REVIEWS OF Canton Historical Museums IN Connecticut

Great museum with a big 3-floor exhibition telling you about a variety of jobs, households and activities of 2 centuries ago. Guided tour is very interesting and requires about 2 or more hours, but we did not even notice that. It is very sad that this truly historical place works mostly on volunteers due to low activity of visitors.

Aaron Schwanke

Wonderfully fun and informative volunteers. The museum itself is full of interesting and well thought-out exhibits. And the interactive train room was so much fun for our family.

This is a must see destination in Collinsville. We loved all the history this museum contains about our town. Take some time out of weekend and stop by, you'll be glad you did.

Canton Historical Museum is housed in the original Collins Axe Company. It is a large museum, but well display with some Native American artifacts, very interesting articles & memorable items from days gone by. Clean restroom, and a nice gift area. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking, and the grounds are well-groomed. There is a large collection of the Collinsville Axe Co. The Collins tools were used by the Peary Artic Expedition to the North Pole. There is also an article that reads: The "Tunxis Rapids" was a popular fishing place for the Native Americans just below the present day "Memorial Bridge" in Collinsville, & early Canton & Burlington resident remembered seeing Native American fishing in the western bank of the river. Also nearby is the Farmington River Trail and the Farmington River. The trail offers some great views of the surrounding area and old brick building remain on the complex. Serene walking trail, great for children & pets.
