You have the feddbacks of real people who know the services of Connecticut River Museum (Museum) in the state of Connecticut.
To this day the firm gets a score of 4.6 over 5 and this rating has been based on 190 reviews.
As you can read, the average score it has is basically the highest, and it is based on a high number of scores, so we can think that the rating is quite faithful. If people have bothered to value when they've done well, it works.

Just love this place! If you want to learn all about the CT River Valley and it's place in history, this is the place to go. They also rent kayaks and canoes and offer guided tours if North and South cove!
Had a great time great food great Museum great band . Rotary did a nice job. Essex is a beautiful town. Love my New England.
2nd annual visit did not disappoint. Loved train layout on 3rd floor, nicely designed exhibits on 2nd and 1st floor focused on the river. Fascinating combination of history, transport, environment and more.
Beautiful museum. On the river.
Great museum, lots of things to do including kayaking, and very knowledgeable staff. The exhibits change about 4 times a year.
A really interesting peek into the history of the Connecticut river.
we did the myths and legends tour great fun!
Gorges place
So amazing I love going here they always have exciting exhibits
Great museum for all ages. My 4 year old grandson loved it.
Very interesting and learned a lot.
A lovely small riverfront museum.
Annual train showcase by Steve Cryan is an excellent exhibit
Beautiful area and a ton of history!
Nice well maintained museum
Small museum with wonderful exhibits. From Thanksgiving to Christmas there is a train show as well.
THIS MUSEUM HAS ALOT OF GREAT ITEMS ON DISPLAY. IT IS ALSO AN OUTSTANDING PLACE TO VIEW BALD EAGLES ON THE DOCK. MY FRIEND AND I VIEWED 7 BALD EAGLES ON VALENTINE'S DAY FROM THE DOCK.
Awesome family fun year round. Cruises, tours and more.
Great exhibits. Lots of local history
Very interesting exibits, especially when they have the train show on the upper level.
Great historical venue
Had so much fun with my Dad and Uncle. The model train set was on display with an awesome scavenger hunt! Definitely will return.
A little museum with a big punch, especially if you're maritime oriented. The instructional materials are interesting and informative, particularly with regard to the Essex Village place in historic. My favorite item is the pedal power submarine that worked but never did deliver its explosives to the enemy ship. Alas, but what a story!
The sail boat ride was the best
Closed when we were there
Fun and activities
Rich in History, infornative info about CT it's resources & boat Building & prohibition times - very interesting well worth seeing
The museum was nice. I was there for the Eagle River Cruise by RiverQuest. The cruise was excellent. The staff of both the museum and RiverQuest were polite, knowledgeable and friendly.
Cool place
Very helpful and amazing people only looking to help make sure you have an enjoyable time out on the water.
Absolutely gorgeous inside & out!!! We will definitely be coming back!
This s place is small but full of interesting things. There is a historic replica if the Turtle which was the first "submarine". You can get river tours to see Eagles and other bird life on river. Go around Christmas to see train show. Staff is friendly & helpful.
Great place to visit and gather historic information
Very informative. Nice people. Displays are good. Especially liked the Turtle.
Great Day to Watch the Eagles. Sunny, 34 degrees and not to windy. Saw 14 eagles along with geese, ducks a swan. The guides were great and the river tour was a nice 1:45 trip. Got dinner great photos from the back of the deck. Would do again. The museum took about 45 minutes and was filled with some interesting information about the area and history of the river.
Attended an auto show, lots of old cars there until 2pm
Interesting museum about 19th century Conn. River valley. Also has a model train exhibit. Great for the youngsters.
This was fun to explore but I'm glad I got a student discount because it is really small and the only thing that was really interesting was the special exhibit of trains that was there.
Nice place to visit while seeing the area.
Learn how the connecticut river was essential for that origination of Connecticut! Right down town essex, they have so many interesting things to see and a one person submarine to try out. They also have tours on a replica older sail boat from the 1600s. I highly recommend whether this is your first time or 1000th time in the area.
I love being on the Connecticut river in Essex. Great museum.
I love this place!! The building, the staff, the exhibits, the gift shop, the epic history and the events that take place here all add up to a very rich experience that I've found nowhere else!! Close to 400 years of epic history is represented here with displays, interpretive boards, art and artifacts. Bring the whole family!!
Beautiful place to visit!
Great local museum at a great location. Many displays, interesting stories and artifacts.
Cool place
Surprisingly interesting museum with charm. Christmas model train show is fun. Love the wall mural in back stairway. Charming to walk through Essex before/after.
Good musem
Didn't go inside because don't have enough time but the views were awesome!
great place for a day of fun with kids
Lovely small museum, charming receptionist, clean wc, friendly welcoming doggo, nice little gift shop
Great museum overlooking the water. Would definitely recommend it to any of my friends from ohio who would be coming to Connecticut
Excellent small museum. Take a trip on the Onrust sailing ship if you can.
Nice
nice staff
Part museum, part story time and part toy train display. It's a weird mix, but the kids seem to like it. A little expensive for what it is, glad we got our tickets on Groupon.
A great little museum in a beautiful spot. Interesting exhibits and a beautiful view. Go spend a couple hours, and bring the elementary aged and older kids.
Love this place, Essex is a great day trip.
Super fun and informative. My grand kids enjoyed it as much as I did.
Very interesting presentation of historical facts. Well curated educational exhibits.
A one of a kind experience for anyone on the southern Connecticut River. During the summer there's also a concert every Thursday around 7:00. A must see in Essex!
Really interesting museum. Can't wait to go back!
There is a Wonderful scene over there You should definitely go that place
The river tour for the Eagles, while educational, was still hard to jostle for safe footing in a sea of people trying to elbow you out of their way to see the eagle. On our trip, several parents completely ignored the dangerous behavior of their younger children. No staff ever stepped in to tell the parents that the children needed to be instructed to follow safety rules. The museum itself is very small. Very small. There is nearly no parking close enough for any disabled person to access the museum and boat tour. Most annoying - the address they give you for the boat tours is incorrect. GPSing the address sends you a mile beyond. Once you finally figure out the GPS is incorrect, you find the address and realize there is no parking and must park a mile away anyway. The person who is parking the vehicle runs the risk of missing the boat all together. The ONLY reason I gave 3 stars is the majesty of the Eagles we witnessed.
Beautiful view and good for fishing
It was cute it was worth the money
Great small museum, we learned a lot about Connecticut river that we didn't know.. and very friendly stuff.
Small but has a lot. Worth seeing.
Great exhibits affordable for families
Boy do these guys know how to throw a wedding reception
Great location, and friendly staff. I can't recommend a visit to downtown Essex enough, or the view of the river from the museum. The museum itself however was a bit of a letdown - there was a lot of interesting things to read - however if you enjoy more visual exhibits like me then you may be underwhelmed. While I have never participated, the hands on activities offered by the museum seem fun, and we always enjoy attending the antique boat shows.
Beautiful property on the Connecticut River
A true gem for the community. Fantastic place to learn about the river and history of the local area.
The museum was very interesting! We enjoyed the alcohol exhibit and the staircases with images and stories addre fascinating! Worth a visit in your area... especially if it's pouring outside and you can't do much outdoors.
Surprisingly nice! 5 yr old and 2 yr old we're busy for a good 2 hrs and lots of little anechdotes that kept me entertained and all that for 8 USD.
Very interesting
Fun for little kids not much for teens
Great place to learn about the Connecticut river
A beautiful place. Thursdays on the Dock are worth the trip.
An interesting museum, well organized. Unfortunately, the ride on the old-timer ship is not included in the admission price.
Beautiful place!
I loved seeing the history of CT river valley and the train exhibit.
Very nice exhibit, interesting artifacts, but a bit pricey.... $10 for a small place. However, the shore side view and parking is worth it.
If you are in the area, it is worth a quick visit
This is a great museum about the history of the Connecticut River. The museum has things on hunting and trapping during Colonial times as well as Riverboats and trains. It also features the Boatyard that built ships that fought in the Revolutionary War. In addition, it covers the War of 1812 where 27 American ships were lost to the British navy 206 years ago along with many other things in American Maritime history
Beautiful old building in a gorgeous spot in a gorgeous town. Lots of Ct River history and natural history.
Nice small museum on the shore of Connecticut River. We enjoyed going through the exhibits while waiting to go on an eagle watch boat tour run by the museum. Highly recommend eagle watch!
This museum van be found at the end of the main n street running through Essex. A very good example of a New England town with river views all around. Inside you will find nautical stuff. Probably the most interesting information is about The Turtle, which was the first submarine. Museum has two replicas. We enjoyed the museum, but feel $10 was a bit high for our 45 minutes of touring.
My kids and I love the holiday train exhibit!
Great little museum, totally small town New England
Great educational experience for the family! Lots of history here, and it is displayed well and kid friendly!
First visit. Big part of CT history documented.
Nice place with good history of the Connecticut river valley and the mouth of the river area. Nice spot also for viewing the river.
Small museum on the picturesque Connecticut River. Learn about local history then enjoy the view.
Great content and location
A neat museum that depicts a lot of the local history and is one that should definitely be on your list if you're visiting the area. Lots of cool stuff to check out inside. Learned a lot of interesting things here and highly recommend coming by for something a little different.
great place to bring the kids
Nice
A well done Museum on the banks of the Connecticut river with many interesting displays. The historic town of Essex had beautiful and well maintained homes some built in 1776.
Tells a great historical story in words and pictures. Highly recommended.
Nice
Great place with good local history exhibition. Pick a nice day and go for a ride on one of the sailboats they run off the dock there, shoot back and relax for two hours as they take you out and about. Then grab a bite at the old Griswold inn on main street. Relaxing and enjoyable.
Nice place to visit Essex CT must see. Sit and watch the boats come in.
Very organized and informative
Helpful informative displays
A great place to learn about local history and see wonderful displays of Connecticut River and things that when on in the Essex area of the Connecticut River!!!!
A well currated museum with many interesting exhibits and interpretive displays that explain the past, present and future if this major river. Definitely worth the stop.
Wonderful. The CRM is the perfect expression of the river's heritage.
Un pueblo muy bonito, imprescindible viditar
Great place!
Excellent.
Nice place, good detailed history and geography of the ct river. Exhibits constantly changing.
I learned a lot about local history and the the Hudson valley, the eirly interactive wooden sub on the first floor was fun, but the art gallery on the third floor was lacklustre.
Great place to learn some history. Nice field trip
Nice museum, hadn't realized there was so much history along the river
Nifty railroad exhibit on the top floor. I loved the wooden submarine and murals painted up the staircase.
The reason I gave it 4 stars is that one floor was closed for renovation otherwise a great experience
Fun excursion to see Eagles, diving birds and swans. Great crew.
