fun things to do.
Great kids museum. Not the largest, but they pack in a lot of activities and toys, and an entire section dedicated to live animals. They also have a stage and scheduled activities as well. It's an affordable, educational, and fun way to spend a few hours with your kids.
Live animals all ages will love. Lots of other fun mostly for kids up to 7ish, bday party rentals. Small local schoolhouse turned nonprofit museum makes for a fun family day
Lots of fun for kids and they also have a little playground in the back with picnic tables.
My daughter had so much fun!!
IT'S GREAT FOR THE LITTLE TODDLERS. MUSEUM IS NICE
My 3yr old Grandson really enjoyed the touch a truck event. He asks to go to the museum all the time. It is great for younger children who need to have hands on interaction with their environment.
Small but fun
The Lutz Children's Museum has grown tremendously since it's humble beginnings and today is so much more than a "chidren's museum". It's a place to play, learn and explore for children of all ages and developemental abilities. The detail paid to the both the educational and play value if each display was stellar! Even adylts accompanying a child will enjoy your visit (with real antique toys displayer behind plexyglassto view) you will find nostalgia at every turn.
We have been going to the Lutz for about 4 years now. We love it for a few reasons: First of all, with the reciprocal membership I pay once, keep my money local and get benefits of half price or reduced admission in other children's museums and science/technology centers. The Lutz participates with BOTH programs. If you are from Manchester or the surrounding area, putting your money into this museum is a no-brainer. You can pop in any time with your under 6-er and have a great hour or two for free for the whole year. I say 'under 6-rer because my 6yo still loves the place but in short amounts. Which is fine and actually more of what we are looking for anyhow. I have a 2yo as well and while she could stay all day, I certainly can't. Pack a lunch, have it outside after playing and go back in after lunch. Or just go for the hour. Say hi to all the animals, Try to mimic the bird calls, dance to the music upstairs, do the activity (craft or animal) every hour.. whatever it is you can certainly find plenty to do for an hour or so and I find that is my family's limit anyhow. The Lutz also has CLASSES. The only museum around that has educational classes for 2-10yrs old. They are wonderful. They have music, art, animal, and holiday themed classes. They run by the age group (generally, 2-3, 3-5, and 5-10) once a week and are put out in three month chunks with their newsletter. They are affordable and if you are a member you get a discount. Awesome. The trips, special events, music concerts, summer camp - We are going to the Statue of Liberty this Saturday and they go to the Bronx Zoo yearly as well. We do the Drop & Shop during the Christmas season where you can drop your child off for a fee and take a few hours to go shop or eat or wrap gifts. The kids stay and play and watch a movie, have snacks - it is a blast. During the summer they have a summer camp program, around the spring they have concerts once a month with people like Stacey Peasley, Zak Morgan, Bari Koral, and Debbie & Friends. Free with your admission or membership. At the end of the summer there is Farm Day at the Fish Family Farm out in Bolton where you can have free ice cream and enjoy the animals, face painting, hay rides, tie dye - tons of stuff to do. The Lutz goes around to the libraries and schools and does animal education programs also. Chances are if you are from the area and you don't know about the Lutz, your child does. I think the Lutz has SO much to offer and is a great part of our community. Sure other places are bigger but this little museum really has a lot more to offer than all the other places out there. Lastly - the size of the Lutz is actually a good thing from my point of view. I like being in one room and being able to keep an eye on my kid. Kids don't need much to keep them active and engaged. Too much and they get over whelmed. I like that the Lutz pushes them to use their imagination and doesn't have too many things cluttering up the place. Keeping it small is comforting and not at all stressful. I don't have to have my kids fighting over who wants to go where (Our second favorite place Kid City is gorgeous and awesome but have more than one kid and you are bound to make someone unhappy when you have to change rooms!) So yeah - my heart is obviously lives at the Lutz. I am happy to have found something that my kids can grow up with. I feel lucky to live so close to something so special.
Very nice place
Great Place to Take Your Little Ones 2+
All the trucks are so cool thank you
It's clean. Easy parking. Price is $7 per person including adults. I always get the museum pass from the library so we don't pay. Lots of kids running around.
Adorable place for kids and friendly staff
Nice for smaller kids very interactive
Fun place to practice pipes
Amazing experience for the little ones
It's a very small children's museum. Some seem disappointed in the size, however it was clean and very entertaining to my 4 year old. There was lots to discover here. My family has a membership to several museums....I would recommend the membership.
My 2 and 4 year old love it there.
Great place for hands on for the little ones. Staff is awesome. Nice collection of live animals.
Small, but the animal exhibit was cool.
Great place to bring the kids. My grandson loves it there...
This museum is pretty small with limited animals in glass box. This is a very nice place to hang out with your kid. The play area is pretty good.
Great "Kids Morning Activity / Manchester Mall Visit" day!
Small but beautiful.
This place is great for the kids to run around. They aren't going to learn much, but younger kids will have lots of fun. The animals are always a hit. They also have some nice little touches like a phone that connects two areas of the museum. The kids get a kick out of it.
My kids love to see and touch all tje animals in the animal room and love playing dress up on the farm. The little town inside is fun for sorting and make believe play. The staff is kind and love to help kids play and express themselves.
Had a fun time meeting Chuckles
I dont see how this place even made 4 stars. Second time i been here. the first time was about last year and my son was 2. there was no props for each exhibit. It was only something to look at not play. I decided to give them a second chance cuz maybe it was jus a bad day but nope my son mostly walked around and looked at things there was nothing to do or play with. Total waste of money. I would give this olace no stars but one star for the animal.
Great place to bring a toddler!
Kind of small kid explored everything in less than an hour
Super cute
VERY small... in my opinion it wasn't worth the cost of admission. My 2.5yr olds were bored within 30 min....
